5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes!!! I love comments so much. They give me the encouragement I need to keep writing even when I'm feeling self-doubt or writer's block.❤️

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

As of right now, none of my completed fics have unhappy endings! I guess the closest is The Brightest Star in the Sky because it's post-war so grief is an essential part of the fic. But the story is about Harry and Ginny finding a moment of comfort in the midst of their pain. So...does that count?

My Jily one-shots were written so that I could give myself a break from the heartache of James being dead in Kindly Stopped for Me so they are all mostly happy😅 (although there is some angst in Mosaic Broken Hearts).

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably. This Mad, Mad Love. Although I'm just now realizing that several of my one-shots end with love confessions lol. I guess that's something I really wanted to write this year😅

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Occasionally on Kindly Stopped for Me. It hasn't been that bad, compared to what I know other authors have had to deal with, but yeah. I've gotten pretty liberal with the delete button recently, which has been good for my peace of mind, and I might turn off guest comments if this negative trend continues in the future (though I don't want to do that if I don't have to because not all guest comments are negative!)

I write for fun, as a hobby, so I have no time for people who think it's appropriate to leave unsolicited criticism or snarky comments on my work. Writing is an emotionally vulnerable thing to do, sharing writing publicly even more so, and I won't engage with people who don't respect that.

That said, I've been very fortunate in that the vast majority of comments I receive are lovely and encouraging. The Jily community in particular is a wonderful place full of people who have been so nice to me, and I'm constantly amazed by all the people (from the Jily community and beyond) who take the time out of their day to share kindness about my stories!!! Even a simple comment really really means a lot!

9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?

I haven't yet. But I might in the future. Who knows!

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No. That's just not my thing!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so. I hope not!!!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope!

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Does the Jilytober Jilyexpress count? Because if so, yes. If not, then no. (but I'm open to it!) 😅

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I'd definitely say Jily. It's the ship that got me into fanfiction (the first fic I ever read was TLAT!) and it's still my favorite. But Hinny is a very very close second! I love those two ships with my whole heart.

Outside of HP, I'd have to go with Percabeth. I've never read any fanfics (maybe I will someday), but the Percy Jackson books were a huge part of my childhood!

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I don't have one!! I know for a fact that I will finish Kindly Stopped for Me because I have the whole story plotted out and it takes up SO much of my thoughts at all times lol. My (possibly ambitious) goal is to finish it by February 6, 2024 because I posted the first chapter on February 6, 2023😅 But if I'm really productive I could potentially finish it by the end of 2023. We'll see! But it will for sure be finished either way.

As for The Joker and The Queen, I don't have the full plot outlined yet so I don't have a schedule in my mind of when it will be done. But I don't have any doubts that I'll finish it!

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm good at dialogue. That's something that comes naturally to me, maybe in part because I have a lot of theatre experience and have read MANY plays in my life. So dialogue is definitely the most essential part of that!

I also think I'm good at writing angst. It seems to come more naturally than fluff, even though I'm generally happy these days.😂

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Brevity. I know it's the soul of wit, but it is not one of my strengths!!

I wish I could be paid by the word like Charles Dickens. I'd probably be thriving financially if that was my life😂

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I mean...I took French for 7 years in school and then attended university in a bilingual English/French city. So...theoretically I could write some dialogue in French. Maybe? I can read it pretty well, even though I'm still not confident with speaking it. But I'm kind of rusty on it and I don't think I have the confidence to attempt to write creatively in French unless I have a beta reader who is more fluent.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I've only ever written for HP.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

It has to be Kindly Stopped for Me. I'm really enjoying writing it and there are certain chapters that I am VERY excited to share with you all!

All the main characters are of age to be married off so its ball season

Percy and Annabeth are THE enemies to lovers ship

Prince Jason needs to marry to get the thrown so he marries Lady Piper, one of the many daughters of Viscountess Aphrodite(none of whom have the same father), but he has feelings for Leo Valdez a blacksmith! But it's okay because Piper has had growing feelings for a certain dame named Reyna!

