HERE I AM I WATCHED THE FINALE
OKAY FIRST OF ALL IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD AND ACKNOWLEDGED/BROUGHT BACK A LOT OF THINGS I HAD NOT VERY HIGH HOPES FOR
but i gotta be honest, the whole season did. it was fun and genuinely hilarious, while also acknowledging (maybe not doing something with it yet, but we have a whole other season already under go) some plot points like colin dreaming about his childhood with lazlo
THIS FINALE THOUGH
i honestly honestly honestly have to say, i would not have changed a single thing from it. it was INSPIRED. i want to talk about the theme of this season, the vampires are assholes and they will never be nice to each other, but they are a FAMILY and they care about each other so deeply
first of all we have the morrigan manor trap, which i enjoyed so much, and although the season did a great job at building up to this with a hundred little moments in the previous eps, i was still literally shook at seeing the vampires face the music. like wow the guide is really telling them off for how they treat her and guillermo. like, i felt it. and nadja and lazlo are like ok this could have been a conversation but fine heres some footage of us being nice about u behind your back, AND THATS SO LOVELY LIKE - MY DEAR WE ARE FUCKED UP CREATURES OF THE NIGHT WELL NEVER TELL YOU TO YOUR FACE THAT YOURE IMPORTANT TO US
and its like. this season does a lot to put all the previous seasons into perspective. i cant even begin to speak about nandor and his aversion to turning guillermo. like, CHRIST
anyway the moment where nandor finds out was SO fucking delicious i love you mr de laurentiis i am completely in love with you going insane going insane also like ive seen some DISAPPOINTMENT over this finale and im ???? speechless is it that they didnt kiss or fuck? NANDOR KNOWS GUILLERMO BETTER THAN HE KNOWS HIMSELF HE KNEW HE COULDNT BEAR KILLING HE KNEW HE WASNT READY AND WANNA BET HE ALSO KEPT HIS DISTANCE ALL THESE YEARS BECAUSE HE KNEW THAT WOULD ADD TO GUILLERMO WANTING TO BE WITH HIM FOREVER BUT HES TOO CODEPENDENT TO LET HIM GO WHAT!!! THIS SHIT IS DELICIOUS
LET THEM COOK
but where was i ah yes nandor finding out nandor staking out panera bread and talking to some rando about guillermo and nandor going to his mothers (vampire killer! so its like dangerous for him lbr) place once he found it within himself to let go of the humiliation and prioritize his feelings for guillermo. let that sink in. he didnt want to find him not really. otherwise he would have threatened his mom weeks ago. nandor actually forgiving guillermo and its just like that. because he loves him too much. nandor doing the gayest most romantically and sexually charged shit in the world to prove to guillermo he actually has forgiven him. nandor bringing guillermo home. and saying he will be living with us AS AN EQUAL
nandor bringing him blood. and while we are on this topic, NANDOR WHO HAS THE IQ OF A RUSSIAN TOILET KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT GUILLERMOS PROBLEM WITH HIS TURNING WAS AND HOW TO FIX IT. AND HE DID. IMMEDIATELY. WHILE LAZLO STRUGGLED FOR WEEKS. NANDOR KNEW INSTANTLY. this episode had such biiig caretaker nandor energy and i fucking gobble that shit up. he pays so much attention to guillermo and he is so warm and loving to him whenever hes not catching himself…… i think im gonna go cry
nandor looking at guillermo with barely repressed lust as guillermo shows off his new vampiric powers and is taken by a frenzy to just go and do some shit. nandor lurking in the shadows listening to guillermos confession about not being able to kill, and looking so broken up about it, and wanting to fix things immediately for guillermo (but he cant, and btw im glad they brought back the lamp even if it was just to say you dumbass, you are out of wishes, like maybe that was a disappointment to some people but im sort of glad they made nandor use up all his wishes because the whole ceremony bit was sooooooooooooo thoughtful and soooo warm on nandors part). he went and staged the whole place and orchestrated the whole thing just so guillermo could speak from the heart and say he made a mistake. that is insanely loving of him
