Before I shuffled, I couldn’t help but feel lonely, like there’s this pang in my chest whenever I think of life and the current state of the world. It reminds me of the term “loneliness epidemic” and how so many of us are struggling to make friends or maintain pre-existing relationships. I think you are beginning to find emotional fulfillment in different things than you did before. Nothing may have worked out - at least, the things that used to work out aren’t working out anymore. There’s this voice inside of you begging for a new beginning, for clarity, and it’s slow but surely coming towards you. Where your energy is will wildly depend on how much you’ve listened to that inner voice already, but it’s a calling towards something new, regardless.

I think you’re scared because you haven’t done this before. You may be discovering things about yourself as well that are quite surprising, like new hobbies or gifts. It’s refreshing too, both painful and refreshing. Sort of like the concept of growing pains - growing up is not easy and there are no guidelines, no roadmaps. Often, we discover things through trial and error.

You may have withdrawn your energy as well, especially from old social circles. I get the feeling you were unsatisfied. Things felt stuck. They may still feel stuck, boring and completely lost in the routine of it all. It’s okay. You’re growing. Bones can hurt when they heal and grow. The same goes for you. I see snakes here, shedding their old skin. In your case, I don’t think you have found a “new skin” already, but you’ve shed your old life either way. It’s okay to want more, pile one. It’s okay to change. We’re ever-evolving. What suited you then won’t suit you now, that’s how life goes, with the changing of the seasons. All the piles have had somewhat similar themes, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you have felt drawn to either pile one or two, but this one feels like a continuation of it, so it could be that you’re transitioning from one to another. You may have found a new job, a stable relationship, a good circle of friends. Online Grimoire/journal Page 2

Page 2 is yet another tarot reading. I feel like tarot is maybe the first step that is easy enough for me to do in my witchy practice and then post here. I find it beneficial to journal, but sometimes journaling is hard because without knowing what I'm feeling, how am I supposed to write about anything? I succumbed to that Zenful Note Tiktok shadow work book. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but still not entirely helpful from a current self-care place. Obviously it's a shadow work book, so it's more past focused but right now I don't think I need to try to understand my past. Not quite yet. I will eventually, but to be able to understand my past self I need to understand my current self.

4 years ago, I thought Tarot wasn't super necessary to self care or witchery in general. It seemed hard, and it kind of is, but now that I've taken a couple days to actually consider it and try it, I think it's going to be extremely beneficial for me to be able to help myself, as someone just now coming back into things.

Tonight was my first tarot reading in very long time, aside from my Getting To Know Your Deck reading. (<-link if you're curious)

Let's get right into it! <3

I looked up some self care Tarot spreads but none of them seemed right for my personal needs currently, so I created my own little three card spread. I'm using the Antique Anatomy Tarot deck for this!

At what point did my life [get to where it is now] and less caring for myself?

The Moon - Pisces - 9 - Blue

Key words: Preparation, mastery, wisdom, introspection, dreams, calm, sadness, grief, boredom, illusion, unknown, deception.

My interpretation: By the looks of it, it seems like by pulling the Moon, the deck is trying to tell me that there are many things that have happened over the past couple years that could've contributed to the way I am today, but that I shouldn't place blame on one singular thing, especially if me asking this question means i'm trying to put majority blame on anyone who isn't me. But aside from that, in 2021 I had a friend commit suicide, and for a very long while I grieved that. Not too long after, I got into a relationship with, you guessed it, a Pisces. The relationship did cause me a lot of personal sadness, he wanted things I wasn't ready for, and I did things I regretted out of boredom in the relationship. Both of those are things I could pinpoint of where it sort of started, between grieving and friend, grieving a part of myself I lost because of a relationship I was in, and then grieving a part of myself I wasn't proud of/never knew of because of that same relationship.

Interestingly enough, the word "mastery" came up, which only stuck out to me because I agreed to join a team of people to "master" a hobby I enjoyed, which has inevitably added even more stress into my life and caused me to fall a little deeper than I would've if I hadn't agreed to do that.

