Chazzawrites Challenge
Day 23.- Tag a writeblr you love seeing on your dash
@petrichorsis is one that I recently followed!! Wether is writing related posts or normal, daily life or meme posts, I like his content in general. They have a calm vibe to them that may be related to his profile picture xD
Some of his wips are really interesting, like The Canticle of Flies, specially in the premise, and he just seems like an overall nice guy.
We haven't really interacted a lot, but hopefully we can on the future owo)b

Find the Word Tag Game
Thanks for tagging me @spacetimewraithwrites :D my words were haze, favor, hunger, ridge, and fail - technically these lines are from my last short-lived draft of Ark before I decided to cut the Kidnapped Mom plot, but some of the beginning stuff might end up in Holiday, who knows.
Haze:  Sarta turns and bows to me. “May the coming year bring you happiness and prosperity, Miss Gadara.”
“Thank you.” I return the gesture in a haze.
Favor:  My shoulders slump. “A hundred vials of prisma. That’s so much. We have to ask the Collective for help. I’ll pay it back somehow. I’ll find a way.”
“No.” Maddox shakes his head. “We don’t ask them for favors.”
Hunger:  He places a plate of salad in front of me, then a stack of bread. I’ve been so lost in the tablecloth I didn’t notice him. “Did you think I forgot about you?” he asks.
I glance up. He’s as frazzled as I must look. Puffy eyes and staticky hair. “Oh, no. I’m just...a little hungry.”
Ridge:   Rows of cellopaper scrolls stretch out like ridges and gullies into the darkness around me. The faint light makes them appear transparent, as if nothing is written or painted on them at all.
Fail:  He makes my failure sound so incidental.
---
Tagging @toboldlywrite @woodhousejay (you tagged me in one of these recently and argh sorry I can’t find it now!) @glitch-in-space @worldcycle @petrichorsis (tbh I’m not certain if yall do tag games, no pressure and feel free to ignore if you’re not into it-)

Three Questions Tag
Thanks to @howdywrites for tagging me!
Rules: post 3 random facts about yourself (or your book/oc) and send it to the last 7 blogs in your notifications
1. I'm left-handed. that's a random fact about me lol
2. The opening to my new wip "sins of the father" is a big reference to william faulkner's As I Lay Dying, with a character building a casket right on the front lawn, and a dead parental figure asking to be buried in a certain city. unlike As I Lay Dying, the main character of my wip refuses to bury his father somewhere else, and the plot diverges from there. I referenced it because it's in the southern gothic genre, which I'm aiming for in this wip, along with horror. also, it's just fun to reference other pieces of media (like a scene in my other wip ignis, which is a reference to the tv show hannibal, or a couple of characters in that story that are named after characters from the septimus heap series by angie sage, or even a section that's supposed to evoke the "statement of" style of the magnus archives).
3. more nerd stuff: I like messing around with textual details, like in Ignis, where all of the italicized text is actually the demon (the main antagonist) talking. The reader is supposed to interpret the italicized text as the main character thinking at first, but as the story goes on, you start to realize that the italics go against the actual motivations of the pov character and it's someone else talking in their head. at least, that's the goal
I'll tag without pressure: @storyhole, @petrichorsis, @luminescent-writer, and @corkythewriteblr

Writing Questions Tag Game
Thank you @sparkles-and-hens for tagging me!
My Question(s):
What’s a word that you, no matter how many times you write it, cannot spell? Mine is definitely (yes I had to right-click that)
In french : Extrêmement (i tend to forget a syllable).
In English : library and fantasy (similar words in french so)
Have you ever completely lost faith in yourself as a writer? How and why? If not, or you prefer not to answer, Describe what your worst case of writer’s block ever felt like.
I think I’ve never lost faith, as I don’t have a lot faith in my writer’s abilities to begin with. Even if some have tell me otherwise, I don’t consider myself a writer or good one. Writing and thinking about stories is something really personal, so I tend to not share it with anyone (until writeblr happened).
I don’t write constantly either but I can talk my experience about The Prosperity Sphere, my choose-your-own-adventure novel. It began 10 years ago. The first years I wrote it rather constantly during my breaks. And then I rewrote the introduction at least five times. And I stopped writing it. For years. I only picked it up this nanowrimo. (and it’s on hold again because life is in the way) (and also another wip). What helped me was to work on something much smaller, and achieve it. Now I have the confidence that I can do it, even if it will be a lot of work and time.
So do smaller things to built up to bigger ones. Smaller is less scary.
My Question(s):
How do you get in your writing zone? Do you have rituals or do you need something specific like a drink or a playlist?
How do you name your characters? Do you use baby name books? Do you throw darts on a list? Did you pick them from the naming-characters-Goblet of Fire?
I’ll tag @mel-writes-with-her-dragons, @petrichorsis, @vivian-is-writing and anyone who would like to answer :)

