Hello, students!
Are you ready for another mini lesson? Today in class we will learn about something that doesn't exactly pertain to magic, but something that may help you understand yourselves better. It can also somewhat explain your wild magic to an extent. We shall learn about the origin and making of Souls. Not many know how souls are born, but I do!
Souls are made most often through powerful events, be it calm or calamity. I have cast a powerful spell on you all so you may determine where your soul had come from and-
Well...I believe these aren't permanent. The last batch of mishaps have mostly passed. Moving on,
There are many ways to tell how your soul was made, and sometimes even exactly where it was made! I am going to use a personal favorite of mine, though. I have cast a spell over every student here! Sometime in the future a bug will be attracted to you. If you see a certain bug nearby, go to the guide below, for they know your origin.
-----
Apterygota - Your soul was made from something powerful in the Between. The Between is the realm of Monsters. Magic from these realms are wild and unpredictable. Your wild magic may reflect that.
Palaeoptera - Your soul was made from a catastrophic weather event. Magic from storms are overwhelming and strong.
Polyneoptera - Your soul was slowly made over time in the deep wilderness. Magic from nature is scary and beautiful.
Paraneoptera - Your soul was made from someone else's death. Magic from impactful deaths are elusive and perplexing.
Endopterygota - Your soul was made from deep space. Magic from the outer planes are unbounded.
-----
So keep a close eye out for any insect! It just might tell you something about yourself...

Mayfly sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing.
Mayflies are aquatic insects belonging to the order Ephemeroptera. This order is part of an ancient group of insects termed the Palaeoptera, which also contains dragonflies and damselflies. Over 3,000 species of mayfly are known worldwide, grouped into over 400 genera in 42 families.
My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. This process often referred to as Giclée printing uses the highest standard of printing methods to give gallery quality results that maintain all the details of the original sketch.
The graphite pencils I use are Faber-Castel, the oil pastels are Sennelier and the china-graph is Caran d’Ache. The inks are pigment based archive quality (100years+). The heavyweight specialist papers I use are of the best professional quality having a wonderful surface designed specifically for fine art drawings and illustrations.
Very limited editions with only ten per size printed.
All artwork is signed and includes a certificate of authenticity.
The A5 are 5.8" x 8.25" (14.8cm x 21cm)

oh… the bug I got was a dragonfly. I like those, actually. Guess… that wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. Palaeoptera… I guess that means my soul is born from a storm. Guess that makes sense.

Most Catermor these days evolve into Pupala, but only a few with certain traits are able to evolve into Dreggoon. When Dreggoon finally embrace their strange wings and inner flame, they become the wily Palaeogon. To catch them all, you must find the secret to unlocking the hidden ancestry of the Catermor family. Will you do it? Name: Palaeoptera (archaic insect group that includes mayflies and dragonflies) and Dragon Like Crobat, it tucks its second pair of wings when flying and only uses it when the primary pair become tired. In prehistoric times, Palaeogon, -pseudo legend-, and -flying fossil- battled for the royal title of King of the Skies. Its fiery breath incinerates what its claws don't shred. #reegion #fakemon #fakedesign #fakemondesign #fakemondrawing #fakemonart #fakemonartwork #pokemon #BugType #DragonType #fakedex #illustration #characterart #ocart #drawing #art #artwork #originalart #traditionalart #TraditionalFakemonArt #markerart #copicmarker #ink #artwork #mixedmedia https://www.instagram.com/p/B69P9u_FUjV/?igshid=2x44vjir5hnq

I've been trying to look it up, but I'm not quite sure if my "soul origin" falls under any of the groups. What do we go with if our soul origin isn't part of any of the groups listed (i.e. I only really see mosquitos and crane flies [which are Diptera, under Antliophora].)?
I believe those fall under the Palaeoptera category! So, your soul was made from a catastrophic weather event! Usually souls born from so have been birthed in the hearts of terrifying storms. There is a common saying for when a terrible storm brews, "We lose our crops, another gains a life." It's been shortened to "Lose the crops gain a life" overtime by the youth. It's a term of dismissiveness, such as "Oh, well".

Palaeoptera or Metapterygota?
Commenting on insect phylogeny is beyond my pay grade. (For what it’s worth though, Kjer et al., 2016 consider the problem unresolved.)
