Hey doordash drivers, hey instacart drivers, hey any voluntary delivery driver for an app, I have some news for you. Disabled people who cannot get their groceries on their own very rarely have extra money to tip, especially with all the extra fees and delivery charges they need to pay to just eat. They will tip you if they can, they literally cannot sometimes and that isn't their fault. They still deserve their groceries. They still deserve their food. They still deserve help. If you're voluntarily driving for an app when you can easily get another job and you're complaining about the people who literally cannot get a job, or go outside, or drive, or see needing to get their food no matter how little they have, you should think about who really needs this more. They have no other option when they don't have help. They have no other option when they can't do it themselves. If you're voluntarily doing this job, and blaming the people giving you the orders that you already get paid for anyway, just because they literally do not have the money does not mean they aren't deserving. That they're doing it on purpose. That they're taking advantage of you. That they're doing it maliciously. You need to understand some people have no other option even if you do. Be more considerate. You have no idea what people are going through mentally, physically, financially, medically. Everyone deserves food. Everyone deserves help. Everyone deserves comfort. Even if they can't spend another 5/6 dollars of their limited disability funds. Sometimes it's not about you. Sometimes people aren't after you. Sometimes people aren't trying to hurt you, but trying to survive themselves.

i love my mom because sometimes she'll just casually say "me and your dad went swinging" and upon seeing the confusion on my face, she'll ask "haven't i ever told you about the time me and your dad accidentally went swinging?"
anyway, my parents accidentally went swinging one time.

What would happen if I asked my OC with paraplegia not to move so I can draw him right:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Meet Stan
Okey, so this is my another OC, so far the only one with paraplegia.
I created his story in 2011, procrastinating from learning to another very important medical exam (naturally). The said story was so weird to me, full of improper sexual jokes and the most ridiculous boy & girl relationship I could have ever imagined...
Now I think it was very weird for sharing on Deviantart - but probably not weird enough to share on Tumblr...🤔 I mean he and his girlfriend are cishet. But definitly not normal.

Who invented the wheelchair.
Stephan Farfler, a paraplegic clock-maker from Nuremberg, Germany, created a remarkable invention in 1655 that changed the lives of people with disabilities forever. At the tender age of 22, Farfler built his own mobility aid after having broken his back as a child. This invention was the first self-propelled wheelchair, a ground-breaking achievement that revolutionized the way people with…

I'm seeing a whole lot of comments aimed at bloggers with paralytic disorders along the lines of "if you're paralysed why can you do x? Checkmate faker!!!" and like... you guys do know that not all paralysis is total paralysis, right? Right??
Yeah, total paralysis is a thing and is definitely worse than incomplete paralysis, but the vast majority of paraplegics, hemiplegics (myself included!) quadriplegics, etc. do retain some (greatly reduced) level of control over some or all the affected parts of their body.
Not every physically disabled person is exactly like that character you saw in House MD that one time, or the token wheelchair user character in your favourite show. No, that paraplegic/quadriplegic blogger isn't faking because they mentioned having sex. No, that hemiplegic/monoplegic blogger isn't faking because you saw a selfie they took with their affected arm. Mind your own goddamn business.

I love that MTL has so much representation. Not only do all the characters have different heights, body types and faces, they also have disabilities, illnesses, traumas, addictions, etc.
Nathan is very clearly autistic. Pickles has asthma that gets worse when stressed. They’re both severe alcoholics, Nathan even to the point where he regularly needs liver transplants. Toki has diabetes and PTSD. He gets panic attacks, age regresses and becomes mute around his parents. Skwisgaar is most likely also autistic, always stimming with his guitar, and experiences physical pain when he’s unwell mentally (also has a severe cilantro allergy lmao). Murderface is a depressed, suicidal IBS king with a lisp. He also seems to deal with cystic acne on his ass (which is SO PAINFUL).
And the side characters. Knubbler lost his eyes and had them replaced. Edgar is a paraplegic due to a car accident, completely wheelchair bound, delusional about his brother’s death (which he overcomes thankfully), and at the same time he’s one of the smartest people in the show tbh. General Crozier deals with PTSD related nightmares. The Metal Masked Assassin was born with albinism, he appears to have deformities, and wears a splint or support after getting his arm broken. Murderface’s grandpa, completely immobile and unable to speak after his stroke. Even Rockzo’s life went completely downhill because of his addiction tbh and I sometimes wonder what kind of person he would be without all the damage from all the coke.
I’m probably forgetting someone and please add on to the list if you want. But I’m just. I’m so impressed. So much representation in a show, and none of it feels forced.

