Tell me the fandom deets on Macgyver, pretty please?

the first character i ever fell in love with: Jack Dalton - 100% - From the moment I first met him I was like: sassy ex Delta Force who loves everyone too much? MINE!

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: Unpopular answer: Mac honestly. I love Mac. I love him a lot. I understand that he’s been through some shit. But some of his motivations in the last few seasons (fair warning: I’m not totally caught up on the show - this is one of the main reasons why I stopped watching) haven’t made a lot of sense to me. And the stuff with Nasha really made me mad... And I think if they would have given us the voice overs in S3 we would have been able to see more of his motivation and gotten into his head why he was doing/saying some of the things he was doing it would have helped. And from what I’ve seen... I don’t like who he is in a relationship with Desi (I don’t hate MacDesi, but I hate what they’ve done with it in the show from what I’ve seen)... so I just... I don’t know I feel like he’s not the same character from S1-2... and that’s my Mac honestly.

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: I actually think I still love all of my ships from this show... there’s no ship that I don’t like anymore... Huh. But I don’t tend to give up on ships... I don’t know if I’ve ever changed my opinion drastically on a ship in a fandom like that ever.

my ultimate favourite character™: Jack Dalton again... I love him too much. He’s got the greatest lines... he’s charming and witty and loves all of his little found family so much it hurts.

prettiest character: I honestly have to say I think this is a tie between Riley and Mac. I have a bigger crush on Riley... but GAH they’re both so pretty. Like... ridiculously pretty.

my most hated character: James. He’s the worst. I even wrote an entire fic on the premise of Jack getting to punch him in the face. There was some other plot... but I honestly engineered the whole plot and everything around Jack getting to punch James in the face at the end. Worth it.

my OTP: MacDalton - I’m on this ship until it hits an iceberg and sinks. I love them so much. You go kaboom, I go kaboom?! Epic ship material. Coming back for another FUCKING TOUR IN AFGHANISTAN FOR MAC?! Epic ship material.

my NOTP: MacDesi (SORRY! This is not invalidating this ship for ANYONE ELSE - this is a personal opinion and I support you shipping them 100%) - again, fair warning that I’m not caught up on the series... but from everything I’ve seen... Desi is a very abusive SO. I think they had potential, but I really don’t like what they’ve done with it on the show. As for shipping outside of canon... I personally never saw the romantic connection based on their interactions before they got together. Very-Desi centric... the pink dress scene drove me crazy because I didn’t like the idea of Desi trying to win Mac over by doing something like that. Up to that point Desi struck me as the kind of woman to be herself and just wait for a man to make a move on her, or to just be bold and make a move on him. But strutting around in a revealing little dress and playing mating games - I was sad they took her character to that place... so I never really shipped them.

favourite episode: Mac + Jack (S2E12) - as a MacDalton shipped I love this for obvious reasons... but there’s just so much in this episode... I loved seeing Jack and Mac in the army... the way they first met and totally hated each other at first... fantastic. This episode also has my favourite line of all time... when Mac’s trying to defuse the bomb under the hummer... and Jack’s bothering him... Mac: Well, you know what, there is a quicker way to do this. Jack: Really? Mac: Yeah, it involves a loud boom and a bunch of shrapnel in your body. Close second place: Skull + Electromagnet (S2E5) - Harper Hayes is so awesome and badass. I love her a lot.

saddest death: Jill Morgan. I loved her so much. I remember sitting down to watch the S3 premiere and saying: As long as they don’t kill Jill, they really can’t let me down...

favourite season: 2 - I loved Cage. I loved all the dynamics. My favourite episodes are in this season. It’s solid from start to finish. I love this whole season.

