speaking of the bullies, they changed order? It was wings, fire, stretchy hands, but now it’s fire, stretchy hands, wings. I know that they probably wanted to show the “leader” closest and that’s why but,,

also wtf?? these are kids. like bullies should not be a thing, I think we can all agree on that, but yeah, it’s gonna happen. but these kids are, what? eight? nine? maybe their powers (’quirks,’ whatever) aren’t super powerful yet, but this blonde kid has fire powers. has nobody talked to them about just how dangerous this is? forget roughing the other two up or intimidating them or giving them a hard time, this could genuinely escalate and get way out of hand super fast, and someone could get seriously injured.

also I really appreciate that the cops are just kind of calmly directing everyone and everyone else is just kind of chillin like “oh. another villain. that’s too bad.” like tbh that’s one of the things that always kind of annoys me about movies and shows like this where there’s like repeatedly villain attacks because yes they are scary, especially when you’re caught up in them, but if you’re just kind of there and not directly in the action or being directly threatened, then why are you freaking out? you’ve lived in this city for how long? there’s an attack every, what, two days? this isn’t routine for you by now?

I started this like 15 min ago and am only like a minute and a half into the ep smh

“the first incident?” so this isn’t just like a natural factor of their world? it hasn’t always been going on? there was, like, a definitive start to it all? was that kid really the first incident or the first one they noticed? was that actually the first incident or is it just like the commonly told first incident, like an old myth/legend/folktale/old wive’s tale?

interesting that it started with a baby and then moved to people of all ages?

oh they don’t know the cause of the quirks? interesting

((why do I feel like finding out the answer to that is gonna be like A Big Thing™ at some point in the series))

I really like the visuals they put with this exposition?? idk why it’s just,,, very appealing

also his voice is very nice to listen to tbh, so that’s a definite plus

I hate it when the main character’s voice is super annoying

but like how long ago was it that this started? he just said “before long”

I like that in this universe they actually acknowledge that hey comic books are a thing and this whole superheroes/villains/powers thing is kind of ridiculous bc it’s legit like playing out scenes straight from those comic books but also this is real life and it’s actually happening and really does pose a lot of danger and complications to a lot of people, so we’re going to treat it as something real and serious and affecting us

I might’ve spoken too soon but I really hope they don’t blow that mindset

I feel like too often superhero shows/movies just either completely gloss over the effects this stuff has on society as a whole, or it’s like a completely new thing for them, like there’s never been the concept of a fictional superhero or a comic book there before.

also dear god thank you for putting someone on crowd control I know I was just saying it was great these people weren’t really treating this like the end of the world and it is good that they were mostly staying back by themselves but. they were still standing very close to an ongoing fight. priorities, people. self preservation. they are things. that I do not believe most people in superhero universes have in the slightest.

ok i wasn’t that mad about kamui being upstaged (idk why I kinda like the guy) but now she’s acting a little too cocky for me and I feel kind of bad for Death Arms and Backdraft (?) because they definitely do deserve at least a little credit

yes. official. overseen by the government. I’m not saying it’s necessarily a good idea bc I’m not getting into the whole mess the MCU basically did regarding that, but it really does add to the worldbuilding and making it seem more realistic/draw you in a little more because you can bet that would be a thing that would actually happen in some capacity if such a large percentage of the population had superpowers, and crime was at an all-time high at the same time, with normal methods without powers likely not doing much to combat that, and it being even harder because everyone’s is different

Lemongrab 1 headcannons (long)

(I tried to group these around the theme of free time/hobbies)

🍋 After like… 3 days of not being in the candy kingdom after he was relocated to the earldom he was bored out of his mind and did all sorts of bonkers stuff to entertain himself. Like try to build a parachute out of old sheets and jump out of the highest window, or go surfing down the stairs on an ironing board. Does he seem like the sort of person who should be left unsupervised? No. It’s a wonder he didn’t die doing all the dumb things he got up to.

🍋 at some point Lemongrab probably built himself a playground in the empty courtyard in his castle so he could entertain himself and have fun but either lost interest half way through building it, or burnt all the things down one by one in anger after he hurt himself playing on them. Like he fell off the swing and decided the only way to make it pay for this humiliation is to blow it up, and accidentally Ka boomed everything else along with it.