Random idea that needs to be included is Calypso is a queen from a ally kingdom and comes to the wedding and falls in love with Apollo

Alabaster and Lou were camper but Alabaster was one of the first people Luke recruited

Chiron suspected Alabaster since he would always sneak out w/Luke, Chris, and Ethan

Lou Ellen was clueless to this and Chiron called her to the Big House shortly after Luke left

she was asked to be a spy for the camp as Alabaster was going to ask Lou to join

cue the next four years of Lou's life from the ages of 10 to 14 sending info on the Titan Army back to camp and the only people who know are Chiron and Mr.D

This reminded me of a shirbert fake dating college au I read and LOVED where Anne and Gilbert pretend to be a couple so they can take part in survey/study and get paid and omg ahhh

you better make it soon (before you break my heart)

(I read a few other of their fics as well and really enjoyed them.. I just love modern AU shirbert gimme)

The first fic that I thought of was you like new york city in the daytime (ao3, ffnet) by @smileymikey (hi mia!), all their percabeth fics are under the username herecomesthepun; this is such a fun little percabeth fake dating au and I'm sure I went absolutely insane the first time when I read it (also side note I love everything percabeth related mia has ever written every single fic is a must read for me💞)

I know mia as well was planning an arranged marriage fic with Piper as a princess and at the time Jason being a prince from another kingdom and their arranged marriage (those I think there might be some changes in terms of Piper's love interest now?) and I think you would love that Bambi; it was to be mostly a percabeth centred fic with Piper's arranged marriage etc being a bit more background.

Also one other one that I just remembered! 1-800-CAPTAIN by lovelunarchron (ao3, ffnet), it's a Cresswell fic, one of my favourite The Lunar Chronicles fic ever. Cress needs someone to pretend to be her boyfriend while she visits her family for Christmas, enter Thorne. Shenanigans ensure; I watched The Proposal a few years after reading this and couldn't help thinking "this movie wishes it was this fic" If you like the concept of that film I think you'll LOVE this! Also I adore so many of lovelunarchron's multichapter fics as well, literally some of the best tlc fics out there

Now that I've typed this all out I feel like it's a B tipping into an A 😅? I wouldn't really tend to actively search for it but I'm realising how many I've read and actually really loved but yeah

Ho boy, okay, just going to do a ranking of my favorite ones (honestly in no order in particular, except number one, number one is number one) and if you want my opinion on others please let me know

Friends to lovers - listen this cannot be beat okay, this has it all; truth be told i dont know how anyone even dates someone they aren't friends with to begin with

Enemies to friends to lovers - also this has it all, the tension, the moment of "oh fuck i actually like them" but friends to lovers took first place because idk its soft

Mutual Pining - need i explain why no fic is complete without this Special shout out to idiots in love - it belongs in this category - example Person A can read Person B's emotions, but Person A is an idiot and it takes him forever to realize Person B is in love with them too

Late night conversations +/- cuddling - theres something about the vulnerability of just talking to someone in the middle of the night that gets me

There's only one bed - self-explanatory

Hurt / Comfort - self-explanatory

Slow Burn - have i mentioned how much i fucking love the slow build up and angst and tension and just the joy of shit working out

Fluff - just give me the two of them being domestic and happy and treating each other right and i'll be set

Soulmate AU - especially when its like reincarnation or the you can read whatever your soulmate writes on you or you can only see your soulmate in dreams or something like that; bonus points if they're best friends but don't know they're each other's soulmates. Also bestie let me tell you, there was this soulmate au fic that forever has me in a chokehold: it was basically My skin literally burns everyone but you're the only person who can touch me and not get burned and It's not necessarily stated as a soulmate AU but shit still felt like it. God what a shame the last half of that fic wasn't as good as the first half.

Fake dating - MY GOD if this doesn't fucking have it all, especially if its a friends to lovers situation - there’s a REALLY FUCKING GOOD Percabeth one i can share w you if you want 

Alternate Universe - I love a good AU where its the exact same characters but just in a modern setting.

Percy Jackson AU where Percabeth happens much earlier than in canon but it’s a fake dating thing because everyone either has a crush on Percy or Annabeth (or both) and it’s getting old
