Actually before season 1b or season 2 whatever we're calling it comes out I wanna talk abt how I hope prime ends
Bc I feel like the show is leading up to Sonic having to choose between his original world or the shatterverse and if he saves the original then the other shatterspaces will disappear. And that's fucking sad. I don't want characters like Nine or Rusty to disappear without getting the chance to live full, happy lives. But I also don't want Sonic to lose his original friends and family forever while trying to save the others
So I propose a secret third option. That being Sonic's original world being fixed, while the other shatterspaces sort of converge and exist WITHIN the paradox prism
Ok let me explain that a bit better SO Sonic puts the prism back together like he and Shads are planning to. That fixes Sonic's world and everything is back to normal on Sonic's end. BUT on everyone else's end the shatterspaces sort of come together, either by physically becoming one world or bridges forming between each one or something so now they have access to each other
And now the paradox prism in Sonic's world can be used to access the shatterverse, ig by touching it or maybe channeling its energy somehow with machines or something. And it's kept safe somewhere secret so a certain egghead can't cause trouble there anymore. Bc the shatterspaces now exist inside of the prism
No I'm not coping with the hard decision Sonic is gonna be forced to make at the end of this series and the inevitable loss that comes with it idk what you're talking abt (<- lying, coping)

Everything I learned about history from movies is a lie
More precisely the shirt worn by any man in any movie set between 1600 and 1900 - that white floofy shirt that's gathered into a yoke - never existed
They don't have yokes and if they do they are too late and don't have any of the other attributes (drop shoulders, under arm gussets, closed fronts)

Time to share another of my favorite Christian poems with you all. It’s a martyrdom poem by Varlam Shalamov, a victim of the Soviet gulags and also the writer of Kolyma Tales. A few favorite stanza are written out here; the entire poem is typed out below. It’s a little on the long end, but entirely worth it.
“Avvakum in Pustozyorsk” by Varlam Shalamov
The walls of my church
are the ribs of my heart;
it seems life and I
are soon bound to part
.
My cross now rises,
traced with two fingers.
In Pustozyorsk it blazes;
its blaze will linger.
.
I’m glorified everywhere,
vilified, branded;
I have already become
the stuff of legend.
.
I was, people say,
full of anger and spite;
I suffered, I died
for the ancient rite.
.
But this popular verdict
is ugly nonsense;
I hear and reject
the implied censure.
.
The rite is nothing
neither wrong nor right;
a rite is a trifle
in God’s sight.
.
But they attacked our faith
in the ways of the past,
in all we’d learned as children
and taken to heart.
.
In their holy garments,
in their grand hats,
with a cold crucifix
in their cold hands,
.
in thrall to a terror
clutching their souls,
they drag us to jails
and herd us to scaffolds.
.
We don’t mind about the doctrine
books and their age;
we don’t debate virtues
of fetters and chains.
.
Our dispute is of freedom,
and the right to breathe—
about the Lord’s will
to bind as he please.
.
The healers of souls
chastised our bodies;
while they schemed and plotted,
we ran to the forests.
.
Despite their decrees,
we hurled our words
out of the lion’s mouth
and into the world.
.
We called for just vengeance
against their sins;
along with the Lord,
we sang poems and hymns.
.
The words of the Lord
were claps of thunder.
The Church endures;
it will never go under.
.
And I, unyielding,
reading the Psalter,
was brought to the gates
of the Andronikov Monastery.
.
I was young;
I endured every pain:
hunger, beatings,
interrogations.
.
A winged angel
shut the eyes of the guard,
brought me cabbage soup,
and a hunk of bread.
.
I crossed the threshold—
and I walked free.
Embracing my Exile,
I walked to the east.
.
I held services
by the Amur River,
where I barely survived
the winds and blizzards.
.
They branded my cheeks
with brands of frost;
by a mountain stream
they tore out my nostrils.
.
But the path to the Lord
goes from jail to jail;
the path to the Lord
never changes.
.
And all too few,
since Jesus’s days,
have proved able to bear
God’s all-seeing gaze.
.
Nastasia, Nastasia,
do not despair;
true joy often wears
a garment of tears.
.
Whatever temptations
may beat in your heart,
whatever torments
may rip you apart,
.
walk on in peace,
through a thousand troubles
and fear not the serpent
that bites at your ankles—
.
though not from Eden
has this snake crawled;
it is an envoy of evil
from Satan’s hand.
.
Here, birdsong
is unknown;
here one learns the patience
and the wisdom of stone.
.
I have seen no color
except lingonberry
in fourteen years
spent as a prisoner.
.
But this is not madness,
nor a waking nightmare;
it is my soul’s fortress,
its will and freedom.
.
And now they are leading me
far away in fetters;
my yoke is easy
and my burden grows lighter.
.
My track is swept clean
and dusted with silver;
I’m climbing to heaven
on wings of fire.
.
Through cold and hunger,
through grief and fear
towards God, like a dove,
I will rise from the pyre.
.
O far-away Russia—
I give you my vow
to return to the sky
forgiving my foe.
.
May I be reviled,
and burned at the stake;
may my ashes be cast
on the mountain wind.
.
There is no fate sweeter,
no better end,
than to knock, as ash,
at the door of the human heart.

