Roommate!Jeno

a/n: maybe i should just turn this blog into an nct dream one

okay

letsgetit!

first of all,

story time!

your uni is fucking expensive and it’s more expensive if you live in the grounds

so you being the wise human,

you went to get an apartment near the campus

it was great and all since roommate!jaemin was paying for his stuff

you were both living respectively until he had to leave

the dumbass didnt even bother to tell you

one morning you just woke up and found his note

‘hey bitch! figured you were too much of a rock to wake up but i moved out! the family wants me to go back home and tend the restaurant’

the whole day yesterday, you were working

bc,,, yknow

broke college life

and you just walked in half asleep towards your room and fell asleep

so you didnt really see or notice

but were you freaking out bc your roommate suddenly moved out?

ofc you were freaking out

not only was your roommate gone,

how were you going to find a new one?!

jaemin expected your phone call that afternoon and he endured through all your screaming

‘babe, i’m just going to be gone for a year-or two’

‘oR tWO?!’

‘hun, my dad’s injured and his back can only let him do so much. ma’s working too much and i dont have any siblings to help. i figured i could just hold off college until my parents are ready’

ugh, jaemin is such a family boy

‘but jaems! you couldnt have at least told me that yOu wERe mOvING OuT?! and! rent is due soon! i can’t pay for that myself!’

jaemin couldve easily told you to warn yoy

but he didn’t want to tell you bc he couldnt handle you sad and didnt want to upset you

however, now jaemin really understands how shitty that move was

‘tell you what. i’ll pay for this month and make a few phone calls and i’ll get you set up with a new roommate, deal?’

knowing how much of a social butterfly he was, you agreed

ofc you trusted jaemin but part of you feared that he might pair you up with a freak

but he’s not that mean, is he?

you can definitely see renjun doing that but not jaemin

so there you are,,

sitting on your couch alone

without jaemin, your apartment felt really empty

its been a few days since he moved and you were miserable

jaemin hasn’t even texted you about that potential roommate

just as you were about to call him,,

your doorbell rang

you froze and you looked at the time

it was nearing 11 at night and you don’t remember ordering delivery

see,,

if jaemin was here,

he would answer it for you since you would be too scared to do it

but you mustered up your courage and peeped through the peep hole

the man was dressed in all black with a black mask and a black cap with his hood over it with a black hoodie and black pants

ngl, you were terrified and trembling

he rang it again and you jumped

typing out a quick text to jaemin saying ‘hey bub, if i don’t text you in an hour, that means ive been kidnapped so call the police’

you grabbed a pan from the cupboard and gulped before you opened the door

thinking he would just walk forward and grab you, you closed your eyes and raised your pan over your head and swung

a shriek from in front of you made your eyes snap open and found the guy on the floor with a fetal position

you both just froze for like a phat minute

snapping back to reality, you held the pan in front of you

‘if youre going to kidnap me, i got a pan and im not afraid to hit you with it!’

you tried to sound intimidating but your voice was shaking so much

the guy stood up and he took off his hat and the mask to reveal a blonde haired kid

okay, so you were sHOokETh

damn! this boy is fine!

he gave you a shaky smile and held out his hand

‘hi! i’m lee jeno! you must be y/n? jaemin told me you had an opening for a roommate?’

now you noticed the two duffle bags at the side

the embaressment and the shame settled in slowly and you found yourself burning up

nodding, you motioned him to come in

jeno awkwardly walked in and was amazed at how big the layout was with the low rent

‘yea, its kinda hard to believe that we only pay that much. at first i thought there was a ghost in here and that’s why its so cheap’

you tried to make small conversation but laughed weirdly at jeno’s slightly terrified face

‘no! there really is not ghost here! ive lived here for a year and there hasnt been anything so please dont understand! please be my roommate!’

you begged and jeno thought you were weird

but jaemin was right, you were weirdly adorable in a way

so that’s how you and jeno became apartment buddies!

now onto the good stuff!

so, jeno is a vv clean guy

like he’s the type to just pick up a wrapper in the street and throw it in the garbage

so naturally, he likes to keep the apartment as tidy and neat as possible

but you being a mess you are,

you usually leave a lot of things everywhere

lets just say you have a short memory

‘oh? how did that get there?’

eventually, jeno gets sick of it and he confronts you with it

ofc you understand and you actually try to be better

since jeno is literally the most perfect roommate

maybe even better than jaemin

(but don’t tell him that)

jeno is the type to re-stock the pantry with snacks and the fridge with ice cream

since youre both college students, ramen is practically always available in the house 24/7

he also makes the coffee every morning since he works early and wakes up first

even though he doesn’t like the drink and prefers milk, he still notices how you survive off of coffee

babie likes to pick you up some iced americano while he gets a frappe

you on the other hand,,

you’re very surprised

when you got to bed after showing jeno around,

you messaged jaemin

ofc he was worried af and was blowing up your phone

‘WHAT?!’