you aren’t a “better” disabled person for being gentle and polite and patient with ableists who treat quadriplegics and paraplegics and other severely disabled ppl like we’re less than a dog or a piece of furniture btw
IK y’all love inclusivity and kindness and educating everyone because it makes you feel like a Good Disability Activist but I will never ever do that. these people can fucking choke. I don’t care about them. I don’t want to gently educate them. I want them to stop fucking breathing

Able bodied people proudly saying Oracle is back because Babs wore glasses and sat behind a computer in Birds of Prey #7 is frankly embarrassing.
Babs has been wearing glasses and sitting behind a computer since 2020 and even calling herself Oracle because the writers at DC are ableist.
Oracle is a disabled superhero specifically a paraplegic woman and there was zero acknowledgment of that in in Birds of Prey #7 Thompson just did what every other able bodied writer has done since 2020 and had Batgirl Babs call herself Oracle.
Like I have been a disabled person advocating for Babs to be physically disabled again since that was erased in 2011 and its amazing how easy it is for DC to trick able bodied people to post about how Oracle is back when nothing could be further from the truth.

I think what trips people up in the neurodivergent vs. physically disabled discourse is that you can't treat disabilities the same way as you treat LGBTQ+ identities. The goal for LGBTQ+ identities if for us all to one day be equal to cishet+ people. Someones gender identity or sexuality or race will not make them inherently more privileged or oppressed eventually. But with illnesses it's different.
I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user. I am disabled, but someone who is paralyzed is less privileged than me even though we both use wheelchairs and are disabled. For example, if I reach an area that is inaccessible, I can stand up and go around or remove the obstacle. It is not as easy for someone who is a full time wheelchair user. But we are still both disabled. Someone who has only ADHD and no physical disabilities is more privileged than someone with physical disabilities. Both people are disabled. However if the building is burning down, one person can take the stairs and escape and one person has to wait for rescue. And for the foreseeable future, unless there comes a day that prosthetics and medicine become so advanced there are no longer any negative aspects of disability (pain, illness, mobility, mental state), this will be the case.
And instead of trying to burst into the paraplegic support group and whine at them and throw a fit that they aren't talking about ME, I use my privilege to advocate for more accessibility in my town and at my college campus. Not that they aren't able to, but being able to mask my disability has put me in sort of a medium between abled people and the disabled community. I've been able to help so I do.
I am physically disabled, so I consider myself part of the cripplepunk community. I can do this because people look at me and label me as a cripple. People don't look at a mentally ill/neurodivergent person and do that. There are other descriptors used for neurodivergents if you would like to reclaim one of them.
Also, I consider myself neurodivergent as well. Some of you don't consider that people can be physically disabled AND neurodivergent. The barriers I faced with my neurodivergence and the barriers I faced with my physical disability are worlds apart. Both are challenging, but my physical disability has been harder. Does that mean I should ignore my neurodivergence? Does that mean neurodivergents should no longer be supported? Of course not! But in many cases, especially in modern times, mental health has made a ton of progress but it's left us physically disabled peeps behind. So please stop talking over physically disabled and chronically ill people and derailing the little support we get for yourselves. You aren't a cripple and you don't need to be one to be a part of the larger disabled community. You don't need to be a cripple to get support. In our society it's the opposite. We get left behind, ignored, our lives ripped from us. And yea, neurodivergents have this happen to them too but please understand that our pain has continued while neurodivergence is becoming more accepted.
I was able to get on meds so easily. I was screened for depression at my school. There were problems with this of course but they actually tried to seek out depressed kids and help them (even if it caused issues). Yes it costs money. Yes it may be harder outside of the states (or easier idk). But the same shit happens to us cripples as well and our mobility devices cost THOUSANDS out of pocket while meds cost hundreds at the most. My psychiatrist gave me a Zoloft prescription my first appointment and my rheumatologist laughed at me for wanting a walker.
We are tired and we are mad. We have a right to be angry at the mistreatment we've suffered. It's incredibly insulting to dismiss that pain. It's what our doctors do to us, our parents, our friends, our communities. Stop tearing us down to push yourselves further forward. If you truly want to get rid of any division in our community, help bring us up to your level instead of throwing a tantrum about the meanie cripples not letting you take our word that doesn't even fit you. It's insulting to want a word so bad that would never be thrown at you in the first place. It's like a cis binary queer person crying that they can't use the word tranny for themselves.
Please try to understand our pain and educate yourselves about history and experiences outside of your own diagnosis. Don't assume we have it easier because you see us. Most people don't.