least favourite season: I will say 3... because I didn’t watch enough of S4 to name it. But S3 really let me down. I hated the way things just faded away with Nasha. I wish they’d had a better end to that. I hated that we lost the voice overs, especially because some of the stuff Mac was doing and saying was obviously because he was messed up over what happened with Jill and Murdoc and all that, and if we’d had voice overs we could have understood what he was feeling. The same way we did in S1 when all the stuff with Nikki was going on. Jack left. Gross. And he left Mac behind with just that handshake. Before Jack left I hated the way he was treated - they made him into the comedic relief buffoon... and there were several episodes where Mac was making Jack the butt of jokes. Desi showed up and it was pretty obvious when she came on the scene that they were introducing her as a new love interest for Mac. I have 0 tolerance for female characters being introduced solely as a love interest - cause: gross. I hated the Riley/Billy breakup. I hated that they killed Jill.  I hated that Charlie died the way he did, and then that night when they got together for beers Mac was smiling and hitting on Desi And let’s not forget that DESI got a phone call from Jack when Charlie died... but Mac didn’t. WHY?! You really think Jack would find out that Charlie died the way he did and not immediately call his boy!? Bullshit Sorry for the rant... but there were a lot of things in this season I didn’t care for.

character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: I guess Desi... though I wouldn’t say everyone else loves her. I just... there was so much potential with Desi as a character. Strong asian-American woman who’s the badass strong arm of their team... and they made her a love interest and made her kind of an abusive SO... and I just didn’t care for that. I think her and Mac as characters were both treated badly as a result. In conclusion: I really wanted to like her... I even have a huge crush on her... but I still just... don’t.

my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: I guess Murdoc?... Cause I love Murdoc a lot. And I was sad that they ruined the dynamic between him and Mac when he killed Jill. Killing Jill made it so their dynamic can never be the same. Mac didn’t like Murdoc before, but now he hates him on a personal level and will never forgive him.

my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: Riley - she deserved for Ellwood to stick around. She deserved for Jack to stick around. She deserved for Billy to STICK AROUND. And she deserves to have Mac treat her his found sister and not try to get into her pants the way he seems to every other woman he’s EVER around. (AGAIN: I am not in any way saying MacRiley isn’t a valid ship. I can see the potential - ship to your heart’s content). All this talk of love triangles upsets me... I think they’ve waited too long to pull the trigger on MacRiley... because they’ve always very much had sibling vibes to me.

my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: I had originally written that I didn’t have one, but I TOTALLY DO!!! Jack/Harper Hayes!!! I have this series of fics where she’s basically his Murdoc and is totally stalking him and stuff... and I just... everything I’ve written around their sexual tension is very non-con... but I love them a lot and I DON’T KNOW WHY.

my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: Mac/Jill - I kinda love them. I love the idea of them being nerds together. I think they would be adorable. Jill is into the spy life but not a field agent so there wouldn’t be as much stress for Mac about losing his girl to the life... etc... So I love them. I think they could have been happy together. And seeing Mac have a happy little home with someone he can still talk about spy stuff with I think would have been great. And yet as much as I love them I just still sit back and dream about it, but I haven’t written much for them. Thank you for the ASK!!! I love doing these!

15: The Break-Up

Overall Thoughts: This is one of the strongest episodes Glee ever did. It’s also one of the most emotional. It’s kind of strange, ranking it so high, though, because I actually rarely watch this episode since it makes me both furious and so, so sad. Let’s get into it.

What I Like:

My absolute favourite aspect of this episode is Brittana. We’ve seen Brittany explicitly missing Santana for three episodes now, and it all culminates in that scene at Breadstix. When Brittany tells Santana that she left her behind and it really hurt, I think it’s one of the most honest and emotional things Brittany has ever said. Although she didn’t want to break up with Santana, I think Santana was right in doing so. She didn’t shift any blame, she didn’t try and play the victim, she didn’t even excuse herself. “I haven’t been a good girlfriend to you” and that’s that. She isn’t what’s best for Brittany right now, and so she’s not going to keep dragging Brittany down. I think this is also one of the greatest character development moments for Santana; the Santana we saw in “Prom Queen” would never have thought of Brittany’s desires before hers. They’re growing up, and they’re doing what’s right. But, oh, god does it hurt to watch.

That scene between Finn and Rachel at the end is one of Lea Michele’s best acting moments in the entire show. Not that she’s a bad actress most of the time, but the emotion of it all is so real. It’s no secret that I’ve never been a big Finchel supporter, but I feel for her. I sobbed while watching this scene, just as I do every time, because she just blows me away.

