So turns out before joining Talon, Mauga was part of a Polynesian Ecoterrorist group known as the Deepsea Raiders. Any chance you could drop some Mauga and Lifeweaver fan interactions between the two?
Tumblr media
LifeWeaver: I may not agree with the methodology, but I am glad the Deepsea Raiders were able to shut down those Summerland Oil rigs.
Mauga: You don't agree with the methodology?
LifeWeaver: *tongue click* Just... you sure caving in that oil executive's skull on national television sends the right message?
Mauga: See, I think not caving in his skull would send the wrong message, because it would tell other oil executives that I'm not going to cave in their skulls. Like, we have to be clear about cause and effect here. Be an oil executive... get your skull caved in. It's very straightforward.
LifeWeaver: ...are we sure caving in skulls is the methodology we want to use, though?
Mauga: Hey, we're throwing stuff at a wall, seeing what sticks. You know how it is.
----
LifeWeaver: Given its environmental impacts, how do you reconcile your love of travel with your love of the environment?
Mauga: Well, the way I see it, travel allows you to really experience how precious our planet is, and for me, those experiences allow me to not only be a stronger advocate, but also more conscientious in my day-to-day habits. It can also really show you how sustainable living is highly localized. Resort industries are devastating--we really need to adopt stronger attitudes of cultural relativism and willingness to adapt to local customs if we're going to travel ethically.
LifeWeaver: *thoughtful* I see...
Mauga: But also as you know, I'm super okay with murder, and really good at compartmentalizing. So *blows raspberry.*
LifeWeaver: *flatly* Ah.
Mauga: Every so often I'll visit one of the swankier resorts to hunt the most dangerous game... golfers.

the difference between Taiwanese pronunciation vs Chinese pronunciation is that it sounds... "softer" (?)
with his character as a whole just having more slurred, soft words makes sense.

If I'm helping upper class white customers, I'm looking at at 40 different pieces only for them to pick something that looks like a $30 etsy piece that also somehow costs $10,000. Younger guys in this category will sometimes call their parents and ask "is this good?" at random points.
If I'm helping lower class white customers, regardless of what it is I'm probably running them for finance. They will also argue at least once during the process. I've had a few transactions that could've been on Jerry Springer. Literally "You agreed on the one that was only 2k!" "Yeah? Well you cheated on me!"
Hispanic customers will match their white counterparts in terms of money spent on a piece, but it will be 5 minutes before closing and usually paid in cash. They will also usually face time one older female family member before purchase.
Middle Eastern: Are usually exactly the same as upper class white customers, and sometimes ill look at me like I'm poor because the highest gold karat I sell is only 18k (they're right).
Asians are a mixed bag. Korean and Japanese customers will come at you with solid and savvy bullet points but present them like a beaten orphan asking for extra soup. Chinese customers will attempt to haggle you down by sheer volume of words/questions and want certs for everything. Mongolians will give you that 30 second steppe stare and ask "discount?" before going to Costco.
Polynesians- 10 minute conversation about who I'm dating, who my friends are and who else I know before we get into anything sales related. One out of every 3 sales are usually dependent on whether or not we can engrave "mahunaloahunaloahuna" or something into the ring.
Black customers- due to the state I live in I barely have any black customers, the ones that I do get are usually either ex military and support Trump so they're basically white. The ones that don't fit into this category have either been paid for with drug money or were credit card fraud.
Lesbians: If you can get past the point in the sales presentation where they announce they're a couple like they're revealing a plot point in a YA novel without rolling your eyes, they usually buy. Two rings man- at the same time.
Gay men: avoid, will break up before your 30 day return policy and will say the universe is telling them to focus on themselves at age 47.

Alright, why wouldn't Hekarro wanna use Carja glyphs as the Tenakth writing system? The Phincian alphabet is the basis for most of the writing systems in Western Europe - if you got a writing system that works, why not adapt it?
I'M FINALLY ANSWERING THIS ASK TWO MONTHS LATER 😂
For anyone who's curious, the context for this was a post I made a while back in response to an ask regarding whether the Quen might be able to read Chinese, since the Focuses they would have found in the Great Delta would plausibly have been formatted in Chinese. In the tags on the post, I remarked that I had a rant about Hekarro wanting to borrow the Carja writing system. Everbright has asked me to elaborate, and now I'll finally be writing the essay that's been sitting at the back of my mind for like a year LOL.
