"no kink at pride" how about no that one specific queer that works at the city parking office at pride because they betrayed the community when they fucked me over in a not-fun way like three times by not explaining anything about the impossible to understand regulations and rules and then acting like I'm dumb for assuming such ridiculous notions as "renewing a parking permit for two people would renew a parking permit for two people and not just the first person listed on the permit"

In police state America, selling fruit without first asking the state's permission can and does result in vile treatment. How dare the peasantry engage in voluntary exchanges without government approval? 😒

“Italian Guilty of B.L.C.A.; Dumps Liquor Police Raided,” Toronto Globe. July 16, 1932. Page 3. ---- (Special Despatch to The Globe.) Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., July 15. - Lino Diamantino, West End Italian, was fined $500 and costs when he appeared before Magistrate Andrew Elliott in Police Court this morning, charged with having liquor in his possession not gained on his permit. The accused’s arrest followed a police raid in which eighty gallons of raisin mash, forty gallons of grape wine, a quantity of raisin wine in a forty-gallon container, a ten-gallon sealed keg, and a bottle of whiskey were found in the basement of accused’s house that had been fitted up as a drinking room. Diamantino pleaded guilty. ‘Have him empty it down the sewer himself,’ Magistrate Elliott instructed Sergt. J. Johnston, who carried out the raid, after the case had been disposed of.

Driving with Autism
I had hoped that my son would learn to drive.  And then I hoped that he wouldn’t.  Either way, there were going to be consequences.  Not driving meant learning to use public transportation and certainly involved advance planning if public transportation was unavailable.  Not driving also meant considerable inconvenience for me as the parent.  And so, I was both thrilled and terrified the day my…

I think people need to be more comfortable with illegalism and I’m not kidding. Of course the more legal something is, the safer and easier it is to do, but the more people who disregard the law, the harder it is to enforce. There are plenty of laws on the books that people just ignore and are never or rarely policed.
Becoming more comfortable with little illegal activities makes you more comfortable with bigger more important illegal activities. Additionally, it is crucial to build a wall of silence. Nobody talks everybody walks.
People who give out food without a permit, hold a march without a permit, grow a garden without a permit, are more likely to be people you could turn to to work with on preventing an eviction, or keeping people out of cop hands, or helping your friend Jane get crucial healthcare when it’s not legal in your state.
Communities comfortable with these acts won’t call the cops, and then nobody knows that it’s happening.
People have got to shift from both the idea that lawful = good/ illegal = bad, and that the illegality of something means that’s the end of it, and the only fight left is to make it legal again.

idk to me it’s just like,,,black people coined the phrases say her name and rest in power for a reason and im gonna focus specifically on say her name because it was black women who wanted to call attention to the systemic violences that we have faced that have resulted in the deaths of so many of us which were left unrecognized. it was specifically addressing an issue within the black community wherein black femicides (particularly at the hands of the police/intimate partners) were not given the same spotlight as the murders of black men. we are always forgotten in life and in death and that is part of why the violence against us has been permitted to continue to the point that we are at a significantly higher risk of homicide than any other race. and the statistics are even more grim for black transwomen and femmes. for every nonblack victim of transphobic violence that gets recognition in their horrific death, there are 10 black victims whose names we never know. like that is the whole point of the phrase this shit is life or death for us and we know that the moment race is decontextualized from the nature of the phrase then that is when we are once again forgotten. but yall are acting like we’re trying to start genz tiktok lingo/aave co-opting discourse.

Parking in disabled spaces without a disabled permit
Over the course of this semester, students have noticed more incidents of cars without disabled designations parked in marked disabled spaces. Normally this comes with a major fine, since there are disabled people who need these spaces. The Catalyst spoke to the New College Campus Police Department (CPD) about this occurrence. A dispatcher at the CPD informed the Catalyst that the best way to…