All of the people Knives keep around are societal outcasts (apart from the one person he knew before the fall who had accepted him as a plant) and that is definitely not an accident in storytelling. You see right??? Knives is a metaphor of the trauma that comes from being different than the norm. They all are those that understand the fear and righteous anger and need to act out of self preservation:
Domenique: half blind/gender nonconforming
Elendira: transwoman
Ninelives: dwarfism
Hoppered: physically disfigured & disabled
Legato: former sexworker (well not worker but the stigma is the same)
Zazie: literally changes between bodies with no regards for gender or ethnicity, nonhuman
Leonof: man has issues (holding on to his dead love)
Livio: Dissociative Identify Disorder
Rei-Dei: part of a people that are long gone
Chapel: paraplegic
Midvalley: saxplayer 😔

Daily update post:
Rockets continued to be fired into Israel from both the south (Hamas) and the north (Hezbollah). As of yesterday, 7,114 rockets have been fired into Israel, and the number of civilians being evacuated keeps increasing. Whole cities are being evacuated (for example, Sderot in the south and Kiryat Shmona in the north).
The British Prime Minister is currently in Israel, just a day after the American president had come and gone. Rishi Sunak has been asked to act on the BBC's refusal to refer to Hamas' massacre as terrorism.
I wrote about why for me (as for a lot of other Jews), the massacre is reminiscent of the cruel antisemitic violence of the Holocaust. Here's a reminder that there were Jews who survived the Nazis, but who didn't survive Hamas:
Tumblr media
Ruth Peretz, a 16 years old Cerebral Palsy patient and paraplegic, and her father Arik who took her to a music festival, because of her love for music, were considered missing. Yesterday, family and friends' hopes were extinguished. Today would have been Arik's bday.
Tumblr media
Someone please explain to me how murdering Ruth would liberate any Palestinian. Or how anyone can think about abled men killing a paralyzed teenage girl, and call them "militant" rather than "terrorist."
This is Aline. Her parents and brother were murdered. Yesterday, she was pronounced dead, too. Another entire family, completely gone.

In kibbutz Be'eri, they managed to clear enough rubble to recover another two bodies. I won't share the picture of the one foot sticking out from the ruins, I'll just tell you that this was the body of a young woman, she was found without any clothes on and with a metal wire wrapped around her ankle. Most likely she was restrained, beaten and raped, before she died. This is another part of why the number of dead keeps rising, they keep finding more bodies. Yet another is that some of the mortally injured succumb to their wounds.
On a personal note, the massacre has been sipping into my dreams (more like nightmares), and 12 days later, it's actually getting worse.
May their memories be a blessing.