2. If I continue the way I am, what can I expect from my future?

3 of Elixirs - Water - 3 - Purple

Key words: expansion, groups, growth, nurture, mystery, dreams, prophecy, high power, connection, social pleasure, gathering, good times

My interpretation: Ha Ha Ha. You know this isn't what I meant. Or, maybe you genuinely didn't know, maybe next time I'll have to be more specific. If I continue the way I am, of course I'll gain more "friends", be in a bunch of different groups of people, have more social pleasures, connections, and good times, but at what cost was the real question? Maybe by not giving me an answer directly, the deck is trying to tell me that I haven't put anything at risk quite yet. Maybe I am overthinking, or I have anxiety, or I believe I've hit a level that I haven't yet. Maybe I really will just have fun and a good time.

3. What, if anything, needs to change for me to better care for myself?

Knight of Blades - Air - 6 - Black

Key words: fairness, solution, values, witty, fair, inventive, fear, power, mystery, pain, assertive, arrogant, quick witted, severe, impatient, argumentative.

The Knight, as a person: Assertive, [manipulative?], typically friendly but if insulted, temper can be severe.

The Knight, as a situation: Rapid change, "seize the day", easy to get swept into the madness. You can do anything as long as you keep a clear mind. Be self-assured, but try not to cross into arrogance.

My Interpretation: Yeeeeeah. This is about me. It's gotta be, I can't think of anybody else in my daily consistent life who is like this except for me. Also, the element here is Air which I have a very air dominant chart. It only makes sense that this is me. Which, given the question I asked, makes sense. What needs to change for me to be able to take better care of myself? I need to be able to practice my assertiveness without being aggressive. The 2 go hand in hand for me. To be able to continue to do the things I'm doing that I'm scared are hurting me, I need to be able to keep a clear mind, keep my values in order, keep my power over these things or else I'll just continue to hold on to this fear and become worse than I already am. I don't exactly know how I need to do that, but it seems like when I figure it out, it needs to be rapid. No more being patient and slow with myself, rapid changes seem to be the way the deck is telling me to go...as long as I don't get swept away into the madness of what I already have going on, or swept away in the madness that rapid changes may trigger if I go that route...hm.

This reading was necessary for me to be able to confirm things I was already halfway considering. While I didn't get a lot of help on the roads I need to take, I have a clearer idea of why I may need to go certain ways than others. Granted, my questions were slightly open ended, less asking for direct guidance and more asking about why things are the way they are. Maybe the next time I come back to the topic of this reading, I'll ask better questions about more specific guidance. Also, the deck said it was going to be real and not sugar coat things to me and I see what it means now. Very nice, Antique Anatomy. Well played and thank you <3

Day 15 of Brigid Muirin, Tarot Journey, and Herbalist Jessa's February "Let's Grow Together" Leo Full Moon ⤳ Pisces New Moon Challenge: Reading.

I trained as a Lay Herbalist decades ago, all through High School. And in my early 20's I wrote my first book about Herbal Medicine- which I still remember someone reviewing as "more like a report on toxicology than a book on Herbal Medicine"; I still get a chuckle about that ... It really wasn't a great book, however. None of my books ever were, ha.

When I re-dedicated myself to the Verderer's path after returning to Wicca in 2021, I decided to RE-train my Herbalism with better schools. Unfortunately my first formal retraining teacher / school wound up being a complete flop and I was profoundly disappointed. And as of yet I haven't bothered finding better school to enroll in as, since then, I've started on payment plan for Hearing Aids finally.

You win some, you lose some.

Thankfully, though, there's plenty of self-study resources out there- and Kitchen Herbalism (or Lay Herbalism) has always been a valid path; I never planned on being a Clinical or otherwise professional Herbalist anyways. And so it's back to reading through the massive To-Be-Read stack I've piled up around here over the years.

I just added this Nat-Geo issue on "Nature's Best Remedies" to said TBR stack while were grocery shopping last night; I happened to spot it while we were in the checkout line before heading home, and threw it in. I have another one from my old Covenmate on "Healing Remedies" from Nat-Geo that I also need to read and return to her at some point, too.

