brainbuster_ More of a personal post than normal. I met HOOK in the summer of 2021 through a mutual love of photography. I've gotten to watch this dude do so much cool shit in the short amount of time between then & now. Got to follow him around for the entire day of his Dynamite debut. Still one of my favorite series of photos I've ever done. We made a collab portrait magazine. Seen him tag with a myriad of dream partners, wrestle on TV & PPV. Meet & Greets, signings. An action figure, signing that action figure, getting Dennis Rodman to sign that action figure. Shot photos of him covered in blood & in the middle of an empty time square. Chatted for countless hours about art and creative pursuits. & now sitting here on my couch watching HOOK main event AEW Dynamite challenging for the World Championship. Man I'm so fucking proud of that dude. Thankful + grateful for all the encouragement, the generosity, the validation, the time & the friendship. 🪝

I am Hasan Alaloul, I'm reaching out to you on behalf of My Family currently in Gaza, which suffered and still suffering since the previous war on 2021, when the Israelians attacked our house for the first time and killed my father Dr Mooein Al-Aloul الله يرحمه , and my mother and my little sister were seriously injuired as they were in the same room with my father. At this point my mother and sister were totally homeless and we spend the last two years in treatment my mother and sister, and rebuild our house. We finished rebuild the house just six months before the genocide 2023 started, and again our beloved house attacked for the second time; bombed again and completly destroyed in this war.
Between 2021 and 2023, my mother stayed with my brother and his family at his house, stand it between treatment and rebuilding the house. And my sister travel to Turkey for treatment and while there she started studying master degree as she believed that personal growth was the best way to move forward.
Aya -my little sister- suffers from severe burn injuries in her face and hands, and she was supposed to continue her treatment in Turkey and to graduate in February with a master degree in International Business but her dreams has shattered and now she is fighting just to survive another day with my mother and the rest of my family, they have escaped bombings on several occasions, and were displaced five times; it’s a miracle they are still alive until now!!
On April 2023, before the start of the genocide, we had finished rebuild our house and my mother stayed only six months at the house!! Then she came to visit me and my family, and thats when I saw her for the first time after 6 years, and my sister was very excited to see the house after completing it’s rebuild so they returned to Gaza on Septemper; just two weeks before the genocide started, she want to stay with my mother for few weeks in Gaza and they were planning to travel together to Turkey in December 2023 so that my sister could finish her last master semester.
But the Genocide started and turned this story to ashes, this war turned reality, future, dreams and hopes into ashes. Turned life into a Tent.
We survived the first time but this war literally destroyed everything and left my whole family grappling with profound challenges. The recent wave of destruction has left my mother, little sister, my brother and his family and my two other sisters and thier families homeless, live in a tent, without any possessions, without basic necessities to live including (water, food, clothing, bedding and medicine) and without any hope.
I'm in a situation having all those people on my responsibilty and I can't stand lose one of them after we already lost our father due to this conflict. My immediate goal to evacuate my family to a safe place away from the ongoing war.
The funds will be used for travel through the Rafah border crossing to Egypt and essential needs such as temporary housing, food, medical care and basic necessities for my family until we can establish a more stable situation where we can begin the process of rebuilding our shattered lives again.
Every donation, will make a significant difference in helping my family rebuild their lives regardless of it's size and provide the basic necessities for my family as devastation has left them in a precarious situation.
It makes me sad to have to ask for this and ask for help but I really don't know what to do. So I thought I'd try this Gofundme since I was running out of options and I am the sole breadwinner for the family now. I know this request seems impossible but I truly believe in miracles and God always with us and can make possible that which seems impossible. Autobarn by Bindloss Dawes
The Autobarn is the realisation of our client's long-term dream to house his collection of classic German cars. The project is composed of two volumes: a clean, five-bay garage for everyday use and a taller workshop for repairs and future restoration projects.
Beyond satisfying this initial use, the project ambition was to create a flexible, 'long-life, loose-fit' building that could be used for a range of different uses. Currently it doubles up as event space, however the ambition is that the Autobarn could one day become a low-energy house.
Located on the outskirts of a small Somerset village, the project is set within the grounds of an eighteenth-century Grade 2 listed house. It replaces several haphazard outbuildings and consolidates their amenity into an elegant architectural proposal, nestled within a glade of mature trees.
The project's design references the language of neighbouring agricultural barns. As a practice we are interested in reassessing the rural vernacular, both for its contextual appropriateness and its lessons in low-cost, pragmatic design. As such, the Autobarn re-interprets simple forms and methods of construction, adapting more temporary, rudimentary methods into a robust and elegant paradigm for low-cost, rural architecture. Composed of a concrete base and steel framed structure, intermittent timber cladding and zinc metal roof, the Autobarn adapts barn typologies with varying levels of refinement. Consideration was also given to its weathering, with the natural zinc roof dulling to complement the silver patination of the sweet chestnut cladding.
Like many barns, permeability to light and air is controlled through a series of movable layers. First experienced as a closed solid mass, the barn walls open up via a number of doors, including an heroic 7m sliding timber screen. The intermittent timber slats of the screens create internal dappled light during the day, which is reversed at night as interior lighting illuminates the surrounding landscape. Internally the steel structure is expressed in an array of simple portal frames, with sustainably-sourced wood-fibre acoustic board forming internal wall and ceiling. The garage space is calm and gallery-like, while the workshop space presents a tougher, taller workshop, surrounded with concrete wainscotting and designed to accommodate a car lift.
The building's 'long-life/loose-fit' ambitions have meant that the insulation and energy performance exceed residential standards. Although thermostats are currently turned down for its current use, the building includes underfloor heating powered by an Air Source Heat Pump, as well as additional first fix services hidden behind the internal wall paneling for future conversion.
Construction started in November 2020 and was completed at the end of 2021, with the project effected by the global pandemic and building material inflation. Despite these challenges, and the inclusion of some one-off expensive items (such as the electric garage doors), the Autobarn was built for under £2,300 / m2. In tandem with high energy performance and the use of natural materials, it combines our studio's goal to combine beauty, affordability, and sustainability.