‘bitch answer the damn phone!’

‘whatthe fuck is happening?!’

‘i need to know if you’re still alive!’

‘oh fuck i shouldnt have moved out’

smiling softly at how worried he was, you responded to him

‘you hoe, it hasnt been an hour yet so chillax. i’m alive, unfortunately, and i just met my new roommate. again, thanks for the heads-up. youre so bad at those. i literally thought he was a burgular or a kidnapper. but he seems chill and emo. just my type.’

but jeno is F A R from C H I L L

oh my goodness,,

hes a crackhead

theres this sound he makes when he’s confused and you couldnt figure out if its cute or weird or if he’s doing this on purpose or thats just how he is

you and him basically communicate with memes

sometimes, at the weird hours at night, he sends you a dumbass meme

you cant help but snort

also, you promised to take jaemin out to dinner to repay him for the great roommate

‘hes literally one of the best people youll ever meet. it just so happen he needed a place to sleep. now you owe me’

hes a science major while you were a computer major

he basically brings home weird stuff to analyze and it just hella stinks

but hes considerate enough to actually put it outside

whenever he’s focused, he talks to himself or the thing he’s analyzing

‘okay mr. fishy. your scales are really big and its bigger than average’

its so cute

oof also!

jeno doesnt have a job yet he always makes rent on time with extra money to spare

he even sometimes buys you stuff saying, ‘they reminded me of you’

for your birthday, he bought you a pearl necklace that mustve costed thousands

at first, you thought he was a chaebol or smth

which you wouldve been vv jealous of bc youre a struggling college student who works at the coffee shop

but, you were answered when you caught him walking in half-dazed and half-asleep with cuts all over his face

it was like 2 in the morning and you were pulling an all-nighter for some project and wanted to get a glass of water

but here he is, hood up, lip busted, black eye, cheek cut

you shrieked and ushered him to sit on the dining chair

thinking he got mugged or something, you start drilling him questions

‘hun, if you were beat up, we need to call the police! this is illegal!’

but jeno chuckles and brushes the stray hairs out of your face as you tend to his lip

‘pls dont. if you do, ill be broke and i wont have money to pay rent then i cant be your roommate anymore’

cue confused y/n

‘wUT?’

‘if i dont make money, youll kick me out and youll have to find another roommate. i dont want you to go through that hassle again’

ofc you were flattered that even during this situation, hes still thinking about you

‘how is this making money?!’

‘i cant believe youre oblivious to so many things. i thought for sure youve caught on.’

more confusion

‘eXCUse mE, lEE JEno? since when have you started coming home with all these things in your face?’

you were worried that this wasnt the first time this happened

but if you think hard about it, thats why he always wears his mouth masks and he always has his blonde fringe down and sometimes wears sunglasses even though its cloudy outside

‘ohmygod lee jeno are you in a gang?!’

jeno was shocked that you came to that conclusion but laughed at how adorable you were rn

with your wide eyes and mouth open

‘nah, bro. i box. its the only way i can make easy money.’

‘but,,, why did you hide this from me? if you needed money i couldve helped you’

he looked at you skeptically

‘sis, you could barely afford that muffin the other day’

lee jeno now looked different from the jeno you met the first day

What you thought to be an innocent little squish was a fighter at night

‘yah, can-um-you need to take this off’

you mumbled while tugging on his sweatshirt

he nodded and slipped it off

he explained why he came late when he first moved

‘i had a late night match and yknow,, school and all, i barely had enough time to come'

as you dab the wound, you try to make small talk to distract yourself

‘so,, youve been boxing this whole time?’

you asked, trying not to get distracted to the way his tight shirt clung to him, showing his defined body

there were bruises up and down his arms and his knuckles were busted

‘yea. i have been since senior high. gotta make money, yknow?’

