Miyuu's doing PGSM viewing party for act 13 & 14 tonight (Jan 29 2am PST)!
Once again, would encourage PGSM fans come to support her! The more support she gets, the more likely she’ll continue the live streams of to cover the whole series! I imagine this may also be an emotionally challenging live stream she'd be doing, since these episodes heavily features Kubodera Akira. So the more love we can shower Miyuu during the stream, the better!
Reminder: This is how the viewing party typically happens in this format:
It typically takes 30 minutes into the viewing party for the actual episode watching to start.  Miyuu takes the first 30 minutes to recognize everyone who comments on the live chat to say hi to EVERYONE while she snacks/eats dinner. (Her love for sweets is very much Usagi-like! lol)
You need to prepare your own copy of the episodes and click play alongside Miyuu.
Miyuu will count folks down on when to click start on watching each episode.
Miyuu will have her headphones when watching the episode, and you can see and listen to her live comments and reactions without pause (unless her cat Roku interrupts lol).
Because of this, you can even watch the episodes ahead and write down any comments or questions you want to share in Japanese (with help of translation tools as needed) ahead of time, and just post into the live chat for Miyuu when the time comes! :)
Miyuu reads English and she literally reads through all the messages on chat. If it's a simple answer, she will also respond in English to an English message. She even says hi to you even if you joined in the middle of the live stream!  She’s very sweet, hilarious, and awesome!

Answering some unasked Sera Myu questions
…I know, no one actually tagged me or asked to do this meme, but @sailorzakuro invited anyone who wants to take part in this challenge and I’m very eager to, so let’s start!
1) You are a Myu fan since…? Short answer: since 2012, aged 13. Long answer (beware, when I say long, I mean very long): you can find a fully detailed axplanation of how I got into Myu somewhere in this post, in the second reblog https://usaghinanami99.tumblr.com/post/170867407508/myucornerorg-usaghinanami99-myucornerorg
2) The first musical you saw? I always watch and read things in strict chronological order, so that was Gaiden. I think you can see how I went on.
3) Your favourite musical? OMG Eien Densetsu Kaiteban is the best musical ever, it’s got such a great soundtrack and the Senshuraku recording is especially touching!
4) Your favourite Sailor Moon actress? QUEEN ANZA FOR LIFE!!!!111!!1
5) Say one positive thing about every Moon actress. Anza: OMG QUEEN I mean: best singer, best actress, best everything… Should I really go on? Fumina: A nice singer and perfectly in-character for a post-manga Usaghi, very calm and compassed compared to others. Miyuki: If there is a queen in Myu (see before), then Miyuki is the princess, she’s so good at everything she does and I love her dearly… and of course I miss her so much! ;( She’s just so skilled that I think of her as a performer who would definitely deserve to be #1, if only there weren’t someone who is even better… this is without diminishing Miyuki’s ability at all! Plus, she’s the one who made me undestand that nasal voices aren’t necessarily terrible, quite the contrary with her case. Marina: WOW like was she really 12 when she started? I could think of many ways to praise her singing, but the most important thing I think about Marina is just “too good for her age” XD Satomi: I respect her very much because I think she’s the one Myu actress who improved awesomely during the course of time. I mean, I have to admit I’m not a fan of her singing and acting from LR through UNV, but when she returned in LMF she literally blew me away and I couldn’t believe she was the same person considering how much she improved. Hotaru: I can really see how she put her whole heart into her performance and that she loved it to death. I find her very relatable because she’s so fangirly she low-key reminds me of myself!
6) Is Sera Myu your favourite version of Sailor Moon? Er… actually, not at all ‘XD While I am absolutely convinced that the manga is the best version of the franchise and the first anime is the worst one, I’m much more torn apart among the other version… It is very hard for me to do a ranking, because I just can’t decide which I love more amongst Crystal, PGSM and Myu!
7) Who is your favourite cast member? ANZAANZAANZAANZAANZAANZAAAA…
8) Are your first favourites your actual favourites? Oh, yes! Anza, Ayako and Yuta have always been my Top 3 and will forever be. I have changed my mind over many actors, in the sense that I’ve come to like many whom I really didn’t care about at first view, but my best favourites will always stay the same
9) If you could say one sentence to your Myu favourite, what do you want to say to him/her? Nothing in particular, really. I’d rather have her sing Usaghi’s lines from Tabidachi for me to enjoy and worship!
