A large part of me is immediately suspicious that the ebook version of the grimoire may have been messed up on purpose in order to force people to buy physical because they realize this is a major reach and likely one person will rip the pdf and then just give it to everyone if they don't. On one hand it's their right to try to avoid piracy, they have to make money, but on the other it would be a tacit acknowledgement this is a scam book lmao
Nah, I think it has more to do with the Grimoire having been so damn rushed it's not only full of mistakes but also caused an printing error and on top of that apparently also messed up the eBook version.
Nah, I actually think he wanted to do something different from SP bc after about a decade of writing about SP he got sick of it. And I still think he’s sick of it looking at how shit phase 2 is.
I’m guessing he was considering joining the universes together bc DR was going badly and if there was a crossover with SP it might boost sales?
But he seems to have decided against it bc he stated on the art livestream that he kept them separated universes so that if someone was to buy the rights for SP or Demon Road they wouldn’t also get the rights for the other series too by courtesy of sharing the same universe. That sounds like a valid enough reason for me to believe him for once tbh.
Landy made a tweet asking people to send him errors they found and I think mooncactus is making a list. I’m not up-to-date with either tbh but you can go ahead and check both out.
Pff, I doubt I even caught half of his errors bc I can’t remember jackshit about the books unless it’s about the nasty bois and in addition to that straight up haven’t read four of the five phase 2 books. Neither can I be fucked to check timeline dates bc, believe it or not, I actually have a life outside of this depressing clusterfuck.
I don’t think he’s doing it on purpose, I just think he’s incompetent and lazy.
I actually wasn’t aware of that. And bold of you to assume that Landy has self-awareness.
I’m actually glad SP doesn’t have a forum dedicated to hating it/Landy bc ‘Twilight’ got popular via people hating on it. I don’t want the same to happen to SP, at this point I just want this series to die so he no longer has a reason to milk it.
I looked it up while the ‘Golden Age of Piracy’ was between the 1650s and the 1730s, apparently Irelands history is full of piracy [source].
“As far back as 400AD, Irish pirates regularly carried out slave raids on Britain – their most famous captive was St Patrick – and nearly 1,400 years later, in 1780, privateers like Luke Ryan were still ravaging British shipping in aid of America’s War of Independence.“
By what I could find piracy was flourishing in Ireland during the 17th century, the specific pirated related issue in the 13th and 14th century, was them threatened the Hanseatic routes and nearly bringing sea trade to the brink of extinction.
While that’s more of a German (/ Northwestern and Central Europe) problem, she could have travelled there as a mercenary to help fight the pirates considering that it has been implied that mages were way more international way sooner than mortals (probably thanks to teleporters).
So technically it’s possible that she fought pirates during that time period tho it would have been more likely in the 17th century.
Keep in mind that this is very shallow and quick research I did here, so correct me if I’m wrong.
What would improve the Grimoire is the remove the Abrogate Raze story completely.
After Abyssinia and Serafina, do you really believe Landy would put any effort in letting these new characters flow into the series organically?
You should know better by now.
If you’re referring to the ‘The Age of The Maggot’ and the ‘Abrogate Raze’ stuff, I disagree. It’s equally as bad if not worse.
Nah, I didn’t read ‘Midnight’.
Sorry, but I only cared about the eye sigil thing bc I could use it for Nef/Mev angst. If the nasty bois ain’t involved I don’t care.
As amusing as that mental image is, I doubt there is an alternative reality where the dumb bitch that hates reading ends up as an archivist lmao
I mean, Landy has been writing for Marvel lately, so I’m not really surprised by these comic-book-level of weird and convoluted storylines. Landy is very impressionable it seems.
If ya want the join link just say the words and ya getting it.
Also, since I’m assuming you’re the one sending me all these asks (?) you could just make a Tumblr and DM me. I answer quicker via DMs tbh.
I’m pretty sure the term you are looking for is ‘Seasonal Rot’.
??? I have no idea what you are trying to say???
I’ve written so many hot takes as of late I don’t know what you are referring to specifically? Or is this just a general statement about the current state of the SP series?
Melancholia got lucky in that regard.
I’m quite amazed how I expected nothing from this Grimoire, yet I’m still let down.
At this point I’m not even sure if Mev canonly knows Skul is Vile or not bc fucking everyone seems to know at this point and I guess everyone is just cool with this???
Skul had reached a whole new level of -never-experiencing-consequences jfc
The Grimoire really does disappoint in each and every aspect, even when it’s not even present in your home.
I straight up don’t know what happened in half the books LMAO
Nope, that’s canon now.
Skulduggery is now the son of the God of the Apocalypse. This series is beyond parody at this point. Makes Twilight look like a fucking master piece in comparison.
#NefarianDidNothingWrong
His jig better be up after book 15 or there is gonna be a riot-!
I already hate time travel plots in general. I hate them even more if they get randomly pulled outta nowhere like this and if they are added to the powers of an already OP character.
I doubt he wanted to say the Ancients ran out of enemies to shear??
