If somehow you haven’t seen by now, while the Super Bowl is being aired, Israel is striking Rafah.

The people of Palestine had been told to go there, they were promised it was safe.

And while this is happening, even though earlier several tags on Palestine were trending, only one or two are now.

I haven’t written any posts personally on Palestine myself. I didn’t feel I had anything to add here aside from reblogging and boosting whatever I can but please. We can’t forget Palestine or its people especially now.

This has gone on too long and gone much much too far MANY times and now is when we need to push harder.

Many of the heads of Western countries are either beating around the bush and wasting time, or outright denying the things the Palestinian people don’t have the privilege to ignore. They don’t have the choice to look away from their pain, or the pain of friends, family, neighbors, their country. And even through all of this they’re still trying their damn hardest just to live. And we all need to listen.

So now, especially if you live in a western country like I do, now we step it up a notch. Now is the time if you haven’t already to read up on Palestinian history. Listen to what the people of Palestine are saying. Hold firm on the boycott like never before. Any and every way you can donate, do it. eSIMs, aid, anything that will reach. Save as much evidence as you can. Videos, articles. Don’t let Zionists pretend all of this never happened.

Even if you think there’s nothing you can do, I’m telling you, keep going. Even if you feel you can only give a little, if we all give a little together it becomes much more.

Hit imperialism where it hurts. In the wallet. Follow the BDS instructions, find protests in your area if you can, boost as much information about Palestine as you can find, call your reps, and do not lose hope. The people of Palestine are not dead. They are holding on even through all this and we all owe it to them to do the same.

A Free Palestine will happen in our lifetimes. But it will be hard fought. So go out there and fight hard! The governments can’t hide from their own people forever. The companies can’t bleed cash forever. The people will win. So push until we do. Do not look away. Free Palestine

Alright everyone, time for an impromptu lesson on how to spot scam asks!

The first sign that this message is a scam is honestly that someone is sending me this message at all, especially since I don't interact with the person enough to recognise their name. I'm sure that 99.9% of donation messages will be spam messages set up by accounts specifically designed to get money out of people, enough that I will delete these by default. I don't think I've ever had a genuine one. But if messages like this tug on your heartstrings enough to want to find out, let me show you how to do that.

The first warning sign is that I'm not following them. Maybe they're a longtime follower of my account though, and I might want to help them in that case, so to check that, I go to my account page, scroll down to the blog that was sent the message, and click on followers.

There I can type in alicesgarcia's blog name in the search, to see if she's following me. But I don't have to because I can see that she's right at the top of my follower list. This is a bad sign--it means she's followed me recently. To check this, I go to my notes and filter for followers only.

I left my ask notifications on too, and from this, I can see they actually sent me the ask BEFORE they followed me. Definitely a scam.

But let's say I want to go deeper. Maybe they're not my follower, but perhaps they are a genuine long-time tumblr user in a hard time--after all, they're a black non-binary lesbian with bigoted parents. That's all of my weak spots in one! I really want to support someone in that situation (Which, of course, I do, I'm on tumblr. This scam is highly targeted, and they s know what will get my sympathy).

So let's check out her blog. She's got a lot of posts, but they're all photo posts, which is another red flag. Though I'm scrolling and scrolling, most of the posts were made 1 day ago, with another big dump 5 days ago. There's a LOT of posts, too much to scroll through. This is deliberate, to make her look legit and discourage people from seeing the date of her first post. But by offsetting posts hundreds at a time (see address bar), I can find her first post.

And there we go--their first post was made five days ago. Definite scam. These are all huge red flags, but you don't need every one of them to tell you it's a scam. Any single one of these should have given me enough doubt that I would just click the block button. New follower? Scam. New blog? Scam. Blog all one type of post? Scam. No interaction with other blogs? Scam. Even the fact that she was so vulnerable and marginalised is a huge warning sign (you're being targeted), as is the fact that her blog just doesn't make her feel like a real person.

Look for ALL of these things. A good scam might set up a blog a month in advance and make personalised posts to gain your trust, or get the login of an old blog and use their age to make them look legit. Keep digging, and keep making sure that what you're seeing tracks with this being a real person in genuine need.

