Plant of the Day
Friday 5 April 2024
In spring the new foliage of shrubs has so much to offer. The yellow leaves of Philadelphus coronarius 'Aureus' (mock orange) lights up the woodland garden as much as any flowers. It is necessary to prune out any darker foliage shoots (reversion) that appear or they will take over.

Plant of the Day
Wednesday 9 August 2023
The pure white, scented flowers of Philadelphus satsumi (mock orange blossom) make a great addition to a shrub border. Older shoots have dark greyish brown bark and the leaves are opposite each other on the stem. The plant originated in Japan and was introduced to cultivation in Europe in 1851.