The scene between Finn and Kurt is another personal favourite. We rarely got any scenes between these two, and it’s nice to see the comradery that they have.

Someone pointed out when this episode first came out that after “Don’t Speak” Blaine is always seen alone, sectioned off from the group. Even his first shot in “Don’t Speak” is him alone, the camera zooming in on him. Now, I really hate that Blaine cheated, like, more than anything, and I hate that they then spent the rest of the season focusing on his emotional journey rather than Kurt’s, but, that being said I think the imagery of this is lovely. It really shows his isolation, his loneliness, his state of mind. It also builds up in the next few episodes, and culminates in “Dynamic Duets”. It’s interesting how they can show so much about a person’s headspace with just cinematography.

Brody isn’t a douche. He shows up to Callbacks, and he greets Finn first. He’s nice to Finn, and he doesn’t ask Rachel to sing with him, only agrees to do so when Finn suggests it. He respects the boundaries that have obviously been raised by Finn being there, and I really appreciate that. Honestly, I feel like they could have done so much more with Brody if they hadn’t decided they were tired of him mid-season and offed him in one of the worst ways possible.

Kurt is so genuinely excited to see Blaine. It’s hard, because you know what’s coming, but it’s also refreshing to be reminded that even though Kurt is caught up in his new life that he still loves Blaine just as much as he did before he came to New York. It just sucks that the only nice scene we got between Klaine in this episode lasted .02 seconds.

Emma standing up for herself, and making it clear to Will that just because he didn’t get his way doesn’t mean the conversation isn’t over makes me so happy. People rarely talk about Emma’s character development, but she’s seriously come so far since season one. She made it very clear to Will that she wasn’t just going to bend over and do whatever he wanted, which is such a far cry from the Emma we met in the pilot who was basically following Will around like a lost puppy.

I know I already said it, but seriously. Brittana. They blow my mind.

What I Don’t Like:

The way the Klaine story plays out has always bothered me, and will continue to bother me until the day I die. They set it up so perfectly in the previous episode, and the beginning of this episode plays the same way: Kurt is too busy, and Blaine feels alone and neglected. THAT WAS ENOUGH OF A REASON FOR THEM TO BREAK UP. If a significant other made me feel the way Blaine was obviously feeling throughout this episode and the last one, I would break up with that significant other. He would have been completely justified in doing so. But no, apparently Kurt’s not allowed to be the bad guy (I love Kurt, I do, but he wasn’t being a good boyfriend), so instead of just going with what they set up, they pulled a cheating storyline out of thin air that made zero sense and honesty almost made me give up on Klaine. I just… ugh. I hate that they did that, and I will always hate that they did that.

The whole Kitty/Jake/Marley thing was stupid and unnecessary, as were most of their storylines throughout season four. Cut them out and give Brittana and Klaine, or even Wemma for fuck’s sake, more screen time. Please and thanks.

That being said, I really don’t understand why they tried to shoehorn Wemma into this episode as a “potential break-up” thing, when really all they had was a fight. By doing that, they basically brought them back down to high school level, like they’d been all throughout the first season, which isn’t what their relationship has been like for ages. It felt wrong and unnecessary, and I wish they’d played it more like the fight it was than as if it was some huge relationship ending drama that was literally never mentioned again.

While having all three main couples break up in one episode packed a huge punch, it was also frustrating because Finchel got the A plot, while Klaine got the B plot, Brittana the C, and then Wemma + Newbies a tiny D plot. Yeah, they tried to act like Klaine and Finchel got equal screentime, but most of the time both couples were on screen Finchel was touching, and cuddling and kissing, while Klaine were either in different cities or standing ten feet away from each other. Also, Finchel gets like a five-minute break-up scene at the end (which don’t get me wrong, I love that scene, I do) but we don’t even know if Kurt and Blaine are broken up. It just doesn’t seem fair to break every couple up in one episode if you aren’t going to give every couple their dues.