Ok can I get a human Jake sully where the reader is Norms sister and they have this like tension but never act on it until one night
I CRAVE MORE HUMAN JAKE SULLY
I GOTCHU HUMAN JAKE X NORM’S SISTER SMUTTTT
MDNI
——
“Y/N, your shoe is untied,” your brother slyly remarks as he scurries past you, the cold air of the lab making you shudder.
“Norm,” you sigh and look down at your feet, both sneakers being tied perfectly, bunny ear style.
“Gotcha!” he snaps his fingers and smiles, turning around to face you. “Also, Jake, Trudy, and Grace are coming back soon,” he leans over and picks up a tube from a lab table, swirling it around and staring at it in marvel. But your mind immediately traveled to Jake.
Jake Sully is this new guy. He’s an ex marine. He’s in a wheelchair, a paraplegic. His mindset is different from all the scientists. He’s different. It’s not his disability, it’s not even the fact that he was a marine. It’s something else. He’s so, so attractive. His eyes and voice are intense. You always catch him looking at you from the corner of your eye. He’s always making sneaky conversations with you. He’s on your mind.
While you anxiously think about Jake, he sits with Grace in the back of Trudy’s aircraft, flying over the mountains of Pandora.
“Marine, we’re heading back to the lab. Norm and Y/N will be there,” Grace tells Jake, patting him on the shoulder. Jake looks up and nods, playing it cool. When Grace climbs up to the front to sit with Trudy, he plays with his fingers at the thought of seeing you.
To him, you’re off limits. His friend’s sister. Norm would flip if he found out about the way Jake lays in bed at night, thinking of you and touching himself, and how he peeks at your ass every time you bend over or turn around. But he can’t help himself. Jake loves the way your hair frames your face and the sound of your laughter. Your kind heart, and the fact that you’re beauty and brains. You’re off limits, but you’re perfect for him.
“When do you think they’ll be here?” you tilt your head and peer at the floor of the lab, thinking about Jake. Norm squints at his test tube.
“Like, 10 minutes?” he replies. Your brother is a know-it-all. He’s so nerdy. You cant hate him for it, he’s passionate about his work. And he’s happy.
“Oh,” you say, immediately heading towards the bathroom to make sure that you look good.
“I’m so excited for Trudy to be back,” he smiles as he writes down something on a piece of paper, setting the tube down. You chuckle in the doorway of the lab, holding the doorframe. You never understood how Norm pulled Trudy. They’re an adorable couple. She definitely wears the pants. He loves to follow her around like a lost puppy, bringing her gifts and compliments while she accepts them and pecks his cheek.
You sigh as you walk out, heading towards the ladies’ room. You enter it and switch the light on, shutting the door behind you. You shake your head when you look in the mirror. You wonder about Jake. You know you have chemistry with him. As much as you deny it, you really like each other. It’s almost like, you would be able to date him if Norm wasn’t your brother. Like that unspoken rule, not dating your friend’s sister, was getting in the way.
You dismiss that theory. You try to convince yourself that you and Jake can’t get together because your worlds are too different. He’s a paraplegic ex marine, and you’re a scientist. It wouldn’t make sense to be with him. He’s cold, anyways. His mannerisms and personality are too frigid for him to really want you. You’re a kind, loving girl. The contrast is just unmanageable.
Sure, there’s definitely a tension between you two. You notice him staring at you when you’re working and he catches you admiring his features whenever he’s busy with something else. But it would never work. Being with Jake Sully would never work for you, definitely not with Norm around.
You wipe the sad expression off of your face and move your hair around, trying to improve your appearance for a guy that isn’t yours. You walk away from the mirror, your small skirt flowing behind you as you exit the bathroom, making your way back to the lab.
Your brother notices your face when you walk in. It’s a sibling thing.
“What’s wrong?” Norm’s brows furrow and he puts down his pen.
“Nothing,” you reply as you sit down on a stool, resting your chin on your hand while your elbow sits on the table.
“We’re back!” Trudy’s voice rings from the back doorway, while Grace follows behind her, smiling. Norm’s face lights up and he rushes over to the door, greeting them. Jake’s silhouette hides behind Grace, and you have to peer over her to see him. You get up from your chair, Jake peering at your torso as you stand.
“Hi Grace! Ugh, you’ve been gone all day, it’s already dark outside,” you groan as you hug Grace. She’s like a mother figure to you. She embraces the hug warmly.
“Bunch of new samples today, right Sully?” Trudy sets down a wooden crate full of Petri dishes and containers, turning back to check on Jake.
“Yeah, of course,” he awkwardly nods, wheeling himself towards you. You pull away from Grace’s hug and she grabs the box. You turn to Jake, leaning on a lab table and putting a hand on your hip.
“How was it, Sully?” you smile. He chuckles and nubs the back of his neck.
“Boring, missed you,” he leans forward and playfully pats your hip twice, making your eyes widen. He notices your expression. “What? Norm isn’t looking, don’t worry about it,” he teases. Your brows furrow. He has never been this direct with you.
“God, stop playing,” you push his hand away, your cheeks turning red.
“I wanna show you something,” he assures you. “Tell everyone you’re going to sleep, then go to your room and wait for me,”
“Why?” your knees start to bend as you desperately want to get on his level. He pushes you back up.
“Go, I’ll come and knock soon,” he promises, patting your hip. You nod and walk away from him, towards your brother.
“Hey, think I’m gonna head to bed now,” you mutter softly and put your hand on Norm’s shoulder to get his attention. He whips his head around with raised eyebrows. “Always on your toes,” you chuckle and shake your head. Norm nods.
“Alright, good night,” he leans back in his chair to continue his conversation with Trudy.
“Good night, honey. Hope we didn’t keep you waiting too long. I know we came back late,” Grace smiles and holds her hands out, initiating another hug before you go off to sleep. You hug her and Jake smirks as your ass peeks out. You pull away and smile, waving as you exit the lab and start your short journey to your bedroom.