‘but jen, you can work in coffee shops or at local bookstores. its not worth seeing you busted up like this’

your lips trembled at the thought of him being beaten up too hard to the point he gets into a coma

jenos eyes widened at your wobbling lips and he softly cupped your face

‘hey, im okay and ill be fine. you dont have to worry about me. i usually win, anyways’

his confidence made you chuckle

‘i trust you, lee jeno. just make sure to make it home to me every night.’

‘i know you do and i will. always.”

ever since then,

youve become his little caretaker

youve informed jaemin of what hes been doing and he knew but didnt want you to judge him immediately

smh, jaemin really sucks at informing people

but jeno tries to help you keep up

he even sends you texts that hes fighting that night and your little ‘fighting!’ always makes him smile

his manager and friend, chenle, noticed that hes starting to smile more

chenle likes boxing and wants to be a part of it but doesnt want to be hurt

so,, what better to be the manager of his friend

‘yah, hyung. what’s got you giggly today?’

jeno pointed to the screen and giggled at the little good luck gif you sent

his eyes turned to crescents and chenle smirked

‘wah, you like her, don’t you?’

at the mention of ‘like’, his smile dropped and he shook his head

‘no. of course not. shes just a friend.’

chenle being chenle,,

he continues to prod

‘okay. so every night, you make it your priority to make sure you’re home by 2 in the morning for your friend’

smh, chenle youre so annoying

but hes so right

ever since you caught him,

hes been making sure he gets home at the same time

he sends you a text that hes on his way and you set your ringtone at a very high volume so you wake up and take care of him

during fights, he makes it his sole mission to make out of this alive and a winner for you

but that never crossed his mind as his feelings for you

he just thought of it as making you not worry for him

but then, he starts to think about your stupid little habits

the way you make this face whenever you dont understand

or when you still leave little post-it notes everywhere with ideas you come up with

he noticed it all and he loves them

‘hOLy ShIT!’

that night was when he realized his feelings for you and he was so dedicated on finishing it that he quickly won and he dashed home with his money

bursting through the door, you looked at him with wide and startled eyes

‘what’s wrong?’

you came running but he scooped you up to a hug

ok you were confused but relieved that he was home and alright

jeno looked at your face and wanted to confess but chickened out at the sight of you

you were so good to him and honestly, he doesnt deserve you

(his thoughts, not mine)

‘i-i’

he stuttered and you motioned him to continue

‘i won!’

he shouted and you congratulated him, even though he literally won all the time

guiding him to the chair, you began to dab his cuts

(dab that bitch)

‘im starting to think that your opponents either really suck or youre like the god of boxing’

he didnt know how to take that but blushed red at the mention of him being a ‘god of boxing’

‘nah, im just good’

you eyed him and smiled

he continued to watch you heal him and inspected your face

heavy eyebags and sunken cheeks, it mustve been a long night

he felt a pang in his chest thinking that you push your stuff away just to help him

‘you dont have to keep doing this for me, yknow’

you halt and look at him seriously

‘i know i dont. but i cant sleep at night thinking youre in pain and alone when i can be there for you’

even though he just realized it, jeno was pretty sure he fell in love with you a long time ago

but if it was possible, he fell in love with you even more

‘thank you’

his soft voice filled the silence and you vowed that you will always be there for him whenever he needs help

a few days later, jeno hasnt been to a fight

sure you were worried at what was going on in his head but partly relieved that you dont have to see him so battered anymore

but this was so un-jeno

just as you were about to talk to him about it, he announces he got a job at the bookstore down the street

‘huh? i thought you didnt want to work’

you question while he looked sheepish

‘i realized that i was starting to become a burden since you take care of me every time. so i thought i should quit and get a regular job. besides, it doesnt hurt as much’

he laughed but you didnt react

‘lee jeno, you gave up boxing and the money,,, for me?’

he nervously looked up at you and you noticed the redness of his cheeks

‘i-well-if you put it that way’

‘listen to me, im flattered and i truly love that you dont want to get beaten up anymore. but i dont want you to quit something you like because of me'

‘but you always take care of me and push your priorities away to clean me up. i dont do anything in return and i dont think its fair!’

he argued and a soft smile crept up your face

‘yah, lee jeno'

your voice became a whisper

‘it doesnt matter to me if you dont do anything in return bc i dont see this as a favor. you are mine to take care of and i will do anything for you, you understand that?’