I’m gonna list mainly Chinese media in this list, though, because that’s what I consume more. And ha! How brave, asking an ND person like me for recs. Prepare to be bombarded by my rambling!
Starting off with the media currently featured in my header (excluding Blue Lock coz most of my mutuals already know that)...
1. The Earth is Online (danmei* novel)

* Danmei - Chinese boys love stories
The plot basically: Everyone on Earth is pulled into a death game.
A good intro to the unlimited flow* genre. Each instance is thrilling and complex. The boys love aspect is not much, as it focuses on plot, but it’s definitely not subtle. The characters are also quite diverse. Most UF novels just focus on the Chinese characters and revolve around what happens in China, but this one actually features those from other countries. I also like how the protagonist isn’t treated as the entire world’s savior. Other people around the world are also doing their part.
Where to read: An official English release is coming out in 2024. Translations will be done by luckkoi, the fan translator. As such, they've taken down their translations online. There's an alternate translation by @leonsrightlations , but only a few chapters are out right now. There are several completed translations online, but they're all edited mtl (machine translation). If you don't mind that, you can go google it. I recommend the one by Rainbow Mushroom. Their translations require a password, though, and you can find that on their Discord server.
* unlimited flow - Chinese genre of web novels where the protagonist is pulled into different instances to complete challenges which, if failed, would result in punishment or even death. It’s basically the death game genre, but instead of just one game, there are multiple.
2. Legend of Hei movie + Legend of Luo Xiaohei series sequel (donghua*)
(I downloaded this video from YouTube years ago. I can no longer find it there, so I’m reuploading it here…)
* Donghua – Chinese anime
A story about the young cat demon Xiao Hei and his quest to find a new home after humans destroyed his old one. Cute cat + cool powers + awesome fighting scenes + clean and crisp animation.
You can watch this on Netflix, but it’s not available in all countries. There’s an English and Japanese dub available, but I strongly recommend watching it in the original Chinese. (I can send you the full movie with English subtitles if you want). The series, which takes place after the movie, can be watched on YouTube. S1 of the series is more slice of life, but s2 is action-packed.
3. Low Tide in Twilight (BL manhwa)