And if you're going to signal boost, even if you're not donating your own money, PLEASE do these basic steps before you post or reblog. Let's protect each other from this.

Anyway, I really like the work The Last Poet is doing on tt to help the strike that Bisan called for. If you missed the post about it here's the gist:

TLP a person on tt who relies on mutual aid to survive. As such, when Bisan called for a strike they had the knowledge of how to organize mutual aid. They used that skillset to help employed ppl who wanted to strike but did not have unions/money to do it. She got some of her other friends who had also built trust on the app to help and they worked together to support these ppl.

And what they did was organize fundraising for 30+ people and as of 2 hours ago, they're only $800 away from their 19k goal

I would like to do something similar next time a credible strike is called for.

I will need help keeping things organized as I'm not that kind of ND so I'm also inviting others to help me or to do this yourselves if you are more capable.

Further this is Tumblr and not tt so it's gonna be a little different.

How it works (generally):

Figure out who wants to help coordinate, who can communicate with a lot of people, to write/explain posts, to track goals on a spreadsheet, rational decision making, etc. Then figure out your collective reach and abilities (like how many people you can all raise money for) and apply them where they fit best. These are your Organizers.

The aid: funds for people who can't afford to strike.

People in need of aid will make their own posts that the Social Media Team then boosts.

As you might be concerned, boosting everyone might inhibit anyone from meeting their goal. So focusing on a select few would is best to help ppl meet their goals. Then we can move on to the next person/batch of people. Organizers need to determine who the Social Media Team should focus on first (fcfs is usually fair) and make sure it's communicated clearly who those specific people are.

The Social Media Team team can be anyone with a social media acct but large blogs should definitely be sought out to participate here. The goal of the Social Media Team is to reach Supporters, people who will donate and/or boost further. Absolutely share and boost on other platforms. As TLP explains: there is no shortage of people who are willing to part with their wealth for a good cause, we just gotta find them

Constant communication between people getting aid and organizers is key so that goals are being properly reported and updated on posts.

The way TLP has it set up: large donations go to organizers who then split the money evenly between the people being boosted. Smaller amounts can be directly donated. Any amount donated needs to be reported to organizers so that it can be tracked properly. When the goal is met, they move to the next person until everyone is helped.

When everyone is helped you can all decide to help more people (if you are able/still have spoons to repeat the process) or you can rest up before it's time to do it again.

And before y'all tell me I can't:

Yes the fuck I can actually, so jot that down.

Who is with me? If we start organizing now and growing our little Tumblr pods then the next strike that comes around it'll be more effective cuz more people will be able to participate. More effective is the goal, right?

Spread this post too. I am not (and don't want to be) the only person doing this. If you're able, please start up something similar within your own circle. We will reach more people and be able to help more people if more people are organizing this kind of work.

If you ALREADY make mut aid posts or share don*tion posts, this is the same thing. Just a bigger, more organized scale. It's really not that scary. And just cuz I'm posting this on Tumblr, that doesn't mean you can't create your own effort on Twitter or insta or whatever. Everyone should be doing this everywhere if you ask me.

Also we could practice this by coordinating with people who currently have mut-aid posts up. Just saying ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we could learn how to be more effective while helping each other at the same time.

So if you wanna be involved or get involved then reblog this. Share it somewhere else. Make your own post about it. Just share it. Consider this the first post that needs to be boosted are you part of the team or not?

Also I feel like we'd find each other way easier if we used a specific hashtag for this decentralized global strike fundraising so leave some suggestions in the replies ⬇️

Sorry to be putting this on this account but it's better for a lot of people to see right off the bat than to post it on my mun account because this is very important...

Be on the lookout for scammers on Tumblr, I just had somebody put an ask and this is what they sent;

They were hoping that I would answer and be "oh gosh golly gee, you poor poor thing I'll spread the word!"

🤓 yeah I'm going to spread the word, please do not fall for something like this. I went on to their page and happened to find this;

And in turn I clicked on the link to see this;

Do understand that most people would have a donation pool opened up for something like this with photos and evidence of their illness as if they tried to do something like that for profit they will end up getting in trouble. No person who is sick is going to just open up a PayPal and ask "please donate as I am sick"...

