Great news for uninsured adults in the USA who want a COVID-19 booster! It now appears that ALL CVS locations are now active participants in the Bridge Access Program. The Bridge Access Program gives out free Covid-19 vaccinations to 18+ adults who otherwise can't afford one, so if you have a CVS near you, please go get one! For others who don't have a CVS near them, please go to vaccines.gov, click on "Find Covid-19 vaccines", fill out which vaccines you prefer (you can mix different vaccines if you have to so i reccomend just marking all of them for the age groups you need), and when the next page loads mark the "Bridge Access Program Participant" option to see only locations that are Bridge Access Program participants. Hopefully, other places that aren't CVS will start participating soon, so just check back every so often to see if there are any updates. The CDC Bridge Access Program website also has more details on what locations will be participating, but only CVS is appearing as an active participant on the vaccines.gov location finder at the moment.

you know what boils my blood.
over the last 2 weeks, i've seen countless patients walk into my urgent care center, symptomatic for so many things, refusing to get tested for covid and flu, citing that they don't want to knowingly bring it to their holiday tables. i had a patient tell me, verbatim, "i don't want to test for covid, because i don't want to be the asshole who brings it on a plane."
i understand that - i understand that holidays are times where people look forward to meeting loved ones that they might only see once a year, or where they get a break from the hectic back and forth of their lives.
but here's the thing - whether they get tested or not, they will bring whatever they have to their holiday tables. it's pure recklessness to know that you're sick, and walk into someone else's house spreading the disease.
today, january 2, i saw 91 patients, many of them who have tested positive for covid and flu. many of these patients are the same ones who didn't want testing 3 days ago, until their events were over, and now, they will have to reach out to everyone they know to let them know that they were positive because they were showing symptoms well before their event.
the next week or two? we're going to see many, many more, all people with symptoms that started around christmas. these are the only two viruses we test for rapidly in our office, but they are potent and can be fatal in many people.
so here's why i wrote this post, and maybe it's a little late, but - if you care about your loved ones, please get tested if you know you're sick. it doesn't have to be at a clinic if you don't want it to, because the over-the-counter tests work just fine too (if you test within 5-7 days of symptom onset). just...please don't try to run from the knowledge that you might have covid, because immunocompromised people, elderly people, people with co-morbidities like asthma, pregnancy, diabetes, etc...many of them may not recover. and they may not be sitting at your holiday table in the future because of it.

whats so fun about the vaccinator (vacc slander)?
You come to my blog and disrespect me like that.
Have some vaccinator propaganda.
Some textless panels that I enjoyed drawing and rambling about the vaccinator medigun under the cut.
Surprise, it's only medic.
I am not saying the vaccinator is not absolutely broken, I 100% feel dirty using it against a badly coordinated team, hence I wouldn't mind if it received a nerf in the future.
A lot of people analyse the vaccinator as only useful against a badly coordinated enemy team, but I think it's much better as a weapon for when your own team sucks ass has bad synergy, since any form of uber is pretty much wasted on everyone (if you can even build enough charge). To compensate for everyone's mistakes, just make sure they stay alive long enough to capture points and push the cart. Everyone will automatically stay with you, and soon you'll have a nice meat shield of 4 people swarming around you. You know it's working, when there's suddenly 3 demoknights and a spy after you.
I love micromanaging my resistance bubbles, and I love micromanaging my team without them noticing that I'm doing it. Pressing the R-button to rotate through resistances feels like such a much more engaging contribution to the battles your patients are fighting.
Vaccinator is busted, but absolutely not boring.
And to close this rambling, here's my fav video about the vaccinator:

It's flu season again so please go get the annual flu vaccine. Flu is not just a bad cold and can lead to serious illness whether you're immunocompromised or not.
Flu vaccines are generally available from your doctor or pharmacy and depending on your personal circumstances you might be eligible for a free dose. If you have to pay like I did, in ireland it's 30-35 euros max and well worth it.
I have had the actual honest to god influenza once in my life. It was absolutely miserable.
Also, ask about covid boosters as well. I'm not in one of the prioritised groups, but I enquired at the pharmacy anyway (explaining that I live with my elderly parents) and they were able to accomodate me as they had a sufficient supply. Covid has not gone away and everything new we find out about it's effects on the human immune system is horrifying.

(this is purely anecdotal and should be noted people misclick or lie on polls all the time and does not serve to imply the results are accurate. the reality is there is a small chance of severe symptoms from covid vaccination that is much smaller than that of long covid, and it is even smaller if you've not had long term effects already from previous vaccination. op supports vaccination for those who can tolerate it and treats the covid pandemic seriously as well as people harmed by covid vaccination and long covid and loved one's lost from covid)
also if you do have any long term effects would love to discuss about it!

Hey Americans, it’s fall 2023 and the adult Covid vaccines are STILL FREE at certain pharmacies. Even if you have no health insurance. Even if you have health insurance but the insurance company likes to whine about CVS being “out of network” for vaccinations.
Find out more FAQ stuff from the CDC here:
And find your local locations with free vaccines below. Once you’ve put in your zip code and hit “go”, on the next page, make sure to click the checkbox that says “BRIDGE Access Participant” so you know these locations have the free shots.

have I somehow ruined myself for perfectly average movies? I watched both Robots (2023) and The Deer King (2021) and both of them were fine---Deer King was better, but suffered from trying to jam too much into a single film; Robots should have been more black-humored, delighting in its lazy sociopaths and their vaguely squalid world. But that's it, that's all they were---fine. Just fine.
Does this mean I have to watch exclusively Films now? I can't get into a movie unless it's black and white, or two hours of characters speaking sideways and having neuroses at each other?

we laugh at the bored ape UV blinding incident but it was probably the most covid free venue of the year, you just have to sacrifice your eyeballs and skin

Here’s the proof on the Death Sticks. The Conspiracy Realists are crushing it the past 3 years. It’s got to be at least 18-0.

Does the "COVID is AIDS" crowd sincerely believe that 80+% of the US population will suffer an agonizing death in a few years? Because COVID is bad but if you are forecasting a literal apocalypse I don't even know how you function.
