About the next edition...
We'll need MODS!
As some of you know, there were only three lovely editors for the 2023 edition, Talon, Victor, and Pepin, and we did it all on our own. Some of us were graduating, all of us got full-time jobs, and we can all agree that three of us WEREN'T ENOUGH!
So we won't make the same mistake this time! There's no way we'll be capable of running the zine again without far more support. Note that just because you're a mod, doesn't mean you can't have your work in the zine! All three of us had our work in the 2023 edition (but it isn't required, although it has to fit the theme).
So we need more mods!
The primary editor will remain Talon, for this next (potential) edition at least. Victor and Pepin will continue to have contributions as well. However we have several other positions that will need to be filled. Below we'll list them and give a short description.
If you are interested, please fill out this form! (Please keep in mind the time you will have to dedicate to this project if you are a mod. If you cannot reasonably dedicate that time, please reconsider.) If you're not interested, please reblog!! Descriptions under the cut.
The Tumblr Mod: You'll be in charge of running the tumblr, creating posts, using Canva, putting out announcements, tagging posts properly, and potentially sending emails. This is great for a creative, schedule-oriented individual. This is so that the tumblr doesn't go for large swaths of time without a single post, as it did for the 2023 edition. You will be in charge of the email primarily and any messages will go through you.
The Twitter Mod: You will work closely with the Tumblr mod. You'll be solely in charge of expanding our online presence to include twitter, so the fans over there have a chance to explore the wonders of our zine. Ideal for someone who knows twitter, is a great collaborator, and will be able to post regularly.
The Timeline Master: You'll be in charge of keeping track of the zine timeline and updating it as needed. You'll work closely with the Tumblr Mod to schedule posts. Your most important job will be ensuring ALL of our contributors provide each of their progress checks and recording those progress checks. This will be good for a person who wants to participate but has limited time. It will be most busy at the very beginning (setting up the timeline) and during the progress checks (anticipate 3, the 4th being the final delivery).
The Economics Professor: You'll be in charge of all monetary calculations. We have some calculations already from the 2023 edition, but we want to improve them. You'll also look in to other potential printing services for cheaper OR better quality options. You'll work with the Tumblr Mod to put out interest check polls to refine the calculations as much as possible. You'll also be in charge of the money when we begin preorders (Talon will walk you through this process) and all orders (for proofs or actual products) will go through you. This is great for someone with a numbers-oriented mind with a bit more free time on their hands.
The Copy Editor: You'll work closely with the primary editor(s), including Talon, for creation of the final product. You will look for grammatical errors, ensure all stylistic choices are the same throughout the document (no font errors, no extra spaces, etc.), and ensure all contributor pieces are actually included in the document. This is for a detail-oriented English mind. You will contribute to the contributor selection process (as will all of the editors) and work with contributors to refine their ideas and ensure they meet the theme.
The Mail Room(s): Ideally, this is two or more people who live close to/with each other who will be able to process the orders we receive and mail them out using our mail platform (Talon will walk you through this). This will be BUSY only once we have received the zines. It is the MOST IMPORTANT job. It is best for people who are careful and detail oriented, and have a great deal of free time (and a fair amount of space for boxes). You'll work closely with the Economics Professor.
The Go-To Guy: A jack-of-all-trades, mini-Talon. This person will help ensure all aspects of the zine are running smoothly, communication between editors, fans, and contributors is accurate and swift, and troubleshoot any problems which may arise. There may be two of this position. It is busiest in spurts (especially around events or progress checks). Ideal for someone who is personable and good at problem solving.

Greetings Dragon Booster fans! I am organising a Dragon Booster Fan Tarot Deck project, and applications for contributors are now open!

What is it?
This is a not-for-profit fan project, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Dragon Booster plus make some cool merch together! Currently, the goals for this project are:
Create a physical tarot deck/card game*: 35 cards, consisting of 22 x Major Arcana featuring any canon characters and optional OCs and 13 x "Draconium Arcana" where we cover all 13 Draconium colour crew leaders/side characters and dragons. The deck should also include a mini booklet introducing artists/instructions to play + board (if relevant) shipped to every contributor.
Create a digital printable deck: Free for the general public to download, print at home, play and enjoy
*Depending on whether we figure out a card game for this project.

Each artist will be responsible for:
Making 2-3 card designs. Each artist can draw 1 or 2 Major Arcana, featuring any canon characters and OCs of their choice. Each artist will also need to select 1 Draconium Arcana and feature minimum 1 canon crew leader and 1 dragon.
Finalisation of card assignments will be through a tally system and discussion on Discord to prevent too many character overlaps.