10) Which Sailor Moon story do you want on stage? The manga stories which didn’t make it to the stage so far! I get that the short stories would be almost impossible to adapt, but between the Shining Princess’ Lover and the whole of Sailor V there is enough material to go on for at least three years! After that, they could start with some original material… maybe some story set during the Silver Millennium era?
11) Tell me your Top 3 underrated actors. 1: Tomoko Inami 2: Akiko Miyazawa 3: Miki Kawasaki
12) Give 3 actors new roles. Er… Does Anza as Cosmos count? Because, apart from that, I can’t really think of anything else: it’s because the actors I like have always been cast perfectly spot-on, while the ones I don’t… I’d rather have them have no parts at all XD
13) Combine classic and revival Myu: what does it look like? YES YES YES this is actually my greatest fantasy, I would kill to have a musical which combined the strong plotting and characterization of New Myu with the awesome soundtrack and casting of Old Myu
14) Revival Myu song you want in classic myu? Er… None? I’d rather have the exact opposite XD I mean, there are New Myu songs I do like, but they couldn’t ever even dream to compare to the work of goddess Akiko Kosaka.
15) Tell me an unpopular opinion you have about Myu. (Lightly whispering): I actually dislike Yuka Asami both in terms of singing and acting… I have tried to make myself like her to no avail. Now please don’t kill me! Apart from that, there are also some typical fan-favourites like Nao, Yuka and Chieko whom I love but are just number 2 for me because I think there’s someone even better than them… does this count as unpopular?
16) Ai no Starshine or Music of the Spheres? We hear the music of the spheeeeres… Speaking of New Myu songs I enjoy, this is definitely one of the best for me!
17) The Last Change or its XXI Century version? …Can I answer “both”? Lol, this is still another case of two things that are both so good it’s difficult to choose between them… I love both arrangements, Miyuki is QUEEN in both (yes, Marina is also good, but nowhere near her level IMO) and I am both into slow songs and upbeat ones. Actually, this reminds me very much of the issue I’ve got with Dolce Melodia (a song from the Italian dub of Mermaid Melody which you have to listen to NOW), where, after 11 long years, I still can’t understand if I prefer the original upbeat version or the more emotional carillon arrangement… But, while I am a sucker for both genres, slow love songs are definitely my cup of tea - in fact, my best favourite song in the whole freaking world is the main ballad theme from Beauty and the Beast. And while The Last Change is no love song, the original version has go tthis kind of feel to me, so that’s the one I’ll peek… but that’s been a very hard choice! XD
18) Cho Bi Uranus to Neptune or Harsh Saint Cry? Oh, this is much easier? While I do like both very much, the thing is that First Stage >>> everything else IMO ‘XD So it must be Cho Bi.
19) Is that something about Myu that annoys you? THE FREAKING UNRELEASED MATERIAL       I freaking want to have tapes of the four unreleased musicals so much that I’d die for them! Not to mention the reunion concert that Anza & Akiko made in 2015… Also yes, the speaking over the fankans. That’s pretty common, but there’s a reason if everyone is deeply pissed off by it. And the fact that some of the performances were only shown in snippets
20) What do you expect from the 2019 musical? A lot of things, lol. Actually this is getting pretty long, so if you’re really dying to read my opinion about this (I doubt it’s the case, but still), I’ve already made a complete list of my hopes on the purpose which you can find following the link up there.
21)  How important are dancing abilities of the actors for you? …I actually don’t even pay attention to them, and even if I did, I’m far too uncompetent for it to matter much for me. Sorry for the horrible answer ‘XD
22) Which Myu merchandise do you want? FREAKING VIDEOTAPES OF THE UNRELEASED MATERIAL Also official soundtracks for the New Myu and a more complete collection of the instrumental versions of all Myu songs
23) Are you sad that Luna and Artemis disappeared after Gaiden? You can bet on it! I’m also bitter for this because I was sure they would include them when La Reconquista was announced XD
24) An interesting (non-existing) HaruMichi couple? San’ae x Tomoko is my dream, what with them being the best Uranus and best Neptune for me? As for actually existing ones, my favourite is Shu x Sayaka.
25) Your favourite Moon x Tux couple? Anza x Yuta for eveeeer And I’ve also got this forbidden dream of seeing some Miyuki x Yu, I think they would be perfect together for some reason… sadly that’s not possible :(
26) Your favourite musical-only character? Kyaosu. You can beat me now. Also Space Knight, I wonder how it is possible that it didn’t come to my mind first. And yes, I have that sense of humour.