My thesis here is as follows: it's not the idea of the Tenakth borrowing the Carja writing system that bothers me, necessarily. I take umbrage with the fact that Hekarro seems to think the Tenakth are inferior to the Carja because they aren't a literate society.
This post is going to get long, so I will put the rest behind a cut to give anyone a break who wants to scroll on past LOL. Also, please note: trigger/content warning for mentions of residential schools in Canada.
First things first: I'm writing this as a non-indigenous Canadian, so I may be writing with biases of my own that I will apologize for in advance. If any members of the cultural groups I'm going to mention should read this and take issue with anything I've said, please do feel free to write me a message here on Tumblr!
Okay, let me set the context here. When Aloy first meets Hekarro, a piece of their conversation is as follows, with the transcript to follow:
Aloy: I’m sorry about Fashav. He seemed like a good man. Hekarro: More than a man. A bridge between Tenakth and Carja. No outlander ever earned our respect as he did. I had hoped he would be my voice in Meridian. That peace with the Carja might become something more. A: An alliance? H: An exchange. The Carja have much we lack. Our deeds are written in ink upon our bodies. Our memories die with our flesh. But the Carja never forget. Their deeds are written in book and scroll. A:  You wanted to learn from them? H: As I learned from Fashav. He will be missed.
This conversational exchange has always bothered me, because inherent in this exchange is the idea that Hekarro views the Tenakth as being lacking compared to the Carja -- that the Carja are superior to the Tenakth because of the fact that they're able to read and write, rather than tattooing their history on their skin. This statement reflects a bias that feels very 'colonizer' to me in an icky way. Being a literate society does not inherently make you superior to a society that doesn't use writing, but that exact idea has been used tons of times in history to argue that the indigenous cultures of a place are less advanced/less intelligent/less valuable than the people who are coming in and trying to force their ideals, including literacy, on the indigenous group(s). In the context of Canada, for instance, Kirmayer et al. (2009) wrote that "aboriginal peoples were viewed as incapable of understanding and participating in democratic government, thereby motivating efforts to 'civilize' and assimilate them into mainstream Canadian society," with that mainstreaming process including residential schools: institutions that took indigenous children from their families and communities and placed them into segregated spaces where they were forbidden from speaking their native languages, practicing their traditional customs, and from contacting their families at all.
This is especially irksome to me because the Tenakth tradition of tattooing (or "ink", as they call it in-game), is based on tattooing traditions IRL with an extremely rich historical and cultural background. The most obvious similarity is to Polynesian tattoo (or "tatau") practices, which I'll focus on here, but similar methods with equally rich histories exist in the Philippines and in Japan.
One of the most striking things about Polynesian tatau practices is that it's not just the act of striking ink into the skin that matters; it's the meaning behind the act of getting a tattoo, and the embracing of community and identity inherent in the practice. As one Samoan tatau artist said, "it's important to know the meaning behind the symbols of our traditional tatau so you have a deeper understanding of the significance of what you're wearing. Each 'maman' or each pattern has its own meaning and story behind it." Polynesian artists also highlight the fact that these traditions are passed through the generations for thousands of years, and that those who wear tatau are "wearing the maps of our ancestors." As another artist said, Polynesian tatau is "a reconnection to all my ancestors and everybody behind me, because I'm not only speaking for me, but a whole generation of kids that are like me, that are getting Polynesian tattoos to reconnect."
Tenakth tattoos, like Polynesian tattoos, are a way of recording history and lore -- not only one's own stories and victories, but those of the people that are important to a warrior, as evidenced by Kotallo stating that he plans to ink Varl's deeds on his own skin in tribute. I also personally think that it's culturally fitting for the Tenakth to record important history on their bodies, since the Tenakth place such emphasis on physical strength. It makes logical sense that they would record their proudest deeds on the thing that they view with such pride, i.e. their physical bodies. Hekarro's statement that the Tenakth are "lacking" because they don't record their history "in book and scroll" feels like a devaluation of the Tenakth's culturally-specific method of recording history, much in the way that colonizing societies have devalued the oral traditions of North American indigenous groups. Oral traditions are an extremely important aspect of many indigenous cultures; a group that provides indigenous culture training has stated that "certain stories are never written down, which preserves the tradition of sharing knowledge, culture, and history orally. These stories are the fabric of the community’s history, knowledge and culture, and some are thousands of years old. In some cultures, if a story is written down it is degraded." By ignoring this rich tradition and imposing written records of those stories, they would be degraded and rendered less than what they're meant to be.