and btw idk anything about the lore of vampiric lineage BUT! tbh i do think this is such a cool loophole. like when guillermo reverted, time for his human form had passed. which means if any vampire who has lived, idk, more than 130 years had the same thing happen to them, they would obviously turn to dust. of course they would die! but guillermo had this happen only a few months ago so hes good! and the vampirism is reverted! and he has the time and knowledge now to think long and hard if he still wants it
to be honest (not to be a blorke about nandermo) i do believe that nandor and guillermo will get into it next season and the subsequent conflict will be that guillermo cannot be a vampire so he will age and die one day, but i think since nandor is so caring and “acts of service” in this last episode, maybe the solution they find is they decide nandor will turn guillermo eventually, and then bring him blood without guillermo having to hunt and kill (he could also like rob blood banks or drink from people without draining them)
anyway how cool is it that guillermo turned out to be so similar to louis (interview with the vampire, the very movie that got him to want to be a vampire), with the same conflict, except he did get a do over thanks to nandor ❤️
one last thing before i go that i didnt mention NANDOR TYING GUILLERMOS CAPE SO LOVINGLY AND WITH SUCH ATTENTION WITH SUCH REVERENCE GOD I KNOW WE’RE IN FOR A TREAT NEXT SEASON. AND NANDOR FUCKING STAKING DEREK. DO YOU WANT ME TO DO IT. I DONT KNOW. I DO *STAKE *. LIKE WHAT. THAT WAS SO INSANELY HOT TO ME GOODBYE FOREVER AND SORRY FOR THE LONGASS POST

Earning Nadja’s Trust: A WWDITS Meta
So I realized that Nadja doesn’t get the same treatment of fan analysis as say Nandor and Guillermo and I wanted to make my own contribution. I was driven to write “Earning Nadja’s Trust” because as we heard Laszlo tell baby Colin in 4.03, he learned to trust others again through his relationship with Nadja. I found that statement to be interesting because, of all the Staten Island roommates, she’s the most mistrustful of others, and even seems to still not completely trust Guillermo in the way Nandor and Laszlo have grown to trust him. If 4.03 is any indication, she sure regards familiars as below her at best and duplicitous at worst, has no respect for werewolves and her thoughts on witches need no elaboration. It is still not 100% clear the extent to which she regards the Guide either at this point.
We have seen that even in all her bouts of fury she deeply loves Laszlo and more or less fell in love with him at first sight and that she also cares about Nandor and sees him as part of her makeshift family. Even for all her issues with Colin Robinson, she was also saddened by the first incarnation’s death and was excited to meet the rebirthed one, even in her constant mistaking him for a raccoon.
Guillermo however, continues to be the outlier. Sure she does not talk down to him the way she did in the beginning of the series, but if their interaction where he demands to be the night club accountant is any indication, quite a bit of coldness still remains between them even after a year of being in London. However, I think it’s safe to say that Nadja spent so much time with the WWVC that Guillermo was barely needed.
So why is she still so as frosty as she is with Guillermo where her husband has grown to respect him and Nandor shows more affection?
Based on what we know of the respective backstories of Nadja and Guillermo, I believe that Nadja’s continued mistrust of Guillermo stems from that fact that, subconsciously or otherwise, she sees parts of herself in Guillermo.
But wait wouldn’t she then be more trusting of him?
First let’s break down the broad strokes of what Nadja and Guillermo have in common.
1. While Laszlo and Nandor were both born into lives of social (and to an extent economic) privilege, neither Nadja nor Guillermo were born into lives that would grant them those same social privileges and were outsiders.
We know Nadja was born into abject poverty some time in the sixteenth century in Greece. Not only was she born into poverty, but she’s also Romani, a European ethnic minority group that were (and continue to be) regarded as un-Godly; as more Romani people fell under Ottoman rule, they were considered the bottom of the social pyramid (no wonder her village fell into the path of Nandor the Relentless’s conquests over two centuries before her birth!)