In “The Scientist” when they show Finchel and Wemma’s first kiss, and then scenes of Klaine and Brittana barely touching. WE GET IT FOX, YOU HATE GAYS. Jesus Christ.

Songs:

Barely Breathing: What I like about this song is how Blaine and Finn are in total different headspaces, but somehow this song manages to portray both perfectly. They sound awesome together, too. Plus, I love seeing Kurt in his fake Dalton uniform. Cutie.

Give Your Heart a Break: If I had to cut one song from this episode, it would be this one. I like it, don’t get me wrong, but it feels unnecessary. Every other song packs such an emotional punch, whereas this one is just sort of… there. I don’t know.

Teenage Dream: Although it breaks my heart, I really do love this version of the song. Slowed down versions of pop songs are my kryptonite, and Darren sounds so incredible singing it. Plus, again, the cinematography really does a good job of showing how isolated and claustrophobic he’s feeling. There’s also the crack in his voice when he says the last “let you put your hands on me”, which breaks my heart. He’s clearly thinking about Eli, and how desperately he wishes he hadn’t done it. All that being said: WHY DID YOU FUCKING CHEAT (im literally forever mad about it).

Don’t Speak: Again, emotional. Great harmonies. They all sound fantastic, and it’s really heartbreaking to watch. The one shot that always gets me is the one where Rachel and Blaine are alone at the fountain. Ouch.

Mine: Seriously, Brittana in this episode. Holy fuck. The first time I watched it I didn’t even ship Brittana (I didn’t really start shipping them until season five), but I still sobbed when Santana sang this, and I’ve sobbed every time since. It’s so fucking raw and emotional. So beautiful and amazing. I love it.

The Scientist: This is an awesome finale, and a really strong song. My only issue is how it’s pretty evenly split until right at the end when Rachel comes in and literally takes over the entire fucking song. I hate when they do that, it drives me crazy. But other than that, a great song to conclude a really strong episode.

Final Thoughts: Klaine is my otp, and I nearly lost faith in them during this episode. I’ll never forgive Glee for that. I still think that Blaine cheating was beyond unnecessary, and I will continue to think that until the day I die. That being said, it’s one of Glee’s strongest episodes ever, and that can’t be discounted. And seriously. Brittana. Holy fuck.

Season 6 was a disaster and it's more than likely due to the writing but honestly, after everything that happened (Kurt leaving Blaine, not making ANY moves to get Blaine back, and basically still not making any commitment to Blaine aka going out with that weird older dude) I can't see Kurt and Blaine together anymore. How do you still ship them when in season 6 it's so obvious that there is nothing left between them. Blain deserved better than season 6 Kurt :/

We all deserved better than season 6.  Everything - from the first few moments of 6x01 right up until that hallway scene and flash forward in the finale - was an insult to what they (and we as fans) had been through together.  It probably sounds like a cop out, but I just don’t take anything from those episodes as canon.  I know technically they are, but the things they had them do and say were so OOC that they flew in the face of everything we’d grown to know about those men over 5 seasons.  TPTB had it in for them and damned if that wasn’t the one consistent thing about season 6.  I can’t think of any other explanation for why they would deliberately set out to torch their most popular couple in the premiere and then drag things out over 7 painful to watch episodes, culminating with the most anti-climatic unsatisfying reunion you’ll ever see and that joke of a wedding.  And then after that, they all but disappear from the show.  Literally from the next episode but they had next to no storyline or scenes together after they were married.  It certainly didn’t help the ratings, did it?  Always a smart idea to intentionally piss off your biggest fan base.  That’s show running 101, right?

I’d love to know what Darren and Chris thought when they got those first couple of scripts for season 6.  Reading through that bullshit and seeing what they had to work with.  I know they’ve both said they like the drama, but this wasn’t drama.  This was a knife to their characters and the biggest middle finger to their fans I’ve ever had the displeasure of watching.  They wanted me to believe that Kurt had no interest in his own wedding?  He had no input on things, didn’t want to help with the planning?  You’re kidding me, right?  And that he would sit there and say those things to Blaine, watch him crumble and break right in front of him without an ounce of feeling or emotion?  Learn he was so depressed over this that he was cut from NYADA and apparently, homeless and friendless, had to go back to Ohio to stay with his parents but that’s no big deal, right?  Its only his future.  This is not Kurt.  This is not the Kurt Hummel that I know.  He manages to put up with Rachel for years, who is literally the worst friend you will ever see and treats him like a little peon only there to serve and support her, but throws away his relationship with Blaine?  Nope.  Not buying it.

