Honestly, I think it's hilarious that the Detective Pikachu movie managed to slip in a blatant reference to Dynamaxing with that entire Torterra garden scene and absolutely NOBODY noticed because the movie came out before Sword and Shield did.
First time I watched the movie, I was like "Oh, I wonder what kind of fucked up unethical experiments that lab did on those poor Torterra to make them grow so big. :(" but when I rewatched it during quarantine after I played Sword, it dawned on me that they must have pumped the Torterra full of Dynamax particles.
Like, this movie and SwSh were probably in development around the same time so I bet some writer on the Detective Pikachu team was just sitting there like "Wouldn't it be funny if we had this entire scene with a game mechanic nobody knows about yet, so when people rewatch the movie later, they'll be like "OH YOU MOTHER FUCK-"

i was thinking about your dirk and hal poll and i want to mention that i think your concept for ink and iron where dirk creates hal from his reflection by enchanting a mirror is so cool 😌
thank you! hal's predicament and purpose within the canon narrative is so fascinating and i felt it was really important to find a way to explore what i find most interesting with him. i can't take full credit for the concept though i took inspiration from a few placees (one of my friends pitched the idea of the mirror accidentally dumping him onto jake's doorstop for example) but overall i think the idea is very fun and i'm really excited to write more hal stuff!!! also i'm going to take the opportunity to share this oldish doodle i found:

Ever think about how Venti always seems to just be around and does things when he's needed and barely just...exists doing his own thing
I feel like it's most seen in Windblume's Breath where he's sitting around somewhere he could easily be found and just stayed there the whole time to give a clue for the Traveller because that had been what was needed of him at the time. Unlike the previous Windblume where the Traveller was getting antsy with nothing to do so Venti ran around Mond with them, they had Sucrose to help around with this time
From Mona's voiceline, he probably more often than not just does nothing. He's only ever seen singing when it's needed or drinking when there's a celebration or with others to lighten things up. Heck on a bigger scale, he often sleeps when he's not needed

POST MORE SWORD OF FATE PLS IM BEGGING
Tumblr media
i have very little in terms of actual art LMAO but i CAN explain the sword thing because i checked and i did in fact never make this plot point public. i struggled for a while with creating a villain for this story until i realized that. i put "sword" in the title of the game. of course it has to be about the fucking sword. DUH.
so i want SOF to deal very heavily with religion, specifically the way in which hyrule's religion forms post-sksw but pre-reincarnation. i've placed it on the timeline directly after sksw, making it the first actual reincarnation in hyrule. what this means is that there's no actual proof yet that the reincarnation thing is real and not just an insane bluff on demise's part, and so several key characters including link and zelda barely believe in hylia or demise at all when the story starts. my thought with this setting's version of ganon is that he's the polar opposite of the nonbelievers. The gerudo don't really exist as of now, but he DOES come from the desert region of hyrule--specifically, he was raised in a cultlike offshoot of the sheikah religion which interpreted the hylia/demise myth completely literally and believes that a doomsday is coming, heralded by the foretold return of demise. Because of this, he knows more about the cycle and how to set it in motion than basically any other character. Crucially, he and his people are some of the only ones at this point aware of the existence of the master sword.
ganon finds. a sword. a sword which he THINKS is the master sword. and this theory is only reinforced when the sword begins to speak to him about his destiny and the salvation of hyrule. unfortunately it is not the master sword and he ends up basically a pawn in the greater plans of what's left of demise & ghirahim within that sword, manipulated into attempting to revive demise and destroy the reincarnated hero and princess. he remains in denial until basically the very end of the final battle, completely convinced that he is the true savior of hyrule and LINK is the one being misled. ghirahim is a very good manipulator lol

i’m very sorry, but you guys have got to properly label your ao3 fics because “bad parents jack and maddie fenton” is starting to really get on my nerves.
and if, in the middle of the fic, you decide to add a tag like that: PLEASE communicate that you’ve done so in the chapter notes. because i don’t recheck the tags after i’ve bookmarked something.
please. i don’t think it’s that big of an ask.

Is helaena targeryen a plot device?
I mean, Helaena's entire "arc" is to go mad after Blood and Cheese happen and ultimately commit suicide. We know nothing about her personality specifically, just that she had a happy disposition and would be a good mother (which is, frankly, little better than knowing nothing). Once Jaehaerys is killed she never leaves her chambers, stops eating and bathing and "sanks deeper and deeper into madness". This is all we know, and it's the bare minimum, maybe even less.
Does she add tragedy to the story? Sure. But only for the reader, as her own brother-husband cannot wait to replace her and marry Cassandra Baratheon immediately.
Is she a relevant character in any other ways, having a personality, desires, motivations, nuance, etc? Absolutely not.

