Cover art from Labyrinths, Jorge Luis Borges
Time is living me. More silent than my shadow, I pass through the loftily covetous multitude. They are indispensable, singular, worthy of tomorrow. My name is someone and anyone. I walk slowly, like one who comes from so far away he doesn't expect to arrive.
Jorge Luis Borges, Boast of Quietness

All around us are people, of all classes, of all nationalities, of all ages. For three days these people, these strangers to one another, are brought together. They sleep and eat under one roof, they cannot get away from each other. At the end of three days they part, they go their several ways, never, perhaps, to see each other again.

Only in silence the word, only in dark the light, only in dying life: bright the hawk’s flight on the empty sky. – The Creation of Éa [from A Wizard of Earthsea, by Ursula K. Le Guin (1968)]

I was watching 'Turning Terry Pratchett's Discworld into Audiobooks and noticed this in his office (I think they said it was Terry's office in Wiltshire, England). I do not know who put it there but I cried. The neon sign says 'Mind how you go...'. Aziraphale said it to Crowley after they found Agnes' book in the Bentley.