That BL trope where the bottom has a mountainload of debt, while the top gives him a way out… except, not really, coz the male lead Taeju is partly the creditor, and he’s forcing Euihyun into a relationship with him in exchange for money.
Typical BL story with an initially toxic couple, but better. Complex characters, and a manhwa that relies more on the art to tell the story instead of the words. Also, Taeju gives off that same annoying but hot vibe as Kaiser. What more do you want?
4. Link Click (donghua)

The title (时光代理人) would be literally translated as “Time Agents.” I have no idea why the official English title is Link Click.
The plot basically: Two guys with time-related powers run a photography shop, where they accept orders from clients to dive back in time through a photo.
Funimation did this donghua so dirty by not promoting it more back when it aired in 2021. The English subs were also terrible.
Did you know that it used to rank #20 in MAL, surpassing MP 100 S2, Jujutsu Kaisen, and many other mainstream anime? Now, it’s ranked #41 on MAL, lower than before, but still pretty high for a donghua on MAL. That’s just how good it is.
Here’s a link to the blu-ray version with fansubs. Just pick the normal English track option and not English (CR).
Edit: OKAAAY, it turns out that link has the episode order all mesed up. Just ask me if you need an HD copy with good fansubs.
5. White Cat Legend 2020 (donghua)

Title (大理寺日志) would be literally translated as The Journal of Dali Court.
Another cat boy donghua! Can you tell I just love cats?
The plot: Chen Shi travels from the countryside to the big city to search for his missing brother and inadvertently ends up working at Dali court under the cat guy Li Bing.
Slice of Life + Comedy + Drama + Supernatural + Mystery + Action
Baiting you with a hot guy gif~
It's a historical show btw, so expect some references to real-life events.

Wendy Red Star is an Apsáalooke artist born in Billings, Montana, and based in Portland, Oregon. Red Star mines archival materials from photographs, maps, legal documents, recordings, artworks, to sacred objects that speak to the multivalence of Apsáalooke experience. Using a wide range of mediums and strategies from photography to installation, Red Star challenges existing histories of Native Americans, particularly related to her Crow heritage and from a distinctly feminist Indigenous perspective. Zanele Muholi (born 1972) is a South African artist and visual activist working in photography, video, and installation. Muholi's work focuses on race, gender and sexuality with a body of work that dates back to the early 2000s.
These "are images that challenge the meanings of identity, race and resistance, forcing us to reflect on the possibilities of a black woman in today's global society - especially in conventional media and spaces. “I want to encourage individuals in my community to be brave enough to occupy these spaces; to create without fear of being defamed. A wildlife photographer has managed to capture intimate images of the rarely spotted snow leopard high in the mountains of India's Ladakh region. Sascha Fonseca captured the stunning shots during a three-year trap camera photography project from 2019-2021. The images show the endangered cat, known among locals in northern India as the Ghost of the Mountain, stalking its natural habitat more than 2.5 miles above sea level.

Mr Fonseca said he was attracted by "the challenge to photograph these rare and hard-to-find big cats in their natural environment".  "By sharing their beauty with the world I hope to raise awareness about their existence and the importance to protect their habitats," he added. Mr Fonseca spent hours in mountains setting up his camera traps, building the weatherproof housing to protect the cameras himself. Despite contending with brutal working conditions - high altitude, low oxygen levels, rugged terrain, and extreme weather - Mr Fonseca hopes his work will bring heightened awareness to these majestic, endangered creatures. "Habitat loss due to human expansion is the main problems followed by a number of related issues. That’s why it’s so important to create public awareness."