Just for a quick word of advice unless I know you personally; my asks are only open for questioning my characters, not for you to come in and put a pity party in my lap. I would rather you DM me about possibly helping to boost your illness and problems...

And before you all go "well maybe the PayPal is the only way in which they can get money... Yha jerk!" Keep in mind I'm not the only one they asked...

These are all basically the same ask to multiple people, not asking a question or other statement... Just stating that they have cancer they've been sick a few weeks and that they need money ASAP... And before you jump to conclusions this was the first thing I found when I put the whole ask in the search bar...

Yeah, my point. I don't want to spread this by answering their ass so I'm just deleting and blocking them. If you get an ask like this please delete and block the asker because they are nothing but scammers especially if you see that they have a PayPal open instead of a donation pool... If I cannot read the basic story for the information and judge myself whether you deserve my money or not, then I'm not even going to bother answering the ask.

I asked a friend of mine and they mentioned that there is a Tumblr user on here that can teach you to look out for scammers like this; @kyra45

My friend stated that they were very helpful in helping to find scammers and I hope that they can help you and to prevent from being scammed. There's only a few people in which I will donate to here on Tumblr and if you are a complete stranger I will not donate to you, I WILL BLOCK YOU!

I advise all of you to do the same as I don't want you donating to a scammer who's just going to turn around and not use your money for what they claim they're using it for. To be perfectly honest I don't know a rich person on Tumblr to begin with 😂 don't know about y'all but I'm poor as dirt 🤣

I do apologize for it being so long, but this had to be spread. If you wish to reblog so let other people know that is perfectly fine with me, I just wanted to let y'all know that I would just got this ask and I didn't want anybody to donate to this person... Like I said there's only a few people I already know here on Tumblr who need my money more than this bitch...

Cancer or not, they literally have health plans and coverages for people who have cancer and or other diseases to which you are able to get help and assistance...

Okay so I’m joining solitary of the strike curtesy to Bisan from 21st to 28th for Palestine as they are actively in need of our help, i advice all to do the same. But I see an alerting thing that I need to address rn. To spread awareness and to make sure my mutuals/followers don’t fall victim into this.

So there even donation scams going around this app, such as:

I’ve saw two more of these, one of me was posing as a Palestinian Mother with two kids whilst the other claimed to need money for their lungs. Now I wish I had these screenshots to prove my claims but at the time I wasn’t sure if I was going crazy or was the only one having this gut feeling. But today, I realize this has been an alarming thing. This just happen to me, and I’m finding out, this is how they’ll get you:

Typically, they’re use your AMA to ask for donation, whether it on their animal, children, etc that require their donation usually by PayPal. Another is that, they’ll randomly follow you and immediately use the AMA to try to get you to either donate to them or signal boost their donation. Usually their story will be a copy paste as it more than just one. This situation is truly worse than p*rnbots. And frankly it absolutely disgusting.

If you want more proof other than the proof I just showed above, go search on Donation Scam and you’ll see many of these scammers. Here are one I can provide as there more than one incident where this happen:

Now to try to prevent this from happening I will link also a blog that goes in depth on how to prevent something like this from happen to you ghost pals or your mutuals or followers so they don’t fall victim into this:

What can I tell you, my mutuals and followers is that, please report them and block them is this does happen to you.

“But what if they’re being truthful”

I wish I can tell you, but the sad truth, it can be tricky because it the internet, as much as it a place to connect, it can also be a place to deceive you. So the best advice as I can tell you is be on your P’s and Q’s. Because years ago I was scammed and hacked for trusting a source I thought was factual. So I don’t want that to happen to you Ghostly Pals. And for my mutuals/friends, please be careful. 🩶 but I do have an advice, save their photo and run it by a photo finder I personally use TinEye and see if the image have been posted anyway, but if you have another you prefer even better:

