What I mean: "You only have eyes for him!" is my favorite line in malevolent (on par with "I will not let you drown." even) because as clever-written lines usually are, it works on a metaphorical level, yes, but also on a very literal one; Arthur said himself that he had nothing and nobody else but John, all his loved ones are dead, his life is ruined, if he loses him too then what reason is there left for him to keep on living? Arthur also needs John both on a physical and almost spiritual level to stay alive, John sees for Arthur to keep them both from dying, but Arthur have mortal eyes for John to see through for the first time, to grow and change... that is, technically, Arthur's only purpose in this story. He cannot have his sight back because then he would truly have nothing else, those eyes are only for John now. But Arthur living for John (and ironically dying for him too) isnt completely selfless devotion because Arthur is DETERMINED to survive no matter what, no matter what happens to him, and he needs John for that, both as his sight and his purpose, so of COURSE he wants him back, but just how much of that desire is out of genuine love for John as a person, or out of Arthur's own self-interest to stay alive because deep down he KNOWS he is nothing without him, is unclear, possibly (or even most likely) to even Arthur himself. And much of all of that thought process must be the same on John's end. This is the delicious definition of codependency. And the second meaning of that phrase is that "only having eyes for someone" is often used in a romantic way, and Kayne obviously says it in a mocking taunting manner, but Arthur's and John's relationship is physically impossible in nature, the act of sharing a singular body cannot realistically exist and thus I find it hard to categorize their dynamic as purely platonic or purely romantic, it is something else entirely that is pretty hard to pin down personally, if its even possible at all, and if I even WANT TO at all, but I take huge comfort in knowing that there is love there. There IS, undefinable and undeniable, love there. And that makes it fascinating to witness, analyze, and follow it along. What an incredibly well-written story and I'm so glad I decided to give it a listen.

comfort podcast: two way tie between wolf 359 and wrong station! i have only listened to w359 one time but i am CONSTANTLY thinking about it and it is so so good. i love you doug eiffel i love you daniel jacobi i love you renee minkowski. on the other hand i have been a religious listener of wrong station for like four years and it has some of my favorite horror podcast episodes of all time (everyone please listen to episodes 10 and 61, they are so so very good. also listen to episodes 92-94: the hunting of the lathe worm). the choice is impossible

podcast that scares me: oooooo it's another tie i'm afraid. this time between the white vault and the silt verses. the white vault gets me with the sheer unknowability of its horror; there's some explanation in the last season but the core of it remains along the lines of "we know this horrific incomprehensible thing exists and we can't fix it, only make it marginally less bad" and i am HERE for that. inevitable and unrelenting forces of nature my beloveds. and then the silt verses is just. so phenomenal in so many ways. there is so much i could say about it but i think the best example of the way it scares me is the scene in ep 27 when paige and hayward drive through the carnage of their god's birth. that is one of the only podcast scenes that has ever dropped my jaw and made me physically stop in my tracks (closely followed by the watcher in the wings episode and the cave echo angel episode). the horror in the silt verses is so visceral and it does an incredible job of making such a fantastical setting feel so real. i can not WAIT for more (i also stole the entire "there can be a god for anything as long as enough people believe hard enough and make a good enough sacrifice" for my homebrew d&d setting and for that i am eternally grateful)

I stole a copy of All Quiet on the Western Front from highschool to read and then just never started it 😭 so hopefully that one day! I also started Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover and then just abandoned it, so hopefully that one too

Current obsession: Formula 1 babey!! It's taken over my life in an indescribable way 🫣 I have trouble staying in fandoms for a long period of time(because I can only concentrate on one at a time), and not to jinx myself, but F1 seems like it'll be here to stay for a good while! More specifically: my top blorbos Seb and Fernando, whom I am obsessed with (also, but not limited to: Oscar, Mark, Jenson, Max, Mick, etc.) I like to watch older seasons and my favorite era is the V8 era(tho I think I'd generally say 2005-2013), but also my life is taken over constantly by the current season :D also obsessed with gifing races and downloading way too many pictures :,)

