Monkey Man (2024)

An anonymous young man unleashes a campaign of vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and continue to systemically victimize the poor and powerless.

This is a fantastic, original, and action-packed debut by Dev Patel, the newly minted director. Some parts of it, which included the flashback scenes, dragged on and felt a little repetitive, but overall this is a very good movie which felt original and set in an Indian city. So, the new location and different scenery, plus the very good soundtrack as well as the fight scenes, made for an exciting movie experience.

Until now, I had not seen Dev Patel as an action hero, but he really was excellent in it. Also, I liked that it had a bit of story rather than just mindless fight scenes.

I look forward to watching what Dev Patel does next. Kudos to him for coming up with an original story. Fans of 'John Wick' may enjoy this too.

I swear Hollywood will really sit up here and make 17 movies about some freaking toys. But when someone comes along with an actual phenomenal and original movie idea. They are so quick to shoot it down unless it's a streaming service. Like I swear all the original movie ideas that do slip through the crack and are brought to life. It's either a streaming service behind it or an indie film studio.

P.S.

I have nothing against the Barbie movie I'm going to go see it when it comes out because it does look entertaining. I'm just making a point.

"Hollywood doesn't have original ideas" here and "they don't make original movies there".

There's countless movie production studios out there, with the possibility of releasing a movie not only in theatres, but also on streaming services and stuff, and sometimes even on social platforms like YouTube.

You all just act like the few movies that get enough news relevance to be mentioned and referenced countless times are the only movies that come out.

Not to mention, it's not like ONLY Hollywood makes movies. You get the chance to see movies made all over the World. You want to watch an original movie? It shouldn't be THAT hard to find one
