saw this edit on tiktok, they edited mbappé to écoute chérie by vendredi sur mer and… i fell in love. the song is sooo mbappé.
y/n got the job as kylian’s personal assistant. his previous assistant fired for unknown reasons. y/n had heard about kylian mbappé and his terrible attitude. she wasn’t excited to work with him. but, turns out.. he’s actually not that bad.

“y/n y/l/n, you’ve been accepted!” the notification pinged and appeared at the top of your screen. you clicked on it so fast.
one week ago.
“y/n, have you seen this? kylian mbappé’s management is looking for a new personal assistant.” your friend tells you during a phone call.
“oh really?” you ask.
“yes… and, you qualify for it! like a 100 percent. wait, i’m gonna send you the link.”
you received the message and clicked on the link, it was indeed an exclusive offer/application to becoming the footballer’s new personal assistant.
“y/n, you should really go for it. the pay is amazing and i’m sure it’ll be an awesome experience.”
you skim through the countless pages and listing of requirements and benefits the job offered. plus, you were indeed qualified for the job.
“mmm… i don’t know. everyone talks about how much of an asshole kylian mbappé is. how he’s a jackass with a shitty attitude and an unbearable ego, bigger than the universe.” you explain, iffy about this whole thing.
“oh please, it’s not like you’re gonna be all lovey dovey with the guy. imagine how much money you’ll be making. you want to quit your current job right now anyway.” your friend says, trying her hardest to convince you.
you laugh. “okay, you’re right. i’ll call you back, i’m gonna read through all the paper work, submit my résumé and update you on it.”
you weren’t too serious about it, you doubted that you’d actually get the job.
everything just got real. definitely serious.
you got the job, you were on call with the footballer’s management, and you were now getting familiarized with his schedule.
“alright, ms. y/l/n, we’ve spoken through all the things you’ll be needing to do for kylian. i’ve sent you an email of a file that lists all the things you must do for him. now, all we need is for you to sign a few things. it’ll take you about ten minutes. it wasn’t much before but… some things went down. so, we had to make a few arrangements.” kylian’s manager stated.
you just nod taking everything in and trying to process it at once.
you heard the ping from your phone, signaling you got the email.
“okay, perfect. today, i’ll show you around psg and tomorrow you’ll be meeting kylian.”
a tour guide took you around the stadium, briefly explaining different areas and rooms in the building to you.
it was a long day. you were now in bed, aimlessly scrolling on instagram because you couldn’t sleep.
you’re nervous. why?
the athlete you’ll be attending to is possibly the biggest asshole in paris, france and you’re gonna have to deal with it.
you decide to go on his instagram.
“k. mbappé, 94.1m Followers, 389 Following, 1204 posts.”
you click on the first photo presented and begin scrolling down.
in almost all photos he’s smiling, with a caption full of emojis and empowering words.
he looks so… sweet?
is this the same guy with the so-called “bad attitude?”
you fell asleep.
after scrolling through all one thousand, two hundred and four posts by kylian mbappé.
your alarm rang, loudly.
you groaned, getting up to prepare yourself for the day.
after getting dressed, you received a call from kylian’s manager.
“good mornin-“ you tried greeting politely, before cut off.
“good morning dear, i need you here in ten minutes.”
“it’s only 9:00, i was told to be there at 9:30. did something happen?” you ask, exasperated.
“yeah, well, kylian decided to come earlier than we thought and right now, he wants an organic green juice from le juice. it has to be from juicerie.” the manager explains.
“le juice is like fifteen minutes from where i am right now, how will i be able to make it in ten?” you say, slightly panicking.
“well, find a way. mbappé cares about his health, a lot. all that stuff about nutrition and good food is the key to health. if you didn’t know, now you do. be here in ten, please darling!” the managers says in a cheery voice before hanging up.
first day on the job and they were already trying to make the impossible, possible.
you quickly go on the website for le juice and order and paid online for a medium organic green juice for pick-up.
you catch a taxi and head over to le juice. it was a five minute drive because it was still a bit early and the streets hadn’t start to fill yet, luckily.
you ask the taxi driver if they could wait for a quick second while you grab the order from inside.
the taxi driver fussed a bit yet ultimately decided to wait.
again, you were able to swipe up the juice since the shop just opened and customer didn’t pile up in the juice bar.
you hop back in the taxi and make your way to the stadium.
“tsk, your first day on the job and you’re seven minutes late. you better hurry up and get in there.” the manager scolds you once you arrive, outside the office room of psg.
“well, you should’ve told me i would have to be here earlier, you cunt.”
you didn’t actually say that, you thought it, but, you didn’t say it.
you quickly enter the room, with a little a stumble, almost tripping on your own feet. you quickly laugh at how much of a mess you are.
the room is packed, there’s people everywhere, most likely other staff members. you see at the corner of the room, there’s a small crowd of people surrounding something.
you squeeze in between people, trying to find a way through.
“excuse me. yea, sorry. my apologies. let me just squeeze in. i’m sorry.” you murmur out while gliding through the people in the packed room.
that’s when you were faced with him.
he’s exactly like those photos on the internet, a vibrant face, smiling while the people around him asks him questions like how’s his morning, would he like anything to drink, trivial things to simply make conversation. 
the infamous kylian mbappé.
you cleared your throat, put on your most brightest smile and polite voice.