🍋 Too Young showed that Lemongrab is far sighted and can’t read properly or see things clearly up close, so he didn’t read books at all and instead preferred to watch films. And if he did read books he’d have to use a magnifying glass as his reading glasses didn’t seem to help him much (he still squinted and leaned forwards).

🍋 His infallible recall meant that after he’d watched something he could recite it off by heart, so he would destroy any film copies he has, which is why his castle is empty. Libraries and dvd rentals hate him. He is banned from every single dvd rental in Ooo.

🍋 he probably went through a phase where he tried to make his own films but none of them were very good and he didn’t have the focus to finish anything. All of his works such as the Comedy film “man with phobia of food gets job at a restaurant” which is just Lemongrab wearing a chef hat standing in his kitchen screaming at different vegetables for 2 hours straight, are all lying somewhere in the attic.

However it was a lot of fun for him and as he made lots of films he became pretty good at it. This is why he has the necessary equipment to make his propaganda in the Lemonhope arc, and why his propaganda is pretty good in terms of actually film quality. I mean we have a slow panning scenic shot at the beginning, flawlessly executed voice over, and fast cuts of the lemon people set against him talking as well as text overlay, fading shots, and background music. Fella clearly had film making talent if nothing else.

🍋 When the lemon people were made he would force them to star in his films alongside his brother.

🍋 On the subject of art, Lemongrab 1 also seems to be a pretty talented artist. I mean in one of the advtime comics Marceline organises a zine made up of comics drawn by the other characters and Lemongrab’s submission looks like this.

And as you can tell from the shading and the composition and his colour choice, while he definitely has a bit of a way to go, he’s actually really good at drawing. So I imagine lemongrab 1 really liked drawing pictures though given his horrible eyesight he probably had to use a magnifying glass to correct his vision.

I’d also like to add that Lemongrab 1 using sound effect symbols in the third panels implies that he knows what those mean, which he’d only know from reading comics. So he’s secretly a comic book fan.

And when you think about it his infallible recall would give him a huge visual library. If he can remember a map from just glancing at it then he can probably flawlessly copy it, and was therefore a really good realistic artist with a bit of practice.

🍋 One of the other hobbies he picked up was engineering and science, which he mainly attempted in the hope of making his mother proud of him. He designed the sliding doors and reconditioning chamber in his castle,and also made the torture devices in his dungeon as well as various robots that do completely dumb and pointless things.

🍋 One of these was a soft cloth robot that was designed to be physically affectionate with him and act as a surrogate mother of sorts but couldn’t get it to fulfill his precise demands so he destroyed it in a hissy fit.

🍋 he generally got a lot of his engineering ideas from Pb’s experiments and inventions that he’d seen lying around her lab or seen blue prints of when he went over to spy on her. He’d copy her but put a lemon twist on her stuff.

For example, the pink lemonade lemon sea

we see in the lemon sea comic was made using the same technology as the butterscotch lake Pb made for uncle gumbald. But with a bomb instead of a grenade.

🍋 Because he made the pink lemonade sea he was the one who made all the aquatic lemon creatures we see in that comic. He was really excited that his lemon sea would finally have an ecosystem he forgot he had only a vague idea of how fish work, so there’s penguins and lemon coral reefs in the same place and it’s all very inconsistent.

🍋 He also quite enjoyed gardening and growing trees. Mainly because lemons are the only food he can really eat properly, and also because trees... are fun. He was especially interested in tree sculptures (which is when you grow trees into certain shapes) which is what the tree in his throne is all about.

The reason it looks like that is because it’s a sculpture in process- the finished thing would be a tree throne. It was, however, never finished as he cleared most of his projects out before Too Old.

🍋 Lemongrab actually quite likes a lot of music, he just hates harps as he has upsetting memories associated with them as I’ve explained here.

Lemongrab's favourite types of music were genres that had "screaming" in them. So stuff like heavy metal, opera, yodelling. He had pretty eclectic tastes but punk music was his favourite because the defining mood of that genre is anger, which he can obviously get behind.