Now, some of you might be asking whether it was an oversight/mistake on the part of the Guerrilla Game writers that Hekarro made this accidentally-denigrating comment toward his own tribe. Honestly, I do think it was an oversight, and one that I find disturbing, because it seems to stem from a blind spot that GG isn't aware of. This isn't the only time that content coming from the Horizon world seems to follow this 'colonizer'-like idea of certain societies being more advanced and superior to others. In the concept art book for Horizon Zero Dawn, for instance, there's a description of the Carja as follows (p. 47), transcript below:
Tumblr media
[Transcript: Among all the tribes of Horizon Zero Dawn, the Carja Sundom boasts the most advanced culture. Using the advantages of their geographical position, the Carja have developed agriculture and trade while other tribes still rely on hunting and gathering. The Carja's impregnable capital, Meridian, provides security for a civilized population. Artisans and traders flourish here, serving sophisticated, well-to-do citizens. Carja civilization towers over the other tribes, just as the Sun of their religion rises above the horizon of their mesa valley.]
Even worse, there’s this passage from p. 48, where the non-Carja tribes are called “primitive”.Transcript below:
Tumblr media
[Transcript: Through ages of perfecting the techniques of machine plate-working, the Carja have developed the most sophisticated way: to apply the materials of mechanical fauna. While more primitive tribes would roughly affix more or less useful machine parts on their garments, Meridian artisans interweave fine fitted machine elements into comfortable and functional pieces.]
Quotes like this make me worry that there are people at GG who aren't recognizing their own bias inherent in the description of the Carja compared to other tribes. There seems to be a lack of awareness here about the dangerous underpinnings of seeing one culture as more "advanced" than another just because it is more dominant or mainstream. As Shaw (2001) states, "in not according recognition, let alone respect, to the distinctive linguistic and cultural identities that have shaped First Nations peoples, the majority culture continues to exert a significantly negative influence on identity, on self-esteem, on pride in one's cultural heritage, and on one's sense of self and of place in the broader society."
To summarize to some degree: I don't have a problem per se with the Tenakth borrowing the Carja writing system. My qualms come from the idea that the idea of the Carja being superior will come along with that borrowing, thereby devaluing the rich tradition of Tenakth tattoos. As Hale (1992) states, "while it is good and commendable to record and document fading traditions, and in some cases this is absolutely necessary to avert total loss of cultural wealth, the greater goal must be that of safeguarding diversity in the world of people. For that is the circumstance in which diverse and interesting intellectual traditions can grow."
TLDR: Tenakth tattoos are just as valid and important a method of recording lore and history as Carja writing, and the Tenakth are not inferior or primitive for not having a tradition of reading/writing. I think Hekarro's comment about the Tenakth being "lacking" is reflective of a blind spot at GG that I hope will be addressed in future games.
If you came this far, THANK YOU FOR READING and accept this cookie as thanks for staying with me! 🍪😂 A friendly final note: do be warned that any replies or comments to the effect of "but literate societies ARE inherently better than illiterate ones" will be removed and the writers of such comments may be blocked, depending on their intentions as I read them. 🥰

The death of Captain Cook- 14th Febuary 1779
When Captain James Cook came to the Hawaiian Islands in 1779 during his third voyage around the world, he had no idea what nasty consequences this would have for him.
At first, everything went as planned. The Hawaiians got on well with the Europeans and presumably (this circumstance has long been disputed and should therefore be regarded with caution) even thought Cook was the return of a seasonally revered deity, Lono, because his arrival coincided with the corresponding time at which this supernatural being was supposed to arrive.
Tumblr media
(x)
As Cook left two days later, on 4 February 1779, all was initially quiet. However, when he returned on 11 February to replace a Resolution mast that had been damaged in the storm, relations were testy, for the Hawaiians were puzzled by the totally unexpected return of their god, whose season had now expired. They became suspicious and quarrels between the natives and the whites became more frequent. To put it politely, they behaved like elephants in a china shop. They disregarded the customs and habits of their hosts and even buried a Sailor in a place only allowed for chiefs.
