§ 3.235. Medianoche en París (Woody Allen, 2011)

Deslumbrante. Simplemente deslumbrante. Me ha parecido una genialidad, una absoluta genialidad. Si a una imaginación deslumbrante le aúnas una gran capacidad de trabajo, un conocimiento del medio y un equipo fabuloso de colaboradores, el resultado no puede ser más que óptimo.

Y este es el caso de esta comedia. Ligera, como todas las suyas, pero con muchísimo fondo. Tiene todo lo que se requiere para ser un gran éxito. Y más allá del éxito de público o crítica, estoy convencido que el tiempo tratará bien a esta obra.

Me ha gustado mucho Owen Wilson, consigue naturalidad y personalidad. Siempre le tenía como un actor cómico, pero de ese tipo de comedias de risa, no el planteamiento intelectual que pretende con esta obra. Su novia es Rachel McAdams, que funciona como frívola novia. Tiene un montón de colaboraciones mágicas: Kathy Bates como Gertrude Stein, Nina Arianda como Carol Bates; Thérèse Bourou-Rubinsztein como Alice B. Toklas; la esposa del expresidente de Francia Carla Bruni-Sarkozý como la guía histórica en el Museo Rodin; Adrien Brody como Salvador Dalí, Alison Pill como Zelda Fitzgerald; Kurt Fuller y Mimi Kennedy como los padres de la novia; Yves Heck como Cole Porter, Daniel Lundh como Juan Belmonte, y, sobre todo, Marion Cotillard como Adriana, verdaderamente fascinante en el papel.

Remi Margot - A laid-back member of the Preservers. Enhanced, with the ability to predict the future see possible outcomes because the future is not a linear path. They’re very touchy about that.

Maya and Lukas - Ten-year-old twins on the run from the DoA who save Fox’s life when he almost falls to his death. Enhanced, Maya is telekinetic and Lukas is telepathic.

Recordando los especiales de la revista Club Nintendo

Hola, estimado lectores, como saben varios videojugadores de la vieja escuela crecimos con la ya mítica revista de Club Nintendo, la cual significo la salvación para muchos de nosotros a la hora de trabarnos en algún videojuego. En este especial recordaremos algunas de las ediciones especiales de la revista. Pero antes debo advertirles, no será una nota corta, sin embargo, está llena de nostalgia y vivencias, las cuales seguramente los harán pasar un muy buen momento.

Así que los invitamos a abrir nuevamente ese baúl de los recuerdos junto a nosotros para recordar esa gran niñez y adolescencia de la que varios gozamos hace muchos años, como dato adicional la primera revista salió a la venta en diciembre de 1991 a un costo de 6,000 pesos. Ahora sí, es hora de continuar.

Desgraciadamente no pude adquirir todos los números, ya saben, los típicos problemas de los niños. Uno de los primeros números que adquirí fue la edición especial de Street Fighter II, la cual contenía mucha información del juego que estaba causando sensación en esos años.

“Esta Edición Especial era muy esperada. Toda la información contenida sobre los personajes es oficial de Capcom. Por ahí hay otras leyendas que nosotros no quisimos incluir porque no son las originales.

Sobre las Estrategias y Combos encontrarás que nunca antes se han publicado; son estrategias que a nosotros nos han dado resultado al jugarlo. De hecho grabamos el juego y lo fotografiamos, lo cual da mucha realidad a nuestras fotos pues no usamos pausa para interrumpir el juego.”

Sin duda una de las ediciones que ayudaron a varios a ganarle a esas personas que se la vivían en las maquinitas o en sus consolas todo el día. Algo sin duda digno de destacar es que explicaba muy bien el cómo poderte convertir en un gran jugador de SF2, al saber cómo cancelar o contratacar básicamente todos los movimientos de tu rival.

Edición Especial de Street Fighter II

Pude conseguir el especial de Arte, el cual era un tesoro en esos días, debido a que no era muy usual el Internet y si alguien tenía, bajabas a una velocidad las cosas que fácilmente podías ir a terminar Mario Bros 3 y apenas se descargaba una imagen, por lo que tener varias en un mismo medio era simplemente genial. La revista contiene arte de Mario, Yoshi, Wario, Puzz Fighter II, Darkstalkers, entre otros videojuegos.