Both of their other “relationships” in season 6 make my skin crawl, but no more so than the one they forced on Blaine.  Even with a head injury and amnesia, there’s no way Blaine would go within 50 feet of him.  No fucking way in hell. There was nothing redeemable or watchable about any of that and every single time he was onscreen or even mentioned, a part of my soul died.  If they were hell bent on doing this, they could have put him with anyone else, someone new, someone he met at Dalton.  But no.  They went with the most destructive choice possible, for no reason that I can see other than showing off their great big “FUCK YOU” sign to the Klaine fans.  That sign seems to be the only thing they invested in for season 6.  And the idea that Kurt would forgive the old guy who lied to him and arranged to meet him under false pretenses and continue to I don’t even know what with him, but cuts Blaine out of his life over some toothpaste is mind-numbingly stupid.  There’s no future there, so what the fuck is he wasting his time with him for?  Someone else had to tell Kurt Hummel - of all people - that life is short?  Like he doesn’t know that better than anyone else on this show?  That if he wants Blaine back - which he said he did way way back in 6x01 - GO GET HIM.  Stop talking to everyone else and talk to him.  Those wonderful heartfelt conversations they used to have in seasons 2 and 3 - where did those go?  Remember those?  You know, back when this show cared?  Those conversations and moments that elevated them above all the rest of the couples on this show.  Where was that when we needed it most? They barely spoke to each other the entire last season, and we certainly didn’t get the pleasure of those moments when they were alone and could just be with each other.  Those moments that made me believe in them.  That they weren’t just a typical high school romance they’d outgrow in the real world.  Just because you meet someone at 16 doesn’t mean that’s not the person you’re meant to be with.  THAT’s why I still ship them and why I always will.  That’s why I throw out everything before that flash forward.  That little locker scene and the time jump?  THAT’s my Klaine.  That’s my OTP.  That’s the couple I know and love so very much.  That’s why I suffered though season 4.  And the half of season 5 where they kept Blaine in Lima for nothing and all the weirdness once he finally got to NYC.  That’s what belongs after 5x20.

And the fact that you’re asking this question - whether or not they do belong together - makes me wonder if that wasn’t their intention all along.  To prove that they aren’t meant to be, that they’re just another couple, and not this show’s legacy.  Because they are.

Harry, the Corgi puppy that Sebastian gifted to Blaine just before he proposed three Christmases ago, has been joined by an equally boisterous Corgi puppy called Boq! Yes, of course Blaine named him - just be glad he didn't end up Fiyero or Puck! ;)

10 Days Of Seblaine 2023

Day 10: I Want You Back! (Your own interpretation)

Summary: Sebastian Smythe has messed up big-time - again. Except this time, he's pushed Blaine too far. Following a fight that definitely stemmed from a complete misunderstanding that Sebastian was just too stubborn to correct before he left for work, he arrives home after a stressful day to find Blaine's engagement ring on the kitchen table, and all his clothes gone. As well as a note that simply says, "We're done!"

Bursting into wracking sobs, Sebastian pours a large Courvoisier to steady his nerves and throws half of it back in one go, trying not to fly into full panic mode. As soon as the shock's worn off slightly, he calls Sam, begging him to tell him where Blaine is (because he has a horrible feeling he already knows, and the very thought is causing bile to rise up from his stomach and threaten to choke him. At first Sam stands firm and refuses to disclose where Blaine's staying, but when Bas breaks down and he realises how genuinely upset he is, he tells him. Confirming Sebastian’s worst fears. Blaine's gone to his ex's Loft, and Kurt has told Sam Blaine doesn't want to talk to Sebastian.