The walk there is anxious. Butterflies swarm your tummy. Is this it? Maybe it’s not. Maybe he wants to sit down with you and tell you to stop flirting with him, formally. Maybe he wants you to keep going. You’re practically jumping with anticipation. You know he knows which number your room is.
You rush towards the door of your bedroom, unlocking it, and leaving it that way for Jake. You hurry in. Thoughts flood your brain. You decide to get ready for him. You rush into your closet, picking out a new pair of lace panties and a nightgown. You eagerly grab them, choosing to put on a show for him. You crack the door of your room open just a little bit, so Jake knows to come right in. Then, you hop right into the shower.
You use a vanilla body wash, scrubbing yourself down. An unscented wash for the intimate areas, and a matching shampoo for the hair. You can’t wait for him to see you like this, all fresh and smooth, ready for him. When you leave the shower, the mirrors are fogged up and a vanilla aroma fills the air. You slide on your nightgown, debating on whether you should put the panties on or not. You decide to wear them, for modesty purposes.
Confidently, you open the bathroom door, shower steam flowing out. You immediately sense another presence in the room. Your eyes widen and your head jerks over to Jake, who is holding a bouquet of flowers and smirking, enjoying the view.
“Oh! Hi-“ you begin to get nervous. You don’t have a bra on. You’re standing in a flimsy nightgown and slutty panties in front of him.
“C’mere, brought you something,” he leans back in his wheelchair, gesturing at the flowers. But you’ve just noticed the door, which has now been shut, and locked.
“That’s so nice-“ you look down at your body, your nipples poking through your nightie, then back up at him. “Sorry, I just-“ you hesitate in nervousness.
“No, it’s good, I like looking at it,” he says. Your breath hitches. “Come here, Y/N,”
You walk over to him, eyeing the flowers in his hand. When you’re close to him, you reach out for them.
“May I?” you ask.
“They’re for you, go ahead,” he holds them out to you and you grab them from him, laughing and placing them on the dresser.
“Sit in my lap, Y/N,” his eyes grow stern and he pats his leg. Of course you give in to him. You get close and straddle him, making eye contact as you sit on him. Your clit rubs up against a firm part of his pants and you gasp.
“What.. what’s up?” you ask him, placing a hand on his cheek.
“You know what’s up. I need you,” his hands grab onto your waist and your eyes widen with his words.
“What do you mean?” you question, furrowing your brows.
“You know exactly what I mean. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t be half naked and in my lap right now,” his grip on your waist tightens and his eyes burn into yours.
“Oh- I-“ your cheeks turn red and your face gets hot. Jake doesn’t tolerate it, he just grabs your face and presses your lips against his. You hesitate at first, but then you kiss back. Your lips play with each other and your heart speeds up.
“Y/N, I love you. I love you so bad,” he pulls away from your lips and stares lovingly into your eyes. You’ve never seen him this vulnerable before. You bury your face into the crook in his neck and hug him, squeezing tight.
“Mm hmm, love you too,” you whine as you kiss his neck, grinding up against his growing cock over his pants.
“Fuck me then,” he rubs your head as you leave marks on him. You pull away and get off of Jake for a second.
“Ready?” you ask. He doesn’t know what you mean, but he smiles, assuring you that he is. You slowly take your nightgown off in front of him, arching your back as the fabric slides off of you. He fiddles with his pants, eagerly ripping them off as he watches your boobs.
“My god,” his eyes grow wide with admiration as he watches your body. You cant stop staring at his cock, throbbing and hard for you. You turn around and bend down, picking up his pants and underwear off of the ground while your ass is up in his face. He smacks it and you giggle, folding his clothes neatly and setting in on the dresser with the flowers and your nightgown. “So perfect, inside and out,” he remarks.
“Can I ride you?” you fiddle with the strings of your panties, pulling them down in front of him as you make perfect eye contact. Jake’s stuck in a trance, nodding yes to everything that you say, while he takes his shirt off.
You position yourself over him, completely naked. His heart moves fast and he holds your hips. You slowly sit down, gasping when the tip goes in. You moan and your legs tremble as you sink down further, taking him completely into your cunt. He grunts when you bottom out and your hips rest in his lap. You two stay like that for a second, catching your breaths and embracing each other, while his throbbing cock remains deep inside of you.
His fingertips dig into your hips as he moves them on his dick. You whimper into the crook of his neck and your pussy clenches around his girth. Jake pants and holds onto you tightly. He grinds your hips onto him at a slow pace, throwing his head back to absorb every second and sensation. His eyes clench shut in pleasure. An electric feeling pulses through your stomach and heat as you feel your orgasm approaching.
“Jake,” you whine.
“Hmmmm,” he lowly groans.
“I-“ you yelp as he speeds you up, grabbing your hips and snapping them into his, faster.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” he desperately pants as you bounce up and down on his cock. His pre cum squirts into you, brushing warmly on your cervix and making your back arch. He bares his teeth and picks his head up, watching your tits bounce and the way your cunt takes him so well.
Your mouth lies ajar and your eyes clench shut when you have your climax. You pulsate and squeeze his dick tightly and your eyes roll back into your skull. You grip his shoulders tightly, leaving small marks in the shapes of nails. Your nipples perk up and Jake watches them as he grips your hips the same way and releases himself inside of you.
You two sit like that for a second, coming down from your highs. Jake kisses your neck and breasts, praising you and whispering sweet words. You hold his head, his cock still resting inside of you.
“You okay?” you ask him, lifting yourself off of his dick.
“Yeah,” he exhales, and when his member leaves your heat, it makes a small “pap” sound that he smiles upon hearing.
“Come,” you climb onto the bed, exhausted from the sex. “Come lay down with me,” you pay the spot next to you and flop down. Jake tilts his head and wheels himself over, climbing to snuggle with you.