“mr. mbappé, this is your organic green juice.” you say, putting your hand out to give the drink.
the area becomes quiet as the attention shifts on you.
you briefly look around confused.
and the smile that was once on kylian’s face had disappeared.
it was replaced with a hard stoned, cold glare.
“the fuck?” you thought.
he grabs the drink from your hand, not even thanking you before continuing the small talk with staff around him.
you try your hardest not to make a face at his rude behavior.
you brush it off.
literally.
brushing yourself off, taking a deep breath. putting on a polite voice again, you introduce yourself.
“hello, my name is y/n. i’m sure your manager already told you about me, i am your new personal assistant. if you ever need me, for anything, feel free to let me know. that’s my job, of course.” adding in a little humor to lighten the atmosphere, reaching your hand out.
once again, the area of the room goes silent. his smile falls once again and he slowly turns to look at you.
“d'accord. où est ma paille?” (okay. where is my straw?)
the crowd laughs.
you reach out your bag, handing him the straw before walking away.
“the rumors are true. he’s insufferable. literally an asshole. a two-faced scum? who even treats someone like that? no wonder his old assistant left. who’d want to deal with that.” you were now on the phone with your friend who encouraged you to apply.
“y/n, calm down. i know it was frustrating, but, it’s just your first day. at least quit after you get your first check.” your friend said, trying to comfort you.
yea, that’s right. y/n cried. cried very hard. today was extremely difficult.
you followed kylian everywhere, attempting to tend to his needs, but, all he did was be rude or downright ignore you.
“sir, how are you feeling? would you like for me to schedule a massage for you, in case you are feeling tense?” you ask.
“do i look tense to you?”
“mr. mbappé, your manager has informed me that you have a meeting on friday at 3pm.”
“who makes meetings on friday? i’m not going, you’re going. i have to relax.”
“mr. mbappé-“
“please stop bothering me. aren’t you my assistant? why must you keep calling out my name, you’re here to handle my business.”
“i don’t even know what i did to him? why should i get treated like this? it makes no sense.” you complain to your friend.
“i’m sure it’ll get better eventually… hopefully.”
“yea, hopefully.”
it’s been two weeks, working as kylian mbappé’s personal assistant.
to say y/n felt drained would be an understatement.
fourteen endless days of talking to a brick, solid wall.
a brick, solid wall with snarky remarks and a stinky attitude.
“mr. mbappé, your driver is outside waiting for you. he has the specific refreshments you asked for.” y/n says.
“alright, walk me to the car.” he says.
y/n’s concerned because he usually just nods and walks to the car himself.
as the two makes their way to the car, kylian starts conversation.
“your name, y/n, right?”
this is weird.
so weird.
“yes, sir. y/n y/l/n.”
“alright y/n, can you cook?”
“yes, i can cook, why?” y/n questions.
“génial. je veux que tu cuisines pour moi. (great. i want you to cook for me).” kylian says nonchalantly.
y/n stops dead in her tracks as kylian continues to walk.
“so, now i have to cook for this man? really?
well, it is your job…
oh, shut up. i know that!
just saying…” you internally battle with yourself.
he turns around, “well are you coming? i don’t have all day and i’m starving.”
you snap out of it, speed-walking to catch up.
“why are you standing by the door?”
you were in your bosses house. well, it’s not out of the ordinary because you are his personal assistant.
however, this is a drastic jump from a few days ago, when he didn’t even want you near him.
“are you okay, mr. mbappé? it looks pretty bad. i can go get you some soothing gel!”
he hurt himself pretty badly while trying to perform a trick during practice.
“no! i’m fine. don’t touch me, move!”
he spat out, stumbling to get up by himself.
you back up in utter shock.
other staff runs up to offer him support as he limps away.
mbappé’s pov:
his new personal assistant stood at the door, looking like a lost puppy that was left for dead on a rainy night.
kylian knew he was being hard on her, harsh to her. but, he couldn’t let his guard down.
he refused to let history repeat itself.
“why are you standing by the door?” he asks.
y/n seemed to be lost in her thoughts when he said that because she snapped up and made her way into the house after taking off her tory burch sandals.
kylian observed the woman as she subtly looked around the place before making her way to the kitchen.
he couldn’t lie. she was beautiful. she could be on the cover of a makeup magazine because of how natural and pretty her features were.
he wishes he could see her smile. most of the time she wears a frown on her face, sometimes a pout that kylian finds endearing. he wouldn’t show that though. or.. say it, ever.
her hair looked so soft, her voice was so nice on the ear. she had a nice figure, ones of a dancer, delicate, light on the feet.
“mr. mbappé? did you hear what i said? i asked, what exactly would you like for me to cook?” she said. he loved her voice, utterly. like a bee, wanting to drown in honey. he wanted to drown in her voice, listen to it forever.