There’s a part of TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s ongoing world tour, titled “ACT: SWEET MIRAGE” (snag tickets here!), where the spotlight hits on Yeonjun as he staggers down the catwalk that runs through the center of the arena. The solo is preceded by choreography featuring his bandmates, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai; in the moment that follows, though, all eyes are on Yeonjun — and he sells every second of it.Flashback to the morning before the concert, Yeonjun sits for a conversation about this particularly extraordinary time for TOMORROW X TOGETHER. “My everyday life is about practice and preparing for performances,” he says, his voice still low and gravelly from sleep. “Imagining how MOA will be enjoying our performances? That’s the driving force.”
While MOA are undoubtedly the focus these days, Yeonjun has always had a certain fire to him. Always pushing himself to the best he can be, he developed a reputation during his time spent training at the former Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE). In a recent interview with SUGA of BTS, Yeonjun and Taehyun revisited the nickname the former earned in the years he spent perfecting the vocal, dance, and performance skills required to debut: “Big Hit’s Legendary Trainee.”
The instructional period young people undergo in the hopes of becoming K-pop idols is notoriously rigorous, and Yeonjun spent a longer stretch in that world than any of his TXT bandmates. If he were to pass a message to the Yeonjun working so hard to debut, he’d tell his younger self to keep going, because brighter days are coming: “You’re doing a good job. Just hold on a little longer.”
None of the members of TXT have hard-set “roles” within the group, besides Soobin’s responsibilities as the leader. (Often, K-pop groups will designate members rigidly as vocalists, dancers, or visuals, but TXT are fluid on that front). Like his bandmates, Yeonjun has become known as an “all-rounder,” a performer who can sing, rap, and captivate as a performer.
“There are a lot of times where I’ve had to dance by myself, representing the team, which served as a pressure,” he recalls. “But I think those pressures actually helped me grow into who I am right now, so I’m trying to think of it in a very positive way.”
The members of the band have existed in the public eye for over four years now. In that span, Yeonjun’s personal Instagram account has amassed a following of 13.7 million users. The idea of being perceived by this many people is dizzying, and it’s easy to wonder how Yeonjun himself would prefer to be seen by others.
“I think it’s very important to try and be a good person,” he offers. “I also like when people describe me as a cool person — or someone to be proud of.”
Yeonjun, whether chatting casually like this in a hotel room or charming an arena of thousands, does feel like the very definition of cool. In conversation, he’s confident and content with who he is. He loves movies, vlogs, and photography, and mentions that he’s interested in purchasing a film camera.

“I think what sets TOMORROW X TOGETHER apart from other groups is their willingness to challenge the stereotypes and standards that people often associate with the K-pop industry,” HYBE producer Slow Rabbit says of the members. “Whether it’s through genderless outfits or groundbreaking concepts, TOMORROW X TOGETHER fearlessly break down barriers and open up new possibilities for what a K-pop group can be.”
Yeonjun made his New York Fashion Week debut in 2021 walking for Concept Korea’s FW21, a collaboration between three South Korean designers. He has a particular affinity for the world of fashion and, out of the group, is perhaps most known for those genderless outfits Slow Rabbit mentions; when Yeonjun throws on a skirt or cropped shirt, it doesn’t feel performative.
TXT are bringing their distinct energy back to Lollapalooza this summer, and when Yeonjun received the news that TOMORROW X TOGETHER would be headlining, he called his family, friends, and even people he trained with prior to debuting in the group. “I think I actually have a lot of friends that I can share things with,” he says. “It’s such a relief and such a nice, nice thing that I have so many good people around me. I can really open up to them.” He describes his ideal day off as a time spent in the sunshine with his trustworthy inner circle.
At the end of the day, though, it does feel like TXT’s loyal fans are always top of mind for Yeonjun. “I’ve said this so many times, so it’s nothing really special, but we receive so much love from so many MOA,” he says earnestly. “I’m just so thankful, and I want to keep working to provide good music and good performances to a lot of people.”
Yeonjun, for as sharp and professional as he is onstage, is equally present and authentic offstage, too — and at the end of the day, what could be cooler than that?

"Hi my name is Angel and I’ve been learning photography since January of 2021. Mumubrix is my social media name. Mumu is a Filipino (Tagalog) word for GHOST which is one of my favorite subjects.