Can you share more about the ableism in warrior cats? I always hear it talked about but I haven't read it since I was a kid so I don't remember.
this is a complicated thing to discuss bc on some level the ableism in warrior cats has its roots in the sheer amount of value this cat society places on physical strength but here are the like. basic bullet points i guess
1. use of ableist slurs
the terms "cripple" and "lame" are used in the books, both of which are insults to the physically disabled, cripple being considered an active slur most physically disabled people agree ablebodied people shouldn't even say. i Have had one person defend this by pointing out that the characters who use the term cripple are using it As a slur: it's meant to be a depiction of jayfeather as a protagonist experiencing ableism
i countered this with pointing out that mentally disabled people do not have to worry about opening up a warrior cats book and having to read the pov character be called the r slur, nor do gay people have to worry about opening up a warrior cats book and having to see the pov be called a faggot or a queer. The issue is not the use of ableist slur itself, but instead the fact that it is the Only instance of a character being called an irl slur or curse word. i should not have to explain why it's not appropriate for books to contain slurs when they're not even allowed to say Fuck. if these were books where real life bigotry and bigoted terminology were used frequently and not only for physical disabilities, i would see no issue with jaypaw being called a cripple by two ableist jackasses
however even with that out of the way there's still the fact that disabled characters are referred to as Lame more than once, not by an ableist character, but by the Narration. that's not a character being a bigot, that's the Books being bigoted
2. disability as a plot device to serve abled characters
the most obvious instance of this is snowkit (who i often call a "walking hate crime" for this exact reason), but it's fairly consistent that disabled characters almost never solely exist for their own sake, but always to say something about the abled people around them or have an impact on those people
snowkit dies to traumatize his mother, his deafness being directly related to his death. jagged peak is made a paraplegic to demonstrate clear sky's cruelty to even his own family. briarlights paralysis is routinely shown through the lens of other people debating or discussing her worth and impact on her. cinderpelt loses movement in her leg both to emotionally impact fireheart and to be yet another person who's life has been impacted by tigerclaw. brightheart is permanently disfigured so that bluestars cruelty towards her can act as yet another step in her progression to madness, and so that firestars renaming of her can establish him as a more benevolent leader (sort of patching up his predecessors wrongdoings).
there are a few exceptions, crookedstar in particular is pretty good.
3. arc one exclusive: disability or disfigurement as a sign of menace
i generally say arc one is the best on ableism simply because it treats disability as a Fact that Will inevitably happen to all warriors (this is why basically Every elder is disabled). but there is one thing that. I think people forget? A Little?
Outside of elders, there are a decent number of arc one cats who are described as being disfigured or disabled outside of thunderclan
if i'm remembering correctly, these are crookedstar, brokenstar, deadfoot, and clawface. only two of these cats (crooked and dead) are intended to actually be Disabled (even though brokenstar has a SCI if you know how cat spines work), but all of them are meant to be visually disfigured, with brokenstar having an obviously deformed tail, and clawface having distinctive facial scarring
it's probably pretty easy to figure out why i'm bringing up broken and claw, since. they're both murderers. but here's something that's easy to miss:
crookedstar is rather consistently antagonistic in arc one and deadfoot is explicitly considered to be intimidating by fireheart. deadfoot is the least egregious, he is a deputy afterall so it makes sense fireheart is menaced by his presence, but crookedstar is very much like. he openly declares he intends to take over windclans old territory along with shadowclan. people tend to forget but riverclan is Mean in arc one, Crookedstar Included.
that's 4/4 of the non elderly disfigured characters in arc one who are meant to be somehow intimidating at best, and menacing, antagonistic, and evil at worst. not great numbers. btw the reason i'm not counting cinder and bright here is because those are previously abled characters who then Become disfigured and disabled, meanwhile these four are introduced as disfigured and/or disabled, which is a bit different from a meta perspective.
4. outside of arc one, a universal perspective that disabled characters cannot be warriors
now, this isn't really a Thing in arc one. there's only One character who is explicitly made to stop being a warrior because she's disabled, and even then it's not that she Couldn't be a warrior: her broken bone healed wrong and warrior duties would be constantly painful for her.
however after arc one there are very few New disabled characters at all, and all of them are medicine cats or elders. longtail is blinded and almost immediately retires (even though that doesn't seem super in character for him), jayfeather tries his best to be a warrior despite the complete and total uselessness of everyone around him but is eventually forced into medicine cat duties by god anyway, briarlight is genuinely just a medicine cat in all but name, and if you count shadowsight (which. honestly i don't think you should) he's also a medicine cat
i just. feel the need to point out that arc one specifically had brightheart get taught how to be a warrior by her abled boyfriend but somehow none of these cats could accommodate Themselves. I guess accommodations only exist if you're Half blind or have an abled boyfriend to save you from your own body

