notes on Polari:

like Chiffon, he's half-Astral (half-Pengy in his case, hence the coloration and bird feet). unlike Chiffon, since Pengy don't have their own magical way of reproduction, Dedede and Meta had to use a Nova to wish on.

he's about a teenager age-wise, was born when Kirby and Fluff engaged and was Nova's age when Chiffon was born. yes, he's about as tall as Kirby already and he's got more growing to do. he's gonna end up bigger than his astral dad

his wings are covered in short smooth feathers and not fit for flight (thanks to Dedede's Pengy genetics) - at least within planetary atmosphere. he'd fly in space tho, since they make him an excellent swimmer.

feathers have partially changed to his adult coloration, so a couple more molts should even out the color. for now he's kinda marbled

the alula which for astrals is a proper thumb is underdeveloped for now and would be hidden under feathers if they were any longer

yes he lifts.

skilled with swords, hammers and polearms, uses staff as an everyday weapon. his favorite weapon, however, is a poleaxe, and he can switch to it when needed because...

HE'S GOT ICE BREATH BABY. i HC Dedede to be a Pengy after all, and explain his lack of Ice ability (along with him being able to change his kit nearly on the fly with various possessions) with him having magical hyperconductivity - a disorder/defect in one's magical makeup that strips them of their natural elemental affinity, but instead grants them affinity of their environment. (A Burning Leo or a Hothead with that condition upon being put into oceanic environment for a prolonged time would suddenly find itself spewing water instead of fire, for example.) Polari, however, does NOT suffer from the same condition, meaning he's got a built-in Ice ability he can use however he wants. which means ICE. FUCKING. HATCHET.

That blogger is one of the nastier people in this fandom. I really wouldn’t give their opinions even five seconds of consideration.

I don’t think Louis “speaks Polari” as in, I doubt he could have an entire conversation using that language. But he absolutely knows what it is. It’s idiotic to think someone as well-versed in queer history as he is (evidenced by the bears, among other things) wouldn’t know what Polari is.

Nobody speaks about that account because they’re constantly trolling the fandom trying to make people think they’re connected to Louis and Harry.

also fun fact that i couldn't put anywhere else in polari's post so have it here

while i was brainstorming polari's wings (bc i wanted to keep astral's "dragon wings that are feathered and look angelic enough" brand of weird with penguin thing of wings not usable for flight) and ended up using aquatic and semi-aquatic mammals like walruses and seals for extra inspo and ended up with THIS

this is what polari's wings gonna look when he grows older. POWERFUL water paddles.

hi gina ! i’m doing an essay for my sociology class at the moment about the term double consciousness and i’m talking about queer people in the 50’s. i brought up polari and the slang that gay men used to use to communicate with one another and it just kind of hit me all over again, the fact that louis wore their brand!! i’ve never doubted the fact that louis’ gay, but oh my god?? how can people possibly deny the fact that he’s gay, especially taking polari into account? it’s kind of undeniable and insane to me when i really think long and hard about it.

Yeah, I thought that was such a loud thing for him to do, too.