I'll get through it all eventually 😬

I think it will be a very committed marriage with The Hierophant and The Magician and I think you could be enjoying your day a lot as you have previously voiced how you wanted the wedding to be like and things will most likely go accordingly. Goals for the New Year (aka Me 2024)

Last year, I created a list of goals/resolutions that I wanted to accomplish, but I don't think I ever posted them here on Tumblr. As a result, I can't really do a post-mortem like I did in 2022, 2021 and 2020.

But that's ok because I don't really feel like doing a breakdown of what I accomplished and didn't accomplish this year anyway. Partially due to laziness, and partially due to the fact that this year has been a doozy -- to say the least.

Needless to say, I managed to weather the storm pretty well because I'm still standing. And although I'm still trying to sort out what comes next on a grander scale (::cough:: finding a new job ::cough::), I want to remember that life isn't all about my career.

So without further ado, here is the Canva image I created to use as a visual reminder of the goals I want to work toward throughout the year:

Every tarot reading I've watched for Pisces on what to expect in 2024 seems to be mostly positive. But I am a firm believer in the balance of shadow and light, so I'm sure both will find me in the Year of the Dragon.

Ultimately, I am grateful for the year I've had, despite its twists and turns. I managed to squeeze a lot of living in between the moments of constant change. And life is still giving me moments of joy, even if I may not always deserve it.

The more I work with this deck, the more it feels like a real-talk oracle card, really a thing of its own. Not a toxic positive overly optimistic oracle deck that sees the world through rose colored glasses, certainly, but not the depth and complexity that the 78 RWS or the 130+ card Alleyman's Tarot. A bigger deck with smaller layouts seems to be the sweet spot for my intuition.

See, we learned something right there.

Finding - and frequently using - your intuitive comfort zone is not only OK but it is a good idea to better readings for yourself in the end. BUT at the same time learning, growing, and expanding that comfort zone is equally important. How else are you going to know what your optimum intuition conditions ARE?

That little bit of meta-analysis aside, let's look at today's card, the Snake.

All of the animal related ideas from the Bear last week still apply, just swap out the bear characteristics for snake characteristics.

Which I may not be super objective about.

I was born in the year of the wood snake - the green snake. After I learned about Taoism, feng shui, I ching and the like, I've always resonated with my chinese astrology symbol just as much if not more than my western Pisces sun sign. Although I don't know anything about sidereal vs tropical astrology, all I know is that I'm Pisces in both, which in itself is supposed to mean something in itself, I think. I'll leave that to the astrology adepts of you to figure out. But back to Snake.

The Christopher Butler guidebook to this Healing Light Lenormand deck reads the Snake as someone deceptive with malicious intent (Hey!)

Like owls, snakes are feared in some cultures, revered in others. Makes sense, because in the real world the old nope rope may be either harmless or lethal and you have to know something about them to be able to tell which is which. That's not the snake being deceptive. It's up to you to know "Red touches black, no worries for Jack. Red touches yellow, dangerous fellow." and so on.

Knowledge arms you against deception, both literally and figuratively. But that's another story.

Chinese astrology, the restaurant place mat edition, reflects the real world duality. Snake year people can be stubborn, opinionated, intimidating with a heaping helping of hubris to go with it. But at the same time they are viewed as intelligent, wise, creative and intuitive.

Or, as the Sirius Black character says in one of the Harry Potter books "We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are."

Part of enlarging our comfort zone, part of learning new things is associating them with things we know well. Just like with the oracle dice from the last "Learn With Me" series I associate this with a few RWS Tarot cards, the Devil and the Three of Swords. Both acknowledge the malevolent side of human nature, cautions us to be on guard as well as asking us to be honest with ourselves about our deepest motives. Are we being deceptive, or are we being deceived.

As for the playing card inset, the queen of clubs, in my system of reading playing cards (I intend to write about that in an upcoming book) the Queen of Clubs is analogous to the Queen of Wands with a message of nurturing and self-care. Watching your back and taking care for your safety is, indeed, self-care.is

In astronomy, Aries zodiacal constellation in the northern sky lying between Pisces and Taurus, at about 3 hours right ascension and 20 degrees north declination.