he looked at you in shock after hearing your response

he also turned red at the mention of him being yours

‘so-but-i dont think-'

he stutters but you place your hands on his arms making him stop

‘all i ask is you to come back home, to come back to me'

by now, yall were blushing

even though it might not sound like it,

but yall just indirectly confessed to each other

yall stared at the ground and jeno looks up, biting his lip

‘hey, y/n, can i make it up to you with some coffee?’

your head darted up and looked at him with wide eyes

‘like-like a date?’

it came out suddenly and you stepped back in surprise, cursing yourself

but jeno chuckled, eyes scrunching cutely

‘it'll be one of many'

* ◟ ― 🍓 HELLO ALL !! i am super duper excited to meet you all - my name is mila , but you can just call me 𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐈 𝐊𝐀𝐄𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐈 ’s mun !! i’m super excited to be here, and hopefully you guys take to me and miss sarai ! she has a lot of personality and there’s definitely quite a lot to unfold ! i wanted to also thank you all for the lovely messages 😊 they were so sweet !! i .... do not have a plots page atm , but i do have a profile here , and some sarai trivia & plot ideas down below ! give ‘ em a look , and if you’d like to plot at all give this a like ! i’m looking forward to it !!!

𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 ,

ok i hope u are ready for a whirlwind folks !! she’s the niece of thailand’s prime minister , basically her dad’s brother is the pm ! her dad also is a v prevalent member of the thai government and because of it, sarai’s grown up in the lap of luxury !

always was content w her financial situation , neither wanted more financial gain or less ! she’s grown up alright with having things done for her so she does tend to be on the lazier side !

everything was good until around the start of high school ! there , she found out her family was involved in some shady businesses and had been using government money for their own needs ! it was incredibly shocking and hurtful for her to hear , and ever since then things haven’t been the same . she really resents her parents for fooling her and the other’s around her into thinking they had good intentions !

so , to combat their malice , she began putting more effort into charity and volunteer work , hoping her good deeds would balance them out .

however, the truth of the matter was sarai was far more interested in how good she looked for donating rather than the cause , and even liked the feeling of being at the top felt ? and beyond that, she’s made deals w charities to help publicize her as this really generous person ? so more than anything, her gratitude is for personal gain .

but that’s not what she thinks, though ! she genuinely believes that these things make her better than her parents , and that she does it from the goodness of her heart . while part of her heart is in the right place , deep down the truth is she’s honestly just like them ??

a really big fight that broke out between her and her parents led her to get so upset that she literally left the country , leaving nothing but an angry letter and a vow to be on her own .

so now she’s in an ... interesting predicament. she really wants to be her own person , but she’s really dependent on her family and therefore is pretty incompetent . she says she gets along fine w / o their money , but still has a very materialistic mindset and can’t get by without their cash since she doesn’t have a job . so i’d honestly call her one big hypocrite ?? but what you gonna do !

in college you can find her playing volleyball and getting way too competitive , going to her teacher’s office hours nearly every day to talk her way into their good graces , and writing her heart out for the seongnam tribune !

that’s the other thing ! she really has a passion for writing , especially when it comes to articles and all that , but it simply was never in her cards ?? her parents want to follow in their family’s footsteps and either go into politics or economics , hence her major ! but really , if it was up to her sarai would just be living her best life as a journalist , with no care in the world !

on campus , i think she actually keeps a surprisingly low profile ? in thailand

for now , i assume most ( but not necessarily all ! ) people would think of her as a good person , but it’s only a matter of time before people’s true intentions slip out , you know ?? i’m not saying she’ll so her true colors but .... 👀

𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓 𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐒 ,

other fellow seongnam tribune members ?? i saw there was a bit of discussion about who does what and if someone doesn’t do it already , i think sarai would be the type to interview people about campus news or general trends pertaining to people their age !! so if someone wants to run around and hunt down people to interview with her ?? go for it !

someone who can teach her to be a little more ... human ?? she’s quite literally been babied her whole life, so she needs a. ) someone to help her realize that , and b.) someone who can help her to be more competent and less dependent on things that could be considered luxury !

volleyball players unite ?? she has a surprising passion for playing and though she’s a rather gentle person it’s quite literally a 180 when she plays ?? her eyes legit fill with fire on the court i’m scared ??