When islanders stole the Resolution's large boat to punish their invaders by taking something valuable from them. Cook captured the local king Kalaniʻōpuʻu as a hostage for its return - something he had, by the way, successfully done many times before on his voyages to get what he wanted. However, considerable unrest ensued because the king refused to comply with his transfer to the ship.
When Cook and a few companions came ashore in a small boat, the confrontation escalated. This included the firing of rifle shots and his men trying to get back into the boat and thus to safety. Whether Cook was then killed from behind or stabbed to death because he turned towards the boat and shouted to his men not to shoot is not clear. In any case, he is said to have fallen forward into the shallow water, while the rest of the small crew remaining in the dinghy tried to escape from the danger zone together with their boat without giving their captain any help.

The Death of Cook, John Cleveley the Younger, 1784 (x)
Thus James Cook, as well as four marines and some Hawaiians, died on 14 February 1779.
Tumblr media
Account of Cook’s death written by midshipman Trevenen who was present in Resolution‘s cutter literally only metres away from Cook when he was killed in Carricacoolah Bay, Hawaii, on 14th February 1779. Likely written on board Resolution (x)
After the incident, Captain Charles Clerke took command of the expedition and the Resolution, handing the Discovery over to Lieutenant John Gore. Clerke was wise enough to refrain from reprisals and, through the mediation of the priest and a son of the king, was at least handed over some of Cook's body parts and those of the maritime soldiers, which lasted until 20 February, as his body was dismembered and distributed to several higher-ranking natives, which was not uncommon among the inhabitants of Polynesian space at the time. As a rule, the fragments of respected enemies and chiefs were even given a certain veneration. Cook was identified by a burn on his right hand that had occurred years earlier in New Zealand. A burial at sea was held for him in the bay on 21 February.

The next day, the ships departed for home. News of Cook's death reached England by land six months before the ships returned home. His successor tried to continue the mission, but failed at 70° 33' N due to the pack ice, which seemed even stronger than the previous year. On the return voyage to Petropavlovsk, Captain Clerke died at the age of 38. Virginia-born Lieutenant Gore, who had already taken part in Cook's first Pacific voyage, led the expedition back to England, where it arrived on 6 October 1780.

Heart of Dragon Fire, Soul of Phoenix Flame, & Ocean Blood of Sea Fairy
Chapter 1: Verse:
The Land and the Seas, She Calls To Me, Her Long Lost Child Home:
Ever since I could remember
Ever since I was a child
Every night in my dreams
I have always heard an earth voice
I have always heard an ocean song
A voice of fire and a song of flame that sounds serene, tranquil, calm, & melodic
An ocean song voice that was matriarchal, loving, & kind
An earth voice that was paternal, protective, & caring
A song that somehow sounds like the very ocean itself
A voice that somehow sounds like the very earth itself
An ocean song that sounds so recognizable to me
As a Southeast Asian Vietnamese or Kinh Indigenous and East Asian Chinese or Hoa person of color
An earth voice that sounds so familiar to me
As a Kinh Indigenous and Polynesian Tahitian Indigenous Pasifika
She is calling to me and saying that I am her long lost child
One that was stolen from the Earth, the Ocean, & the Sky a very long time ago
As a displaced state side disconnected diaspora
I know her voice but I do not know her face
I know her song but I do not know her touch
I know her voice but I do not know her embrace
I know her song but I do not know her bond
The land and the sea ever since they were a child
She has called them every night in their dreams
Her long lost child long ago that was stolen from her
A child with a body made of earth, made of ocean, & made of sky
She calls to them with her earth voice
She calls to them with her ocean song
The land and the sea however she weeps and she grieves
She grieves because her long lost child does not know her tongue
The land and the sea though every single night she weeps
The land and the sea though every single day she mourns
She mourns because her child born of fire, flame, & water does not understand her voice
She mourns because her child born with a body made of earth, ocean, & sky does not comprehend her songs
I know her earth voice but I do not know her touch
I know her ocean song but I do not know her embrace
I am a Vietnamese, Chinese or Hoa, French, & Polynesian Tahitian Indigenous Pasifika person of color
I am a displaced state side disconnected Polynesian Indigenous Pasifika and Kinh Indigenous diaspora
The land and the sea she calls to me her long lost child home but I cannot answer her
The land and the sea she calls to them her long lost child home but they cannot answer her