“call me kylian.”
for some reason, he finds himself wanting to get to know her. get closer to her.
y/n’s pov:
‘oh God, he’s staring.’ you think to yourself.
y/n has made her way to the kitchen after taking in the penthouse. it was so nice and luxurious. she wondered how much or how long she’d have to work before ever living in a place like this.
she began looking in the cabinets, taking out a few pots and pans before realizing her boss didn’t even tell her what he wanted to eat.
“mr. mbappé, what exactly would you like for me to cook.” y/n says, an attempt to ease the tension.
‘he’s still staring. what the hell is wrong with him?’
“mr. mbappé? did you hear what i said? i asked, what exactly would you like for me to cook?” she repeats.
he looks you straight in the eye.
“call me kylian.”
you two continue making eye contact, you thought you’d feel uncomfortable, but, it’s rather… nice? it feels nice. it’s the first he’s ever actually acknowledged you.
you break the eye contact, clearing your throat.
“alright, if you don’t have anything set in mind, i’ll just cook and try to make do with whatever you have here.” you say.
it’s been about 50 minutes and you’re finally done cooking. you made steak & farfalle pasta with creamy tomato sauce.
kylian went into his bedroom since you began cooking and hadn’t come out. but, you did hear faint music coming from his room.
you begin to plate his food nicely, setting it on the kitchen island with a glass cup of ice water.
luckily, you clean along the way while cooking so there wasn’t a mess. you were tired, you wanted to get home and unwind.
you walk up to his bedroom door, about to knock, when the door swings open.
“oh! i was just about to knock. the food is ready.” you say slightly surprised.
he doesn’t say anything.
but, you could care less. your attention shifts to the song being played in the background.
“is that écoute chérie by vendredi sur mer? i love that song so much.” you say excitingly, completely forgetting that you’re at work. technically.
“yeah, it is. i love that song too.” he replies with a small chuckle.
‘did he just chuckle? with me? did kylian mbappé, my rude ass boss. chuckle… with me?’
you smile, looking at the small smile that adorned his face as he chuckled.
you won. you’re winning mbappé over.
mbappé’s pov:
he was in his room, sipping on some expensive red wine from a brewery that gifted him some.
he felt at peace, moments like these to himself. drinking something, listening to music, letting loose.
not only that, but, most likely, he could smell the aroma from the food his personal assistant, y/n was making for him.
its been a little while, he was gonna go check on the food.
his favorite song comes on.
“partir, venir, mourir, courir.”
what a lovely song. he sings to himself, along the chant before making his way to the door.
opening it, there she was.
“oh! i was just about to knock. the food is ready.” she says, obviously a little spooked.
he doesn’t care about that, though. the more he looked at her, the more time he spent around her, the harder it got to suppress his obvious attraction to the woman.
he visibly sees something click in her head as she moves from his sight to get a better hearing of what was being played.
“is that écoute chérie by vendredi sur mer? i love that song so much.” she says.
‘God, she’s so cute.’ he thinks to himself.
“yeah, it is. i love that song too.” he says, trying to hold back the ‘awe’ he wants to say so bad.
she smiles.
kylian felt like his heart could explode.
without absolutely zero exaggeration, she has got to have an award for having the most beautiful smile in the universe.
that smile right there—convinced kylian that he would make it his mission to always see that smile as long as y/n’s around him.
y/n turns around, leading him to his meal.
his stomach grumbles as he lay eyes on the food. it looks delicious. better than any five star michelin restaurant he’s been to. would probably taste better as well.
he’s confused, though. there’s only one plate of food.
he turns to y/n.
“where’s your food?”
“oh, i only made food for you, sir-“
“kylian, call me kylian.”
“yes, i’m sorry, kylian.”
“i’m gonna wait here for you to finish your food so i can wash your plate, then i’ll be out your hair, if that’s fine with you, kylian.”
he knows he can’t just let her leave like that.
he doesn’t know what he’s doing, but he thinks he knows what he wants.
“that’s fine. come sit down.” he says, pulling out the chair next to him.
y/n hesitantly makes her way and gets seated. kylian slides over the glass of ice water to her.
“no, it’s for you.” y/n explains.
“i know, but, just drink it. i have some wine in my room.”
“okay, do you want me to go get it and pour some out for you?” y/n says, about to make her way there when kylian gently pulls her down.
“no, no, it’s fine. relax.” he says.
kylian begins eating, almost scarfing the food down.
y/n takes a sip of the water while looking at him eat.
“is it good?” y/n asks.
he stops for a second, chewing and swallowing what’s in his mouth.
“very. best meal i’ve had in a long time, y/n. thank you.” he says with a genuine smile on his face.
y/n smiles back before bringing the glass cup up to her lips and drinking some more water.
“so, y/n, how old are you?” he says, finishing up his food.
“i turned 24 a few months ago.” y/n says.
“really? i turned 24 a few months ago as well.”
“i know that, you’re the star of france.” y/n says with a small smile on her face.
he smiles at her again.
y/n couldn’t take it.
‘this is awfully weird. why is he being so… nice. it was concerning.’ she thinks to herself.
silence takes over the room and the only sound being the fork hitting against the glass plate as kylian takes a bite of the pasta.
“kylian, why are you so mean to me?”
“y/n, i know i haven’t been the nicest to you…”
they say at the same time. they both laugh.