Now that I'm thinkin about it? It's completely ridiculous that Bella even made it to the meadow in the first place. You're tellin me that this uncoordinated clumsy disaster just ✨️waltzed✨️ into miles of unmapped woods to find a tiny ass clearing that she'd never gone to without her vampire boyfriend carrying her there? And lived? Girl she shoulda been lost as shit in those woods Laurent should have found her wandering through the trees in a panic she shoulda thought she was finally losing it until she reaches out to touch him to make sure he's real and she's elated until she looks up at him and sees him grinning down at her with red eyes. Like the ✨️Drama✨️ smeyer where is the ✨️DRAMA✨️??? 🤌

"It's okay, little buddy. Hypnosis isn't scary. Al had hypnotized me before and I'm alright!" Owen happily said to Noah. "I think you should let Al help you conquer your fear. I'll be right beside you, so nothing embarrassing will happen to you, I promise."
Noah hesitated, looking at Alejandro with a mixture of fear and suspicion. The other contestants, sensing the tension, nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, man. We'll all be here with you. You're not going to be alone." Tyler said.
Finally, Noah relented, feeling the pressure of his peers. "Alright, fine. But you better keep your word."
Alejandro grinned, his white teeth gleaming in the dim light. "Of course, Noah. You have my word."
Alejandro began to swing his necklace back and forth in front of Noah's face, the hypnotic movement calming his nerves. "Look at the pendant, Noah. Watch it go back and forth, back and forth. You're feeling more relaxed already, aren't you?"
Noah's eyes followed the pendant, mesmerized despite his best efforts to resist. "Yeah… it's… calming…" he muttered.
Alejandro smiled, his voice steady and soothing. "That's right, Noah. You're feeling very calm and relaxed right now. Your fears are beginning to fade away. You're starting to trust me. When I count to three and snap my fingers, you're going to fall asleep. One… Two... Three."
As Alejandro snapped his fingers, Noah's body relaxed completely, and his breathing deepened as he slipped into a deep sleep. Noah had a peaceful smile on his sleeping face. The other contestants watched with bated breath.
"Sleep well, mi amgio... He's going to need his rest now," whispered Alejandro. "But don't worry, I'll make sure that he's safe."
Most of the contestants nodded and walked out of the room.
Owen however hesitated. "... But I promised Noah that I would be right beside him when he wakes up."
"And you are a wonderful friend for doing that, but if you say or do something that wakes Noah up, it might reverse my work." Alejandro lies, looking at Owen with false patience.
Owen nervously looks at the sleeping Noah, then he sighs. "Okay then... If you say so, Al... I trust you."
Why does Owen feel like he's making a mistake?
As Owen left, Alejandro remained behind, standing over Noah. The Hypnotist whispered softly in Noah's ear, his voice like silk, "You're going to be so useful to me, Noah. You're going to help me achieve great things. You understand that, don't you?"
Noah's eyes still remained closed, but then he nodded slightly.
"Good boy. Now, let's put some more ambition in your mind, shall we?" 😈
anon, you can't just post an au fic of an au fic in my inbox and NOT expect me to go feral.
10/10, please post to ao3 so i can give you kudos. 👏

I decided to reread The Hunger Games trilogy and I gotta say this trend of absolutely hating Gale and calling him a war criminal and selfish is such a miss.
Gale is by no means a perfect person. But none of the characters are. They all do bad or questionable things. They’re literally in the middle of a war. Even before it’s officially a war.
Yes Gale was jealous of Peeta and Katniss. Yes, there were significantly more important things going on. Gale knew that, he acknowledged that. But end of the day he’s still a teenager with emotions. Just like Peeta and Katniss who both also describe being jealous of Gale - Madge - Joanna. They also know it’s dumb given all the danger and death surrounding them. But surprisingly people still have emotions like love and jealousy during wartime - including teenagers.
As for the war criminal comments that’s a whole long discussion but let’s remember this is a world in which the government has been slaughtering children for entertainment and forcing all the districts that send their kids to watch them be murdered for the entirety of the main trios lives and long before them - it is all they have ever known.
Additionally, year round the capital treats the citizens like slaves and makes them produce whatever is necessary for the capital and then let’s them live in squalor starving to death. This is how Gale grew up. He was the oldest of 4 kids. His dad died when he was a kid and he was responsible for taking care of his mom and all his siblings. He had his name in the bowl for the reaping probably more than almost any boy in 12.
He watched his district and the men women and children he knew his whole life be burned alive while he had to lead as many to safety as he could. He watched his best friend be shoved into the hunger games twice knowing not only that he might lose her forever but that he would have 2 more people to care for and soon he would be forced into the mines full time with little opportunity to hunt.
So when a war breaks out to finally stop the abuses and murders by the capital of course Gale jumps in. Of course he plans to kill. It’s a war. And it’s nice to try and be a pacifist and say give peace a chance but how can you say that to your oppressors and expect anything to change. There had to be a war and there had to be death. Gale fought in the front lines and was willing to die to save his family and free the districts. It’s curious we never hear anyone call Beetee a war criminal when he made more weapons than anyone. Almost like it’s not the fact the Gale made weapons during a war, but that it was Gale.