I would say that my style is leaning more towards incorporating emotions to my photos. Different kinds of emotions. I also like to add mist, rain, water as much as I can. My favorite subject are animals and spooky minifigs though I am confident to say that I am versatile with my photography. It all depends on my mood.I have a journal where I write my ideas, because I can't draw, and have been building more recently. Building bricks have been such a stress reliever and is a great mental challenge for me. It is great to just build, break it apart and rebuild something else. I get a lot of new ideas from daily experiences, interesting conversations with strangers and just sheer imagination.I also enjoy harsh lights and shadows. I love the shadows, it's art in itself. Being able to learn photography and manipulating light is magic!

This is my basic gear. I cannot live without a tripod, I have the very basic tripod you can find from Amazon and the pocket size for low angle photos. I mainly use this lamp for main light and use a flash and a pocket mist for added "effects". I use a Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera with a TT artisan macro lens. Everything here stays in my backpack except the tripod and the table lamp. If I want to make something float, I use the instant, the wire and the clamp to hold it, I also use the clamp to hold a piece of cardboard for bouncing the lights. I use the soldering hands if I need more floating pieces or if it’s a but windy outside. I have 2 more led lights that aren’t in this photo but I mainly use it if I take photos indoors.

My #1 challenge is my lack of knowledge about photography, light,compositions. All I have is my story and that's all I needed because I found this great community where people help and teach each other. I was using my phone to take photos before and I really thought they were great but thankfully, the constructive criticisms are there to steer me back to the correct path. Not knowing what looks good to begin with was the first challenge I had to break.

The #2 is my gear. I was learning through tips and tricks from Brickcentral and videos from Four Bricks Tall but there are just some things that a phone camera can't do like achieving that good Depth of field, catching those beautiful misty light and shadows without it looking flat. Or just being able to focus on one subject without having to blur everything in the background using an editing software. That's when I knew I had to upgrade and I'm so happy I did.

And #3 is my fear of getting ignored by the algorithm. I have always been someone to question rules and limitations and that makes me tend to experiment quite a lot. I enjoy creating photos that are not mainstream like Happy Happy photos or character photos. I enjoy creating mysterious ones or emotional ones where real people can relate. I enjoy self-expression. And yet social platforms made me wonder some time ago if I'm doing the right thing, or that maybe I should follow what everyone else is doing so people can like my photos more. In other words, I became a "photo people pleaser". I got burnt out after a month and stopped taking photos. Then I realized that my photography makes me happy, and it should make me happy. Not the other way around.

My goal is to help anyone who is wiling to learn about photography. I have been blessed to be taught so much by this community and would like to return it to the world. I believe that art is innate and it is in everything and that you just have to tap in the right kind of art, the right people to give you good direction and the patience to learn.

Currently at the USF Contemporary Art Museum is Native America: In Translation curated by Wendy Red Star and organized by Aperture. The work included offers viewers a chance to discover new perspectives on the Native American experience.