pls pls pls someone who sees through her facade and calls her out on her bs !! don’t be shy say she’s fake 😊💖

totally random but she also really wants to learn to cook so if your muse knows how ?? she will love them forever !

someone to help her with her korean / slang ! she can definitely keep up conversation but she wants to learn more casual words and just have someone to practice with !

general plot ideas : best friend / ride or die , other foreign exchange students , people her family has connections with , classmates who help tutor each other , someone she can help teach cello , someone who can teach her how to drive ( rip ) , fellow yoga buddies , exes on good or bad terms, casual flirtationships , someone she can party with ( she takes a little loosening up tbh ) , sibling-like relationships , i will think of more things but it’s late and i just wanna get this out lol !!

❁ Intro. Q&A with S&C ❁

❁ What is your favorite type of movement?

S: I struggled with movement for a long time. Exercise was categorized as a chore in my brain growing up. I had parents who LOVED running, yet running always made me feel like I was dying. I discovered yoga in late high school. Last year, I completely fell in love with a studio that incorporates HIIT, core, and heat to create a dynamic workout. I'm obsessed! It's my therapy, workout, community, and whole heart in one. I also love that yoga is a competition against yourself - constantly bettering your own practice, rather than focused on competition against others.

C: Growing up I was always active and involved in sports like basketball and track. I’ve ALWAYS hated the running aspect, but every now and then I’ll go for a jog outside if it’s nice out. Now that I get to choose my workouts, I enjoy a combination of lifting, yoga, and HIIT workouts. My workout split typically looks like 4 days of lifting and HIIT and 1-2 days of yoga. On rest days, I always start my mornings with a short yoga flow or light stretching. I also enjoy the hot yoga classes that S talked about above! Hot yoga is what brought us together :).

❁ What is your favorite way to de-stress?

S: Oh god. Anything alone. Seriously. I am extroverted until I hit my limit and once I hit that limit it is a hard crash. I recently moved to a really friendly neighborhood and have loved riding my bike to the library, curling up in my hammock, and reading a great book while listening to some instrumental tunes.

C: So many different ways! As a social worker, in order to be effective, I have to be on top of my self-care at all times. Journaling, meditation, yoga, reading, walking, and playing with my dogs and cats are some of my favorite ways to de-stress. I also find that using ear seeds helps when I’m experiencing high levels of stress or anxiety. Stay tuned for more ear seed info. in later blog posts!

❁ What is your favorite self-care strategy?

S: I need to be organized. I like knowing what food I'm going to eat the next day, having everything written out and color-coded in my planner, etc. I do really well when everything is put in its place and prepped for the next day - to a fault. I tend to deal with my high maintenance personality with obsessive organization because it is the type of self-care that directly combats my ADHD brain and keeps me functioning.

C: In addition to the ways that I de-stress above, I find a sense of calm in my weekly routine. At the beginning of the week, I enjoy cooking and meal prepping lunches for work, cleaning, and journaling my goals and intentions for the week. I have a Panda Planner that I like to use to stay organized. I also feel my best when I’m taking care of myself (i.e. focusing on eating well, being active, and maintaining my beauty/skincare routine).

❁ What are your health passions?

S: I have been on and off vegan for 6 years. I decided to start it back up at the beginning of this year, and 99% of the time I follow veganism. That's a HUGE passion of mine. I also recently started cycle syncing and I can't shut up about it!! I'm so excited to see what benefits it will provide. I'm a RYT200 yoga teacher with certifications in trauma-informed, children's, and teen yoga - I'm particularly passionate about incorporating vulnerability and mental health aspects into my practice. Lastly, I struggle with physical health (Endometriosis diagnosis) and mental health (GAD - Generalized Anxiety Disorder & ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder diagnosis), this has been a huge journey for me over the past two years. I am currently at a point where I manage these diagnoses really well naturally and it's important to me.

C: GUT HEALTH, GUT HEALTH, GUT HEALTH! That is what inspired the name for this blog! I find that my gut health impacts my skin, moods, weight, energy level, and my overall well-being. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and IBD in 2016 and have been focused on healing myself with a combination of Western Medicine-based medication, nutrition and journaling food sensitivities, vitamin supplements, movement, and strategies to improve my mental health. Don’t get me wrong - I’m very passionate about mental health in general as I’m a practicing therapist, however, I tend to get burnt out on focusing on mental health only as it is often difficult for my consumers to incorporate a holistic approach. I am also passionate about movement and working on my fitness, as Fergie would say. There’s something uplifting about accomplishing a new fitness goal whether it’s increasing my weights in lifting or holding a headstand in yoga (still working on that one lol).