NOTE: As this is a not-for-profit project, contributors may have to pay for the printing and shipping of their own deck of cards. Please indicate in this form your budget/ability to pay for yourself. (This will not affect your participation!)
As with any other indie project organised online, merch-related projects carry some risks with the fulfillment of physical orders, especially in the case of relying on regional reps to reduce shipping fees. Very likely, the base of operations will be in Australia and products will be shipping from here, with reps in US/Canada etc. to sort orders there. For now, we are unlikely to be opening sales to non-contributors, unless discussed further through chat and if their orders contribute significantly to paying for costs to contributors.

I was the mod for the digital DB zine and fundraiser zines Stories for a Cause (Vol 1 and 2), and am active in making my own zines and merch. FAQs:
1) Do I have to write in English?: No, you do not! This is a multi-language-friendly event. Post in your language of choice and users can machine translate if neededl. If you choose to write in one language and later post translations to English, those translations can also be added to the AO3 collection.
2) Can I write an OT3 fic?: The mods support polyamorous shipping, this week is for CageBlade specifically. We'd like that contributions focus on Sonya & Johnny's relationship.
3) Well, what if I write a breakup fic and have them hook up with other people? It's still CageBlade, right?: Not for this event. This week is a celebration of CageBlade and how awesome they are together. Want to give us some hurt/comfort, breakup & reconciliation, sure! Whump? Go wild! But we want to see them coming together and realizing how great they are as a couple.
4) What if I don’t like any of the prompts and have ideas of my own?: Then go ahead and write them! Want to explore their friendship before they hooked up? Want to write all AUs? Do you have some art ideas you’re just itching for an excuse to post and draw? Go wild.

Starker Festival’s Summer Bingo 2023 Sign Up
Hey guys! It’s that time of the year again. We are extremely excited to announce the 2023 Starkerfestivals Summer Bingo Event!

General Info
The Starkerfestivals 2023 Summer Bingo will begin Thursday, June 1st, 2023, and run until September 30th 2023. Each participant will receive a personalized card with a 5x5 bingo of prompts.
Sign Up Form
You can sign up at any point before September 30th, but the event will start June 1st. If you complete the first bingo and want another, please feel free to sign up using the same link. If we do not get back to you with your new card within 24 hours, please send an ask or dm one of the mods.
Note: There are options to apply for NFF, FF, or a mixture of both. If you are under 18, we will only create FF cards for you. If you are 18+, feel free to choose which board you want.
Other Sign Up Info
We will start rolling cards out June 1st. If you signed up before or on May 31st, you should receive it by the end of the day June 1st. After June 1st, please give us mods 24 hours to get your card to you, but if it has been over that, feel free to dm one of us or send in an ask.
You can also ask us for a particular square to be replaced when you get your card if you don’t like the prompt, just drop us a message.
Rules
You can only have one card active at any time. You may ask for another card after you have won your old one. As if a new card, you should receive it within 24 hours.
As a participant, fulfilling prompts can be done at your leisure. We want everyone to have fun so whether you fulfill 1 or do the entire card, it's up to you! There is no obligation to "win" bingo but for those that want to go for it:
To "win", you will need to get five in a row via horizontal, vertical, or diagonal means. You can also win by getting the free space and all four corners. Finally, you can get a blackout by completing every square on the board. Visual examples:

After a lot of thought and consideration, we've decided to shut down the exchange twitter. We're sorry for those of you who use that as your main source of news, but the platform has become openly hostile to small projects and creators and it's going to be impossible for us to post there and ensure you actually see our updates. Instead, you can follow our announcements in the following ways:

We have added a blog to our website which will have an archive of all of our posts from today onward. You can follow the blog in your RSS reader of choice! (Have no idea what RSS is? Rules Updates
The rules have been updated to clarify that previously posted works cannot be added to the collection. An exception to this might be a transformational work of a work already in the collection (for example, if someone makes a podfic for a fic in the collection and doesn’t add it to the collection initially, it could be added later.)
The rules were also clarified to disallow works which are entirely AI generated. Our Exchange Info gives a more detailed explanation of what we mean.
Nominations
There have been no changes to nominations.
Sign-Ups
Sign-Ups require a minimum of 3 ships for requests and offers instead of one. We've received sign-ups with very limited requests and offers lately which makes producing a match very difficult.
Sign-Ups now allow for up a maximum of 60 ships requested and an unlimited number of ships offered. Please see Tutorials - How to Sign-Up for more details.
Your requests cannot consist of entirely ships which use a DNW to limit your creator to creating for only your OC. For at least one of the three ships you request you should be open to receiving any OC (generic, one created specifically for your gift, or your gifter's OC) or should be a ship which has no original characters. Creating for other people's OCs is complex and is not something that everyone is able or willing to tackle within the context of an exchange, so participants should be willing to be flexible for at least one request.
If you are requesting art of your OC we ask that you have more than one reference for both face and body. Otherwise, artists may have a difficult time filling your request.