Ok but even if we take the "love triangle" seriously Steven was out here trying to get Nancy's attention all week and she's like 🤷‍♀️.
Meanwhile Jonathan shows up in an unwashed outfit, with a little beard, and probably smelling like weed and Doritos and she's like 😍😍😍😍

... and the association of Vic with Beckett...
There's this thing about associating a woman with a man. Whatever happens, there is like a transference of hate to the woman and love to the man.
Men already get less hate doing something worse than women and more love when doing something minimally decent. The way the narratives are framed on the show don't help.
The choice to - make Maya give Beckett the bottle shifted the blame to her, absolving him. Somehow to some, she became the worst person on the show and whatever she did was her personal unique moral failings. Beckett's long list of poor choices made throughout his captaincy that endangered himself, his team n civilians... The resolution was merely his voluntary stint at rehab. Oh and quietly demoted. No mention of his wrongdoings again. Everyone's just fine with him already. Just like how they accepted his bad behavior right from the start.
The choice to - make Vic to not notice maya's distress and say those words about her, a longtime friend and teammate while being hyper aware of Beckett's state and being especially empathetic towards him.
I hope the speculation isn't true. It'll be a disservice to Vic as a character. It's the use of a well-liked female character to redeem a disliked male character.
On a show where already
... the men don't really need to work on themselves - the characters around them simply lower their standards to accommodate.
... toxic masculinity is conflated with addiction/ mental health issues,
... the men's addiction and wrongdoings - related or not to the addiction, are systemic issues - of the healthcare system failing Sullivan or an inter-generational alcohol problem trapping Beckett
I'm all for the empathy for the struggle with addiction n underlying issues but against using them as excuses to not hold people accountable for bad behavior.

Me: *minding my own business* Brain: BREATH OF THE SKY SEQUEL BREATH OF THE SKY SEQUEL Me: Wait wait WAIT—I don’t even know how the story’s gonna end and at the rate I’m writing it’ll take eighty years! Brain: Brain: FAKE BREATH OF THE SKY SEQUEL FAKE BREATH OF THE SKY SEQUEL
So yeah. Uh.
Zora’s Domain glitters in the sunlight as everyone goes about their business. In the throne room are several people - King Dorephan is speaking cheerfully to Prince Sidon, Muzu is looking over some official document or other, and in the corner on the side seating are Link and Mipha. Link, adorned in Zora jewelry and the armor from Mipha, sits at ease, one leg tucked under the other, head resting on his fist as he props his elbow on the seating a level above him. Mipha is standing, talking about a story she’d heard from the Bazz Brigade. Link is smiling up at her.
The peaceful moment is interrupted when an explosion is heard off in the distance, catching everyone off guard. Link and Mipha immediately go to investigate. The explosion came from close to Ploymous Mountain, where Queen Zelda was experimenting on Sheikah and Zonai tech. When the pair gets there they find Zelda with soot in her face and a pile of smoking machinery. Turns out mixing Sheikah and Zonai tech can have unexpectedly volatile results. Mipha tells Zelda she really shouldn’t be trying to get herself killed, and Link helps her clean up while Mipha heals small cuts and burns.
A few weeks later, Link visits Zelda in the castle, where she shows him another Zonai artifact that she found. It’s a tear shaped stone! Wonder what it does?
It glows. Thats what it does. And suddenly Link and Zelda aren’t in the castle anymore. They’re in a forest, and a young man is in front of them, dressed in green, kneeling on the ground, holding a sword with the point aiming at his own chest, hands grasping the hilt firmly.

Link: *sighing heavily, dropping sword* What timeline mess am I fixing now? 😒