❁ What led you to wholistic wellness?

S: I had parents who made a huge lifestyle change right after my freshman year of high school. As a family, we went vegan cold turkey (or is it cold tofurkey? pls laugh) and my Mom poured her heart and soul into researching natural alternatives. I have had my own battle with balancing traditional medicine with more holistic results. I very strongly believe in wholistic approaches - I'm not against medication by any means, but I believe it's so so important to treat the whole person and that there is no "one size fits all" approach.

C: Growing up, I didn’t think there was anything particularly “unhealthy” about my lifestyle, but reflecting back as an adult, I can definitely say that we were not a household that was focused on optimal nutrition. We drank gallons of milk and Sunny D and ate maybe a serving of canned vegetables per day. We were active, so no one in my family was overweight, but I think my parents were just raising us on foods that they grew up on (that and canning became all the rage in the 90’s). I would say that I became passionate about holistic approaches to my health shortly after I was diagnosed with Crohn’s and was trying to learn to manage my symptoms. I had a lot of inflammation in 2016 and was prescribed a low dosage of steroids until my doctor prescribed immunosuppressants to keep my immune system from attacking my colon. I began focusing on more holistic approaches when I noticed that medication alone wasn’t making me feel 100%. Sure, it stopped my active inflammation, however, I was still struggling with stomach cramping, diarrhea, and chronic fatigue. About 1 year after I was diagnosed, my husband and I moved to a larger area where I had access to more specialized medical providers. My new gastroenterologist (GI) referred me to a nutritionist who helped me to learn to identify my food sensitivities. She also referred me to a behavioral health psychologist who provided me with an outlet for my stress and anxiety. I began to learn that I was holding chronic tension in my stomach whenever I was stressed or anxious about something. That’s when I began to understand the importance of holistic health.

❁ What kind of posts can I expect to see on this blog?

S: I'm really excited to talk about managing mental health naturally (particularly anxiety), possible book recommendations, self-care, and healthy meal prepping while on a broke college student’s budget.

C: I look forward to sharing my personal experiences with navigating my chronic health issues, nutrition, FODMAPs, gut health, mental health, the gut-brain connection, fitness/movement, and self-care.

❁ Why social work?

S: It's nice to not have this question followed up by "you know you'd make much more money as _______. Is it too late to change your major?" But for real. I started college as a special education major, quickly realized I'd rather do pretty much anything other than write lesson plans, and switched to being a WGST major. I expected to be able to get a job doing advocacy work with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ & women issues. I soon realized the WGST track is for students who eventually want to do research and social work was more what I was looking for. I never looked back. C: I have always been passionate about having a career centered around helping people. I became interested in therapy after having a particularly negative experience with a therapist that my dad sent me to when I was getting caught in the middle of my parent’s divorce and I experienced some trauma. I originally pursued psychology, however, fell into social work when I figured out that there are so many different opportunities available for MSWs. I truly love my job and feel grateful to be compensated (FYI times have changed and not all social workers make next to nothing - thank the universe) for serving the children and families on my caseload

— born in dawson creek , british columbia , raf’s family had to move to the small city of grande prairie when he was around eight years old . his dad was laid off from his job at the oil patch and they moved to alberta for the supposedly better jop opportunities but with only a high school diploma and his lack of ambition , there really wasn’t much there for him .

— after that , things really started going downhill fast . his dad still couldn’t find a job and started pretty much flaking on them , disappearing multiple nights in a row , drinking heavily . raf’s dad was a good man , respectful , and care about his kids but just not enough . it came to a point when raf reached his eighteenth birthday that he just left them , with nothing more than a note apologizing , saying they’d do better without him .

— throughout high school and up until his college years you better believe that raf was on that work grind™ . his mom left him and his siblings the house plus a decent amount of money but he wanted to save that money for their schooling so he was working multiple jobs at a time , some full time , just to support himself and his siblings . raf missed so much school one year that he almost failed his junior year of high school . but grande prairie was a small place and all of his teachers pretty much knew what was going on so they cut him some slack .