Also Punk vocalists tend to not have conventionally nice sounding voices when they sing. Like screaming, snarling, and ranting more than singing are typical punk musician features. In other words, kind of like Lemongrab. So the first time lemongrab ever heard someone who sounded like him was listening to punk music, and I imagine it brought him a bit of comfort

🍋 On the subject of music, as he liked punk music he would’ve run into Marceline and the scream queens sooner or later. While he has mixed feelings about Marceline due to her being his mother’s ex girlfriend he really enjoyed a lot of her music

Lemongrab’s favourite Marceline song was I’m just your problem as it’s as a song about dealing with not being enough for someone- that someone being Pb SPECIFICALLY. Lemongrab heard the line “I’m sorry I’m not made of sugar and I’m not sweet enough for you” and became a groupie on the spot.

🍋 He even went as far as to write his own fan cover called “I’m just your problemon” which bore no resemblance to the original song beyond the title and was just Lemongrab yelled about his mummy issues for an hour with out of tune guitar in the background. There is still a very poorly made recording of it up in the attic.

The instant Scrooge woke up in grunts thanks to the incessant movements of his mattress, he knew it would be a very long day.

"Come on, Unca', wake up," Donald squawked as he jumped on the bed, laughing occasionally and holding his sailor's cap in his hand. "The more you sleep, the more money you lose."

He knew that the singing tone in his voice had been involuntary, but the Scottish duck had fallen so many times under his nephew's same spell that he no longer considered himself so gullible...

"Money that Ah can easily recover." Taking his spectacles from the nightstand, he sat down carving his eyes with the other hand, removing sleep and lizards.

He recognized that this was not something he would normally say, but he knew that money was a mere excuse for his nephew to wake him up.

Feeling the abrupt movement of the mattress when the wee duck landed on his bottom. "Shouldnae ye keep sleeping, lad? It is still too early."

Though of course, he was not one of those who rose when the sun was barely rising. He would have to find out where he acquired this custom; it could be useful to allow him to earn more money from the first minute of dawn.

"I kno', unca'! But I cannot sleep. Favorite Uncle's Day only happens once a year, and I want it to be spectacular." While saying that, he raised his hand to emphasize. The duck's gaze shone like Scrooge's used to do when he discovers a great ancient treasure, he could appreciate that when he put on his spectacles.

Favorite Uncle's Day had been a day created randomly by the twins, created essentially to be with him 24 hours, either on an adventure—small, though, defenseless enough for seven-year-olds, and with the proper permission of his sister and brother-in-law, of course—or accompanying him in the office.

Basically, it was a Duck-siblings-styled Take Your Child to Work.

Donald was the one who enjoyed it the most, especially if it was business. Della was more of the adventurous type like him, but his nephew never really specified why he enjoyed going to a company having the adrenaline of an adventure and the satisfaction of finding a valuable artifact.

He didn't want to believe that the attempted kidnapping with the Beagle Boys two years ago had something to do with it, wanting to attribute it to his cautious and fearful personality.

But it really didn't bother him. Moreover, he was fascinated that Donald had an interest in his duties as an entrepreneur.

If it continued like this, probably the youngest of the twins could be the future heir of McDuck Enterprises.

"Maybe, but as you always say: time is money." Behind his nephew's charming smile and his comic way of rubbing his thumb with his index and middle fingers, Scrooge could sense Donald's exhaustion. He knew that despite his self-imposed schedule, or his excitement for the proclaimed day, a child's body was not used to being activated so early.

"Ah knoo time is money, Donald. But we cannae start the day without yer sister. Remember: Favorite Uncle's Day involves me nephew and niece, and she willnae wake up until in a few hours." He smiled gently fluttering the feathers of the young duck's hair watching him yawn. "Why dinnae ye rest another time?"

Donald shook his head, stubborn about going back to sleep, and smiled taking one of his uncle's pillows before he even had time to react.

"Don't worry unca', I took care of it." Wagging his tail, he came down between laughs from the bed, holding the pillow over his head. "Della, wake up lazy!"

