I’ve been studying and researching how to improve my online presence as an artist, and discovered @fasosites, which is part of @boldbrush. I found this site for artists through my e-news subscription, Fine Art Views, which is published through Boldbrush. It’s important to me to start participating in more art communities to learn more, and grow. Although I have a website, FASO offers the opportunity for your portfolio site to be a part of this big art community. As a result, more opportunities to be seen, information on art competitions, resources, and a whole lot more! So, I’m giving it a try. Please check it out, and let me know what you think. 👉Visit www.DeborahMarshFineArt.com, or go to my profile page for more info.😊 . 🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨 . #fasosites #boldbrush #fineartviews #artcommunities #artistresources #portfoliosites #instagramartist #debbieslivingcanvas #deborahmarsh #debbiescanvas #deborahmarsh https://www.instagram.com/p/ByVFzhrnvZK/?igshid=c5nk35xslh9d

I looked at a lot of portfolios, but a lot of them follow similar design trends. Here are a few other portfolios as well as some articles on portfolio design I found useful.

Inline SVGs can be lean, mean, responsive machines or they can be covered in transforms which not all browsers like to cooperate with (looking at you, Safari). So what to do? Optimsers are generally the way to go. You want your SVG to be as small as possible anyway so why not optimise it as much as possible?
Plugins such as SVGO (or the handy online GUI version) are great for this, removing transforms while optimising the code, but problems can occur when you want to animate the SVG in question. Depending on the animation, you may parts of your SVG to remain distinct so you can target and manipulate them individually. Optimsers like to merge paths, which is where problems can occur.
Sub Optimal Solutions
Avoid transform as much as possible when creating the SVG by being careful with where transforms are applied (generally occur when manipulating groups).
Slap a group around it. Not great for lean code but if transforms are causing animations to act funny, sometimes the quickest fix is wrapping the troublesome spot in a group and targeting that instead.
What I’m Trying
Fiddle with the settings in SVGO to prevent merging paths so you can maintain individual paths while also stripping out transforms.
Optimise in chunks then recombine in the code. This is more time consuming but if you have a particularly bothersome SVG and need one portion to not merge with the others so it can be animated, then this can work.
From my final feedback session on my portfolio site one suggestion that was made was to implement buttons at the bottom of each case study page. One leading onto the next project and one back to the previous project. This will help to improve the fluency of the site and encourage users to look through more of my work.
I have recently been revamping my website in preparation for my senior portfolio. I'm not super far on it but it's up if anyone wants to check out the progress. ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #uidesign #uxdesign #websitedesign #dribble #userexperiencdesign #uidesigner #webdesigns #portfoliosite #trends2019 #headers #landingpagedesign #business #creativebusiness #graphicdesign #graphicdesigner #belindagarrido #design #designs #designer #website #brand #onbrand #branding #webpage #wix https://www.instagram.com/p/BtB7TrIB3si/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ngswvj22xiy8
Next up is a UX designer named Hyewon Son. Right off the bat her site puts her projects in your face. She capitalizes on the brand recognition of Google to impress you. The home page is nicely laid out, really simple. Though personally I’d worry that someone who stumbles onto the site might not initially understand its purpose. I’m not sure how big of a name she is, she might not need an introduction right off the bat.
If I’d take anything away from this portfolio it’d be the case studies. Hyewon goes into a lot of detail on her projects. She summarizes her role and the project brief at the beginning, then dives into the meat of it, going through her whole process.