In her interviews she even describes being mistreated because of her background and likely had to try to survive on her own at times with her sixteen other siblings dying and her mother getting eaten by a bear. When she was by the water and was turned by Baron Afanas, she was, for the first time in her existence, not powerless as she had been made to feel. (More will be elaborated on this in point 2)
Guillermo is a Mexican-American queer man who grew up with a single working mom being the most present. While we do not know of his father, he did refer to “parents” in 3.04 so imagine at some point his father was in the picture. Even if he wasn’t living in poverty like Nadja was, the small apartment where his Mom lives and the fact that he had to get a job at Panera Bread at 18-19 indicates that he might have been AT MOST on the cusp of lower-middle or high-lower class (and as anyone in the US knows, the stability of an American middle class has continued shrinking since the eighties.) His Mom, if 2.10 is any indication does not speak English with the same fluency he does (she might understand enough that she was able to express to the camera crew that she was happy to have Memo home; there are plenty of people who can understand other languages better than they can speak in those same languages so it’s completely possible that there’s that discrepancy in her English language skills) which likely indicates that she immigrated to the United States with her at some point in her life and raised Guillermo in the Bronx. As Guillermo reveals in 4.01 he was on his own for quite a bit of his childhood and probably felt some sort of isolation growing up queer and Catholic too. Even in being a familiar he is still kept at a distance and is very much the de facto odd one out in the household for the first ten years. That starts to change when he accidentally kills the Baron and later sees the ancestry report.
2. Both characters seek/use power as a means to command respect from others.
When Nadja joins the VC she ends up being the ruthless one, going so far as to rip out the heart of the leader of a rebellious vampire, forcing the rest of the coven to submit. She is even talked into showing mercy at times by Nandor in the chamber of judgment, while she doles out the more severe consequences. Finally when she returns to Staten Island, she very much approaches the night club as an inevitability despite The Guide’s protests and basically has to march over to get Richie Suck to perform at her club, showing that she has does not take no for an answer. While running a club is very different from bureaucracy, its still a means by which Nadja is able to have control. Her quest for power stems from a desire to give herself control in her afterlife as she was subjected to the whims of others when she was a human. Vampirism, for Nadja is empowerment and liberation; having visible high status in the vampire community strengthens that empowerment and perhaps even feeds her need to have control.
As Guillermo comes into his own as a slayer, his confidence grows and by season three is more willing to step outside the boundaries of being a familiar as he becomes the bodyguard. His full defiance of those boundaries culminates in his fight with Nandor in 3.10 where, for the first time, any of the vampires fully recognize that Guillermo isn’t the same meek nineteen year old who started as a familiar, but a force to be reckoned with. He still uses that power in season four to help Nandor in wish logistics and in putting his foot down to Nadja that he’ll only help if she gives him what he wants (the accountant job).
So with all that in mind, with them having a shared history of coming out higher than their humble origins, why hasn’t Nadja “warmed up to” Guillermo as the others have?
I believe the answer to this question lies partly in 4.03 as revealed by how Nadja saw the relationship between Richie Suck and Dr. Tom.
She already has a low opinion of familiars to begin with, but seeing the abusive dynamic between those guys probably won’t improve that opinion. One can argue that even if Nadja doesn’t see Guillermo as a familiar in name, she still looks down on him all the same. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if she believes the four way hypnosis is the only reason he hasn’t killed any of the coven yet (assuming she knows of neither the fight nor the hypnosis immunity) and that she would trust him less if that hypnosis hadn’t been performed. Given her propensity to use murder in her anger or even threaten it, I think that (at least subconsciously) she knows if she were in Guillermo’s position she would not hesitate to retaliate against the people who hurt her.
This part goes more into speculation territory but I wouldn’t be shocked if one of the first things Nadja did as a vampire was go after the people who wronged her when she was human. And honestly, I don’t blame her.
While Guillermo was lucky to still have a loving mother in his life, Nadja- as far as we know canonically- was mistreated and lost many people close to her when she was a human. Being human for Nadja was all about surviving, making it to the next day. Ironically enough it’s as a vampire that she’s been able to live and enjoy life. And that little familiar her dear friend has grown oddly attached to now has the capacity to kill her and her coven in an instant? My girl will not let anything get in the way of destroying everything she loves again, let alone threaten her power and security. Honestly, I’d say from Nadja’s point of view I can absolutely see how she’ll probably be the last of the coven to fully embrace Guillermo as part of the family.