“you go first.” kylian offers to y/n.
“alright, i was asking. why are you so mean to me? did i do.. something.”
kylian sighs deeply, “no y/n, you did nothing wrong, but, a lot happened before that’s making me like that towards you. just know i don’t mean it.” he explain.
“well, what happened?”
“i’ll tell you later.” kylian says finishing the food.
y/n took the plate and glass cup, made her way to the sink and began washing the dishes.
y/n wondered, what was on his mind. what was he thinking about.
too deep in thought to not see her boss, kylian. staking right next to her, leaning on the countertop.
she finishes cleaning the plate and cup.
she turned to her left, her soul jumping out her chest.
“kylian! why are you always sneaking up on people.” y/n said, laughing off the remaining shock with a hand over her heart.
“sorry, sorry, i just like looking at you.” he laughs.
y/n laughs too.
“oh really?”
“OH? REALLY?” she says backtracking because it registered to y/n what he said.
“yes. you’re beautiful.” he says, stepping a teeny closer to the beautiful woman in front of him.
y/n blushes.
“the food was really good as well. i really wish you would’ve ate with me.” he says.
“i’m just your assistant. i don’t want to break any of your boundaries. i respect you.” y/n says.
“i respect you.” kylian replays it in his head.
he already had a slight crush on y/n, but, this was different.
he has a crush on y/n.
“wow, you’re making me feel like shit for treating you the way i did. i respect you, too. say, come over again tomorrow. if you make me something to eat again, i’ll tell you what happened.” he says with a smile on his face.
y/n remains silent. she was thinking.
‘is kylian mbappé flirting with me?’
there’s no way.
yes there is! look at the way he’s looking at you. he wants you!’ you weigh out to yourself.
kylian think it’s adorable. the way y/n constantly looks like a lost puppy.
he bends down a bit, leveling himself to y/n’s height to get her attention.
“everything alright in there?” kylian says.
y/n seems to still be in deep thought when kylian giggles.
he takes his index finger, placing it underneath y/n’s chin, lifting it up.
he looks her in the eye.
he wants to kiss her, her lips look so soft. he’s 100% sure if their lips were to simply graze across one another, he’d still love it. be addicted to it.
y/n looks back into his eyes, feeling her heart beat and her stomach start to flutter.
“deal or no deal?” kylian says as he tilts his head to the side.
y/n eyes drops to kylian’s lips. they were the perfect size and naturally protruded out.
she imagined how it’d feel. probably like a pillow, or, maybe a marshmallow.
y/n eyes make its way back to kylian’s.
she made up her mind.
“deal.” she says before gently removing his finger from her chin. she gathered her bags and made her way to the door, kylian following right behind.
she slipped on her sandals as kylian unlocked & opened the door.
y/n walks out, before turning to kylian who stood by the door.
“goodnight.”
“goodnight.”
they say together.
the two laugh.
“till next time then, goodnight mr. mbappé.” y/n says.
“it’s kylian and i’ll call you tomorrow. make sure you answer. goodnight, y/n.” he says, smiling.

i am confident in this at all.. i feel like it could be way better but i wanted to hurry and publish something to whoever’s waiting. i’ve been so busy and tired with school :,(. it was supposed to only have one part but i didn’t wanna rush the plot too much.
i tried something new with the whole “pov” thing. and, i hope it’s not too confusing because i switch from 2nd point of view to 3rd a lot.

CAMERA’s Israel office yesterday prompted correction of an English-language Agence France Presse article which erroneously reported that all of the Palestinian refugees from 1948 were forcibly displaced from their homes. In fact, the vast majority of the estimated 760,000 Palestinian Arabs who left in 1948 fled, often at the urging of their own leaders. They were not “forcibly displaced.”

The Feb. 4 article, “Arab Israelis let out of Gaza recount ‘terrifying’ journey,” had initially erroneously reported: “The majority of the Palestinian population, around 760,000 people, was forcibly displaced during the [1948] conflict, in what they call the Nakba or catastrophe” (11:10 am GMT). (As of this writing, the original, uncorrected text is still available at L’Orient Today).
Neither the French nor Arabic versions of the same AFP article contained the error.
AFP’s usual language on this point accurately reports “more than 760,000 Palestinians fled or were forced from their homes by the 1948 war over Israel’s creation.” (See, for instance, “Palestinian family in Lebanon grieves for dead Gaza relatives,” Nov. 27, 2023. Likewise, AFP’s Dec. 27, 2023 article, “Israel army chief says Gaza war to last ‘many more months,'” which cited “the 1948 war that accompanied Israel’s creation when 760,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled from their homes.” (Emphases added.)
Following CAMERA’s correspondence with AFP, editors commendably updated the article, changing the sentence to accurately state: “The majority of the Palestinian population, around 760,000 people, either fled or were forced from their homes during the conflict, in what they call the Nakba or catastrophe.”
The Guardian and Reuters Arabic have previously corrected the identical error after wrongly referring to all 1948 Palestinian refugees as expelled.

