OKAY LISTEN UP. I've been trying to logic at Pokémon types and I feel like I made sense of most of them, but as you can see I have some that I'm still...big unsure of. Plz help me make sense of the nonsense. I also published the spreadsheet here!
(also shoutout to Pokémon Aaah! for precise hex color values because ofc I had to)

Today’s number: 432! When I was a kid I didn’t really like this one much. Now I have an appreciation for the big cat.

Redrawing the Pokédex 46 - Paras I wanted to redo Paras for some time now. Does it look better now? I don’t know. It is one of the more complicated mons to draw, I just can’t get its shape right... Under the cut is my first try and now that I look at it again, I think I did better.

Right after Maylene’s boss fight in DPPt, there’s an event where the assistant NPC loses their Pokédex and has to take it back from Team Galactic. This did in fact happen to Kouki, but since there’s no context as to why it happens in canon, I figured it was a good opportunity to come up with some good old Amano BS(tm)
The story he told is that he dropped it on his way to the Game Corner and a group of grunts found it before him. This is technically true, but he was deliberately vague to make people assume his Pokédex was stolen. What really happened is that he snuck into the Galactic warehouse to scout it out for clues, got found and took off in a hurry, dropping his Pokédex in the process. He didn’t want anyone to find out because he was afraid of losing his job in case Rowan found out he was doing something so reckless.

one key sign that preuzien’s pokémon were made for military/government rather than civilian usage is that many of their abilities and moves affect allies in ways that are less useful in a traditional 6v6 than they are on a battlefield. for example, when designing preuzien variants, friedrike skyherald figured out how to copy the signature ability of a shenhuanese (chinese) legendary, an ability called law of iron--which multiplies by 1.5x the power of any move that comes directly after a supereffective hit on the pokémon or its allies. this is much more useful in a battlefield setting, where many allies are on the field and thus there are many more opportunities for a pokémon on your side to be hit with a supereffective attack. there’s also the move regift, which drains HP from an opponent and heals an ally rather than the self, which doesn’t have any use in 1v1s and only appears in the rare double battle. this makes sense because there’s not really many opportunities in warfare to get a true 1v1 with an opponent. but if you take an ability like law of iron and apply it to huge swaths of your army--now that can be fucking devastating.
