While walking through a pokemon reserve to take pictures I noticed an eevee with floppy ears! Basically all eevees ive seen on my adventures have had standing ears!
ah, a lop-eared eevee! i've seen a couple in my time.
eevee are kind of known for a host of weird mutations that pop up randomly. it's part of their whole genetic...everything lol. but not all of those mutations are particularly helpful! lop-eared eevee occur when a mutation affects the structure of their ears, causing them to be unable to hold the weight of their ears up. this makes them prone to ear infections/dental difficulties and also makes it much harder for them to hear predators, which is why you rarely see them in the wild- they don't tend to survive long enough to breed.
i've seen all of one lop-eared eeveelution, a captive-bred eevee that later evolved into a sylveon. thankfully his owner did not allow him to breed and pass on the mutation, and as far as i know, he's still kicking and enjoying a good life (and extra ear exams)

Any tips on Magnemite? I found the little one pretty banged up, so I took them home and polished them up, trying to tend to their injuries. They seem to be on the up and up, but I've never cared for a Pokemon who is more... inanimate object than animal.
Well, lucky for you, I know a thing or two about steel types from my time caring for Sylvester.
You want to make sure they are receiving iron rich foods or supplements.
You can easily get this in many forms, or in powders, you can sprinkle over other food.
If their body is rusted at all, you need to first use a wire brush to get rid of excess rust and then get them in a special bath that can oxide the rest of the rust off.
After that, you want to get a special powder to fill in any deep scratches on their body. It's similar to a sandy metal.
After that sets, a light sanding, polishing, and buffing will set them right.
They still need to eat, rest and some they have a lot of electricity, you'll want to make sure they aren't over charged or discharging, so you can easily get them measured and checked at a pokemon center.
If all of this goes well, the little guy should be okay. If there are any persisting issues, you should take them to a specialist and have them examined even closer.
Hope that helps!

It's been a day of two halves here at the Hostel. The morning was a pretty standard Saturday for us, taking care of our Guests and enjoying our morning together.
The afternoon was a bit more unnerving, as I decided to follow up on the Doctor's advice regarding B.B's jaw. I ended up using a tap hammer and a small chisel, and slowly chipping away a little bit at a time, so as not to hurt him.
It took all afternoon, but we got it done. I made a before-and-after picture for reference:
Tumblr media
I personally find the end result to be..... well, both striking, but also not so. At first glance, B.B just looks like a typical Beartic. It's only when you contrast his appearance with other Beartic, or like with the picture above, that the change stands out to you.
Hopefully this will help maintain the health and strength of his jaw.

i'm seeing a lot of Pokémon SV DLC analyses where people say 'Oh, Kieran's fixation on Ogrepon is because he sees it as a path to strength; Carmine's bullied him long enough that his shield against admitting his weakness to himself is adoring a legendary creature'. And don't get me wrong – these interpretations certainly hold water – but I've actually been working from basically the opposite angle for all this time.
By all means, Kieran idolises strength, but he inhabits Carmine's shadow – he's the weak sibling, and probably has been for a long time. Yet, rather than fixate on the fantastical power of the Loyal Three, he identifies himself with Ogrepon – the downtrodden, ostracised creature cast out to eke out a subsistence. A terrible demon that wasn't quite terrible enough to cause anyone any lasting harm. The creature defeated by heroes, rather than the perfect, heroic figureheads themselves. He's enamoured with the downtrodden; he sees himself in its grief, in its being cast out and excluded. He's been cast out and excluded all his life (and he can't be a bad person, right? It's not fair – he's hated senselessly, surely, rather than for some reason?) – he sees himself as harmless; so the ogre, too, must be harmless, mis-blamed. Strength is thus in resistance; in growing a shell to tolerate others' inexplicable cruelty. So Kieran looks to Ogerpon, and he thinks that the meek shall inherit the earth, and it gives him the strength to tolerate long nights with poor company. Others are villains – not him, not this creature – and he's safe in the knowledge that at the end of the day, at least an ogre can go down in mythology as the putative sole survivor of its trials.
In this sense, Kieran's like Penny – he finds himself in a position of weakness, of being victimised, and forms himself an armour of being an underdog, of being the thing that bites back. Yet while Penny's position is that the underdog might muster the strength to bite back and restore justice, Kieran's view is that at least the underdog was worth loving. He's inert and preoccupied with his inertia. He can't understand that maybe he could be a human, with the capacity to grow, the capacity to sin. And when Carmine is cruel to him, he reaffirms his own contrarian mindset more – she says I am worth little for my weakness, so my weakness is all I am worth; my weakness is my strength.
And yet he chases strength, because he has to to survive. So when the player comes by, and supports him, maybe he has the safety to walk away from his preoccupation with being an underdog, to enjoy strength for strength's sake. And then, he starts losing, but this time, there are stakes, since he can't just withdraw and be consoled by the fact that withdrawing is right, is right, is right. Thus, he must get stronger. And then, when Ogerpon turns out to favour Juliana, who's become Kieran's idol for all that strength means, rather than Kieran, who's Kieran's selfsame designated weaklingpatheticscumidiot——well, what can Kieran do but fracture, since his whole ideology, his whole premonition that he might have the right to inherit the earth, has been fractured? And, under stress, he pivots from one extreme to the other. All he knows is that weakness is now unbearable. He must get stronger. Must get stronger. Must get stronger—because otherwise he's doomed, he's nothing. He has no myth to dissolve his identity in any longer, so he reshapes himself around the only other standard he's ever known. And it twists him and it breaks him into tiny pieces, because suddenly, the last thing he can bear to be is Kieran: Kieran, the downtrodden and meek boy. He has to flip on his axis; he must become the designated villain of his story by popular imagination, or else be subsumed in the fact that he's going to die someday without any place in the world. He has to play a part, because he's been consigned to one so long, and he can't think of anything other than heroes and villains, enemies and martyrs. He can't be the bad guy. Strength is now goodness; weakness is now evil. And he can't reconcile who he thought he was with who he must become, and as a result, all he can do is try to destroy the person who's destroyed his ideology.