Across the Spider-verse is 10/10 in animation, story, voice acting, and soundtrack (MILD spoilers)
To all the people who “Spider-Man can’t be black!” in 2018, Imma need y’all to hold that L indefinitely. Due to the concept of the multiverse, Spider-Man is literally all races, creeds, and backgrounds and it’s canon. There’s Indian, Muslima, paraplegic, Latino, and 4 different black Spider-people. The movie is 2hrs and 20-ish minutes, so PLEASE don’t bring your toddler cuz their attention span is gonna plummet an hour in. The plot of this movie is for the people who saw the first movie, so it’s matured with the original audience. Miguel O’Hara wants to preserve the multiverse (saving billions of lives), meaning each Spider-person’s story has to play out the same (get bit by a spider, your uncle dies, police captain dies). Miles Morales was NEVER supposed to be Spider-man (remember his spider came from Universe 42). Miguel’s all like “you’re not supposed to be Spider-Man but since you ARE Spider-Man, your police captain dad needs to die to keep your story consistent with the rest of us.” Miles response is “Hol’ up, you want me to sit back and let my dad die? I know these deaths make us who we are, but if we have the power to save people, then we should do the responsible thing and save them.” Both Miguel and Miles think they’re doing the responsible thing (letting canon play out vs saving lives regardless of canon). Miguel is lawful evil, believing the needs of the many outweigh the few. Miles’s very existence disrupts Spider-man canon, but he IS Spider-Man, whether he was fated to be or not. Also, Miguel keeps saying that the Spot is the huge threat to the multiverse then spends 15 minutes chasing down Miles, diverting a good portion of his resources to capturing him. HELLO, I thought you said the Spot >> Miles so why are you focusing on one kid and not the multiverse-ending superbeing?