27) Which character would you play in a musical? …No one. I’m definitely not qualified enough to even dream of something like that XD But if I had to choose, than it would surely be my queen Usaghi
28) Something else you want to say about Sera Myu? Sera Myu is awesome, okay? I love it so much and it’s such an important part of my life and it gives me happiness when I’m feeling down and all those things… I sould probably stop now!
Now that this challenge is officially over for me, I tag @myucornerorg into doing it! :)

blackmantagirl mentioned you in a post “@serpentinred LOL! Same here. Most of the time, I follow new people...”
@ serpentinred LOL! Same here. Most…
@blackmantagirl Well, then, that’s good. At least we can gang up on anyone who dares to call us anything but young and beautiful. ;)
No, it wasn’t Jump! *goes to search on the Internet for the comic book name* It MIGHT have been Nakayoshi. I don’t quite remember it, to be honest, although I’m certain that it was translated version of it (I think they imported it from Hong Kong at that time, since I got it in Chinatown, Manhattan). I'm checking it up, and it still might be Nakayoshi, since I think I saw Cardcaptor Sakura being published in the same book. I didn’t read it but remember my second older sister liking one of the other mangas being published in there, and I THINK it was Cardcaptor. I think there was also a manga of a female Robin Hood-ish in there as well. Anyhow ... too many years ago. LOL!
I haven’t rewatched Super/Stars as much as Classics/R/S, so I’m not really certain about Chibs’ birthday.
Also, after Luna-P went over to the dark side and turned into that drill-umbrella. Like, sure, some people might argue that it’s because of the black crystal, but I really don’t think so. Chibs was exposed to that crystal, not Luna-P. Luna-P just changed itself to be with Chibs. Knowing kids, when they are bullied to the extent that the franchise wanted us to believe Chibs was, they’re going to retaliate pretty harshly without thinking of the consequences unless it was in retrospect. Heck, I know of a child who drew blood (by scratching) who only knew remorse after they were confronted by someone they liked, not when they’d first done it. Well, actually, it was only that case - the kid scratched more than one person already, so ...
Kids (well, humans in general, to be honest) can be very cruel in the right (or is it wrong?) situations.
Anyhow, Chibs in the 90′s anime gave me no indication that she would hold back in dishing out pain towards the people that bullied her that much, tbh.
ROTFLMAO! Exactly! I recall thinking “How the hell didn’t they know she was the Queen’s child when she has the freaking moon symbol on her forehead whenever she had the temper tantrum?” But I tend to ignore plot holes when the rest of the story is entertaining, so I was willing to let it slide. Didn’t stop me from disliking Chibs though. XDDD
Now you’re making me imagine the Senshi running all over CT trying to pacify the worried citizens - “No, we’re not under attack ... No, it’s just the Princess getting hungry ... NO, SHE HADN’T BEEN POSSESSED BY A YOUMA."
In retrospect, no wonder nobody knew that the Black Moon clan was going to attack CT in the 30th century. Any signs were brushed under “another Princess anomaly” until it was too late. XDDD
Well, ignoring SenShi (or in general, Shitennou) fan theories of the Shitennou being brought back to life to have extra guards for Mamoru, they had at least 4 Sailor Senshi protecting the Queen and the King. So ... um ... shouldn’t at least one of them be, like, protecting the Princess, too? I mean, she is the next in line to the throne. Sure, CT is supposed to be a utopia, but, erm ... did you forget that you happened to banish people to Nemesis? And besides, if it WERE a complete utopia, there shouldn’t be any needs of guards for the Queen and King. So, why weren’t the Senshi helping Chibiusa control her powers anyway?
Maybe they were going for “Chibs had the power because she absorbed the Silver Crystal”, yeah, no, not buying it because how did the Black Moon clan knew that it was Chibs shining the beacon?
Yeah, Manga!Chibs had more basis for being insecure, and it made sense for her to question if she were the Queen’s kid because if Sailor Moon was so powerful, and Neo-queen Serenity could wield the Silver Crystal, what was she, Chibs, doing? Why didn’t she have any powers?
Agreed with what you said about the difference between two different Black Lady.
Well, I think 90′s Usagi also gets distracted rather easily. She’ll set herself for a goal to do better and then the next second she’s like “Oh, video games! Manga!” whereas Manga!Usagi doesn’t bother setting a goal for schoolwork. At least, I don’t remember her doing this in the manga.