To fully, finally earn that trust, she would need to be proven that Guillermo is nothing like Dr. Tom and that he actually cares about Nandor beyond wanting to be made into a vampire. In addition, she would need to understand that Guillermo was always going to protect them without the hypnosis. While her finding out about his hypnosis immunity could spell trouble, her having confirmation that Guillermo would never hurt them regardless would also allow her to feel more inclined to fully see him as one of the team.
That is not to say I think Guillermo has to prove himself, he doesn’t have to prove shit to anyone and he clearly doesn’t care about doing that so much anymore.
What I am saying is that they would need to be put in a specific situation/circumstances that would make her reconsider any remaining mistrust she has in him. Clearly being in London didn’t do that. In fact it sounds like they more or less avoided each other in London if she spent the majority of her time in a room with the WWVC, likely leaving Guillermo plenty of chances to go off on his own once it was clear that Nadja wasn’t in any danger.
For what that change might look like, I’m going into some speculation/theorizing territory here for the season so DO NOT TAKE THIS AS SOMETHING THAT WILL HAPPEN. This is just a possible scenario I could see playing out in Nadja and Guillermo’s relationship.
THE ONE TIME NADJA SHOWED GENUINE INTEREST IN GUILLERMO AS A PERSON
There is one notable instance where Nadja seemed to genuinely show interest in Guillermo as a person. In 3.04 when she and Laszlo awkwardly attempt to engage in a conversation with him it starts out feeling forced (which it is) until Laszlo asks if his interests involve the “fairer sex.” While her asking if he has a “chubby little girlfriend” was still rather demeaning, the way in which she asked displayed genuine interest on her end. When Laszlo brought up “maybe a boyfriend” she, along with Laszlo and Colin are genuinely intrigued and actually wants to know about his private life, much to his chagrin.
If the episode titles are anything to go by, it seems like the vampires will meet Freddie at some point, and you can’t tell me Nadja won’t suddenly want to know EVERYTHING that has been going on with that (likely after yelling “You had a boyfriend in London this whole time and never told me?!?! I’ll fucking kill you!!!” for about a few hours). And if the Freddie being a troublemaker metas are anything to go by, I wouldn’t be shocked if somehow Nadja learned Freddie was up to something sleazy and goes after him for it in a “you don’t get to hurt Gizmo, only we get to do that!” sort of way since she would still be reticent about being warm to him. Though that scenario is more based on the fact that if there’s anything Nadja truly despises, it’s men who go out of their way to be horrible.
I welcome any and all feedback and or criticism and do not take my speculations as givens as they are just that- in fact, as I’ve said many times before I’ll be shocked if I’m on point about any of the above.

qocc oc challenge - August 20th | New plot bunny → Damien Lawson in What We Do in the Shadows
Damien grew up with two emotionally absent parents which caused him to feel a lot of loneliness and feeling unloved. The only comfort Damien ever had was with his best friend Guillermo de la Cruz. The two became best friends in Elementary school after a school Bully shoved them in a janitor's closet together, locking them both inside until someone eventually let them out hours after school ended.
Guillermo's mother basically welcomed him with open arms and he was free to spend his time whenever he wanted with Guillermo. One day the two decided to go to the movies together and saw Interview with the Vampire. Which inspired Guillermo's lifelong obsession with vampires and Damien's obsession with the Occult.
As Damien got older he realized the feelings he had for Guillermo were more than a friend and even when Guillermo came out and confessed to him he was gay. Damien of course accepted him and kept his secret but he didn't confess his feelings towards him out of fear of being left behind and all alone.
One day after his shift at Panera Bread Guillermo came home excitedly and told Damien he had met real-life vampires and he was going to be a familiar to one of them.
He knew how much his friend wants to become a vampire so after being told this, Damien decided to join him and became a familiar himself.
Bonus Info: Damien is going to be paired with Guillermo and Nandor.

