Read books that fill you with wonder and rage and magic, absolutely cram your mouth full of inky words, do not rest until you have slowly rotted down and turned into a story yourself.

Reasons To Keep A Writer In Your Home
• They know weird facts
• They're low maintenance because all they do is eat and write
• Great for midnight chats because they don't sleep
• If they have to edit they will procrastinate by cleaning your whole house

@PaperFury
why writing is hard
- our characters disagreed with the plot outline
- one of them just left
- secondary character is now more interesting than main character
- they saw the torture you have lined up for the finale and they're filing complaints
- someone is yelling; probably you

⁉️QOTD: If you could choose 3 characters to be in your found family who would you choose?
Today I’m excited to participate in the Bookstagram & Creative Tour for Church of Thieves by I.Q. Malcolm hosted by MTMC Tours.
When a priestess discovers a dark secret…she’s murdered to keep it that way. Church of Thieves is a fast-paced New Adult Fantasy published on May 16th, 2023 from Lost Umbrella Publishing.
Quotes that I just love:
"If death was but a common tax, an unexpected loss, then murder was a theft which robbed you of everything you held dear and basked in taunting your anguish."
"As my master says, it is better to ask ignorant questions and be a fool for minutes than to keep it to yourself and remain a fool forever."
Mini Review:
I will be honest: I am still reading Church of Thieves and because of that I will review what I have read so far. I will do a fuller review once I finish the book. Church of Thieves opens up with Mother Sienna's death, which just ends up opening a can of worms and sets the motions for what is to come.
Tumblr media
IQ Malcom does a fantastic job with making us the reader feel the pain of the characters and have us questioning why all this is all happening to them.
Tumblr media
Church of Thieves is a fast-paced read, which I really appreciate since I have been having the worst time focusing lately due to my ADHD. I am looking forward to learning more about this world and the fingers of the church. As of now, I just landed on a oh crap moment and I need to go pick up my book to find out what is going to happen next since I had to put my book down at 3 AM this morning to go to sleep.

13 65 and 74 please :D
Thank you friend! Sorry it's taken a bit to respond!
13 (what’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?)
I really like my "show don't tell" because once I figured out what it actually means, the quality of my writing SKYROCKETED, especially with writing emotions. I really try to pay attention to filter words (felt, saw) and try use them deliberately instead of accidentally, which is one really big part of show don't tell.
"show don't tell" encompasses SO many different little writing tips I've seen, and I don't know that everyone giving those tips realise, which I actually think is SO cool (but also why people are so confused by show don't tell)
65 (Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project)
I'm so looking forward to writing the scene where my PoV character finds out that the person she rescued from a prisoner of war camp is not, in fact, a soldier from her side of the war. It's a little intimidating too though since it's a pretty important reveal (not a plot twist, just... important lol) and I want it to be GREAT
For fanfics, I'm really looking forward to a wee!Scott Tracy, Jeff and Lucille fic I originally planned for pride! It's gonna be cute, and also a little step out of my comfort zone! (idk how to write children, so we shall see lol)
74 (You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?)
I do this thing where I will use the physical space on the page/screen to give rhythm to my writing. I think the first time I saw something like it was by @paperfury in her novel A Thousand Perfect Notes and I loved the effect it had, I really love incorporating it into my writing.
HOWEVER, if that's not there, the em dashes, and the adjectives in threes will probably also give a good indication it's me haha!

hey arden, i hope you don’t mind me asking this! i’m autistic, and my family has never really been fully accepting or tried to accommodate me. to give an example they have the same expectations for me as they do for non autistic people, especially when it comes to social interactions, and a few minutes ago i heard them talking about how i’m “not normal” and i “need to accept that and understand that.” (which i have lol 🙄) basically i just have the autism equivalent of internalized homophobia and i think it would probably help me accept myself if i knew more about autism because basically the only think i know about it is how to mask. i was wondering if you know of any books or something like that where people talk about their experiences being autistic? i really loved your letter btw. it’s been a while since i read it but i think about it sometimes!!
hey anon! i definitely don't mind receiving questions about autism, ever, and i think the best thing i've ever done with the tiny platform i amassed on tumblr was provide some semblance of support to other autistic people who have enjoyed my writing/asked for advice. maybe that's dramatic. i don't know! i'm sorry for the late answer in any case.
i'm also sorry to hear about how your family treats you. i'll be honest and say that off the top of my head i can't think of a book where people talk about their experiences being autistic. however abed nadir from community's depiction as autistic is one of the best i've ever seen (it's how the creator found out he was autistic) & the kiss quotient by helen hoang is lots of fun if you like steamy romances.
my best recommendation is to look for other autistic people on the internet and read about their experiences/stories. when i was younger it was really comforting to know that paperfury, my favourite book blogger, was also autistic. you have to find autistic people to admire and read about and know, because you'd never consider them abnormal! you'd never consider me abnormal (i hope) so how can you be?
there is nothing wrong with being autistic. you are not abnormal! sending lots of love & hoping this helps.

Mid Year Freak Out Tag (2022)
Mid Year Freak Out Tag (2022)
Hi everyone! It’s been ages since I’ve done a book tag, my last one was just before Christmas last year, so I thought it was about time to do another one and I saw Cait @ PaperFury’s responses to this tag earlier today and figured it had been a couple of years since I last did it, so it might be fun to do it again! We’re a little past mid-year, but hey, the first year I did this, I did it in…