you know, in the abstract, i think there can, and have, been decent arguments for deontological morality. i don't quite find myself convinced by those arguments personally, but some of those arguments are actually decently well-constructed and coherent. Kant gets a lot of shit, but like, "I ought never to act except in such a way that I could also will that my maxim should become a universal law,” while a pretty flawed and incomplete concept, isn't terrible. like i can see the logic of it, and a community where that was the guiding principle everyone was attempting to follow would probably function at least somewhat adequately.
but like, in practice, outside of the context of philosophy wank, when i encounter deontological moral arguments in the wild, it's always the most mindless thought-terminating shit imaginable. like this:
Tumblr media
and to be clear this is extremely standard for libertarians, a vast number of them hold as their core deontological moral belief that it is never under any circumstances acceptable to have taxes, and while they may sometimes make arguments that hinge on the supposed utilitarian benefits of a libertarian ethos, this is mostly a show put on for outsiders. the bulk of libertarians and similar (ancaps, objectivists, etc) believe as this guy does that even in situations where following the libertarian ethos would lead to certain disaster, we are nonetheless bound to do so anyways. Because.
similarly from antiworksters- the whole thing hinges on the core deontological rule of "it is always bad to incentivize labor in any way whatsoever" and when you point out that if this were to be implimented on any kind of large scale, it would make it more likely that disabled people who require labor to care for them would be left to die in the absence of incentives to ensure that the labor to care for them is performed, instead of acting like a reasonable person and going "oh jeez! that's a massive oversight in our ethical framework, we should revise our framework to better account for that, perhaps jettison the 'never incentivize labor' rule since it's apparently deeply flawed" instead they either dodge the question or go "it doesn't matter if paraplegic people end up being left to die as a result of antiwork principles being implemented, the "never incentivize labor" rule can never be broken! Because."
and it's like. why not. like you guys realize you made these rules up. if following this moral code ends up bringing disaster or leaving disabled people to die you can just. not do that. no one is forcing you to follow this poorly thought out ethical code. quite the opposite in fact, since both anarcho-capitalism and anti-work anarchism are fringe ideologies at odds with how the vast majority of contemporary societies function.
and in both cases it's so obvious that the ideologies in question fundamentally hinge on a knee-jerk emotional reaction of not wanting to work/pay taxes, and then just deciding that actually, the very universe itself agrees with you that you should never ever have to work or pay taxes, and therefore the world should have to bend to your- sorry i mean the universe's will, even if society crumbles to dust as a result. fundamentally juvenile.

if you are short, but not a little person you have no right to be in conversations about dwarfism. shut the fuck up. you do not experience the violence and discrimination i experience as someone with dwarfism. you are an average sized person. ive been thrown down the fucking stairs by a drunk, average sized man, for the purpose of "dwarf throwing" (which by some is considered a FUCKING SPORT). and i never got justice for it. i am a fucking paraplegic, i have brain damage. we arent midgets we arent "just short" we arent a joke we are little people we are disabled people we are people. if little people are apart of your joke, you arent funny. you should honestly get thrown down the stairs like i did lmao. if you make fun of little peoples height and call it a "joke". you arent funny. why is it that my condition is a joke to all my friends? why is it that all they do is make fun of me for how tall i am, ignoring that i am literally disabled? i am 4'0, that doesnt mean ANYTHING on if im a person or not. i have achondroplasia and cleidocranial dysplasia. im not a fucking joke, the violence i experience isnt a damn joke and you should really stop dehumanizing little people.