I had a name which was a little bit different from Bob Capa. The real name of mine was not too good. I was just as foolish as I am now, but younger. I couldn’t get any assignment. I needed a new name badly… And then I invented that Bob Capa was a famous American photographer who came over to Europe and did not want to bore French editors because they did not pay enough… So I just moved in with my little Leica, took some pictures and wrote Bob Capa on it which sold for double prices.

Regarded as the greatest war photographer ever, there are strangely no photos of Robert Capa the photographer before 1934. That’s because Robert Capa didn’t exist. It was an invention.
Expelled from Hungary at the age of 17, Endre Friedman bounced from Germany to France learning photography along the way. When he arrived, the man we know as Robert Capa was born. Possibly the greatest war photographer in history, Capa’s contributions are as broad as his interests.
The biography of Robert Capa is as captivating as his portfolio. After a short encounter with a communist leader in Hungary got him imprisoned, his new life on the road would be anything but ordinary. Fortunately for Capa, his mother was a seamstress for the head of police’s wife in Budapest. When she learned about her eldest son being arrested for “communist associations,” she was able to negotiate his release. This would be the first of many sticky situations that Capa danced through during his life. The terms of his release were that he had to leave Hungary and never return.
Understandably upset Capa went to Germany to complete his education until Hitler’s role forced him to move on. Finally settling in Paris, Capa met the love of his live Gerda Taro, who was working as a photo assistant - she would later tragically die in the Spanish Civil War. The combination of her creative marketing and Capa’s photographs soon solidified his role as a serious photographer. The two of them created the identity of Robert Capa. It had a good ring to it and Taro spread his images all over town, talking up his genius to the photography editors. Even after they were confronted for fraud, it was too late. The not so famous Endre Friedmann had successfully established himself as a prominent photographer of the Spanish Civil War.
He wanted to be a photographer, so he declared himself one. The rest is history.

Rockstyle - March 1998 - Interview with Paul
Ramstein, a German group, was in France on November 24 and 25 for only two dates in France. Rockstyle was there. For several reasons, first of all to follow this unavoidable phenomenon which, after two albums, has already sold more than two million records worldwide. Then their music, as well as the whole concept developed on disc, and on stage has a very strong meaning that has already seduced more than one editor. Ahh, the scene precisely, let's talk about it. Debauchery of sound, pyrotechnic effects, fire, flames, symbols, homo references, body worship... There was enough to ask a lot of questions, and enough to indulge in many digressions. By looking at this group, several elements put us, we believed, on the right direction. Indeed Rammstein, takes its name from a German city, Ramstein, a martyr city with a large Turkish population which was set on fire by some far-right group. Ah. Not only was it starting to get interesting, letting us go even more to our interpretations, just to make sense of it all, but it all had a smell of sulfur making the aura of the band even more mysterious. Our metaphysical wanderings (all these years of philosophy have to be for something, huh?) were going well: so, finally, Rammstein, it's just a group of bodybuilder neo-Nazi homos, as some press clippings suggested, or is there a simpler, rational, and less disturbing explanation? Meeting these people was going to be really important. Certain live photos, certain live images in addition to the concert reports and associated with what we already knew, namely the Manichean poetry and the lyricism of the texts, hinted at something else. On stage, wouldn't the fire be a tribute to the victims of the massacre? Would the group's answers to our questions quench our thirst for knowledge? Was fire for them a symbol of redemption? Was this simple religious Manichaeism between the angels and the demon hiding something more complex? What does this masochistic suffering represent for them? What about sex in all this?... So many questions to which we hoped to find the answer we were expecting, of course... But our hopes were far from being fulfilled, and our interview with Paul, one of the two guitarists, was going to reserve our batch of surprises.
Paul, you seem much more relaxed than yesterday, the concert tonight (Elysée-Montmarte) don't worry you too much for now?
Yes, everything is fine, and yet I only slept four hours... And I don't have stage fright. But I've been walking around Paris for four hours playing the tourist, maybe that's why I don't feel any pressure.
The romantic poetry of the texts gives us a clue to Rammstein's message?
Everyone must find their own answer. And when we translate these texts, we lose meaning and precision. 'Du hast' is a very good example, because there are two meanings to the phrase 'du hast mich', it means 'you own me', but also 'you hate me'. The whole song is based on this ambivalence of the verb 'haben' and its ambiguity. So when you translate this text it no longer makes sense, it no longer means anything. And generally in all our songs, we try to associate a necrophiliac, morbid side with another full of humor, fun...
The purpose of the texts is only that, to be funny, or is it hiding something else?
If what we are saying was funny, then yes, it would be funny, but we are not able to do that… I like texts that have an impact, that make people think. They even shock them. The effect is even greater with these comic effects, finally I think it would be more appropriate to speak of grating, very dark humor.
And where does the desire to make people think about these particular themes come from?