What's really funny is that this person is attacking an early access creator for early access, for something they actually took time to make instead of going after paywall creators who are literally fucking stealing models and doing the bare minumum.
Make it make sense? The fucking double standards of this community man. Like...if early access creators get treated like this, it's no freaking wonder folks like leaf-motif and sixam went to paywalling. Why do the right thing and follow all the rules only to end up with your work stolen, redistributed, or mocked by people who don't understand the work you put in it? [This is by no means me excusing these people from making the choice to do the wrong thing, but I'm just saying...like if a community abuses people long enough it won't take much for them to consider abusing that community back...]
Like, the community can't be all "fuck paywallers" while treating the free and early access creators like machines who are just here to crank out cc for us to use and abuse. Like, that's not what these people are for. They are part of our community, and are important to support and uplift. Even if you cannot monetarily support these folks due to your situation, you can still send them a kind word, reblog their posts, share about them on social media, etc.
I just am kinda sick of the cycles of abuse I'm seeing in the community tbh. Like, EA convincing us that the game isn't playable without all this extra money and DLC and addons, which then makes it easier for paywalling creators to exploit that pavlovian-training and convince people that it's the same for CC. And those creators trying to justify it as well by saying "Well you're not giving your money to a money hungry corperation and instead giving it to a small creator!" as if they aren't using the same techniques the corperation is? And then other people seeing how easy it is to milk the CC money cow and deciding the fuck the community and just go straight to putting all of their content on patreon with paywalls.
Just from playing other games recently with healthier modding communities it just shows the absolute disconnect with reality.
So what can we do from here? I don't know but I think some simple steps would be:
1) Stop abusing and treating early access creators like trash. Don't share their shit before early access is over, don't complain about the wait times, and actually appreicate they're making things for you and doing the right thing.
2) Realize that your game is your game, and you don't have to compare yourself to or compete with fucking anyone. At the end of the day, in 10 years it's not going to matter that you had a piece of CC that almost nobody else had because it was ~*~exclusive~*~ or that you had a perfectly blender rendered story on your simstagram. But what is going to matter is your mental health, which is gonna take a toll if you start engaging in the toxic behavior of comparing yourself to others or competing with others because you think they "play the game" better than you, causing you to buy things you don't need from people set on abusing the community. Nobody plays the game better than you because we each play the game differently.
3) Surround yourself with people and creators who emphasize community over content. Be around creators who care about the community and give back to it and are decent humans vs people who are cranking out "content" and trying to be a "brand". Because again, in 10 years you might not even be playing the sims 4 anymore, but you might still have friends from the community that you made. I don't actively play the sims anymore but I still have sims 4 friends who check up on me and ask how I'm doing. And I suspect I'll have many of them as friends for years to come.
4) Don't be afraid to call a spade a spade and highlight people who aren't acting in the best interest of the community. Like, I get that people enjoy my blog because I do this and that people have loved following @littleblackbooksims for that reason too, but like, if we ALL took part a little bit in this, then perhaps I and others wouldn't have to shout so loud. Because IDK about you but I'd sure as heck love to not have to post so much about abusive paywallers and be able to post more turtle pictures.

I have to go to sleep soon cause they have to go to work in three morning. So I'm gonna put my question here and if you don't like questions you can pretend I didn't. Ok? You seem nice and your a grown up so you know stuff. Do you think littles should be allowed to have their own tumblers alone? Cause I don't wanna share. But the grown ups say I can't have my own. Because it's not safe and cause they don't like logging in and out all the time
Hey - sorry for making you wait! I’ve been busy lately with work and school, so I’ve been waiting for some free time so I could think over this question.
Anyways... I personally think that littles interaction with social media / general Internet should be monitored. To some extent, of course. Ultimately, however, this is all subjective. What one system thinks is safe for their littles might be considered too lenient for another. Some systems outright ban littles from posting online!
So I feel that if a system decides that littles shouldn’t have their own blogs online, that’s a valid choice to make. Because it was made to benefit themselves and everyone else in the system.
However, I definitely see why you don’t want to share. You already have to share a body and mind with so many different people! I think most people would feel fed up or annoyed with that situation.
But the adults in your system are right - it isn’t safe for young children on the Internet to be left completely alone, especially for children in systems. Outside grown-ups may not always have the best intentions for you and your system, so it’s important to keep yourself safe online.
I would like to offer some suggestions that you and your system can consider, because you do deserve some place for yourself.
1. Have you ever thought about making a personal diary or journal? It can be a place where you can write down your thoughts, feelings, draw, share memories if you have them and even do some fun scrapbooking! Unlike social media, this’ll be completely private from others!
2. Sideblogs on Tumblr can be set as private (at least for desktop viewers), you can turn off popping up in Tumblr searches or google results and you can make all of your posts completely private or turn off replies / reblogs. Maybe you can have a short amount of time on this extra-private blog as long as one grown-up is there with you!
(Also, one thing we do for a blog meant for some of our younger members is that we’ll go through SFW tags and add a bunch of stuff we think they’ll like to the drafts, then we give the kiddos the draft as a makeshift “Dashboard” for them. So you don’t have to worry about NSFW jokes or adult media popping up for them!)
3. Make a cozy space outside of headspace if you can! Whether you make a blanket fort or make a special nook in the room for yourself, you can set an area for your own personal time. Enjoy spending time on what you like to do instead of fixating on social media!