He had run out of the bedroom dragging the pillow, excited for a new day discovering new things about his unca's activities in the company and one day being equal to him.

On the other side, Scrooge rolled his eyes smiling amused as he listened to his nephew's laughter until he silenced when he entered Della's room.

He was the only uncle the twins had knowledge of; even if it hurt, his brother Gideon was virtually unknown, creating a bittersweet feeling at the fact that they created a day in his honor.

Of course, it had been created after Ma Beagle's failed extortion attempt, allowing Donald to ignore the bitter memory for twenty-four hours to enjoy them with him, his huge heart not repairing resentment towards his person, a detail that soothed Scrooge to date.

Of course, the fear that this experience caused to Donald did not allow it to be discovered by Hortense and Quackmore, which had made it difficult for Scrooge to be able to see both of them again in the face, but not blaming him for it calmed him.

His thoughts were interrupted when Della, claiming Donald on the cushions and squawks, made themselves heard. He allowed himself to smile when a typical fight between the siblings began, rising between grunts to take his robe.

It would be better if he will separate them and not Duckworth. In the meantime, he could ask him to prepare chocolate milk and toast and his morning nutmeg tea.

He knew that sooner or later he would have to disappoint the boy by telling him the adventure that was on his agenda that afternoon.

The adventure had not gone as bad as he expected. Fortunately there were no more than small scratches that with disinfectant, adhesive bandages and a small osculus could be treated, but besides that and untidy hair there was not a single feather out of place.

He should consider more adventures under the sea, Scrooge thought entering the mansion being followed by two ducklings. True, treasures were more difficult to identify as such in the ocean unlike one in South America or in Africa; but he had perceived a certain fascination in Donald. Despite his bad luck or the boy's tiredness, as a result of his sleep schedule, the old duck had noticed interest in him and the many lives and beauties it carried, the way his eyes shone at the moment he submarine completely entered the water.

"Young Donald, Miss Della, the washroom is ready. Please go clean before dinner." Duckworth received them keeping a stoic expression helping ducklings with their backpacks while Scrooge headed to the garage to store the jewels that characterized the treasure.

Being amazed enough by them that he did not perceive the way in which Donald's gaze shone as he whispered to the butler before handing him his backpack and giggling to the bathroom in the company of his twin.

Scrooge was more than used to seeing Donald and Della scribbling in a notebook in the dining room at that time of the afternoon or eating some dessert that Duckworth had consented to them.

But he was not used to seeing his nephew asleep in it, with his head resting on the table and shining on his face, drooling over what looked like a scrap of paper. Next to it was a box of half-full crayons and small cans of liquid glue and red and blue glitter respectively.

"Duckworth." Calling for the butler, he was surprised to see him leave the kitchen with a slice of apple pie with a glass of ice cream in one hand and a cup of nutmeg tea in the other.

The dog was also surprised by the condition of the duck.

"Young Donald asked me to prepare this for you to have a snack with you, but apparently he can't," he commented amusedly, showing the apex of a small smile. "Miss Della also fell asleep while you were bathing, Master Scrooge."

Nodding slowly, he looked back at his wee sleeper and allowed himself to smile, approaching to scoop him up carefully, looking sideways at the art.

Being surprised at the card on which Donald, Della and he were poorly drawn, holding hands, smiling and surrounded by what looked like coins. The clothes stood out thanks to the glitter.

The legend "Happy Favorite Uncle's Day" was written with crayons of different colors in a strange kaleidoscope, and stood out despite the typos by the stars and hearts that were basically the background and the saliva stain.

He smiled candidly and carefully wiped his face, watching him growl and curl up in his arms.

"Looks like the dream finally dominated ye, huh, lad?" He whispered, kissing Donald's forehead, smiling when he saw him calm down. "Please clean this while Ah escort Donald tae his room, Duckworth. Ye can join me in the dining room if ye like, but be kind enough tae leave the card on the table."

"As you say, sir." Showing stoicism again, he began cleaning the remains of the young duck's art.

The next day, a work of art began to be displayed in the kitchen, smiling over the duckling's shoulder when his gaze shone sweetly.