— really , they pitied the kid . they tried really hard to help him in whatever way they could his senior year since they knew raf actually had potential . they got him to focus more on his education and work just that much harder and it all paid off ! because raf got a full-ride scholarship to the university of british columbia . things really started looking up after this .

— since he refused to leave his siblings behind , raf sold their house in grande prairie and used the money from that with the money their mom left them to move himself and his siblings to the tiniest , cheapest apartment he could find in vancouver . while still working , in ubc he completed his bachelor’s in english and afterwards he got accepted into their law school .

— after law school , raf flitted around the city between different jobs at smaller firms for a couple of years until landing a decent one at one of the city’s top corporate law firms . there , he worked his way up and up through the years , earning a name for himself in the city until he reached the title of senior partner . throughout this , he supported his siblings , helping put them through college , etc .

— it was some time around this point in his life that raf fell in love , got married , and had a kid of his own . but he was so focused on work , not wanting his family to go through the same financial struggles he did , that he completely forgot about spending time with his wife and son . this was the main reason his wife divorced him and moved out of their condo and this kinda .. what led raf to ~reinvent~ himself and have a reverse mid-life crisis jfdijfing

she graduated high school with flying colors as a salutatorian, which her parents were proud of, but candice had gotten cold and thought it was too late for them to reach out to her now

she is now taking up engineering in university, though she is still the wild child who sleeps around with richer people, regardless of how old they are and is an aspiring sugar baby and trophy wife

QUICK IMPORTANT FACTS: candice destroys the stereotypes of being objectified as a “pretty girl” by being studious and prioritizing her academics. in spite of this, she loves manipulating people to get what she wants for her enjoyment, but she is also capable of being independent and doesn’t get attached, which is why she shifts from one person to another

she may be one of the hottest and best dressed, but she enjoys html, computer science, and computer hacking on her spare time. this was something she adapted from one of the people she’s dated when she was in her early teens

she is capable of backstabbing and betrayal, as well as plotting on revenge to anyone who might spite her. she’s a kitty with claws and could get physical when she deems necessary

ZACHARY SULLIVAN:

zach was born and raised in hawaii, with an older sister and his native parents. unfortunately, his mother passed away when he was three, to which his family was devastated with. zach hadn’t known her very well, but he’s heard stories of how amazing and sweet she was

his father, has always been a certified alcoholic, and his vice had worsened when he grieved over the loss of his wife, making him very distant and hostile towards zach and his sister. they never had the best father-son relationship, which had zach seeking for other father figures, only to return to the image of his father and his problematic ways

he was nurtured by the tender love and care of his grandparents instead, and zach was a certified beach bum that enjoyed certain hobbies such as surfing and swimming, since they lived close to the beach

he saw no importance in his studies, deciding to bolt off with his friends or skip his classes to have fun. he got away easily since his family was rich and his grandparents always got his back when he was failing his subjects. he was definitely spoiled by his grandparents that he grew with a feeling of entitlement

zach had a natural charm regardless of his lethargy, which made him a persuasive and eloquent speaker to his peers and others

by the age of 12, his father met a woman ( a tourist ) and fell in love, which made zach and his family move to california to live with the woman and her daughter

they eventually got married and zach had to live with his step mother and step sister, but these two never got along, and zach always felt like there was a competition amongst the three of them, trying to be the best child to his father ( though he and his full-blooded sister were often on good terms )

he joined the swimming team in high school and had appeared in various competitions

he developed his first love that only broke his heart and made him want to close his heart to ever love again

he grew into a fuqboi, being irresponsible and aiming to be a bigger disappointment to his father and step-mother, who were both greatly catching on

he would sabotage his step sister with every chance he gets since she gets on his nerves for some reason

and he thrived to have their attention, even when it was negatively, feeling smug and getting into arguments with them to feel alive

he’s gotten acquainted best with the popular kids and the stoners, since he was often getting high, attending parties, or ditching his classes to do anything else

zach was one of the common students to get into detention, since he was always getting into trouble and wasn’t really afraid when he got caught

he’s got anger issues and would seem bossy and demanding whenever he feels like it. he’s also not afraid to get physical with people since he can be quite hedonistic

he’s got massive abandonment issues and hates the thought of being alone, and would rather spend a night with a stranger, in spite of him being defensive of his clinginess

he’s actually got a lot of issues like this list could go on but pls do love my problematic son he needs all the character development he can get

he takes up human resources since he wants to get into the business of recruitments, though he’s been held back from his subjects since he doesn’t plan on attending most of them