Sebastian thanks Sam, and after promising (with fingers crossed) not to 'do anything stupid, dude,' he tries to calm his racing mind and form a plan of action. He can feel the beginning of a migraine prickling his skull, but does his best to shake it off. "Fucking HUMMEL!" Bas roars, puling his arm back and preparing to throw his glass at the wall. But then he stops. Blaine would hate him taking his temper out on inanimate objects. And he doesn't want to give him any more reasons to be mad at him.

He grabs his keys, not bothering with a coat and sets off. The second his feet hit the sidewalk, the heavens open. "Fucking fantastic!" he mutters darkly. "Even the freaking weather hates me."

Don't worry, they'll be fine! Anyone who knows my Seblaine writing knows I love to put our boys through the wringer, but I'll always put them back together, and they are ALWAYS Endgame.

This was 100% the most complex, difficult graphic I've ever created, but also very fun to make! 💜

Day 7: Dragons!

Summary: "Okay, Killer, so you know how I've repeatedly said we can't get a pet right now? Yeah..well..meet Buddy! Your baby pet Dragon!"

Sebastian Smythe is having a very bad day... It's been pouring with rain since he woke up..after just 3 hours of sleep because he wanted to be ready for today's big case. Then, on the way to the station, some asshole in a gas guzzler decided to drive through a huge puddle, splashing Sebastian in the process and pretty much ruining his pristine Armani suit. He arrived at his office (after being told at his favourite French Coffee Shop that his favourite French blend (the owner imports it from a tiny little Café near Bas' family home in Paris just for him), is sold out and won't be back in for a week), to discover that his big client has got cold feet and won't be appearing in court. So..so far his day is just freaking awesome..

But that's not the worst part...

He and Blaine had a huge fight this morning because Blaine wants a pet, and Bas doesn't feel either of them has time to take care of one. So they regularly now have ..heated .disagreements about this matter..

But...it's getting harder and harder to say no to Blaine, because the hurt in those fucking kaleidoscopic eyes of his, with their foot long eyeslashes, and the slight tremble in his pouty lower lip when his Fiancé tells him "No," yet again, tug at the very core of Bas.

So..he's wavering...

Motion picture depicting Buddy and his two new Dads. Full ficlet to accompany it going up later tonight. Buddy was named by my wonderful friend Shawna, and I think she chose the perfect name for him.

Music is "I Get To Love You" by the incomparable Ruelle because pretty much every song she has ever written is a perfect Seblaine song.

27 year old Sebastian and 26 year old Blaine on their Wedding Day in 2021 - exactly 10 years after they first met. Happy, so in love, secure - and both finally feeling like their missing puzzle piece has slotted into place.

I'm not gonna say where this Graphic was created for, as it would pretty much spoil the fun of getting to that stage, but I had a lot of fun planning it. This is definitely one of my favourite Seblaine Graphics that I have ever created.

It’s a Canon-divergent...ish story where Sebastian and Blaine both attend Dalton at the same time and are best friends - loooonnng before Kurt even comes into the picture.

Following an explosive fight relating to Sebastian’s 18th birthday party, the wonderful friendship (and more) that our beautiful boys both believed was rock solid, lies shattered in shards and seems to be beyond repair. Can you believe it? 12 years ago today (arrrggh!), the OG Seblainers amongst us watched transfixed as Sebastian Smythe swept into Blaine Anderson's life like an over-confident, cocky tornado, oozing sex, setting his sights on Blaine, and not caring that he had a Boyfriend. Basically, shaking the very foundations of all that Blaine thought was set in stone for him....And weren't we all just here for it? 😏

Hey, Seblainers! Hellooooo, everyone else!

Happy Pride Month! This Graphic was actually created to accompany the upcoming new chapter of Running Through The Shadows, Hiding In Plain Sight (yes I know it's taken a loooooong time to get it completed, but sadly life got in the way - a lot!), however I felt it also worked perfectly for Pride Month - so decided to post it - and here we are!

In this Graphic, our emerald and amber-eyed beautiful Boys are shown with their beautiful Boys (and Girl), ahead of NYC Pride, and....that's all I can say about that for now! 😉