Like I’ve said, binge watching Crystal these couple of days, I can say with confidence that you can see that Usagi pretty much matured from Season 1 to Season 3.
Anyhow, I agree that there’s a way to keep immaturity and maturity at a balance, which wasn’t accomplished in Classics, unfortunately.
Agreed about the running around bit in Season 3. Well, to be honest, it’s a bit jarring to go from the elegant and graceful artwork of S1 and S2 and then to S3. Not that S3 isn’t pretty, but imho, it lacks the elegance of S1 and S2. So when the running around bit came around, I guess I was already a bit ... numb? Anyhow ...
Yeah, I know a lot of people didn’t like it because it felt too convenient with everyone pairing off. I didn’t mind it much because it gave me plenty of things to play with. LOL! I’m that strange kid in the back of the room that has to make pairs with everything (not humans of course, but with things, yeah ...).
No, I get what you mean about some of the personality. I think Jadeite’s boyish laid-back attitude came from PGSM where they had a scene in which Jadeite was jumping around in the back. But I never really got that feel from Jadeite. To me, he was serious, rash at some points. He was probably a bit more relaxed when he was with his Shitennou brothers and Endymion (and with Rei, if we’re going with SenShi fanfics). Sure, he might troll people every once in a while because being with the rest of the Shitennou has to rub off on him after a while. So basically, I see him more as an even more serious, more rash, and more sarcastic version of Ami.
Oh, Nephrite is definitely the Casanova type with a love for being over-dramatic in everything he does. Seriously, you’re from the Dark Kingdom and the leader of youma, what are you doing riding around town in a freaking red sports car and having a mansion in the middle of some spooky forest? Are you seriously trying to tell me that you can’t look at stars elsewhere? LOL!
Zoisite is a whole other can of worms, imho. I don’t get when people make him introverted. To me, he’s the refined version of Nephrite? Like ... he’s dramatic but more in the peacock way while Nephrite is more the Lion King way, I guess. LOL!
No, I get what you mean. Though I admit that I’m a fangirl of the traditional pairings, I do see why mixing things up will be fun. :)
I still think that it’s because they were trying to stuff everything into 13 Acts. I agree with what you said about the reveal. Like perhaps let the Senshi somewhat feel something after they’d defeated the Shitennou? Like even if they’d wanted something stupid dramatic like having Metallia blast the Shitennou, they could’ve done something along the lines of:
[Mercury freezes Zoisite, harming him significantly. However, before she could proceed to permanently dust him, a voice resounded in her ears, that sounded suspiciously like Zoisite, but with a lot less malice and with more friendliness, and even endearment, if the production team wanted it to go that way.
That pause proved to enough time for Zoisite to break free of his confines and escape back to the Dark Kingdom.]
Something similar for the rest of the girls and then the girls discuss this with Venus, who then reveal that yes, they had relationships before, but she didn’t want to tell them in case it got in the way. So the girls know that the Shitennou were good people before getting brainwashed. Then the Metallia scene and they mourn that good people were killed, rather than for relationships that could never be.
Well, it broke my running record of shipping pairings that are never canon, so there’s that. My friend joked to me that it must be some kind of phenomenon that I actually liked a pairing that became canon. LOL!
(Oh, the musicals are great. I still need to go through all of them, but nearly every one I’d watched was immensely entertaining.)
ROTFLMAO! Oh no. Now you’re going to create a monster. As if this reply isn’t already long enough without me complaining about the break-up arc. ;)
Anyhow, let’s see ...
For one thing, Mamoru was stupid in there.
There is absolutely no other way around it or to say it kindly. Like yeah, a voice that you don’t know (or is vaguely familiar with) tells you that if you don’t break up with Usagi, she’s going to die.
Let’s look at the statistics here, shall we? Starting from the Silver Millennium, it was YOU, Mamoru Chiba, who’d died first. Okay, fine, 90′s anime, you died together, but still only evens the score to Mamoru: 1, Usagi: 1. Then we go to the Dark Kingdom era where you got yourself fatally injured which then got you brainwashed. Mamoru: 2, Usagi: 1. During Alan and Ann’s period, you forget about Usagi, while she had a full set of powers, and you had to become schizophrenic to save her. Remind me if I’m wrong, but you could’ve easily died near the Doom Tree if Ann wasn’t fond of you. So, I’ll be nice Mamoru: 2 1/2, Usagi: 1.