I hate how the most mysterious characters in the house is the fucking golden retriever vampire and the Dilbert-looking guy
I know that we know stuff about Nandor and it doesn't feel like he's mysterious because he's Nandor but he IS. And I know that we don't know much about Colin Robinson, because he's supposed to be this boring guy but I wanna know what he was up to before the others came along.
We know quite a lot of the human life of the other vampires and pre-house life of Guillermo :
Nadja : born in the 15th century, grew up very poor in a big family in Antipaxos, they were discriminated against because of their Gypsy blood. She lost a lot of family members (like her mom who was eaten by a bear) and the conditions she lived through made her the tough bitch we know her as. She either was turned by a vampire disguised as a serpent while she was throat-singing or by the Baron Afanas and chased off by her family and the villagers of her island. We know she's interested in fashion and music (songwriter and singer).
Laszlo : born in 1711, grew up rich and noble in England and was brought up by his nanny. He received an education and even went to Eton from where he was kicked out. He was turned by Nadja, was in the Sherwood Club, left it, met Sigmund Freud, was a sailor, was a pornstar, was Jack the Ripper, turned Elvis Presley, wrote famous songs with Nadja and we know about his interests (music, sciences, sculpting, cinema, porn).
Guillermo : born in 1992, was raised by a single mom in a lower class household in the Bronx. He's fascinated by vampires and wants to become one since he saw Antonio Banderas in Interview with the Vampire. He went to public schools. He was bullied through highschool with his best friend Jeremy. After highschool he went to work at a Panera Bread and met Nandor. He draws, seems to like Lego and watching TV and movies.
And then we have the other two :
Colin Robinson : born in 1921, apparently had a relatively normal childhood with normal parents, his father was a "Rupaul-type" person and his mother was boring and still is and we met his grandma once. He's 100% white. He likes his roommates, belly dancing and sifting through human shit??
Nandor the Relentless : born in 1262,had a mom and dad, was a soldier then a general in the Ottoman Empire, trained in the Al-Qolanudar army and became Supreme Viceroy of Al-Qolanudar at 17. Had a horse, Jahan, considered best friend that he had to eat to survive. Ransacked and pillaged many villages (including Nadja's) and was nicknamed "the Relentless" from said pillagings. Had 37 wives, was turned at some point and his wives left him. Was driven out of his country by peasants. He likes reading, dancing and basketball.
THAT'S ALL WE FUCKING KNOW.
And we don't even know if he was a Viceroy before or after training in the army. I have being saying lies like "oh Nandor was so good he rose through the ranks, he came from nothing blablabla" we don't know if he was born noble or peasant. We don't know how, why or when he was turned. We don't know any hindsight on how he felt in the army or what he did as a Viceroy or what he did after he was driven out THE GUY IS TOO MYSTERIOUS PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF NANDOR PLEASEPLEASEPLE-
Edit :forgot Nandor liked basketball smh
Edit2 : Laszlo told us his age in s1 I can't believe I didn't noticed the moment he said it

For the ask meme: Kara and Lois?
Headcanon A:  realistic
thara ak-var was her first kiss, just a few scant weeks before she got in her rocket to get yeeted earthwards
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
as linda lang, she nearly threw hands in a downtown metropolis panera bread because someone was shit-talking superman in response to some story on tv. kon, who was there with her, had to throw her over his shoulder and get outta there lickety-split because he just knew kara was about to dump a cup of soup on that guy.
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
she never manages to fully forgive herself for her (perceived) role in her mother's death.
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
she and kon actually get to bond like she wanted to, a bit before his death and a Lot after his resurrection. she teaches him about kryptonian culture, and he teaches her what he can about earth. they go to arcades together, or get coffee and then settle down somewhere private to go over how to read kryptonian. kon teaches her to surf. she teaches him about the history of krypton's guilds. they go to ma kent together to try and recreate kryptonian recipes based on what she remembers, with what earth substitutes they can come up with. its about the fambly, baybee!
and now lois (again)!
Headcanon A:  realistic
she keeps a set of lockpicks in her purse, along with a flashlight, portable charger for her phone, and a small digital camera. never know when she might need to break in somewhere and document shady shit!