She laments because her long lost child does not know her food
She laments because her long lost child does not know her songs
She laments because her long lost child does not know her dances
She grieves because her long lost child does not know their cultural identity
She grieves because her long lost child doesn’t know their traditions, culture, heritage, & customs
She grieves because her long lost child knows her voice
She grieves because her long lost child does not know her face, does not know her touch, & does not know her embrace
She weeps because her long lost child does not understand her earth voice
She weeps because her long lost child does not comprehend her ocean songs
She weeps because her long lost child with a sea fairy aura has never swam in her seas and has never set foot on her soil
She weeps because her long lost child with a body made of earth, ocean, & sky has never been home
She grieves because her long lost child’s fire dragon heart is not whole
She grieves because her long lost child’s flame phoenix soul is not complete and is trying to heal
She grieves because her long lost child born of fire, flame, & water is split broken pieces trying to become whole
She grieves because her long lost child is lost trying to come home
The land and the sea she calls to me her long lost child home but I cannot answer her
The land and the sea she calls to them her long lost child home but they cannot answer her
I cry because I do not know my traditions, culture, language, customs, spirituality, & heritage
I weep because I do not know my cultural identity
She hopes one day they can answer her because they know her tongue
On that day, she knows she will cry happy tears
She will celebrate because her long lost child does know her tongue
She will celebrate because her long lost child does know her food
She will celebrate because her long lost child does know her songs
She will celebrate because her long lost child does know her dances
She will cheer because her long lost child does know their cultural identity
She will cheer because her long lost child does know their traditions, customs, language, culture, spirituality, & heritage
She will cheer because her long lost child does know their cultural identity
She will rejoice because her long lost child knows her voice, her face, & her touch
She will rejoice because her long lost child knows her embrace
She will rejoice because her long lost child has swam in her seas and has set foot on her soil
She will be proud because her long lost child understands her voice
She will be proud because her long lost child comprehends her songs
She will cry happy tears because her long lost child’s heart is whole
She will cry happy tears because her long lost child’s soul is complete
She will cry happy tears because her long lost child is finally home
On that day she will welcome them home with open arms
Her long lost child with a body made of earth, made of ocean, & made of sky
The land and the sea she calls to me her long lost child home but I will answer her
I will answer her because one day I will know how to speak her tongue
I will cry tears of joy because I do know my traditions, language, culture, spirituality, heritage, & customs
I cry tears of joy because I do know my cultural identity
I will cry tears of joy because my celestial and stellar dragon heart is whole
I will cry tears of joy because my divine and heavenly phoenix soul is complete
I will cry tears of joy because I am healed
I will cry tears of joy because I am finally home

Riverside Eatery
Close to the park, where the river that feeds the lake winds out before curling back into the perimeter of the woods, a restaurant lies on the edge, held up by pier supports. It hosts a balcony that over looks the river on two levels, one closer to the water on a lower floor, with cobblestone steps that lead up to the main part of the restaurant, or a path of seashell embedded limestone, which follows the river with a metal, decorative fence, and snakes it's way back to the main road.
The second floor also hosts an outdoor area, a second balcony to see the water from higher up, as well as a wraparound on the other side if a person prefers to see the foliage of the nearby park instead. Inside is decorated warmly, the walls brimming with familial photos, bright pops of color, in blues browns and oranges. It is well furnished, but not cramped, and smells like spices and herbs and fruits. There is plenty of seating inside as well, and an open window to see into the kitchen. Most of the time, when a beloved regular enters, the chefs may greet them with a call and a wave.
The food changes often, but the plates you get are large and filling and then some. Most of the food is a fusion between Pacific Island and Polynesian, with South American and Dominican delicacies, a combo befitting the two chefs who run Riverside. The flavors are often spicy and fruity and sweet and savory, depending on the dish, but most are intense and enjoyable. They offer a selection of other foods and more commonplace meals as well, to sate most everyone, so most may find a dish they love.