Hell, with those statistics, I don’t know, maybe YOU’RE the one who should be worried about dying, instead of worrying about Usagi dying? It’s pretty much established that though she’s klutzy at times, she’s not the damsel in distress here. More often than not, it’s YOU, Mamoru Chiba, who’s the damsel in distress.
Let’s move on the the scenes - not the artwork, of course. Some of the angsty parts were well-drawn. Seriously, I love a regency romance as much Ami-chan, and I’m guilty of shipping crack pairing that are very controversial and in which there’s nothing redeemable about one of the parties in said pairing.
However with Sailor Moon, you want me to believe that she’s the strongest warrior alive and then you made her become Twilight!Bella. Sure, Bella came after her, but still. What’s up with Usagi nearly wanting her life to end because Mamoru dumped her?
Seriously, I don’t need my female heroines to super heroes. I belong to the HP fandom, and while I do believe Hermione is strong, I click on the X button out of the fic whenever someone makes her stronger than Voldemort, shit rainbows, and barges into Death Eater meetings in order to ruin their plans. However, with Usagi in the break-up arc ...
Seriously, I know that she’s heartbroken, so of course, she’s under depression. My problem is that she doesn’t walk OUT of it before she knows she has a chance with Mamoru again. Without even knowing why he was breaking up with her in the first place.
I know that there are women out there who becomes completely AWOL when they go through heartbreak, but imho, this is not a good message to send out to young girls. It’s the same old trope of “If you hang on long enough, you’ll have him back again” and “If he broke up with you, there must be something wrong, not because he’s out of love with you. Just wait for him to come around and he’ll love you again because it’s TRUUUU WUV!!!”
While it’s not explicitly said like that, the subliminal messages being sent out with that arc makes me frown.
As a disclaimer, I have to say that I adore the Usagi/Mamoru relationship in manga (and of course, now, in Crystal as well), but in Classics, I really, really wanted Usagi to just dump him. Seriously. I wanted her to go out with someone else because he was such a douche to her. Sure, we knew he did it for a reason, but Usagi doesn’t know this. Without the context, I really wanted to be Makoto so I can beat the crap out of Mamoru.
Tanya already made wonderful posts as to why the Senshi were horrible friends in other posts, so I won’t repeat it here. I’ll just say I completely agree with her points.
During that break-up arc, it made me wonder why the Senshi were friends with Usagi anyway. Actually, it would probably be more accurate to say: Why was Usagi friends with them anyway? I would’ve stayed away from them if they kept telling me “It’s because of ______, that’s why Mamoru doesn’t want you anymore.” Hell, if I were one of the Senshi, I would’ve either told her to get over it, gave her a makeover, go party, and hook up with some new guys or grab a bunch of ice cream, find some movies, and cry over those tubs of ice cream with her, whichever way she wanted. It’s shitty of them to put her down when she’s going through break-up.
Hell, it would’ve made more sense for BERYL to be doing that to Usagi, but not the girls. Or maybe they’d gotten possessed by Beryl after that final showdown between Metallia!Beryl and Usagi. After all, we only knew that Beryl got enveloped by the pink light. Maybe some residue of Beryl got incorporated into the girls. :P
And I mentioned it before, but I’ll mention it again, I really, really hated when Usagi was all Twilight: New Moon!Bella-ish in the break-up arc. I mean, sure, I know they’d wanted it as a way for Usagi and Mamoru to make up, but ugh. UGGGGGGH. I’m pretty certain the break-up arc was also responsible for me rearranging my list of fave Senshi, but anyhow ...
Okay, don’t know if I’d missed anything, but if I did, I’ll probably come back and mention it, but ... yeah ... those are some of the reasons why I hated the break up arc.
Oh, I’ve been interested in villains ever since who-knows-when, although the interest itself didn’t make itself clear until I was a bit older. But yeah, I don’t really like the cardboard cutouts of villains and antagonists either. Also, I prefer them to be intelligent. Give me villains with the minds of Albert Einstein and the elegance of royalty. XDD Of course, I wouldn’t say no if they were also pretty boys, but that’s just the additional plus points at the bottom at the resume that might or might not be reviewed.
It’s really no wonder why Zoisite is my favorite Shitennou, really, regardless of whether he’s paired with Kunzite, Mercury, or whatever. He’s just so evilly delightful. (Yeah, I also see him as being a major troll with a vengeful attitude even if he returns to Mamoru’s side.)