Originally I was gonna make a post about boundary regarding the AMA but now that I see this have been a new scam running rampant on tumblr, I can’t keep my mouth shut about this and I need to let this be known. But I will still say, please only use my AMA for asking questions or telling me things whether it’s Good omens related or whatever. Please don’t use it to ask for donations like what these scammers are doing. I hope this doesn’t make me sound like an asshole but I just want to be safe. Like, as I understand it, the problem to which the server is a solution is lack of wlw/femme soft/gentle feedism, right? I guess I’m wondering why the solution is “new space” rather than something like “post more”. Sorry I’m just a little confused 😅

Hiiii. So I didn’t decide to create the SFS discord because of the lack of WLW/Sapphic content. Whilst, that is true and it is a miniature part of the reason, it wasn’t my main intention💕

It would be great if more sapphics made content and got much more recognition for the content they do work hard to make but it’s just not happening enough, so I’ve decided to make this space so we recognise, grow and support each other as a sapphic community instead of relying on the other communities in the feedism community too (respectfully, lol)🫢😅

Not only is feedism a male dominated kink space, it sometimes isn’t a safe kink space either and that’s mainly because of men, if we’re being honest lol. The amount of women/sapphics that have been stalked or forced to leave the feedism community because of men is honesty so sad and wrong to me & I wonder if this space was created before, would they have felt the need too? They would be able to interact, make friends, promote their content and support others all in one space that would have attracted the perfect audience. No hate, no trolls, no stalkers, no weirdos or unwanted sexual advances! How awesome? Lol.

I made this discord because not only am I a lesbian, i’m also a woman, i’m black and i’m obviously apart of the LGBTQ+, i’m also neurodivergent. Not only me but everyone in the above categories i’ve just mentioned don’t get enough love, recognition & freedom to be who they are in a safe, fun & awesome environment and that’s exactly what SFS is for. I hope that clears that up and convinces you to join😂💖

Lastly, one thing I will say is I didn’t realise how desperately the sapphic community needed this space. Over 70+ members in less that 3 days and is bound to grow so much more, when I reach even more audience and recognition.

Please help a struggling artist.

Hi everyone.

I'll try my best to word this as well as I can; this is a plea for help.

I'm Donna, a 27 yr old freelancing queer+POC female artist.

As my Tumblr activity would suggest, my favourite thing to do is make fandom artwork, it brings me joy like no other. That has come to a standstill as in the past few months I've been unable to make ends meet with unexpected bills, having been kicked out of my previous apartment, and spending a lot of time and money in hunting for a new one in a dire time limit.

I've been holing up temporarily in an acquaintance's home for a very minimal charge, but her kindness can only extend till the end of June as she is moving away and giving her place up for rent for an amount I cannot afford anymore.

I have found a smaller place, but I still do not have enough to make the deposit/the rent that I need to pay by next week or I will lose the place. I'm down to my last trickle of savings that I can rely on for food alone.

In a week's time, I will be homeless and broke; I do not have a vehicle to crash in or any friends in the city I can approach who could accommodate me. I cannot return to my conservative parents in my hometown, I would have to give up my freedom as an artist and return to a closet I spent all my twenties working hard to get out of.

I've been living every day in constant debilitating anxiety and panic. Searching for a safe/affordable apartment and a paying job simultaneously is using up all my energy and will; my mental health has taken a massive hit with subsequent depression.

I'm on my last few dregs of hope and you guys here are it.

I want to be able to give back to the community with art and sketches soon. I want to be able to open commissions again once my living situation is sorted.

Art is bread and butter, and my happy place.

I'm gonna try to be off of Tumblr for a while-- possibly a month or more, and after that, we'll see.

This is related to my recent post about alternatives to the dystopian way that social media sites are going. Which, to be clear, is NOT a problem we only need to face "if KOSA passes," but is a systemic issue that's been going on a long time already.

(Case in point: the egregious transphobia that is Tumblr's current topic of the day. When communication is dependent on a corporation, and CEOs of corporations behave... the way they do... we need other options).

I VERY much appreciate that people are sharing that post and adding their own ideas and resources. Please keep doing that.

I'm just stepping out for a while because my part in that endeavor is gonna require some focus.

My goal is that, during this time, whatever time I would have spent posting and reading and checking my notifications on Tumblr... I will instead spend working on the website I'm making on Neocities.

It's a huge endeavor, because I am trying to combine a lot of different topics and projects in my weird complex life.