The family is run by the Rivera-Flores Family, a hardworking husband and wife, and their children. Their eldest helped for the longest time with the running of the restaurant as a waiter, but eight years ago he disappeared for a few months, and seven years ago, he vanished entirely and hasn't been seen since. The family still mourns him, and has an offrenda assembled for him as well as a small, colorful memorial on the lower level.
Now, their second and third eldest manage things and take up the yoke of responsibility. Their eldest daughter, Violetta-Rosa, is one of the most dependable workers anyone could ask for and mans the hostess stand as well as seats guests when needed. Her twin, "Hemlock" also works the tables, though she is known for a less warm and more honest approach with customers, and seems to take relish in kicking out troublemakers (she's been known to play pranks as well, but only on friends or family and in a way that does no harm to the restaurant). The younger daughter, Clementine, also tries to assist, though due to her age (12) she isn't given much responsibility. Instead, she may help with food preparation the night before, or she watches her youngest brother, Caspian (4), either at the restaurant or at home, the next-door building to the restaurant, where her family live when not manning Riverside.

Peter Potamus headcannon
Imagine the milieu: That old favourite of his, somewhere in Polynesia Uncharted. Where we find Peter Potamus, and maybe a nephew and/or niece of his being brought along to share the uncle's fondness for the mystically fascinating side of the Polynesian, in the shallows of some remote and yet primitive island, native gals in tow as well--and the whole party naked, in keeping with the custom, when a dolphin approaches Peter's party.
One, it turns out, of remarkable friendliness as can't help but welcome Peter's company to such extent that this particular dolphin is rather excitable, to the bemusement of the native gals--enough so to stand somewhat (Peter being in waters waist-high to him) and perhaps want a hug, followed by the dolphin's rolling over on his back and showing his aroused state rather proudly ... which the charmer of a hippo plays along with, to the dolphin's delight.

ok so first off: the zoey split is an awesome idea and i love the fact that ur bringing back molly for this. but im curious abt them and also your rewrite in general for example, zoeys title in td is 'the indie chick' and she has a lot of lines abt being an outcast and nobody really liking her at home. she has pretty obvious self-esteem issues at times, so im curious if this will transfer into your new zoey? and what would happen to commander zoey? do u lean more into the radioactive aspect of camp wawanaka now or is it just. gone. are any other characters drastically changed?
I’m so happy you like the idea! Okay here’s how things go down in the rewrite
Molly gets the indie chick label while Zoey gets a brand new girl next door label, her insecurities about being lonely aren’t because she was an only child anymore but because she actually recently moved to Canada and has been struggling to make friends and adapt to the country’s customs (I really want to make her Polynesian btw) this would also give a bit of an ironic twist to the girl next door label which I think is a bit funny.
Commander Zoey is still a thing! I’m my rewrite Molly and Mike basically get voted out back to back so Zoey’s snap has more to do with her losing the two people she was closest to instead of just Mike, I like to think a few of the skills Zoey get as Commander Zoey were taught from Molly :)
I’m still very undecided on wether to lean on or against the toxic waste gimmick because I think it makes the season unique but idk how I’d utilize it or take advantage of it.
Zoey is the most drastically changed character but Scott get more strategies besides throwing challenges and doesn’t get maimed by fang, Mike learns to coexist with his alters (and trust me I do not mean by integrating/fusing) and Dakota also get some changes with her elimination episode actually being one were she gets tired of Chris’ bull so she locks him and Chef up in a closet and hosts the episode and everyone has a ton of fun and once Chris get out Dakota quits right before he can fire her.
Also a gimmick I wanted to play with more is the gen 1 cameos, I think it’d be fun if one contestant of the first Gen would cameo every episode and maybe even had some challenges themed or created by them (I have some ideas already for Harold and Katie and Sadie)

Lingshan Hermit: A Tale from the Borderlands
In the planet we live in, there are hundreds and thousands of cultures. These cultures vary in levels, some being of high moral standard while others low; some are good and some are bad. In recent years, the most preposterous story I have read regarding cultural differences is this: A person migrated to Polynesia in the Pacific Ocean. One day she took a public bus to go shopping in the city. After boarding the bus, she found there were no vacant seats left. A local girl stood up and offered her a seat. After sitting down, the girl looked around and then casually sat on a man's lap in a natural manner. At first she thought the man was the girl's boyfriend, but then more and more women got on the bus and each of them chose a suitable man and sat on his lap. Both the women and men seemed comfortable with this and showed no discomfort. Only then did she realize this was part of the local culture. However, the author did not criticize this practice. On the contrary, she even admired this culture, feeling that as an East Asian, she carried too much cultural baggage and was far less unrestrained compared to these natives. I'm not surprised by this. I'm just curious whether she would be affected emotionally if one day she saw her own husband intimately holding a strange woman on a public bus.