PGSM did well with the character development, much better than most, if not all, of the different versions. This reminds me that I should go back and rewatch PGSM one of these days.
ROTFLMAO! I don’t know why, but I giggled when I read this part: “Anime wise, I didn’t get why they just didn’t take their ships and go to a different star system that has habitable planets using time travel. Or going to a distant future. Like..guys.. for real.”
Yes, I totally agree with your assessment of the Black Moon clan, but yeah, I liked the Dead Moon Circus more than the Black Moon clan. I recall Nehellenia having different backgrounds in the anime and the manga, but nonetheless, both of them were interesting and intriguing.
LOL! Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of redemption either. I mean, if you do it every once in a while, it’s fine. But except for the Big Bads, you get nearly every mini-boss having some sob story about why they’d turned bad and that just gets annoying.
ROTFLMAO! Same here. Well, it’s not just the Sailor Moon fandom having that problem, unfortunately. So I find myself disconnecting from a lot of general fandom and just hanging around with people with similar tastes. Though I suppose that might get me attacked as well. LOL!

Do u think Mamo and Usa's relationship in the 90's anime is unhealthy? Its like that 90's anime abridged post you once made they couldn't stand each other for 30+ episodes then in the span of an episode after finding out about their past lives they're suddenly in "tru wuv?" Not only that but they don't even get a chance to explore those feelings cause Mamo is then brainwashed, loses his memories and THEN breaks up with Usa due to dreams for the next 20 episodes so they were together 1 episode.
Compared to the manga, crystal, and most def PGSM,it can be considered as unhealthy thanks to the writers.
I don’t know how many times I and others talked about this but let’s condense this. .
1.The fact the majority of the first season they were constantly bickering and them not turning from enemies to friends before the truth came out. It’s kind of felt like  whiplash cause they go from throwing insults at each other to being in love with each other with little to no middle ground in between. ( Yes You have the painting episode but they still were throwing insults at each other. )
2. The break -up arc which consist of lying, mixed signals, and acting like a pure ass towards her..
3. THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION!!
4. The fact he become a perfect boyfriend cut out which every girl wants after season two because character development don’t exist for him.( Although did one time talk about her weight.)
5. The fact she slap him in the face forgetting her birthday which she never told him.
6. The fact she doesn’t even trust him to just say “ Hi” to a girl passing the street.
7. Her constantly feeling like she’s not good enough for him and people telling her that she have to do better for him. ( cough rei and chibiusa)
8.  The fact he felt embarrassed to be around her with her childish antics and bickering with Chibiusa in public.
9. Her never addressing that she’s jealous of Chibiusa which was never resolved. ( cough like it was in crystal/manga)
10. When in SuperS movie she asked him did he love Chibiusa more than her and instead of ensuring her that he love her both,he reflected. ( Unlike in the manga and crystal when she brought it up in black moon are ensure her that  it wasn’t the case)
11. The imbalance of power never being resolved.
12. The fact she honestly felt that he forgot about her when he supposed to went to harvard.
13. THE FACT THAT AFTER 200 EPISODES SHE HAVE TO ASK HIM DO HE LOVE HER!
I’m not going to include this one in the list because it only peeves me but the episode where they was at that dinner party with the older guy who knew Mamo and Har/Mic  (aka theory of pudding episode) He could have just easy translated for her just for that night cause he knew that english wasn’t her strong point. Instead of her struggling with the english and drinking wine instead of juice yet again to calm her nerves. It just felt like he threw her to the wolves since it was a guy who he respected and couple of his college mates there. It’s goes to her feeling like she have to prove that she can be mature in front of him and his peers.

Okay. Yeah, Miyuu teared up seeing Kubodera Akira as Shin / Kunzite on screen. :(
Guys I think she's about to cry.
She's powering through though.

So restarting from where I left off last time, the first thing I get to see is an unused scene from Act 13... which personally really caught me off guard!
I haven't liveblogged rewatching PGSM since May, and my most recent liveblog was joining Miyuu's viewing party. And all I can think of is seeing Miyuu tearing up when Act 13 preview showed up at the end of watching Act 12 and she teared up, likely remembering Kubodera Akira. :'(
Jumping back into this from where I left off last time, the first thing I get to see is an unused scene from Act 13, which personally really caught me off guard. I haven't liveblogged rewatching PGSM since May, and my most recent liveblog session was joining Miyuu's viewing party. Seeing this, all I can think of is seeing Miyuu tearing up when Act 13 preview showed up at the end of watching Act 12 and she teared up, likely from remembering Kubodera Akira. :'(
Anyway, as I often do, I have many thoughts on unused scenes and the value they could've brought to the episode if left in or not.
