When you vibrate high you really start to resent the things that disrupt that kind of peace. My body started to reject alcohol, certain foods, even certain kinds of men. I realized I was heavily trapped in the habit of allowing myself to be consumed with drama. Most of my time was spent running away from such feelings ( of peace ) instead of leaning in. Living in a constant state of turmoil made me feel like I had some control over a life I felt was chaotic.

Something whispered to me soft and with great intention “choose freedom”

I am cutting loose threads that kept me bound to broken men and unhinged insecurities. I am hearing myself instead of longing to be heard. Friendships is in so many ways are our deepest and most intimate relationships.

I chose to surround myself with women who invest in me emotionally and motivate me to be my absolute best. I confide in them my biggest fears and sometimes the most personal parts of my life and the feeling is reciprocated.

I think we often underestimate the complexities of human connection and how deeply people bond. The love of my life at this stage in my life is not a romantic partner but my inner circle of girlfriends. These are the people I wanna hear from. The people I wanna get dressed up for and go out for a night on the town. I want brunch dates, silly rituals we abide by, a shopping buddy, someone to tell me I look great and be honest when I don’t, people to share jokes with and go on girls trips.

I’m finding that the root cause of my loneliness as an adult stems from my memories of the days when we did just that.

Just a couple of silly college girls navigating the city the way WE wanted. I miss the gossip, the many times we broke bread together, those late nights dodging ugly men at the club, the sleepovers, and so much more. I long so deeply for the days when we’d get drunk and sing at the top of our lungs to songs that reminded us of better days.

No one ever talks about the feelings of loneliness that come creeping into your 20s… there’s no right way to prepare you for this kind of breakup. I left my girls in different parts of the world… they’ve moved on and made new friends and I’m here still holding on to what used to be. I miss them like hell .

This is by far the hardest long distance relationship I’ve had to deal with and I can’t wait for the day when we’re 30 somethin’, successful, and taking on the city again as the women we used to dream of becoming .