Hi, I recently adopted a uh well zebstrika, she's an older one, used to be a racer, but she's retired, I've noticed she tends to lay down a lot, should I be worried about collic?
zebstrika are generally much less prone to colic than mudsdale and rapidash. it's very likely she's just lying down because she's old, and older pokemon tend to spend more time in states of deep rest. older electric types in particular can be prone to sore, fatigued muscles from mini contractions caused by electricity flowing through the body.
that being said...call your vet if you're worried. please don't ask a random blogger about your pokemon's health issues.

Person who asked about Galarian Ponyta. Thank you for the information! Do you have any care tips for one? I spent some time in Ballonlea and fell in love with the area. I would see sparse glimpses of Ponyta while there, but I've come to befriend one. I've noticed that they pick up on my migraine issues that I have and they've been able to help soothe them. I'd love to have them as my partner, but I want to make sure that I'm able to care for them to the best of my ability.
-🦄
It's always great when friendships bloom.
They are going to need space to run, preferably with elevation and things to climb upwards as they are more accustomed to moving upwards in galar.
If you live close to a big city, then that could be detrimental to them as pollution and the massive amount of people, emotions, and conflicting hearts can make them feel overwhelmed and unwell.
The name of the game is to keep them in as similar of an environment as possible.
You'll also want to see if you have an area near you with a very rich natural energy to it, something they could rest in and regain some energy.
Search your area for places that have a high concentration of Fairy Types and see if it would work for them.
I'd also consult with any professionals or professors to get their input.
I hope it works out.

It’s okay to feel like you aren’t anywhere where you want to be in life right now, because just like how it takes time for a flower to grow, we also need time and patience to grow.
The more we take care of own mental and physical health, the more it will help us grow and blossom into beautiful flowers of our own.
You will get to where you need to be, just be patient and take your time, you’re still growing, my beautiful flower. 💕
Palmon character is from Digimon.

It's been a long day today.
After a busy day at the office, I got home, made an early dinner for everyone, then left my neighbours watching over everyone while I headed with B.B to catch two trains out to Driftveil City, for an appointment with one of the few Pokemon Doctor who's willing to work evenings (for a premium), to get B.B the checkup I organised for him after talking with Ranger-Rai.
99% of the diagnosis was as expected for an older Pokemon with several years of battles under their belt, and the treatments are the same as what we've been doing up until now.
I say 99%, because the Doctor made one suggestion that caught us both out. They said that, given all the wear and tear on B.B's jaw, we should remove the icicles under his jaw, to reduce the weight on said jaw, and that from now on I should instead 'shave and shape' the ice to create a kind of protective barrier around it.
I discussed it with B.B on our way back, and he's willing to try it.
So here I am at midnight, drinking a much-needed cup of tea, making this post, and looking up ice sculpting tools that I can safely use on B.B.
As I've mentioned before, you can say plenty of things about life with Pokemon, but it's rarely boring.
