SHINE PAPERS
I rolled my first joint last night! Lmao! 🧚🏽😗💨 I love connecting with brands who are just automatically in sync with me! Thank you Shine Papers for sending me gold papers and a cone! #AD
🍃 Being from Oakland, smoking (haha) I’ve smoked weed since I was about 17. I never really had to learn to roll. All my friends would do it for me, boyfriends rolled for me. I always just utilized bowls, bongs, and pre- rolls!
So I was excited to try again when my art manager, gifted me home grown flower from her backyard AND simultaneously
Shine Papers sent me some goodies!
This cone made its SUPER easy while giving me the satisfaction of someone who rolled from scratch bc who gon check me boo?! 🤣
Shoutout to Vince at Shine Papers! These are perfect for enduring family Christmas awkward moments people!

Interior Decor As A Special Interest While Decorating for My 24th Birthday Dinner Party Photoshoot
this weekend i am having a birthday party for myself wherein i plan on taking dinner party portraits of my friends eating pizza & fancy cake in my formal dining room : in lieu of gifts, i’ve asked friends to model for my photography portfolio! please excuse that the last couple photos here are not indicative of my full potential as a photographer <3 i’ll take nice hallway pics when i have decorated it.
my house was built in the late victorian era in ontario, canada & has since received plumbing, electricity, and a lot of wood in the 1970s or earlier. i take special consideration toward mcm & victorian design, but also integrate other influences. i am by no means done decorating my home, which i’ll go into, but i have gotten a lot done since my first birthday party here a year ago! i hope to continue similar progress toward my home by next year and will update this post with how i decorate for my 25th birthday.
the dining room in which i’ll be taking most of the photos is newly painted & still within the process of being decorated. i have more art than frames, but will be adding a rich blue with some prints by small artists i got recently as well as perhaps some blue tableware to bring in some colour variation. for the time being i’m happy with brining in silver for the vintage party aesthetic using some faux tinsel & a small table lamp. the tinsel covers a window into the kitchen, which is great sometimes but not the perfect backdrop for my birthday dinner party … photoshoot. above the window is my long-beloved but never-hung animal head flanked by some candleholders with a carved heart; this is a recurring motif in my thrifted wooden deco. there might’ve been a coatrack in my childhood home or something, but i like the hearts here in particular to indicate any satanic vibes are with love.
i’m not sure when the ceiling was made to look like this but as far as ceilings go it’s quite beautiful & the only one i’m perfectly content not ever painting - though how pretty would a blue sky swirling with pink and white clouds look on there? i’m going to change the medallion for something more floral, and the chandelier for something yet to be decided.
for now, the bows!! i’m reusing the ribbon i cut for my tree last year, and tying it to the chandelier i have not yet had the budget to change. there’s pagan and victorian influence for using ribbon to decorate for festivities but generally i just think they’re pretty & fit the vibe of my dining room. i have my eye on a few lights; my gut instinct has always been to get or make a big flower light made of paper or something else warm feeling, but i’m worried about it collecting dust over my dining table. also, there’s the issue of the ceiling’s drive toward the centre against the otherwise asymmetric room - and especially dining table.

the light is in the middle of the room, but because (without giving away too much info about my house) i live in kind-of a shotgun house plus some additions; it’s landed me with a wall of both the living room & the dining room acting as part of a hallway ending with a door out the house on each end. this means that with a large dining table like i newly have, i can’t centre it under the light / within the room without obstructing the path to the kitchen & wasting space on the opposite end of the room. spanning the wall adjacent to the living room is a large built-in hutch [pictured below] which i regularly swap around depending on who is living here & what decor is being used elsewhere. this is directly across from the tinsel.

i currently have the old, smaller dining table beneath a window in the dining room perpendicular to the large one as a sort-of breakfast nook & painting desk; i don’t yet know what i’m doing with that space nor that table but the window is a great opportunity for a daybed or something. there’s also some of a friend/old roommates stuff & furniture taking up that space which i’ve cropped out, so i’m waiting to take all that on until he can put the rest of his stuff in storage. regardless, that starts the talk of how to balance a room that desperately wants to be symmetrical - but cosmically can’t.
here’s what i’ve done to compensate for the offset table: in the end, the opposing windows are not centred with the light (nor eachother) so symmetry is only somewhat possible; i’m leaning into it. for now i’ve just got these candles that i’ve ordered and burnt to have a staggered decrease in height toward the light fixture; this is in an attempt to balance the visual weight of the chandelier on the empty side of the table. among other things, i’d like to eventually place a large piece of artwork to the left of the window with a picture light above it on the wall to bring in some moodiness, texture, and rich colour. for now that’s done by the deep red velvet curtains & admittedly-awkwardly-placed rug (due to a vent under the far window). i also have plans for a table runner and/or placemats, but for now the table is brand new and can shine a lil first. i’ve also added a silver cake stand directly under the light so i can treat it as the head of the table.
the chairs are also a temporarily measure and will eventually be patio/outdoor chairs; for now, they are 8 matching chairs. eventually i’d like to collect a bunch of mismatched wooden dining chairs to fill this table, but i didn’t have the time to do that between deciding to buy the table and the party. the second table has two black metal bistro chairs.

lasty, i painted the tiny front hallway the same blue as the bay window (which i recently added these bugs to) & built a shelf for additional shoe storage! i have hooks on the way but they lay not end up being used here, as well as a tapestry to decide how high to hang on the opposite wall (with some adorable mcm wood clasps). this shoe storage admittedly looks cheap, and i’ll replace it eventually, but it’s good enough for now + and i can style it when not having a big party. the colouring is a nice contrast with the light blue, and it’ll be durable to wet shoes.

i’m keeping in mind what order i’m making my home purchases since i have to make them slowly, i know it’s not as exciting to see slow change so i’m saving up footage to make a big video about the first x amount of time decorating here. stay tuned if you’d like to see that & updates until then & also other stuff!

New Year's banner can set the tone for your celebration and inspire a sense of excitement and hope for the year ahead
Tumblr media
A New Year's banner is a visually appealing and festive decoration that serves as the focal point of your New Year's Eve celebration. Its purpose is to set the tone for the upcoming year, infusing the atmosphere with excitement, joy, and hope for the future. New Year's banners often incorporate symbols of celebration, such as fireworks, champagne glasses, clock faces approaching midnight, confetti, and the number of the upcoming year. These symbols represent the transition from the old year to the new one. Banner House is a leading supplier of high quality New year Banners across Australia.
