First off is a very simple argument: If he's planning on outing Colin, why didn't he take a picture of him and Michael? This man used to be a reporter. He knows he needs evidence - a rumor can hurt but it can also be denied. If he saw them and thought "ah, yes, this would be good for the public to know" he would have taken a picture.

Next, I call to the stage episode two of season three. The entire team didn't (or more correctly wasn't allowed to) trust Trent. They seemingly hated him. Eventually, it was Roy who gave them the a-okay to even talk around him, and Roy isn't typically a forgiving man. If Trent outed Colin, he would be squandering that respect and trust because if Roy doesn't like him, the team doesn't like team either. And Roy would hate Trent for doing something like that, for hurting a player like that. And Trent's not an idiot, he knows this.

In relation to this, another person would turn on Trent if he outed Colin; Ted. "Oh but Ted forgave Nate-" that's different. What Nate did affected Ted and Ted only. But if Trent, someone Ted let into the club while everyone else said no, betrayed his trust like that and hurt Colin, Ted wouldn't forgive him. And romantic or not, Trent needs Ted to respect him (see Examining And Editing Months Of Footage For Him).

On top of this, there's the simple fact that outing someone is a massive dick move. You'd have to have something massive to gain in order to out someone and still call yourself a good person. And Colin isn't just anyone. He's a professional, Premier League, footballer, famous around Richmond. Outing him would be forcing the title "First Out Premier League Footballer" onto him, which is a fucking target on his back. Trent, someone who followed and reported on football for ages, knows this. You'd have to be a horrible person to out someone with that much to lose, and Trent simply isn't. He's a likable character, and likable characters don't do something that horrible.

Finally, why does he even need to out Colin? To go in his book? With a history like Richmond's - the change in management, Ted's employment, Jamie leaving, Jamie returning, Roy retiring, Nate going from kit boy to coach, Nate going from coach to rival, Zava's signing, the winning streak, the match against West Ham - Trent's got plenty of information to include. There's no motive to out Colin anymore (nor was there ever but that's neither here nor now).

So there you go. Five reasons why Trent won't out Colin. See you tomorrow, when I will be proved correct.