80% of the texts are composed by Till, the singer, and for the rest it is a group work, work which is largely inspired by the music... What is interesting is that everyone in the group listens to different things, one listens to blues, the other doesn't listen to music at all, one listens to pop, like Abba, the other industrial… We really have eclectic tastes. We just come together to make music, and we never worked to be a successful band, we have, that's good, great, but we never asked why it worked! We are all different and we complement each other, and our common goal is to make music together, that's all. We wanted to do that, we wanted there to be lots of pretty girls in the front row, and that's it! There are never pretty girls usually at metal concerts, maybe we wanted to fill this gap! Besides, it wouldn't make sense to do the same things as all these metal bands again, we're trying to move forward, to offer something else. The story is to try to stand out, it's for example to wear beige velvet pants when everyone is wearing blue jeans... There, it's you we're going to look at. Some will like it, some will hate it, but the important thing is that you got noticed. Besides, it's very easy to get hated! (Laughs)
In your videos, you develop a strong homage to films by Lynch or Tarantino, moreover you appear on the soundtrack of 'Lost Highway' with the title 'Rammstein', it's just a way to spread your passions, or you think this aesthetic is close to your vision of music?
As usual the record company didn't have a clear idea of the video we should do for 'Engel', so we decided to take a passage from the film with Tarantino, 'A Night in Hell' , and adapt it to our sauce. We had lots of ideas for special effects, morphing, and unfortunately not enough money so we made do with the means at hand. For the title 'Du hast' we chose to re-pump on 'Reservoir Dogs', and there the result turned out to be closer, 90%, let's say, to our original idea.
Between these videos and your show on stage, there are quite interesting parallels, and certain symbols keep coming back, Good, Evil, fire, explosions… All this gives a rather Biblical vision. When Till catches fire at the start of 'Rammstein', what does that mean? A rebirth?
Ah! I like it... But I don't really want to explain all these things... Too many people who aren't very smart don't understand what we're doing, and give us rather tendentious comments and desires, so... I think that to understand what we do you have to let go of your sensitivity and your intelligence… Let's say it's just provocation… The fact that Till uses pyrotechnic effects on stage is purely anecdotal. In fact he is very shy, and when he does not bite the guitarists he can even be rather diplomatic! Anyway, at first he mumbled in his corner, and since he doesn't play an instrument, he had trouble having an ease or a natural attitude when he wasn't singing, he even seemed rather stuck because he didn't didn't know what to do! So we had the idea of playing with fire. It is sure that at the beginning with just a lighter, the result was not terrible! (Laughs) Then we decided to develop all this visual aspect, with explosions, flamethrowers… Till has a diploma in fireworks, and he is the only one who knows and has the right to use all that. You really have to be careful because it's very dangerous, but with him, there's really nothing to worry about.
There seems to be a very Teutonic rigor in everything you do: the concerts are ruled like clockwork (sic), there is no dead time, everything seems to be written like a script of a movie. Do you still leave room for spontaneity and improvisation?
Yes, everything is straight, symmetrical, we like this rigor, but we are not the slaves of our machines, and everything is not done as for playback, we are organized, that's clear, but we let a certain room for freedom, even if, to be honest, we don't really like to let ourselves go to long stretches of improvisation on stage, we try sometimes, but we realize that it doesn't go with the music we make, quite simply...
Do you think Rammstein represents an evolution, or an emergence of a new metal?
We don't do metal. I don't really like metal, because I think it's a style that not only has never been able to renew itself, but also that is stuck in reverse. It's like a car, there are five gears, and if they used them, then they would see that it goes! Some are very good musicians, very good technicians, some even have the sound, have very good riffs. The problem is that they should only use one riff instead of seven, eight, because they play so fast that the music doesn't have time to settle. We, with a song of the genre we make seven! And it is much more efficient, like AC/DC, for example. It's more power pop than metal...

A mystery surrounds the death of a 19th century-Frenchman who unraveled a great mystery—the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
Jean-Francois Champollion died young after deciphering the Rosetta Stone, which unlocked the keys to the many enigmatic and beautiful hieroglyphic texts discovered in ruins, up and down the length of Egypt.
It gave modern people a much greater understanding of that great civilization.
Champollion was born on 23 December 1790 in France and died there on 4 March 1832, after visiting Egypt in 1829.
He had felt symptoms of malaise before departing for Egypt, according to a letter to the editor of the journal Clinical Neurophysiology by Dr. Hutan Ashrafian of the Department of Surgery and Cancer, Imperial College-London.
Jean-Francois Champollion is considered amongst the greatest linguists of all time; his decipherment of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and the Rosetta stone has led some to consider him the ‘‘Father of Egyptology.’’
His early death at the age of forty-one has typically been ascribed to fatigue and exhaustion from overwork on a year-long visit to Egypt.
This journey is reported as having initiated his progressive demise following the return to his native France, where he died from a reported stroke two years later.’ —H. Ashrafian
Dr. Ashrafian writes that the term “stroke” is used here in a generic sense rather than a formal medical diagnosis.
His family has refused to allow an autopsy but studying reports of Champollion’s condition has led the doctor to draw some conclusions about the death of the great scholar.
While in Egypt, Champollion did not suffer from lymph disease or fevers. But later in life, Champollion suffered from muscle weakness, limb paralysis, and ultimately, could not breathe.
He didn’t suffer from heart disease or lack of blood flow.
“Furthermore, at the moment of decipherment of hieroglyphs (1828), he is noted to have collapsed, though this may be viewed as a vasovagal [fainting] episode as a result of extreme emotional outpouring.