THEIR HISTORY TOGETHER:

zach and candice have a messy history of being on/off friends with benefits in high school, that eventually led to an open relationship, where they agree to see other people individually or see other people together. they have grown an attachment to each other but neither has thought about taking the relationship seriously, but it still complicates the people they’re dating, since they make up and break up every time

he’s great at all sports, especially basketball and soccer

he doesn’t know how to swim tho. that’s one of his weakness and his worst nightmare

he actually has a trauma from swimming as he experienced a terrible accident where he almost drowned during a pool party back when he was relatively young. back when he wasn’t taught how to swim

after that incident he would get nightmares and wake up in cold sweat dreaming about drowning and suffocating. he still can’t swim?? i mean he doesn’t mind dipping his feet into water, but anything above his waist he will literally freak out.

so anyway, back to sports. he’s an athlete??

i mean, his sister’s an athlete too and they would always just play together and train together when they were young

he would always be chosen as the leader of the team, because he has strong leadership skills and is the best player so i mean?

he realized that he really enjoy playing sports and began to consider it as a career when he was 15. but as he grew older, and with his father determined to make him the doctor he wanted to be come when he was young, he struggled in juggling his full focus on both academics and sports.

at first he followed his heart and began to take sports seriously, but during this time, his grades were slowly slipping, which caught his father’s attention.

eventually he had to choose and without wanting to disappoint his father, he chose the road he promised his parents he would pursue. he began to shift his focus towards his academics; his activity on the field eventually decreasing.

no one knows (apart from his sister) that he actually got an offer to be trained as a professional athlete and to actually pursue his dream. he didn’t tell his parents as he knew it would disappoint them so he sort of just declined the offer and kept it in between his sister and himself.

he no longer is as active as he wishes to be in sports

he still works out and all that, but he hardly plays anymore. it’s just books and research for him now

personality

okay so like i said before he’s an introvert

he was pushed into behaving like an extrovert

but sometimes it’s a bit too hard for him so he would lie to his friends and tell them that he can’t hang out cause he’s got a big family dinner to attend when really, it’s just him in bed watching movies, reading a book or just studying lmao.

the most important thing to remember is that he keeps a lot of his emotions to himself

he often comes off a an easy going person and he is tbh, but he has a lot of things going on and there’s a lot of on-going self conflicts in his head

he thinks way too much for his own good tbh. he over thinks constantly and worries a bit too much

he’s currently working his way up to be a hematologist and though he loves the idea of saving lives, he doesn’t know that the exact opposite ruins him

this career he’s pursuing it causes him some what emotional damage

as he is currently under medical training, and is under-studying a hematologist (one of his father’s close friends) he meets up and checks up on a lot of patients

and what usually happens is that he forms a certain attachment to them which eventually takes a toll on him when they pass away

instead of letting out that pain, jihwan would keep it to himself; repress them and bottle it all up

sometimes he kinda cries to himself because he can’t handle the attachment he built and how quickly it was taken away from him

overall, this career hurts him way too much but he’s still pursuing it out of wanting to save lives and not wanting to disappoint his father

apart from him constantly repressing his feelings jihwan is the type of guy who feels a bit too much

but he never says anything about it only because he doesn’t want to come off a bit too strong

he’s actually quite a shy guy lmao

but very caring and compassionate

Its enraging when I hear my parents/parents in general tell their kids, who have their licenses to pay for a car yourself . Not even a split? A loan? These kids are still in highschool! Even after highschool in college, I just don't see how one can pay for even a cheap used car themselves unless they dedicate their life and save every penny for the damn car. People that age usually earn close to minimum wage, and if they spend all their time working instead of studying, that's all their ever going to make. Ex) my friend earns 9.25 hourly at a grocery store (he's worked there for a while so its not exact minimum wage), and works 40 hours a week. He is ALWAYS at work. At the end of the week, his checks are worth about 338 after taxes. A crappy used car is probably about 5000? I'm not fully sure. Someone that age would have to work 40 hours a week for quite a long time. Since they're teenagers, that would pretty much leave them no time for studying/doing homework and a social life in general. Don't parents want their children to perform well academically as well?