Sin duda algo que me gustaba era la sinceridad con la que escribían, a continuación, un pequeño fragmento de lo que escribieron en el editorial.

“¿Por qué hacer un número especial que hable y muestre el arte de los videojuegos? Bueno, uno de los primeros motivos era que teníamos que trabajar un poco menos que para una revista normal (¡y resultó todo lo contrario!)”

Edición Especial Arte

Con cada edición que llegaba de la revista había nuevos trucos y era muy difícil para varios recordar en que edición se encontraban ciertos passwords, pero para la salvación de varios llego una nueva edición de trucos, pero esta vez bautizada como “Enciclopedia” y que contenía más de 1500 códigos y trucos para los títulos de SNES, Game Boy y N64.

“Este especial que tienes entre tus manos no es más que el resultado de más de 6 años de trabajo aquí en Club Nintendo. En él podrás encontrar trucos para más de 350 juegos de SNES, GB y N64. Prácticamente podríamos decir que están todos los trucos para los juegos que han salido para estos sistemas, es por eso que consideramos a éste un verdadero documento de consulta y colección”

Tal como pudieron leer la edición tiene muchísimos trucos y me fue muy útil en su tiempo, sí, antes no todo se encontraba a dos clics y los trucos corrían de boca en boca, aunque también gracias a eso surgieron varias leyendas urbanas.

Edición Especial Trucos (Enciclopedia)

Después vino el auge de Pokémon y ya lo veíamos hasta en la sopa y por supuesto que Club Nintendo no se podía quedar sin lanzar alguna edición especial de los monstruos de bolsillo. Sin embargo, en este caso fueron dos ediciones especiales dedicadas enteramente a la historia, juegos, curiosidades, tips, trucos y más, referentes al mundo de Pokémon.

Un detalle del primer especial fue que se escribió acerca de Pocket Monster Stadium, la versión japonesa de lo que conoceríamos aquí como Pokémon Stadium, a continuación, un fragmento de la nota.

“Pokémon Stadium causó sensación entre todos los fans japoneses de Pokémon. Nosotros hablamos muy poco sobre este juego pues su llegada a América era bastante incierta, sin embargo, tiempo después nos enteramos con tristeza-agrado del anuncio de Nintendo de América, que fue algo así como: “…en Japón acaba de salir Pokémon Stadium 2 y en este momento es uno de los juegos más populares del N64. Definitivamente NO traeremos a América Pokémon Stadium…”(tristeza)” …¡pero sí traeremos Pokémon Stadium 2, bajo el nombre de Pokémon Stadium! (agrado).”

Aquí había información sobre la historia del juego, Pokémon Pinball, lista de pokémon, las ediciones rojo y azul, Pokémon Snap, Pokémon en Japón, curiosidades y más.

Primer Edición Especial Pokémon

En la segunda edición especial de Pokémon se escribió acerca de Pokémon Yellow, las ediciones Gold y Silver, Pokémon trading card, Pokémon Puzzle League, Pokémon Puzzle Challenge y se realizó un análisis de Pokémon Pikachu GS2, un tipo Tamagochi, pero de Pikachu y con un sistema de ahorro de energía.

Pero sin duda alguna los dos números especiales de Pokémon hicieron muy feliz a los fanáticos de la franquicia de ese entonces.

Segunda Edición Especial Pokémon

Si eras un lector asiduo de la revista, sabias de antemano que las ediciones especiales se daban a conocer antes de que llegarán al puesto de revistas, y debías ahorrar para la edición normal y la especial. Pero había ocasiones en las que algunas ediciones no llegaban a ciertos puestos de revistas y debías ir buscándola de puesto en puesto hasta encontrarla.

Y por desgracia éste fue el caso de la edición especial de Zelda, la cual ya sabía que llegaría, pero no la había visto en el puesto donde solía comprarla, pero por suerte una semana después en un puesto que estaba antes de llegar a mi trabajo la encontré, medio escondida, pero ahí estaba y solamente había dos, por desgracia no tenía dinero de sobra para comprar una extra.