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
earth krypto the lil terrier fella imprints on her after dubbilex's death and she has no idea what to do with that. extremely grumpy little superdog who has made himself at home in her office and will NOT be moved. uh... she supposes he can just hang out so long as he's quiet and lets her work...?
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
sometimes i like the idea of a lucy who got out from sam's bullshit etc and who has a generally decent relationship with lois, but in versions where we follow everything with lucy from new krypton arc... it kills lois that she still loves her. of course she still loves her. that's her baby sister. she's turned into a person lois reviles. loving her hurts. but how can she not?
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
she shouldve gone after tana moon with a shotgun. listen. she shouldve gone after tana moon with a shotgun and in this essay i will

It was the best Thanksgiving ever for all the cliche Charlie Brown Holiday Special reasons.
I began by fearing that it would be sad in both definitions of the word: tragic and pathetic.
The milestone of the holiday amplifies the continued decline of my father. I can remember what he could still do last year and can no longer. His condition drove the manner of celebrating.
Thanksgiving dinner was potluck at my father’s board and care. My wife, my mother, my father, four other residents, and the three staff. We brought sides. The turkey came from Panera Bread.
If it doesn’t sound elegant or traditional, it’s because it wasn’t. And in not being either of those things, it was all so perfectly beautiful for all the reasons they say. Family is what you make of it. Holidays are what you make of them.
I’m learning, man. I’m learning real slow and real late but I’m learning.
Next year will be different. Time doesn’t stand still. It’s called the present because it’s a gift. And it was a gift.
We came home and ate sweet potato pie at our neighbors’ house.

Steph drips Texas Champagne on her scrambled eggs on a Sunday morning, all alone in her kitchen. This is what grief looks like, twenty-three months and one day on. It’s Christmas Eve, and she keeps forgetting about it.
It’s stupid grief to have. She’s been saying that to her therapist for almost two years. You have no right to grieve this much for someone who dumped you when you were eighteen, no matter how many times you reconnected just to sever it all again (because you were both scared and too proud to admit it, to him or to yourself). But it doesn’t matter. She has to feel the way she feels, no matter how many times she turns up the music and dances around her living room to shed it, to make it go away.
She takes a bite of her eggs and lets the Texas Champagne hit her tongue. There’s no better hot sauce in the world, nothing better to make her remember that food is an experience. For a moment, Steph wonders what she’d be like if she were a Texan. She knows she wouldn’t put an apostrophe S on the ends of different grocery stores and restaurants. She caught herself telling her mother to meet her at Panera Bread’s the other day and briefly considered what it would be like to never speak again. But maybe she’d sound like that squirrel from the SpongeBob cartoon she flips past when she’s trying to watch reruns of The Wonder Years. For a second, she wishes she was that squirrel under the sea. She wouldn’t have to worry about crying or running into one of your dead high school sweetheart’s siblings at the store. She wouldn’t have to eat Christmas Eve breakfast all by herself. No, she’d just be a cartoon. Two-dimensional. Imaginary. Only existing on paper and in between television channels in the middle of the day.
Steph’s not sure how long she’s felt that way, but she thinks it’s been longer than twenty-three months and one day. She thinks it’s been much longer than that.
She turns on the TV to keep her company while she eats her eggs and Texas Champagne. She’s not sure what channel she’s watching. It’s a commercial with “Deck the Halls” playing in the background. She doesn’t know what it’s advertising, and she doesn’t care. It’s noise, and she needs noise. She turns up the volume and takes another bite of her eggs. She’s running out of hot sauce.
Steph goes to the fridge for more Texas Champagne. The bottle only has a few more drops in it. Hardly enough to satisfy the rest of the eggs on her plate. She closes her eyes and laughs to keep from crying (because she is so tired of crying). Of course she’s out. Of course she’s out on Christmas Eve, one of two days on the calendar she keeps trying to forget. She never wants to leave the house on Christmas Eve. She doesn’t want to remember what’s out there, what she’s missing.
But she’s out of Texas Champagne.