The url will be astercontrol.com. When it is ready to be publicly viewed, I'll change that placeholder page to the actual entry page of the site.

When that happens, you'll be able to see pages about my writing, my art, many different things I've worked on and thought about... and of course, as many resources as I can gather to help others with that same struggle of getting free from corporate-controlled communication.

Because people being able to share their thoughts openly might be the one thing that makes the biggest difference to... ALL the other problems in the world.

Without the level of free dialogue I've seen about Palestine, police brutality, trans rights, COVID, climate change, anything... I'd know only what mainstream publications felt like telling me. I'd be in no position to even realize what help was needed, let alone give the donations and signal boosts I've been giving. And that's where more and more people will be, the more our social media gets crushed under increasing corporate control.

My site will probably not be complete when you first see it. There will be lots of sections that still don't have any content yet. The whole project would just take far too long, and I want to open the site soon. The way social media is going, "finding alternatives" just jumped to the front of my priorities.

Please never forget that reading/engaging in political or identity discource = consuming propaganda. Full stop, period. The only way to protect yourself from that propaganda is to be capable of identifying it and subsequently avoid it when its unproductive, and taking care of yourself. Even with the best information, you are not immune to its effects because propaganda has multiple goals, always, and its not even always something the person spilling it is aware that they're even doing. At this point, most of the time propaganda is administered unknowingly; its repeated and its often subliminal.

So if a particular situation happens a lot, especially a type of arguement or general topic, and it sends you spiraling in the moment or through the days/weeks following [especially if it's due to hopelessness e.x. if every time you use Tumblr you end up having a "hopeless & everything sucks" episode...] ...evaluate why if you don't already know. You might not need to disengage from the subject completely, but definitely change how you approach it.

Even if you don't believe & aren't convinced by hateful arguements to join their ideology, if you feel hopeless, if you lose faith in humanity or think everyone is like that or anything similar; It Is Working. Think of propaganda as political manifestation.

The [main] way manifestation works is that you put energy out; an idea, a desire. In the right position, this can have profound effects. A streamer with thousands of adoring fans can successfully "manifest" money in their bank account simply by asking for or complaining about money trouble, and making a donation link available. Now, this isn't always malicious; if you are struggling and its your job you have every right to ask those with the ability to without endangering themselves to do that. Remember that. Until we're all out of the game, we have to play it on some level. Another version of this is when you look in the mirror and decide to fake confidence until its real; done correctly this results in you acting more confident, which results in you getting better results when you attempt to do things, which results in success, which results in the affirmation that you are justified in having confidence, which results in that confidence becoming real.

I digress, I wanted to say this; the safest way to engage in political change is to exit conversations that go in circles (as soon as you see that thats whats happening) that stress you out profoundly where you or the other gets aggravated. Take a break and go do something for your sanity—like interact with people with healthy ideology that doesn't make you want to chew glass.

If you cannot change someone's mind in a subject, if you lack the right words to successfully change someone's mind because you cannot communicate in a way that they can comprehend; Stop Trying. It's not healthy for anyone. It simply isn't your job, because if it was you'd be succeeding. This isn't a "failure" on your part, its simply not what you need to be doing. Frankly, if you keep argueing and all it does is piss people off, chances are you're having the opposite of intended effect on politics. So please...focus on taking care of yourself. I, a blogger, need money from you. And I can answer these questions- me personally. Don't ask around. Don't search my name in the search bar. What, you don't trust me? I came to you, with my dying cat, and you want to RUN A BACKGROUND CHECK? Shame on you!!!

This person is holding my dying cat ransom. They want one thousand dollars. You are a bad person if you do not help me come up with the money.

This individual entered my house for a "grindr hookup", and absconded with my cat. My cat has feline autism (as diagnosed by my chiropractor, message for receipts). In order to stay calm, he needs to sit with me as I smoke weed, and inhale the secondhand smoke. I am devastated. I do not know how long it has been since Jim Cummings (not the actor. that's my cat's name. after Catdog. The cat half. Of Catdog.) has been able to inhale smoke particles, and it's the only thing that keeps him from attacking furniture. If I cannot secure the safe return of Jim Cummings, he will go into one of his "feral rages", and I fear for both the safety of my little kitty, and for those who are holding him ransom.