In his final weeks, he became emotionally labile consistent with progression of pseudobulbar dysfunction and eventually demonstrated a ‘locked-in’ syndrome before his death.”
Pseudobulbar dysfunction means he was unable to speak.
It may be considered ironic that a man who gave a ‘voice’ to the people of ancient Egypt and opened their world to modern scholars like never before was unable to articulate his own thoughts just before he died.
Given that he was not mentally impaired, did not have seizures but first suffered from weakness in his legs, and later was unable to speak, led Dr. Ashrafian to conclude Champollion had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis—or total paralysis of his muscles.
Exhausted by his labors during and after his scientific expedition to Egypt, Champollion died of an apoplectic attack (stroke) in Paris on 4 March 1832 at the age of 41.
His body was buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery. On his tomb is a simple obelisk erected by his wife and a stone slab stating simply:
Ici repose Jean-François Champollion, né à Figeac dept. du Lot le 23 décembre 1790, décédé à Paris le 4 mars 1832
(Here rests Jean-François Champollion, born at Figeac, Department of the Lot, on 23 December 1790, died at Paris on 4 March 1832).
Words of the Gods
The word hieroglyph means “sacred words” or “sacred signs.”
Clement of Alexandria was the first to use the word. Ancient Egyptians called their script mdju netjer or “words of the gods.”
The first known hieroglyphs date to around 3400 to 3200 BC, the pre-dynastic era.
The last known hieroglyphs were carved in stone around 394 AD.
The Rosetta Stone, found by Frenchmen in 1799 in a fort at the town of Rosetta during Napoleon’s occupation of Egypt, has hieroglyphs, Egyptian demotic, and ancient Greek translations of the same text.
Champollion, who had taught himself ancient languages, was able to decipher its meaning and unlock the entire script.
A full translation of the Rosetta Stone can be viewed at the British Museum, which acquired the document and other artifacts after Napoleon’s defeat.

‘Whereas King Ptolemy, living forever, the Manifest God whose excellence is fine, son of King Ptolemy [and Queen] Arsinoe, the Father-loving Gods, is wont to do many favours for the temples of Egypt and for all those who are subject to his kingship, he being a god, the son of a god and a goddess;
and being like Horus, son of Isis and Osiris, who protects his father Osiris, and his heart being beneficent concerning the gods, since he has given much money and much grain to the temples of Egypt, [he having undertaken great expenses] in order to create peace in Egypt and to establish the temples, and having rewarded all the forces that are subject to his rulership;
and of the revenues and taxes that were in force in Egypt he had reduced some or(?) had renounced them completely, in order to cause the army and all the other people to be prosperous in his time as [king].’
Ancient Egyptians carved hieroglyphs into clay seals, rock, pottery vessels, and bone and ivory.
The Rosetta Stone scripts are carved in basalt.

Light's Out!!
“Cinema”, the word itself is derived from the Greek word “kinema”, meaning movement, short for the French word cinematographer, coined by two brothers Auguste and Louis Lumiere. But in today’s time the word may beg to differ. It has different characteristics after all. In the 19th century the Lumiere brothers captured and demonstrated their first work in 1893 in Paris France which was a huge success, and after that, people from all around the world tried to capture and present their work and it was the start of what we call nowadays FILMMAKING. At this point we have numerous amounts of categories of filmmaking for e.g. (T.V, streaming series, AR-VR, movies).
The cinematic language can express as many emotions as human beings consist of. Can show sorrow/joy in the form of poetry, shows how a simple shot can impact a life of a human being so easily. People who are very much engaged in films are now termed as CINEPHILE. From shooting in analogue camera to Imax 4d, we’ve certainly come a long way and our audience has changed accordingly from time-to-time shaking hands with technology in a peaceful way. Well it is said that every single thing has its pros and cons , talking about the pros the films we watch today are more of clear vision and we can see many unreal things , thanks to computer graphics , but the cons are as sad as the pros are as good, film in today’s date has occupied a commercial base rather than just showcasing art , it has created a certain level for the coming audiences, that many people refuse to watch films made in the 70s,80s, which showed real things and gave a message in the end , but nowadays people refuse to watch real topic films, as they are more engaged towards things to do with computer graphics. People are also very much considering this as a profession and some of them are really in this field to showcase what they think film as an art. There are as many legends as possible in this field, but the missing point here is that this field is very massive, talking about (directors, actors, cinematographers, screenwriters, editors, etc.). some of the greatest directors to ever exist are, Satyajit Ray, Martin Scorsese, Akira Kurosawa, Stephen Spielberg etc. and talking about actors the list is never-ending, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, Leonardo Dicaprio, Tom Cruise, etc
There are many films which are good but there are less films which are great, and by great, I mean great in everything in everything, the direction, the script, the acting, and the reality of the film. For e.g. The godfather trilogy is considered as one of the greatest movies of all time, it is said that many film schools teaches that movie to the students pursuing filmmaking as their career and the first Indian movie which got the attention of the west was Pether Panchali by Satyajit Ray.
Even the Bollywood is progressing now, some newly directors are bringing back the actual reality in films, with real topics like Masan by Neeraj Ghayan is an actual depiction of what a real heartbreak a person can go through.