Find the Word tag game
thanks to @petrichorsis for tagging me!
my words were: bone, dog, shatter, glow, hollow. these are all pulled from my wip ignis
bone:
Straight through the center of the castle, she struck the floor and it shattered like an eggshell. The sharp crack of wood split her ears and she thought, certainly that was the sound of bones breaking, but it wasn’t, and she was still falling.
dog: not found rip
shatter:
He felt as if he might break apart, shatter into thousands of tiny pieces, but he managed to pull himself back together, taking deep breaths to calm down. After a moment, he looked up.
glow:
A dark figure stood in the cornfield. The only visible thing about it was its eyes, glowing red embers set in its shadowy face. Its gaze burned into her as the smoke swallowed them both.
hollow:
Aster took another step, and her heart plunged with the feeling that something was very wrong. She had just enough time to realize that it was the floorboards, shaky and unstable and hollow, before they fell away. She jumped back as a hail of dust shot upwards and the boards collapsed. An entire section of the floor caved in like a black maw opening, surrounded by jagged wooden teeth. The crash echoed off the walls, deafening in the early morning silence.
I'll tag: @corkythewriteblr, @zenabena-writes, and @luminescent-writer
your words are: night, bush, profile, gown, suspect

Thumbprint Challenge
Thnk you for the tag @blindthewind!! I have a lot of wips so it was nice to revisit some that I have since a lot time ago
Rules: look back on your work, both past and present, finished and unfinished. what are five to ten narrative elements or tropes that continuously pop up in your work? tag as many people as the number of tropes you listed.
Frienship power/Found family- I love this trope. Like. I. LOVE. IT. I use it every time, sometimes even without thinking, and when I do add it consciously I try to go all out in the feels department. I love to write it and I love to read it, it's so powerful to me and wholesome 😭💙
The Maguffin- In a lot of my wips there's a maguffin: an item that everyone wants because x reasons. Ngl, I like a lot the Maguffin trope, but I think I like to write it a little bit more than to read it. The Maguffin type of story I like the most is when you have to collect all of the things to achieve something, Card Captor Sakura style.
Meetings that change fate- This is basically all my stories. Characters that could have had a normal life but they meet someone or find something that changes their lifes forever. I love this trope probably because I like the saying of "No man is an island" and is just great to watch characters entering a new world because of one small meeting.
Dynamic duos- Part of the last one, to have one character that know everything about the new world the other character is getting into, watch their relationship progress and have ups and downs is another recurrent thing. I do have groups of protagonists, but even so I tend to focus on just two of them.
The Outcast- I'm a black sheep. Been my whole life and I'll keep being one. I cannot not write about outcasts, underdogs and misfits, and there's at least one in almost every wip. I love a good story about the outcast making their own way in the world against all odds. Maybe because I love talking about the outcast experience is why I love the found family/power of frienship trope.
Everyday person who turns into a hero- Having normal people who get into shenanigans until they grow up to be a badass is another thing I repeat a lot, mostly because I get to explore the feelings and thoughts of people when they get thrown into what-if scenarios. I guess you could also call it a type of Hero's Journey? 🤔
6 tropes so 6 people!! @witherednightmare @radiomacbeth @petrichorsis @mel-writes-with-her-dragons @isherwoodj @goblingraveyard

Line sharing Game
Thanks for the tag @blindthewind!! So, remember that colletion of stories I said I wrote for a contest a few weeks ago? I’m gonna be sharing lines from those, since it’s the most recent writing I’ve done and I’m kinda proud of them.
Rules: Share as many of your favorite line/lines you’re proud of from your wip as you want!
I tried to pick the one I like the most from each story. The second one is missing cause I couldn’t pick tho 😅
Story 1
“Do you like me better with black hair?”, she smiled bitterly.
“No... You’re cute, no matter what”, he smiled sweetly.
Story 3
But none of that was important. Casio didn’t need to see Inoa again, and vice versa. Casio probably had a right to it, but he decided to ignore that completely. That would be his bad action of the day.
Story 4
“His dad? He has a dad?”
“Had. Died long ago. If you’ve heard of my father, you’ve probably heard of his. His last name was Frankenstein.”
I'll tag @chalkflint and @petrichorsis, no pressure!

Writing Questions Tag Game
Thanks to @petrichorsis for tagging me!
My Questions:
When you write, do you write the entire first draft and then edit, or do you reread and edit as you go along?
I do some very minor edits in the course of writing a first draft (like fixing details for continuity or changing word choice when I transfer it from paper to my computer), but I try to just get the first draft done before doing significant edits.
Do you struggle with dialogue or descriptions more, or are you pretty good at both?
I think I have the same level of ability at both of them. My first draft dialogue can sometimes be awkward, so I usually fix that in editing. Sometimes I struggle with getting descriptions down and getting the pacing of a description-full passage correct, but I'm able to capture the vibe I want eventually. Editing is much easier than drafting lol
Do you have a favorite author(/s) who's style you try to emulate or otherwise draw influence from, or is your style all on your own?
I draw specific inspiration from different pieces of media but overall I think my style is unique. Like I might steal a theme or concept from another book or movie or something and change it to make it my own, but I don't try to emulate the style of another specific author.
I'll tag @andiwriteunderthemoon, @ecwrenn, and @strangerays