Aries contains no very bright star; the brightest star, Hamal has a magnitude of 2.0. The first point of Aries, or vernal equinox, is intersection of the celestial equator with the apparent annual pathway of the Sun and the point in the sky which celestial longitude and right ascension are measured. The vernal equinox no longer lies in Aries but has been moved into Pisces by the precession of the equinoxes.

In astrology, Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, considered as governing the period from March 21 to April 19. beginning of the year thoughts

It's now 2021, and I've been in "quarantine" for 332 days... That's a long time to be stuck in the house, but here we are with a little sign of that changing. It's been an enduring time for sure.

There has been a great silence. A gulf of nothingness. I have had tons of post ideas, and probably about thirty drafts, but I never published them, and most are irrelevant now... Is this a sign of my ADHD or just a sign of not following through with my actions? Is one influencing the other? I've been stuck in my head, obviously.

But with this new year, I've found myself avoiding social media, and missing (and craving) the longform blogging that we used to do back in the 00's. I hope to resume some of that here.

A theme I have seen for this new year (mostly connected during the liminal time of Christmas through New Year), I have seen is discipline, in the form of self.

Then there's the yearly Tarot cards to help drive home these observational omens..

The universal card of the year: The Hierophant

a card that (roughly) stands for structure and conformity, tradition, tred and true methodology, and societal norms

My personal card of the year: Temperance

a card that (roughly) stands for balance, patience and moderation in life, avoiding extremes and maintaining a sense of calm.

These together pretty much imply facing the challenge of finding balance and flow, finding solutions to balance my life, and that pesky self control/self discipline. So, dear me, how do I plan on tackling this? I have a few books in my arsenal to try and learn from, mostly habit forming and behavioral changing.

It's hard to think that it's the astrological beginning of the year (happy Pisces season!), but it's already been a very long stretch since 01/01/2021.

Doing both Day 17 of Jasmyne Ambrosia's 28 Day Witchy Challenge (Research Your Birth Stone) and Day 13 of Brigid Muirin, Tarot Journey, and Herbalist Jessa's February "Let's Grow Together" Leo Full Moon ⤳ Pisces New Moon Challenge (Jewelry) together.

I'm a June baby, so I have several Birth Stones ⇥ Alexandrite (the one most commonly associated with June), Pearl, and Moonstone.

However, there's also a series of American specific Birth Stones recommended by George Frederick Kunz in 'The Curious Lore of Precious Stones'; it was his opinion that "Those born in the US should wear birthstones of US furnishing" ... For June in particular, he suggested Moss Agate- a stone found in Montana, California (my actual state of birth), Wyoming, and Arizona, and which was central to the Wyoming economy at the time around 1913.

I own a lot of jewelry, most of which is Vintage. This includes several pieces that actually do contain my Birth Stones- though I didn't buy them because of that specifically, and all of those pieces are modern.

My Moonstone bracelet was received as a "gift", as part of a Jewelry Subscription Box trial I cancelled; the Pearl pendant was my 5th Wedding Anniversary gift from my Husband; and the Moss Agate set (which also has earrings not pictured) I purchased myself as a devotional set for the Growing Green when I dedicated myself to the Verderer's Path after formally returning to Wicca in 2021 ... Alexandrite is the only Birth Stone for which I'm actually missing jewelry- though I used to have a Class Ring set with it in High School. I've no idea what happened to it, sadly.

I've studied them all at this point, but I think Moss Agate's the most fitting for me as a Verderer and has the most interesting Metaphysical properties ⇥

🌿 Wearing it is pleasing to the Gods- especially those with Vegetative domains (Orpheus and Cunningham)

🌿 It brings riches and helps one discover treasures (Cunningham)

* There does seem to be a strange modern penchant among New Age texts (which has started to make its way into Eclectic NeoPagan texts) to separate out a "Tree Agate" from Moss Agate. I haven't been able to find any legitimate basis- historical, aesthetic, or otherwise- for this separation, however. Nor have I found its origins as of yet ... But it seems to ultimately be a superfluous and unnecessary separation of the many designs Moss Agate can be found in.
