as the space that shawn and angela occupy in my head is still very tidy and lived in… can we talk about how shawn literally fell in love with angela while they were first dating and the purse more so acted as a vessel for his feelings. topanga in particular did note that shawn and angela were getting along super well and that the only reason they ended things was due to a fear of commitment that he hasn’t confronted… which is all verifiably true and beyond that, i don’t think he actually realized he was falling in love because he still had his guard up for that reason. after all, they both entered the relationship knowing it would end in two weeks time, they both closed themselves off a bit which prevented themselves from getting too attached. But the purse took him by surprise, it’s like the moment he let his guard down he genuinely fell in love with what she loved. it helped formed the concept of this ‘mystery girl’ in his head, which was why he was so adamant that he knew everything about her when cory was questioning him.. because he did already know her and develop an immense attachment to her without realizing. it was a method of him figuring out that he genuinely fell in love with what she loves.

he tells cory that he’d know if he was in love with angela because he went out with her for two weeks, but cory protests this, saying that he’s never actually looked into her eyes. he never truly let her in. so it’s no surprise that the moment he truly lets his guard down around her and is able to fully look her in the eyes and see her for who she is, it hits him all at once, because those feelings were always there. the purse was his opportunity to realize that

Seems deeply out of character for Adam. Like, especially considering how he was having the classic Third Act Breakdown right before this?