She throws on her coat and her shoes. Maybe it’s a good idea to brave the grocery store today. She’s got to get what she needs.
(part of @nosebleedclub january challenge -- day xix!)

16 & 17 for the fanfic writer ask game, please.
16. where is your favorite place to write?: when i was in college it was my habit to go to the panera bread a few times a week to study/get as many iced tea refills as i could stand/hog a booth for a while. i really enjoy writing somewhere that isn’t home - since covid & everything that’s kind of fallen by the wayside, i’m still not comfortable doing it. so there’s probably a coffee shop somewhere out there that would feel perfect, but i’m not looking for it right now.
17. what is your favorite line you’ve ever written?: hooooooooo this is a toughie. this is hard. i’m a big rereader of my own stories - i couldn’t even tell you what my favorite published fic is, it changes any given day. and i'm greedy. here's five of my current favorites.
“Vaudeville trash, Mother says for the dozenth time, and Meg is exhausted coming off the fourth show, wishes she were sharing a cigarette with Diedre backstage before the fifth; it’s nearly enough for her to let the smile drop and say, Of course it is, we have a vaudeville act.” from The Most Self-Indulgent Fic Ever Written, looking lovely (burning bright) which was written in honor of my thirteen year old self who spent months obsessed with love never dies, a musical that 1) isn’t good and 2) hates women. what if the women in that kissed.
“And it is draped in green: her color, poison and rot and sick smoke, the lovely gleam of her scales in the dark.” from you are coming down with me, where raishan is one part cat playing with a wounded bird and one part possessive deity laying claim to an acolyte and a third, other part that’s just labeled ‘kinda horny about it all.’
“It’s a kind of luxury, Cass knows, that they can each eat two bowls of soup and have enough left for the morning meal. And the mattress is surprisingly soft, enough so that both she and the Courier roll to the dip in the middle of the bed.” from one more song about moving along the highway, which i wrote in a fit of spring sadness and love more and more as time goes on.
"Pike doesn’t love him the way he loves her. It’s impossible—because Pike is sure and real and true, and Scanlan is flashpaper and illusion. He thinks sometimes about the drive out of Westruun, watching her disappear in the rearview mirror. Three exits down the highway he pulled to the side of the road and sobbed until his throat was raw. And he didn’t call, because he knew it would hurt." from my current favorite wip which is just called WakingUpInVegas.mp3 right now. what if they woke up married. why not. modern au pikelan is built for angst
“You know I love you. It would take worse than this to make me stop—a fact which shames me to my very core. I, who cling so tightly to oaths and promises, abandon them at the first scrap of affection returned. I cannot call it anything but disgusting. How fickle I am, to turn my back on all of it for you.” which was part of an in-character letter from my old paladin to her knight boyfriend. Beatrice Pyre you will always be my girl.

Job interview on Friday. I have a good feeling about it, I'm just feeling idk. Weird. I've had this job for 8 years and I honestly never wanted to leave. But Panera is phasing out bakery operations and I'm probably getting laid off this year anyway. I thought about transfering to cafe management? But something is telling me it's time to move on. And a few days ago I decided to look at job postings, just to see, saw one that looked cool, applied for it cuz why not, not like I'll get a callback, we've all been jobhunting, you can apply for dozens of jobs and you're lucky to land one interview, but? They called just now? What are the odds???
So yeah I'm not the kind of person to look for signs from the universe or whatever, but I trust my gut. Perhaps my soul is about to be set free from Mother Bread.

Note
what is one thing that you are thinking about right now
My brain is currently a mix of unconnected thoughts, among them are:
- have to go to Panera to get bread
- how often is too often to use my employee discount at work? It seems like a waste to get coffee anywhere else when I can go a block down and get the same thing for 3 bucks but I feel like my coworkers think it’s weird that I just show up on my days off
- vampires, love them
- mmmmm hot choccy (my mother has requested I make her some so that’s what I’m doing right now)
- every MCR song slaps, nothing but bops
- I get to call my gf later, very excited about that
- OH FUCK I HAVE A CALL I NEED TO BE ON IN HALF AN HOUR FORGOT ABOUT THAT