Liquid Luck Drabble & Art Challenge | Survey Results
Hi!
First of all, a big thank you to the people that filled out the survey! ❤️
Here are the results! If you don’t feel like reading it all, scroll to the bottom and there are the results/changes in short.
1. Favourite / Least favourite prompts
The least favourite type of prompt turned out to be songs. I am not saying we will never have a song prompt again, because I still want to keep the option open for people to send in songs. But, because of it being the least favourite prompt, and phrases and quotes being one of the more popular prompts, I have decided to change things up.
From now on the prompt I post on the 16th won’t be ‘photo/art/song’, but ‘photo/art/song lyric’. Might sound like the same thing, but with song lyrics I mean one or two sentences. Say I pick Toxic by Britney Spears, the prompt could be for example ‘A guy like you should wear a warning’, or ‘ With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride’. If you like the quote/phrase prompts, see it as a random quote/phrase, absolutely no need to use the actual song or its meaning as inspiration. If you like song prompts, definitely feel free to use the whole song as the prompt. Hopefully this gives you more of a choice! And feel free to send in any lyrics you’d like to see as a prompt (preferably just one or two sentences).
2. Do you want to be tagged when there’s a new prompt?
So turns out most of you see all of the prompts, so that’s good! No need for a tag list just yet. But if Tumblr decides to change things up again and you start missing prompts, let me know and we’ll see again if a tag list is needed.
3. Do you prefer an ongoing challenge (like the Liquid Luck Drabble & Art Challenge) or events with a deadline (like Liquid Luck Never Have I Ever / Liquid Luck Roll The Dice)?
Most people answered both. So we are definitely keeping the Drabble & Art Challenge, and we’ll still have some of our inbetween events. Also, most people didn’t seem to prefer either a 1-month challenge or a longer challenge. So as I’m planning events, I’ll figure out what works best for each challenge.
4. Would you like to see another round of Liquid Luck Roll The Dice Challenge or Liquid Luck Never Have I Ever?
Answers were split between Roll The Dice, Never Have I Ever, neither and both. So seeing as Roll The Dice got the most answers for now, we are definitely doing another round of that. We’re actually pretty close to starting the Winter Edition, so keep an eye out for that! And as for the rest, we’ll figure it out later. Maybe we’ll do another Never Have I Ever, maybe not. Maybe we’ll find a new challenge. Who knows. 🤷
5. What would be your preferred time of the year to have an event with a deadline?
Most people answered ‘I don’t care’, but a few people mentioned that they’d like there to be an option to combine it with other challenges. That is always an option for Liquid Luck challenges, so feel free to combine it with anything else you see (if the other mods are okay with it too). And the Winter Edition of Roll The Dice will be a longer challenge so hopefully it can be combined with a few other challenges over the coming months!
5. Any other thoughts?
I so appreciated your kind words, so thank you for that!! I also appreciated the negative feedback, and I will definitely take them on board. I’ve changed song prompts, I’m trying to plan things that are most liked. So hopefully that will make a small difference. There was, however, one comment I’m not sure what to do with. Maybe others can help out with this? People mentioned that there is just not enough interaction with het/gen works in this challenge. Now, I’m posting prompts and sharing this challenge everywhere I can think of, hoping that it will make people come to the blog and check out all the works. But, unfortunately there is indeed very little interaction (likes, reblogs etc.), and not just for gen/het works, but for 99% of the works. I have no idea what else I can do, so maybe I can ask people to share the works they like, or to share some prompts to hopefully help grow our little challenge and make more people come to the blog and check out the works? Or if anyone has other suggestions, definitely let me know! I don’t want people to create something and feel like it’s not appreciated, so if anyone has suggestions, please let me know.
In Short :
Song prompts will be song lyric prompts from now on, for now there will be no tag list, and a new round of Liquid Luck Roll The Dice is coming soon!