In recent decades, people all over the world have been bombarded by all kinds of media and self-media. So it's not surprising they have developed this kind of mindset and way of thinking. To demonstrate their tolerance, modern people tend to respect all kinds of trashy cultures. (There are also many such "goddesses of mercy" in Buddhism. They say everyone should be equal and non-discriminatory. Although they have an ordinary person's body, they speak like a saint. Remember, if you are still an ordinary person on the path of cultivation, speak like one, from the perspective of an ordinary person, based on the truth of causality, and be clear about what is good and evil, what should and should not be done. Do not spout nonsense about non-discrimination. Unless you can casually chop off your own leg and feed it to a tiger, don't speak words of the saintly state.) But I have never been this kind of person. Those familiar with me know I look down on white leftists very much. So I don't intend to respect this custom or culture, nor do I want to exhibit broad-minded tolerance. The reason many people are tolerant of this culture is because they do not see its impact on your life and cultivation. If they could see the consequences it would bring, their tolerance would vanish instantly.
Now it's the 21st century. You can fly from Beijing to New York in just over ten hours. So this is no longer the time of Mirror Flowers and Moonlight in the Tang Dynasty. In those days, how those distant islanders lived their lives was irrelevant to you, because they would not appear in supermarkets near your home. Their children would not go to preschool with your children or marry your children. But now the situation is completely different. Every day, hundreds of thousands of people cross borders into the United States. They come from South America, Africa, the Middle East, all over the world. In the past decade, Guangzhou, China has added over 500,000 African immigrants. These people bring their lives, cultures, eating habits and worldviews to their new countries. When there are enough of them, their cultures will influence or even replace yours.
I have never been a supporter of multiculturalism. I've always said it's a scheme of the demon king. The confusion of values multiculturalism brings makes right and wrong no longer right and wrong. Perhaps in the not-too-distant future, you'll see the scenes on Polynesian buses happen on subways and buses in Guangzhou. Some say those islanders act that way because they are carefree, but that's not carefreedom, that's shamelessness. If you want to cultivate, you must first know what is shame. This is not only the foundation of cultivation, but also a standard for defining your humanity.
In recent years I have seen multiculturalism running rampant around the world. Through movies, music and media, they reshape mindsets worldwide and slaughter the traditional cultures of nations. The biggest victim is women. Thirty years ago, if a woman with a boyfriend had a male friend, she would be condemned by many. But now this is no longer unusual news. Many women righteously proclaim it is their right. And many support this claim. This is the result of the intrusion of backward cultures. If multiculturalism continues to develop, it's not impossible that one day you'll see the Polynesian bus scene happen on subways and buses.
We are all victims of multiculturalism. Although that shocking Polynesian scene has not occurred, other things are slowly happening, greatly impacting your life and cultivation: They make you unable to find a husband, unable to truly trust others, unsure of how to get along with people or communicate, unsure of how to be a disciple. Multiculturalism, under the guise of inclusion and equality, is causing you to gradually degenerate into a barbarian, crumbling the foundation of cultivation built by sages over thousands of years.