For this scene, I'm actually supportive of it being removed! To have left it in would have been overkill on giving the same information we audience would have realized between watching the shopping scene and seaside scene between Usagi and Mamoru:
Reminding the audience Usagi's kindness and selflessness even with a random stranger.
Showing the audience Mamoru being moved by Usagi's action, and his inner turmoil on seeing Usagi's reaction could also apply to how Usagi may view him if she knew he also has some form of amnesia and he is Tuxedo Kamen.
And in fact, I think by having this scene being removed, it was a lot more entertaining for us to jump to the shopping scene where Usagi demands Mamoru to stop following her. lol Because it makes it less expected for us to see Mamoru and Usagi remain sticking together, even after leaving the mansion. lol
The one funny thing to note though is I find it hilarious how quick Usagi was to show kindness and consideration to a stranger (Shin) in this scene, yet shows such unfiltered contempt for Mamoru. The guy simply came out the door behind her, and she immediately turns around and asks "what's your problem?" This reminds me of the childish crush troupe that always gets used as an explanation for immature characters - y'know, the "oh the boy's pulling your hair/pulling pranks on you because they like you" deal when writing young children. However, in this case it seems like Usagi's the one doing the "hairpulling" so to speak, but lashing out verbally without realizing why she's so drawn to Mamoru. lol

I’m speculating... but Miyuu just teared up watching the Act 13 promo at the end of Act 12.  A few tears slipped, I think it’s because of Kubodera Akira .... :’(
Or... it can just be her allergies because of her sneezes.  She didn’t address it but also of course it’s not something anyone should ask if it’s because of Akira.

Hi everyone! Merry Christmas!
As promised, I'll be liveblogging rewatching PGSM today! I'll start from where I left off in the DVD Special Oshiokiyo Act 13-16, and continue to where I can in Act 17 before hitting any posts limits.
I anticipate doing this the whole day, so will need to leave the computer in the midst for lunch. lol

JFC Mamoru tsundere level is off the charts here!  Usagi’s so shocked when he gave her a warning to not be depressed because he’s concerned FOR her is just kinda painful to watch. She was so caught off guard.
Also, Mamoru’s really risking saying too much about his personal background/condition here. Either he decided to say it because he believe Usagi’s too slow to realize he’s speaking from personal experience, or he’s already at a point where he knows he can trust Usagi/is already seeing her as a sort of confidant given their interaction as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen.  Still, it was risky.
God we have to wait for another 19 episodes before things get better. THIS IS ROUGH.
The seaside’s definitely UsaMamo’s place for their love story; there’s just so many significant scenes of them being at the beach.  (possibly this very same beach?)

AHAHAHAHA So I guess Mamoru’s getting dragging into this because he wants to do damage control in case Usagi screws up.
For someone that’s more of a klutz than graceful, Usagi sure tried to add some flair and sass to her facial expression and body language when she walked away from Mamoru and into the flower shop. It’s entertaining to realize how easily riled up she gets around Mamoru.
He sounded so judgmental when he questioned Usagi “you’re just going to show that to him!?”, it ‘s so douchey and funny!
Also. Bunny image transition! Bunny image transition! Bunny image transition! That’s so awesome!!!!!!

LMAO. While Rei can’t get mad at others for not showing up to help her, she can definitely be mad when her friend cause her MORE work to do.  At the last scene Rei’s barely holding it together and it’s glorious. I once again applaud Keiko for her superb acting!
Usagi looks so sheepish after Rei cut the line it’s hilarious, even more so when you consider that Usagi had decided that she was going to ASK REI FOR HELP. That’s why she called Rei in the first place!  She was going to ask Rei for help when she herself forgot that she was supposed to be at Rei’s RIGHT NOW to be HELPING REI out.
Usagi might not always be the most helpful person when she’s trying to help, but it’s terrifying that she has such destructive powers in her when she’s not that.
But in all seriousness though, I really love this detail here.  It’s such a clever way to explain why Usagi WILL BE stuck with Mamoru in this episode, and justify why the girls are indisposed to be giving a hand.  It’s also so amazing to see that Usagi’s comfortable enough to ask Rei for help on this, likely something that’s she’s become much more comfortable with doing since Act 10 when Rei took her in for the few hours when Usagi ran away from home.  Previously as seen, Usagi would have asked Ami or Makoto for help first, but this time she called Rei first.
