#tbt :: Lagoon, 2010, acrylic on canvas, 70” x 130” (private collection). • • • • • • • This is the large commissioned painting that I made for a long-time collector back in 2010. I wanted to bring a bit of nature to the client’s interior and the long format made me think of Monet’s large waterlily painting that’s in MoMA’s collection, so I used that as a starting point. My first full day in the new studio yesterday was spent opening boxes, figuring out storage and finding my studio shorts before anything else. Priorities 😉 • • • • • • It might not look like it, but lots of progress was made. Standing in the middle of all of this, I can’t imagine how I managed to fit all of it into my old apartment space, but somehow I did it-necessity being the mother of invention and so forth. Before I left, I was determined to get my lights up in the entryway, a holdover tradition from the old space where I kept string lights up all year long in the hallway. In anticipation of a project I'll be doing with the Rosenbach Museum & Library next year, I was invited to be a reader on Bloomsday--the day during which James Joyce's Ulysses takes place.