Native America: In Translation assembles the wide-ranging work of nine Indigenous artists who pose challenging questions about identity and heritage, land rights, and histories of colonialism. Probing the legacies of settler colonialism, and photography’s complex and often fraught role in constructing representation of Native cultures, the exhibition includes works by lens-based artists offering new perspectives on Indigenous identity, reimagining what it means to be a citizen in North America today.
Works included in the exhibition address cultural and visual sovereignty by reclaiming Native American identity and representation. Honoring ancestral traditions and stories tied to the land, Koyoltzintli (Ecuadorian-American, b. 1983) reflects on how the landscape embodies traditional knowledge, language, and memories. Nalikutaar Jacqueline Cleveland’s (Yup’ik, b. 1979) photographs of contemporary tribal communities in western Alaska document Native foraging and cultural traditions as a form of knowledge passed through generations. Revealing stories of trauma and healing, Guadalupe Maravilla (American, b. El Salvador, 1976) communicates autobiographical and fictional narratives informed by myth and his own migration story.
Expanding Indigenous archives and collective memory through photographic means, works by the late artist Kimowan Metchewais (Cree, Cold Lake First Nations, 1963–2011), drawn from his personal archive of Polaroid photographs, construct self-realized Native imagery challenging the authority of colonial representation. Excavating repressed colonial histories of invasion and eviction, Alan Michelson (Mohawk, Six Nations of the Grand River, b. 1953) reinterprets and repositions archival material to redress history from an Indigenous perspective. Marianne Nicolson’s (Musgamakw Dzawada’enuxw First Nations, b. 1969) light-based installation projects Dzawada’enuxw tribal symbols of authority and power onto colonized spaces to contest treaties that imposed territorial boundaries on Indigenous lands. Duane Linklater (Omaskêko Ininiwak from Moose Cree First Nation, b. 1976) reconfigured the pages sourced from a 1995 issue of Aperture, featuring Indigenous artists, creating space for artistic improvisation and reinvention across generations.
Reflecting on performative aspects of Indigeneity and the colonial gaze, Martine Gutierrez’s (American, b. 1989) series of photographs reinterpret high-fashion magazine spreads with a revolving roster of identities and narratives to question Native gender and heritage. Working across performance and photography, Rebecca Belmore (Anishinaabe, Lac Seul First Nation, b. 1960) creates powerful reenactments of past performances incorporating organic materials that reference knowledge, labor, and care of the Earth in defiance of state violence of Indigenous people.

I decided to take part for the first time in the Frugal Film Project
I heard about it on twitter, Thanks @davewhenham
I was so excited about this new project that I prepared a post about it:
"You know what? I'm joining Frugal Photo Project 😊
I've always wanted a project like this, but.. it was the wrong time or I haven't been part of a group and all alone is not so fun.
The rules are 1 year - 1 camera - 1 film . The camera should not be more expensive than $75.
I always wanted to try to be more consistent in my shooting, but instead I'm always trying new stuff. Every time I settle on a camera, which I feel is the One, it breaks on the next roll. And I 'm not superstitious, just all my cameras are old and faulty 😐🤭
These days I have a ney toy - a Soviet Zorki, however I suppress the urge to use it in the FPP, as it's not tested yet.
Therefore I decided to enter the project with one of my favorite cameras - Kodak Retinette ib. It's a favorite toy, however I don't shoot often with it. It's so smooth. I like to watch it and hold it, I like to shoot with it, I like the photos it does, I like how flawless it is. It's mystery why I don't use it more often. This project seems like the perfect way to connect more with the Retinette.
For film I decided on Kentmere 400 - very versatile and cheap enough. I just ordered 4 rolls.Yay!"

And then I found the wrong way that there is a film already loaded in it 🙈 - Ilford hp5+ to be exact 😄 and it was on the 6th frame. I even can't remember when I've loaded it, but maybe sometime in 2021. 2022 was some dark space for me and I almost haven't done any photography.
I just couldn't waste the roll with some meaningless shots around the house. I also realized that I don't have the time to shoot both films till the end of the month - I know myself, I am a slow shooter.
(Also, I realized such a long project will teach me a lot and I was tempted to choose a "harder" camera)

So another camera it will be. Enters Smena Symbol , cheapish Soviet toy camera, my first camera as a child. My father bring it to me (and one for my little sister) when I was a kid, after he got back from a business Trip to the Soviet Union back in the day.
At first my parents didn't allow me to use it. Then I was old enough, however it were poor times and the film was not cheap. I remember shooting with it once or twice.
Then there were digital cameras all over, and I remembered about it in 2014 when I rediscovered film again. I've run just few rolls through it. I wanted to try other cameras, bigger, fancier, the GAS level increased.
Now at first I had mixed feelings: it's definitely a challenge. I like to own it, but the shots are not brilliant. I don't like how it does color negatives. Black and white is better though. I always felt that the stops and the speeds are not enough: the biggest aperture is 4 and the fastest speed is 1/250.
I'm adding Lomo Blik accessory external rangefinder, bought some years ago for the equivalent of $7
I'm very excited. I already joined the dedicated facebook group and I'm pleasantly surprised how friendly and knowledgeable are the lovely people there.