Writing Questions Tag game
Thanks for the tag @petrichorsis!! These are my answers:
-When you write, do you write the entire first draft and then edit, or do you reread and edit as you go along?
I first write the entire thing and then I edit it, but if I'm in a block for whtever reason, I may go back and edit even without finishing it. If I'm honest I'm kinda bad at editing cause I don't realize what can be improved and what is a misstep in my own writing unless it's pretty obvious, so most of the time I need someone else to point it out for me.
-Do you struggle with dialogue or descriptions more, or are you pretty good at both?
I think I'm good at both? If anything, I struggle with descriptions when it's about feelings. Sometimes I wish I was writing a visual novel to portray better the amount of feels, positive or negative, a character is having, cause I can't find the right words.
-Do you have a favorite author(/s) who's style you try to emulate or otherwise draw influence from, or is your style all on your own?
I definitely draw influence from Eiichiro Oda's worldbuilding and exposition, and I always try to remember hiw Jules Verne does descriptions while I write. Besides that, the rest of ny style hs mostly been crafted trhought trial and error of what I like and what I thinks works.
Now these are the questions for the people I'll tag:
1- What do you enjoy writing more, protagonists or antagonists? Or you enjoy them equally?
2- Where do you start when you begin to develop a story, with the characters, plot, worldbuilding, etc?
3- How do you know when a story and your work on it is finished?
I tag @witherednightmare @blindthewind @mel-writes-with-her-dragons @isherwoodj and @radiomacbeth for this owo)

Writing Tag game
Thanks for the tag @mel-writes-with-her-dragons!! The question is:
What is your favourite "writing memory"? Is there any scene in particular that you really really enjoyed writing for whatever reason? Please put some excerpts if there is, I'd love to read them!!
It was the day I finished the outline for one of my biggest projects. I had been working on that tuing fir YEARS easily and couldn't find a way to complete that left me satisfied, but that day I managed to do it.
And I was SO HAPPY like jfc I DID IT!!!! YEAH!!!!! It was lso one of the first outlines I managed to finish so add there the extra serotonin!!!!!
..............AAAnd then I decided I didn't like it and changed the whole fricking worldbuilding, so I had to re-do the whole thing again. However, I'm still very proud of that version that I managed to get done, and just of the fact that I got it done. And at least I used it to get to know the characters and their arcs more or less. The version 3.0 of that outline is still very very rough, but it's also done, so y'know, as a plantser I could totally use it still.
My question is:
If you could get a visual adaptation (live action series, cartoon, movie, etc) of one of your wips, which one would it be and in what format would you like to see it?
I'll tag @the-writing-avocado @goblingraveyard @crystallized-ink and @petrichorsis with no pressure!!

Heads up 7 up
Thank you for the tag @witherednightmare!!
This is from a fic I'm writing about Bungou Stray Dogs, which recently I continued after a long hiatus:
"However, during the real work you'll fight against armed people all the time. Besides, I think your ability allows you to heal really fast, right? Then, for this special training with the Black Lizards, I'll hammer in your head how to deal with someone with a gun."
Tachihara took out another pistol, and aimed both at him. Atsushi couldn't believe it. All this... Just for training?
"Don't die too easy, got it?" Tachihara said, with a scary grin.
(The fic is in ao3 but it's in Spanish btw)
I'll tag @the-writing-avocado and @petrichorsis and anyone who wants to do this too!

Find the word tag game
I was tagged by @petrichorsis! Thanks, I love find the word tag game! It may take me time, but I’ll do it eventually!
My words are bone, dog, shatter, glow, hollow. Let’s go with my main wip Heck Alek!
Bone
She was above all excited about meeting in the flesh* Selena, the Flail’s mentor, who had turned the Tournament tables nine years ago.
*and bones (otherwise it doesn’t count? why is the expression like missing half from french?)
-
Os : Elle était surtout fébrile à l'idée de rencontrer en chair et en os Selena, la mentor du Fléau, celle qui avait retourné l'ensemble de l'esprit de la compétition il y avait 9 ans.
Dog
:( no doggo in my wip.
Shatter
He took her hand, which looked like so fragile, a glass sculpture ready to shatter if it wasn’t handled with care.
-
Se briser : Il lui prit la main, qui lui parut si fine tout à coup, une sculpture de verre prête à se briser si on ne savait pas comment la manipuler.
Glow
The sand bubbled, radiating a red glow on his pale face.
-
Lueur : Le sable bouillonnait, irradiant d'une lueur rougeâtre sa figure blême.
Hollow
Eyka massaged her palm nervously, thumb pressed in the hollow, trying to juggle her stress.
-
Creux : Eyka se massait nerveusement la paume de la main, le pouce pressé dans le creux, cherchant à juguler le pic de stress.
---
I’ll tag, with no pressure as always, @perditism, @ashen-crest, @happyorogeny and @sparkles-and-hens and anyone who’d like to join!
Your words are: tinkle, tired, sleep, sour and deep.