And the very recent blockbuster, biopic of J. ROBERT OPPENHEIMER. Well, it is a big hit in the country, not because of the story but because of the director which is said to be Christopher Nolan. It is becoming a matter of great pride that most of our audiences are getting to know great films.
Now we can say we have come a long way.

Background Info:
- Danielle has brought her son to at least two of Gong Jun’s offline events in the last half year (Hogan 22-11-07 and the Tiffany event last month) where she had him to call Gong Jun dad. There is footage of this, I will not be linking it. Online, she has made posts referring to herself as “Mrs. Gong” and acting as if Gong Jun is her child’s father. A reminder that some of the smears against Gong Jun in spring 2022 included claims of him having secret children; Danielle acting like this could very easily be used as fodder for more similar slander.
- Last week, she booked a first class ticket on the same flight to South Korea as Gong Jun, resulting in him moving to an economy seat to get away from her. She also booked a room in the same hotel. His staff does not seem to have done anything about her behaviour.
- Due to the fact that her money and obsessive behaviour has allowed her to get a number of close photos and videos of Gong Jun, quite a bit of her content has been passed around fan circles. [screenshots from one recent video that was heavily circulated] Please try to be conscious of whose content you’re spreading; the fact that Gong Jun is a public figure does not mean he doesn’t deserve privacy.

→ One of Gong Jun’s lawsuits against an anti (see 03-17) came to a conclusion, settling with a handwritten letter of apology posted to her Weibo, removal of all slanderous content, and a fine of 30k RMB. The entire lawsuit took nine months.
Fan Observations: Despite the anti trying to get out of the fine by claiming financial difficulties, she recently went overseas for surfing lessons and bought a new luxury car.

→ The Deep Blue* Weibo Supertopic disappeared, with whalers moving to another supertopic that was created in Feburary which does not have active moderation, leading to slanderous posts being made in it by Zhang Zhehan antis. Before disappearing, the Supertopic had largely been filled with people trying to resell “concert” tickets and encouraging others to fake information for travel visas.

For once, the rumours have proved true. Annie Ernaux, the 82-year-old French writer, who for the last couple of years has been touted as a favourite, has been announced as the winner of the 2022 Nobel prize for literature – only the 17th woman out 119 laureates in the award’s history.
The Swedish Academy is famous for its secrecy and its often apparently obscure choices. The October announcement frequently has journalists and editors frantically Googling that year’s recipient – and perhaps a decade ago, Annie Ernaux might have received the same treatment. But, while her work has been well known and well received in France since the 1970s, and published in English translation from 1991, it is only since around 2019, when The Years, her monumental work of fiction-memoir was shortlisted for the International Booker prize, that Ernaux has made a big impact on the anglophone world.
The Years covers six decades of social and personal history, from Ernaux’s working-class childhood in wartime and postwar Normandy – where she was born in 1940 – through the 1968 student uprisings, initial joy and later disillusionment during the long presidency of François Mitterand in the 1980s and 90s and on into the new millennium. It spans politics, literature, music, television, education, marriage, divorce, advertisements, popular slogans – all recounted through a narrator who never once uses the word “I’.
The book, which ends in 2006, was celebrated in France as a modern In Search of Lost Time. In terms of prose style, however, Ernaux has little in common with the more flamboyant Proust – her writing is more austere, the sensuality more analytical. Her work as a whole is reflective, intimate – but also impersonal and detached. The Nobel committee described her oeuvre on Thursday as “uncompromising and written in plain language, scraped clean.”
Nowhere is uncompromising style more apparent than in Ernaux’s account of the illegal abortion she had in 1963 as a student in Rouen. This episode of her life, which first appeared as the short, sharp book Happening in France in 1999, was crafted – like much of Ernaux’s work – from the diaries she kept at the time. Her family was solidly religious, and Ernaux was the first to attend university. Matter-of-factly she states: “Sex had caught up with me, and I saw the thing growing inside me as stigma of social failure.”
The sense of shame, of the intransigent hierarchy of society, abounds in her brilliant scrutiny of her father’s life, A Man’s Place, first published in 1983. Ernaux’s father died two months after she passed her teaching exams. (She would go on to teach in schools and university, from 1977-2000, alongside writing books.) A Man’s Place is very much part of what Ernaux calls the “lived dimension of history” – it is dispassionate about the life of a working-class man of his time, a struggling grocer with minimal education: “no lyrical reminiscences, no triumphant displays of irony,” she warns us. Similarly, her brief, electric, I Remain in Darkness, about her mother’s dementia and subsequent death, with Ernaux by now divorced and middle-aged, is – while neutrally and starkly written – saturated throughout with a daughter’s grief.
Passion and grief often exist side by side. Ernaux’s twin books Simple Passion – the story of her affair with a younger, married Soviet attaché in Paris in the months before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and her most recently published English translation, Getting Lost, the diary of that affair, are incendiary works which remind us how close we are in life to death – whether it be morally, physically, existentially. Margaret Drabble has commented that “Ernaux has inherited de Beauvoir’s role of chronicler to a generation” – now the great chronicler been justly rewarded with the greatest of literature prizes.