IT IS TIME: Miss Universe National Costume 2023
it's here! the Met Gala for people who actually understand what camp is!
yes I'm like 3 months late, but I sat down and watched the damn thing. I put up with the horrible little rhyming couplets for each contestant so you don't have to. and without further ado:
Albania: Starting off very Victoria’s Secret this year! Apparently it’s gold for important symbolism reasons, not just because everything in this competition is blinged out to within an inch of its life. The wings do look nice in motion!
Angola has a good balance of bling, actual cultural dress, and oh hey it has surprise bonus art on the back! That will be a theme this year.
Argentina: Why is there a guy in a hat right down at the bottom edge of her cape. He looks like he’s staring at her butt. How does this represent their flag.
Aruba: This is fine. I like the coral. She thinks climate change is bad. Her parrot is clearly way too heavy to hold up and it wobbles like crazy in motion.
Australia: This is now multiple years in a row that Australia has just worn a fucking prom dress. It’s got native wildflowers on. You could have made this exact same dress with a Great Barrier Reef theme and I would have liked it 80% more.
Bahamas: This costume is allegedly based on a 19th-century doll from the Bahamas “world famous straw market,” which is already bullshit; I googled “bahamas straw market antique doll” and like. they both have big skirts? I guess? Anyway now I’m too distracted by the way she has a hoop skirt awkwardly jammed under there and hiked up on one side. Minus ten for poor construction.
Bahrain's theme is “Bahrain’s pearl heritage,” which like. I guess? The headdress and yoke are pretty. Put more pearls on the actual outfit. Kudos for getting to wear pants.
Belgium: Girl. No. Why is your theme “Latin dance” and why are you wearing a spangly cocktail dress with a totally unrelated piece of fabric fluttering behind it? (Apparently the fabric was designed by a member of Belgium’s royal family? Who is a fashion designer? This is what nepotism gets you.)
Bolivia saw Aruba’s parrot and was like, I can do that better. And she was right! It’s way less wobbly and the costume as a whole does work better. Also made from recycled materials, so we’ll see if that’s a theme again this year. The back of the cape is nice too.
Sadly, Bolivia's parrot supremacy was short-lived, because Brazil was like, bitch please. I see your sad little parrots and raise you FOUR giant parrots, and also the shoulder parrots are articulated and can turn their heads back and forth. I think Brazil wins the parrot competition that only she knew she was in.

I finally tried on my sweater! It fits perfectly around the chest so that's good. I'm still a little worried about the sleeves though. Like I adjusted the (arm?) circumference according to gauge so the girth is not the issue but since this is my first time knitting a garment I don't know how the armhole will behave. I don't even own any store-bought knit I can compare with it, or this would have been much easier. Currently the top portion of the...sleeve cap(?) sticks out a little (as the stitches are live) so hopefully that length will add to the armhole circumference (not exactly the armhole but you know what I mean.) Adding more stitches while picking up would be overkill at this point, right? Right??