hrmmmm i was thinking about this post that came on my dash.. though i absolutely agree that the marketing for this movie was fucking bonkers in how unnerving it was, i don't actually know if i necessarily agree with the first point/the implication that the primary point of the story is to condemn people or encourage them to self-reflect about whether they would have watched the hunger games or not. the book isn't really about the merits of individual consumption, i don't think? it virtually never places any blame on average downtrodden citizens who watch! they put up big tvs in the town squares, people are more or less forced to watch! the meaningful action the story calls for is never "just boycott watching it", right? the way the evil government is defeated is through violent revolution, not through people just boycotting the reality shows. i don't think it's intended to condemn the people who watch, or that we're meant to go "would we have watched it or not?" to the extent that it is a critique of reality tv, it feels to me as if the critique is placed pretty squarely on the producers and the other people involved in its creation and less so on the viewers. at least that was my read

AN: Oh boy, I never thought I’d actually post some of my hcs, let’s see how this goes. I’m typing this half-asleep on my phone so I apologize for any grammatical or technical mistake, please let me know if anything!!

Let’s start with setting something straight, Bill does not fall for someone easily nor does he like to sleep around, as he’s said himself. If he’s actually decided on dating you it is a synonym for “I can see an entire future with you and I have probably thought of marriage plans”

No matter how you guys met; whether it was through mutual friends, by chance or were childhood friends, it would take you weeks, months or even years of forming a strong bond before even considering the first date.

Bill has said many times that he believes in love at first sight and probably still does, but fame and people have definitely left him with some major trust issues.

Won’t give you a house key or ask you to move in till he’s completely certain that you’re fully trust-worhy, but he loves having you over with him.

Now that you guys are together, he is the sweetest person on earth, will worship you like you’re a divine creature that landed on earth. He would worship the ground you walk on if he could.

Never-ending honeymoon stage kind of relationship not going to lie-

Will take you out to theme parks, rent out movie theatres, take you on hikes and long walks on a deserted beach.

Don’t be surprised if you ever wake up to a screaming Bill, all hyped because he decided that you’re spending your weekend at Disney.

He is so cheesy but it’s so sweet to see. He’s at a point in his life that he just wants to love and be loved. Kisses on the cheek, opening doors for you, pushing your chair at restaurants. He’s a gentleman.

Till it applies to his fashion. You ARE doomed to help him out of his outfit when he decides to be a bit more daring. Just like he does with Georg and Tom he will do it with you. “y/n you know the drill. When my assistant is not around you’re my assistant now help me out of these shoes”

Speaking of shoes, he is almost 2 meters (and sometimes more) when he wears his platforms and he absolutely loves towering over you. Bill loves to see you reach for a kiss. He will also walk behind you and ruffle your hair to annoy you.

This man is so whipped. He can gush about you for hours on end in interviews, his socials or his podcast.

He would also expose you a lot on Kaulitz Hills because that’s what he does.

He loves physical touch. When you’re walking in downtown LA he will always have an arm wrapped around your shoulders or waist, holding your hand or linking your pinkies.

He has the sneakiest of hands, it’s even worse than Tom. Bill always finds a way to have hand under your shirt or skirt if you happen to wear them. He can’t help it, he loves to feel your skin on his hands.

Back Hugs !!!

You will become his muse. He loves to dress you up however he pleases, you just look so good in everything! Bill will spend so much cash on designer sets to match with you. Only the best for his beloved.

He mostly calls you by your name in public but behind closed doors he would address you by the sweetest names like “My love, Darling/liebling, Pumpkin”

You guys are always out to eat

And at coffee shops

You’re each other’s personal photographers. Plus he absolutely adores to show you off on his instagram

I can see him as the type to start a vlogging channel just to show off how in love and happy he is with you.

Prepare yourself mentally to be woken up early to walk the dogs and drink sour green juice. Bill used to be a tremendous sleeper when he was young but those days are way behind.

When you wake up together, it is the best. He tends to wake up first and will stay in bed just admiring how beautiful you are. Tracing your features with his fingers. He wants to memorize every inch of your skin.

If you take too long though, he will get up and go prepare breakfast. Yes it includes celery juice.

You guys are always hanging with Tom & Heidi! You get into the craziest adventures

Heidi would love you so much, so would her kids. You and Bill are the cool relatives.