I LOVE this tiny detail so much, BECAUSE IT’S SO FUCKING IMPORTANT.

We kick off second round of Act 13 liveblogging with an awesome scene that quickly establishes the main plot of this episode, and why this supposedly mysterious character that they randomly bump into because of Kamekichi has any business to be hogging screen time in a Sailor Moon show.  (lol I kid)
The amnesic piece is very quickly drawing connection point for Mamoru’s personal background, and Usagi’s also recalling Tux’s comment from the end of Act 9.
What’s interesting for me is, Shin disclosed that not only he has no memory of who he is, the fact that he claimed that he made up his own name, shows that interestingly he has failed to find anything that would inform him of his identity here in this large mansion that he’s living in it.   As I recall, we don’t get much detail about this mansion and frankly the backstory of Shin, just that we get into the fact that he’s actually Kunzite’s reincarnation.  But I’m really hoping to form some kind of fan theory about what’s going on in this place as the story unfolds in this episode.
This actually also brings a side tangent for me that, if the story’s narrative aims to parallels Mamoru’s background to Shin’s, does that mean it alludes that possibly Chiba Mamoru was also a name Mamoru himself made up? Or named by his adoptive family? :O
Lastly, I’m finding the name Shin made for himself interesting, and I’m really trying to find some kinda symbolism here.
Tumblr media
Shin’s kinda generic - it’s just scribed katakana, as shown in the memorial book. But I haven’t seen any actually scribing of the first name.  “Ichi” is probably (一) means “one” or “first”.  But how about “ou”? Is this the “ou” (王) from “Shitennou” (四天王)?  That would translate to this being the “first king”, which makes sense given he’s supposed to be the leader of the Shitennou, even though he’s introducted last.  (As all villains do, the more powerful they are, the later they get introduced.)  Would that mean for any of the other Shitennou, if they have a civilian name, their first name could end up being the equavallent of “second king”, “third king” and “fourth king”? lol

AND we are at the end of this episode with Luna exclaiming that Moon’s gonna turn into a Youma! An ACTUAL cliff hanger! :DDDDDD
You know something’s definitely wrong when Moon rose up without gushing at Tux, and even more so when you realize she’s rising like a zombie with eyes closed. haha
We really haven’t had much of a cliff hanger in PGSM so far.  The end of Act 11 was more of giving off a vibe that more’s to come and the story isn’t actually over yet, but it didn’t end with something that likely causes audience to feel anxious about what happens in Act 12.  But THIS, in the limitation of what Sailor Moon can do as a tokusatsu production, this definitely counts as a cliff hanger!
Because of the cliff hanger, the cast and crew even filmed a preview only scene for the next episode at the end of Act 13!!! For this reason, I also decided to screenshot them here.  Usually I don’t bother with the episode preview.
Tumblr media
I’m definitely eager to start Act 14 liveblog soon, but can’t promise it will happen within next week. I’ll have to see what crap work will be throwing at me now that I’ve finished my vacation.

Really hope this is the last of the flower imagery so I can stop posing to make gifs of flower. lol
Anyway, we finally actually have Kunzite reveal on screen to the audience, and Beryl looks like a proud mama-bear while she watch her flower blooms! lol
Even for first time viewers to PGSM, it’s so clear that Kunzite’s going to be play a much more significant role in PGSM than the other Shitennou, given the build up to his reveal. He basically had a full episode all to himself to be introduced, which typically means this is a significant villain, not just a “lackey” on screen.
It is too bad though that PGSM ended with barely having any callback on Kunzite’s time as Shin after this episode.  I would appreciate if they could have done that.
Also, I do recall reading that some fans had been disappointed how drastically different the Shitennou’s design have changed. I do want to say that I LOVE PGSM’s approach to the Shitennou.  Not only are they more defined as characters, but the costumes made them more individual than be treated as a collective.  Honestly, I’ve always though the original design in the manga was quite dull.  All other non-big bad villains (Nemesis, Witches 5, etc) all had much more defined and vibrant design to their looks after the Dark Kingdom arc. Endymion’s guards deserve that too!
I will say I’m slightly disappointed at the flower scene here though. It looks like it’s just a recycle of the shot earlier.  I wish they’d timed it better so it doesn’t look like the flower was “reblooming” again. :/