IF I WANT TO SEE MY SWEET LITTLE KITTY AGAIN, I NEED TO RAISE ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS

making this post bc it’s an emergency. i am indigent, disabled, and earning barely enough to cover rent by caring for my disabled sister for 10 days outta every month. my mom gets paid over 5k as my sister’s guardian, she pays me $400 (and will only go as much as 550 sometimes, if i do extra work) and unfortunately this is not a job im allowed to walk away from w/out jeopardizing things, and i need to have rent security til i can get approved for disability. in the meantime it’s putting me in constant flare-ups/crashes and i am rlly struggling to survive off of this small amount bc it only covers my half of rent, leaving nothing for my other responsibilities. i have cut every non-essential expense, i have pawned/sold what i can, i have gone without necessary meds/dr’s visits, i have given plasma. i’m so damn stressed and exhausted and i just want everything to stop now but it doesn’t ever look like it’s going to.

i'm aware i don’t have as big of a following on here anymore, also, idek how tumblr shows my posts to the followers i’ve manage to keep. but please, please- if u do happen to see this will u please reblog this so it has a chance of getting in front of more eyes? I am in desperate need of money for things like: prescriptions, personal hygiene products, otc medicines, dog food, and more essentials. Regarding a lot of upsetting things I’ve been hearing about Etsy;

To begin, I can’t ignore the reports I’ve been hearing about the company’s stance in support for is//rael and their practice of taking down listings that show support for Palestine or donate proceeds towards them. It stands in direct opposition of my personal political beliefs, which I have tried to make as clear as possible through the information and posts that I have boosted and shared on ALL my social media, not just here. What’s going on in Gaza is an open and deliberate campaign of genocide, and it’s sickening how long it’s been allowed to go on without any interference from the rest of the world. I want to do all I can to support the people of Palestine and keep calling for a permanent ceasefire.

I’ll admit, I didn’t really want to make my merch store on Etsy in the first place. I did so at the request of someone I know IRL who has been coaching me as I try to revive my art career. I’d been avoiding it due to details I’d heard through the Artist Grapevine about how unfair their policies are to the creators who try to make a living using their platform, and have now experienced firsthand the ridiculous premiums they charge for every single service they provide. The only reason my mentor advised me to set up a shop there was for networking purposes, and to make my items as easy to find as possible. At the time of making this post, my store hasn’t even been open for a month, but it’s taken up a huge portion of my daily life just to set it up and monitor it, and it has already been linked to all of my social media accounts. Now that I’ve sunk all this time into it, it seems like a depressing waste of time and energy to close the shop and have to start from the ground up on another platform. That, and I know for a fact that my mentor is keeping an eye on my progress and will expect me to keep it open, and I’m not sure how to explain my reasons to her if she sees me backing out.

Being on Etsy was far from my first choice for setting up an online merch shop. In the immediate future, I’ll be looking at other options. Most people I know use BigCartel, which I’ve heard good things about, and I do plan on creating more digital items to upload to my Gumroad store. As far as I know, neither of them have made any moves in support of is//rael, so if anyone is aware of related news that I haven’t heard about yet, feel free to let me know.

So far, I haven’t made many sales on etsy, and hopefully traffic will remain on the low side so it won’t be too big a transition to move my shop somewhere else. I don’t know the exact numbers, but I’ve definitely donated more to help Palestine than I’ve made off my etsy store since it opened back in January. Rest assured that I want to leave the platform as soon as I possibly can. In the meantime, however much money I make on my Etsy store, I will be matching or exceeding the amount in donations to pro-Palestine organizations.

I strongly discourage anyone from shopping on etsy, and if you do have interest in any of my merch items, I’m completely willing to sell them to you directly through DMs with payments over Venmo. I’m still making art, and I want to share it with you, without perpetrators of ethnic cleansing benefiting from it.

If you have no money but you DO have a minute, go to Arab.org and participate in the daily click. I’ve been returning to it every day, and the button can be clicked multiple times if you open it in different browsers or on different devices.