Ahora sí, después de un poco de historia, la “The Legend of Zelda Edicion Especial” contiene aparte de los ya famosos posters, muchas guías y trucos para varios videojuegos de la saga como TLoZ A link to the past, TLoZ Oracle of Seasons, TLoZ Oracle od Ages y los dos juegos de Nintendo 64, TLoZ Ocarina of Time y TLoZ Majora´s Mask.

Para finalizar con esta revista, les escribo un pequeño fragmento.

“Esta edición especial está dedicada para todas las almas aventureras que toman los retos con sabiduría y paciencia. Para gente como tú, que has aprendido el valor de la amistad y que gracias a ti puede existir un club tan amplio, sin discriminación y abierto para todos los que quieran colaborar en él como el nuestro.”

The Legend of Zelda Edicion Especial

El siguiente número especial es bastante inusual y comienzo con un pequeño fragmento del editorial.

“En tus manos tienes lo que te debíamos: otra edición especial de Club Nintendo. La mereces más que nadie. ¿Por qué Resident Evil? Desde hace mucho tiempo lo teníamos planeado. Y es que Resident Evil es una serie que cuenta con muchísimos seguidores, de eso podemos estar seguros, además de que en este año se cumplen 10 años de su aparición.”

La peculiaridad de esta edición especial es que fue la primera que vi que tuvo dos portadas diferentes, aunque el contenido fue igual para ambas, pudimos escoger entre la primera portada de Leon Scott Kennedy.

La segunda portada es de un zombi, las dos ediciones contienen información de las películas, una galería, RE Profiles, El control de las celebridades, entre otras curiosidades, además de la revisión de todos los juegos de Resident Evil que había en ese entonces. Sin duda, otro tesoro para los fanáticos de RE.

Sin duda uno de los juegos favoritos de muchos fans de Nintendo ha sido Super Smash Bros., un videojuego que realizó el sueño de muchos al reunir a varios personajes de la compañía en un sólo título. Y por supuesto que hubo una edición especial dedicada a este gran videojuego que en la actualidad sigue jugándose.

“Bienvenidos una vez más a otra edición especial de Club Nintendo. Para este año hemos elaborado una revista dedicada en su totalidad a la serie de Super Smash Bros. Aprovechando el lanzamiento de su última entrega “Brawl” (hasta el momento). Sin duda, un juego que ha dado varias horas de entretenimiento y diversión en muchas casas alrededor del mundo”

Tal como pudieron leer, la edición especial contiene mucha información de Smash como tips, profiles, top 10, en el cual ¿adivinen quien gano? Pero seguramente los fanáticos de Smash amaron esta edición que salió en el año 2008.

Edición Especial Super Smash Bros.

El personaje más icónico de Nintendo es sin duda el personaje que ya tuvo varios trabajos y que nunca vimos arreglando una tubería y que después se dijo que no era ese su oficio y tiempo después afirmaron que siempre sí, así es, me refiero a Mario, quien también tuvo un número especial y es el último del que escribo.

“El héroe más famoso de Nintendo creado por Shigeru Miyamoto tienen una edición especial de Club Nintendo. Así es, Mario Bros. y sus amigos aparecen en las páginas de nuestro número especial del 2007. Aquí encontrarás el arte de los juegos de las series de Mario que han aparecido en los sistemas Game Boy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS y Wii. Verás ilustraciones de todo tipo en las páginas de este especial de arte. Son 40 juegos los que estamos presentando.”

La revista tal como pudieron leer en el editorial contiene mucho arte referente al plomero y sus juegos como Dr. Mario, Game & Watch Gallery, Mario Golf advance Tour, Mario Power Tennis Power Tour, Luigi´s Mansion, la saga de Mario Party, Super Mario Strikers, Super Princess Peach y varios juegos referentes a Mario y sus amigos. Simplemente una joya para los fanáticos de Mario.

Edición Especial Arte de Mario

Este especial ha llegado a su fin, Club Nintendo fue sin duda una revista que marco la infancia y adolescencia de varios de nosotros y aunque no pude conseguir todas las revistas, sí tuve la oportunidad de comprar las que me interesaron es su tiempo.