Late submissions are absolutely okay! There is no deadline on this, so take it easy! It's just a fun activity in the end (and an excuse to have more training trio content in general out there)
Following the prompts is encouraged, but optional! If you can’t make art for the whole event or can only do one or a few, feel free to post Training Trio related art under the event tag to be boosted on this blog!
No NSFW art! Tumblr doesn’t allow NSFW Art in its TOS (but if you're posting Outside of Tumblr you may do as you please). It should be fine to link NSFW writing back on tumblr though!
The trio can be depicted as Platonic or Romantic! Either interpretation of them is fine, but there should be no arguing or hating on each other’s opinions/choices.
Personal headcanons of the trio are allowed! Be it appearance, gender, age, ethnicity, etc. Please respect each other’s artworks and interpretations for this event.

THIRTEEN: An Unofficial Fanzine - One Last Trip
Hello again!
We are SO excited to release our timeline for applications and the official guidelines! You can view our guidelines by clicking here, or by reading under the cut.
Quick summary: submissions open Oct. 31st and close right after the New Years special (we hope!)
Full details:
On October 31st, 2021, submissions will OPEN!
Applications are done through Google Forms, and communication with the mod team and with other participants will be through Discord. You are not required to join Discord, but providing us with an email is required.
All applicants will be asked to submit a portfolio of multiple works. This can be a Google Drive folder, a link to a Tumblr dedicated to art, a link to an AO3 page, or any other form you would like. We are asking for at least 3 pieces, but from there you can submit as many as you want. These do not have to be public pieces - you are free to link us to Word or Google documents that are not published.
Very important: when you send us your portfolio, it must include something Doctor Who related. In previous years we have received many more applicants than we could accept, some of whom wrote amazing prose or created beautiful art but didn’t have any Doctor Who related examples. Sadly, due to the amount of applicants we get, we will have to automatically reject anyone who doesn’t submit Doctor Who related material this time around.
On January 2nd, 2022, submissions will CLOSE
Yes, that is a very long submission window! Usually, we try to line up the fanzine to happen right after a series has ended, and only keep submissions open for a couple of weeks. This time around, we wanted to get started early since the BBC is being so quiet about a premiere, and aim to start making the fanzine right after what will hopefully be a New Years special.
Your submission must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on the 2nd.
The editors will then take a week to go through all of your wonderful applications, and responses will go out one week later on January 9th. You will receive an email response whether you are accepted or not.
In your acceptance email, you will receive a link to a Discord server where most of our discussion will take place, and we will begin working on the zine!
What will you be creating?
Accepted artists will create an original, exclusive piece within two months of acceptance (exact date will be released in the future). You will not have to get mod approval for your idea, but we will of course be here to provide feedback or assistance as needed.

Accepted writers will create an original, exclusive fic around 2500 words, absolute maximum of 3000, within two months of acceptance (exact date will be released in the future). You will not need to get mod approval for your idea, but your final fic will be copy edited.
You are more than welcome to apply to be both an artist and a writer! But due to space, you will only be accepted as one of them. If you do apply for both, the editors will make the choice as to whether you will be accepted as a writer or an artist, and will let you know accordingly.
Once you are accepted, other details and guidelines:
Final pieces must feature the 13th Doctor. Feel free to ship her with any other character, or depict her with any past companion, Master, or other Doctor, but she must be the focus.
Please make sure that the piece you submit has never been posted anywhere else. After the fanzine is no longer on sale, you will of course be free to do with your piece whatever you would like!
Keep things at a T or lower rating. Basically, whatever would be acceptable on the show is acceptable for the zine. That means nothing explicitly sexual, no extreme gore or violence, no nudity. And, though this should go without saying, nothing illegal, so no depictions of incest, non-con, beastiality, etc.
All applicants will also have the option to apply to design the cover - including writers! Along with your portfolio of art, you will be asked if you would like to be considered to design the cover or not. This will not affect whether or not you get in, just whether we consider you for the cover art. It is a more involved project, and will require a front cover, back cover, and two inside covers (though the insides can be very simple).
You would design the cover instead of a piece of art for the inside of the zine. You will have to get mod approval, while regular art does not need mod approval.
All participants will receive a free e-copy of the zine, and the option to purchase a heavily discounted physical version. The artist selected to design the cover will receive a free physical version as well.