do mfs legit do gameplays where they replace Sulami lots/housolds with shit like SPAS AND HOTELS!?!!?!, the only PUBLIC lots i ever replaced in Sulani with a diff builds that slightly served diff purposes were replacing one bar w a restaurant 💀 all other lots i keep the same for the sake of the world's lore it just feels off to change a world and sims that clearly heavily mirrors Polynesian islands with islands of Hawaii being labeled as the main inspirations; regions which have been highly stripped of their riches, hijacked, colonazied, treated like amusement parks for entitled rich people, contributing to land & sea pollution and who's indigenous population have had their cultures diminished, appropriated etc. I KNOW ITS a simulation game blahblahblah, i obv know Sulani doesnt exist dog, but its quite clear that the world and its the sims are heavily inspired/mirror cultural aspects of those Islands and their indigenous people, customs, spiritual believs, folklore, food, garbs etc. like the inclusion of real life roots/drinks/foods like Kava and Taro who are real life staples in many indigenous cultures within the Islands in Hawaii (not only just included within those cultures ofc but in many others as well, esp. Taro i believe), THE FACT that one of the main storylines ur sim follows in Sulani is about POLLUTION within the island with ur sim choosing to positively, neutrally or if ur playing an evil ass sim negatively contribute to the level of pollution which starts to increasingly affect the island's overall environment like can it be MORE OBVIOUS LMAO; but like doing a cartoonishly evil twirly mustache sim type gameplay i would argue is more silly and very different than actually mirrorring exactly what happens within that region in real live and the attempt to erase traditional/cultural elements or hijack them into a "themed" hotels or spas so like seeing people basically being like "u know that awful shit Hawaii people have to experience and esp. experienced during c*vid with influencers FLOCKING to their islands and leaving locals to fall ill to the point of overcrowded hospitals etc etc? hm how about i just do basically the same thing in this game i can be a damn mermaid in and replace all the original sims, do whitewashed "makeovers" that stripe character from them compared to every other world, replace existing lots and hosehold with to mid mega mansions..yeah that sounds pretty cool 😀" like idk if ppl are gonna get gen. upset about my opinion LMAO bc again this is my opinion cant control what ppl choose 2 do w their online game but at the same time is it not boring to have a life simulator where u can be a werewolf, mermaid, vampire, ghost, plantperson or whatever and choose to make it just as boring as real life is? i mean thats basically taking gen. complaints ppl have on EA making shit dull on any world that isnt meant to mirror an american surbuban neighborhood/metropolis and choose to take the few that acc have some different nack and e-gentrify them LMAO like idk dog i havent been able to play this game in some time but even though i rarely play household living esp. in Sulani ive never felt like hm this household with the island elder sims are meant to seek advice esp. spiritual from who wants to pass down generational knowledge to her next of kin would be much cooler if it was a 2 story box with walls made out of jumbo windows 😵‍💫😵‍💫 but thats just me and how i did my gameplay (in past till i get my pc fixed...one day...one day 🙏) but yeah random opinion from useless Casper the Friendly Ghost ovah here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Historical equivalences & differences
Mersuit emulating the history of Sweden.
Shoshoni as something somewhat similar to a developed amerindian old westerns' United States of America...
Widespread appeal of Asetism (Monasteries, humility and introspection, likewise to Jains and Buddhists) & Taizhou (Tala-e-Fonua equivalent) as key major worldly religions
No Woodrow Wilson, progressive major successes in the 1910-1945 equivalent.
More long-term sustainable and successful generational pathway in the 1960s-2000 period, still leading to a slow partial ecological collapse like in the Incatena reality just about around the mid 2045-2050 period with signs of decay arising from the 2020s. So the sapient peoples are more cooperative and empowered with the people that era and won't see as much of the managerial crisis sparks until the mid-2020s.
The global pandemic hit during the early 2000s alongside the dawn of ecological issues coming ahead (giving a slight headstart to fully figure problems coming not that far ahead), just around the time of nanotech synthetic autonomous androids emergence and a handful of alternatively successful technical progressions making them a slight bit ahead of ours on a couple fields. No mainstream autonomous governance AI service grids or really crazy Sci-fi innovations just yet, but a fair share of orphaned developments we did not have continue in this world.
A couple of benevolent worker cooperatives like Pflaumen (DEC+ZuseKG), EBM (IBM+ICL) & Utalics (Symbolics+Commodore+GNU Foundation)... continue well into the 21st century and persist as major computation players in the tech industry, averting the immediate rise of Macroware (Microsoft), Avant (Google) & Maynote (Meta) by the ill-conceived social medium strategy.
[ More to be written... ]
POSTFACE
All may be subject to heavy changes still (but especially everything global map related), so take it with a large pinch of salt, please. Thanks for reading btw and farewell to soon!