Y aunque llevo años sin comprar la revista, guardo estos números especiales como un tesoro, debido a que me recuerdan una gran época que viví con el auge los videojuegos en México, una época que sin duda con cada nueva consola que llegaba, nos sorprendía por su calidad de juegos y exclusivas. Sin duda para mí una gran época para vivir.

Last Month’s Goals

Continue filling the gaps in my Mandarin vocabulary I’ve noticed since Little Linguist’s arrival. // I found a really cool way to do this using LingQ and Memrise. I shared how to do it in a video as a part of my review.

Read one more language related book. // I finished that Spanish Grammar book – yay! Getting through all the rules about the subjunctive, the difference between para and por, the differences between ser and estar, and verb use exceptions was brain melting.

Keep playing Zelda Ocarina of Time in Mandarin Chinese. // Nope.

Stay ahead reading my language reading challenge books. // Sort of. I kind of did that thing again where I am in the middle of 20+ books because I’m weird like that.

Keep working through my YouTube Queue. // Yes! For the record, since someone asked last month, my YouTube Queue are all the ‘watch later’ videos that I saved. They range from Steve Kaufman’s updates on his 90 day Korean challenge to lessons from RussianPod101 to the Easy Languages series for Spanish, Croatian, and Russian. I currently have more than 700 videos in this queue. At one point I had it down to 400, but everyone just keeps putting out such great language learning content!

Keep reading my other Pooh Bear book in Chinese // I did, but my pace slowed down quite a bit. I only got through a few pages per week.

Add words from Chinese readings into my Memrise Chinese deck. // Yes! Now I just need to start studying the deck. Ha.

Have something I’m reading that’s in French or Spanish. // I am still working through the books from last month, so as long as I make sure I spend time reading, this is an easy one.

Do the last 15 Pimsleur Chinese V Lessons. // Yes! I’ve officially finished all five Pimsleur Chinese courses.

This Month’s Goals

Continue filling the gaps in my Mandarin vocabulary I’ve noticed since Little Linguist’s arrival. // As long as I’m still speaking to Little Linguist in Chinese, this one is here to stay. And it will always be a priority.

Read one more language related book. // I have some ideas what this might be, but haven’t firmly decided yet.

Transcribe the dialogues from Zelda Ocarina of Time in Mandarin Chinese that I currently have saved. // Since I probably won’t play this game this month, I can, at the very least, transcribe what I’ve already saved.

Once again get ahead reading my language reading challenge books. // Because I like being on top of things.

Keep working through my YouTube Queue. // At least one video for every day of the month. Some are as short as 30 seconds. I can manage this.

Keep reading my other Pooh Bear book in Chinese // As much as I love Pooh Bear, I’m kind of tired of it and want to work on something different. I started reading Hunger Games in Chinese with LingQ and I’d like to focus my attention on this, but I can’t when I feel guilty for not having finished this book.

Keep adding words from Chinese readings into my Memrise Chinese deck AND THEN STUDY THEM. // It’s great that I’ve been making all these lovely flashcards in Memrise, but it’s kind of silly that I haven’t started studying them. So, there’s an obvious next step for me.

Have something I’m reading that’s in French or Spanish. // I am still working through the books from last month, so as long as I make sure I spend time reading, this is an easy one. For the record, The Name of the Wind is really long, so I hope you don’t get bored with the fact I’m probably going to take months to read it.

Start to work through all those podcasts taking space on my phone. // This includes Melnyk’s, ChineseClass101, Slow Chinese, and a few other podcasts that I’ve been waiting to get to while I work through Pimsleur.

The Biggest Lesson I Am Taking Away from This Month

Studying with a baby can be fun. I get to practice speaking by reading to him out loud in the different languages I’m learning. It’s interesting to see which languages he doesn’t like the sound of (or maybe just my accent) and which he does.

The performance aspect of it also adds an interesting dynamic to when I just read aloud on my own. Finding the time to learn a language with a little one can be tough – they need attention (and deserve it!) so finding the time to focus for long periods has been pushed back to after bedtime (if I still have the energy for it). It’s forced me to be pretty creative with how I study and try out things that I wouldn’t have before he joined us.

There are some things I miss about how I learnt before, but I wouldn’t change any of it. Honestly.
