Note
I saw your post about writing for Poirot and would you take requests (happy to make it more platonic ofc!) 👀
I do take requests! 🤭🍓 Sorry for the late reply I wanted to put a small imagine with my answer.
Sweet sad memories
Tumblr media
◇ Pairing: Hercule Poirot X assistant!Reader
◇ Warnings: it can be seen or platonic or romantic (you choose how to see it), mention of sadness, illness and memories
◇ Summary: Hercule Poirot brings his new assistant with him on the Orient Express.
◇ Note: Sorry for the mistakes and the English.

As Hercule's eye lingered— with a certain affection— on your cleavage, focusing on the necklace you kept always around your neck, his thoughts flought back to Katherine, his beloved lady, the woman with whom he shared his most intense love.
He was lost in the memories just like his eyes when you opened your mouth, letting all your excited self out
"Mr. Poirot!" You greeted cheerfully, referring to your boss with his last name
"How's your room?" you added with a soft smile, you knew that he was feeling a bit ill that day and offered to help him put his things in his train bedroom but he refuses since he was too much of a gentle man.
The old man snapped out of his thoughts as soon as your voice reached his ears— he smiled warmly, glad to have such a positive friend beside him during that travel, but still lost a little in his memories.
"Very convenient... very luxurious... and yours?" He asked politely, his accent pretty heavy as he talked
"It's lovely!" You beamed, smiling excited "It's the first time I have a room in a train" you revealed as you watched the people pass by with enthusiasm before looking back at him
"I'm kind of hungry, would you like to come and eat something with me? We can head to the restaurant car" you offered with a smile.
Hercule smiled a bit more at his friend's enthusiasm, his expression was kind of tired and sad though
"I would be delighted. I am hungry too... But you go ahead and I will follow you... I need few minutes in the bathroom. My stomach is not very happy today" he informed you elegantly, noticing how your face showed a bit of worry
"I will fetch you a herbal tea then, Mr Poirot"
Hercule smiled warmly at you, then entered his room carefully— but not before looking again, with affection, at your necklace.

Merry Christmas, everyone! This is for Hale, part of The Mummy Discord group, as part of our Secret Santa!
Blizzard on the Orient Express
Austria, January 1929
Somewhere on the track between Zurich and Salzburg, the train slowed to a crawl. Snow poured down out of the sky in angry white sheets; wind buffeted the train back and forth as it crept along the track, mile by painful mile in the whiteout.
“Well,” Evie said, turning away from the window of their compartment, “I don’t think we’ll be reaching Salzburg on time.”
“Shame,” Rick replied. “I was so looking forward to climbing in the Alps.”
Evie grinned at him; if Rick was making jokes, she needn’t feel too worried just yet. But Alex, looking out the window at the blank white of the storm, looked round at his parents with wide eyes.
“Are we in trouble?”
“No, bucko,” Rick said, lifting their boy onto his lap, “we are inconvenienced, that’s all. We’re nice and safe on the train.”
Alex nodded; at three he was already a seasoned traveler, and still small enough to trust his parents’ words as fact. But Evie and Rick shared a glance over the top of his head: both recognized that the storm was getting worse and the train was getting slower, and who knew what would happen if they were trapped in the snow?
“Well, the Orient Express doesn’t just get snowed in ,” Rick said at last. “It’s far too expensive for that.”
Evie grinned a little; seven years together and Rick still couldn’t quite get used to luxury travel, even when it was the most practical way to go. They were heading to a conference in Budapest at which Evie had been invited to speak, and the Simplon Orient Express was by far the most sensible train to take, taking them as it did directly from Paris to Hungary. But they hadn’t counted on January in the Alps.
An hour into the storm, the train had stopped almost completely, and it was noticeably colder. They put their heavy sweaters on and walked down to the dining car for coffee and hot chocolate, talking lightly to keep their worry from Alex. It worked, too, or else it was the magic of the legendary train itself that had everyone in the dining car acting like they didn’t have a care in the world, the waiters showering Alex with biscuits and hot chocolate with cheerful smiling faces. Yet it wasn’t long after they had returned to their compartment, where despite the late hour the beds had not yet been turned out, that the announcement came: the train would be stopping–actually stopping –for the night to sit out the storm at a provincial station.
“Well damn,” Rick said, closing the door behind the porter, “it seems the Orient Express isn’t invincible, after all.”

Review: LEGO Ideas 21344 Orient Express Train
Wait a minute, wasn’t that supposed to be green? No, the real Orient Express was blue with stately gold inserts and that’s the color we get in the new LEGO Ideas set.
Tumblr media
I was lucky to have the set delivered to me by LEGO thanks to BrickCentral, for which I am very grateful. Everything you will read below is my own opinion.
Building
Building the set was a lot of fun, and the dedicated tracks (instead of standard LEGO tracks) are a very nice addition. At first glance of the box I already imagined this huge sheet of stickers and placed crookedly on the wagons. But there were very positive surprises: golden, even prints on the tiles. Bravo LEGO!! This adds a really huge exclusivity to an exclusive transport.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The interiors of the carriages are wonderful, spacious, and filled with details.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we come to one of the most important things, the Orient Express fits on regular tracks from any LEGO set which is brilliant news. The proportions of the wagons themselves are perfect, huge at almost 40 cm long each.
The disadvantage is some repeatability. We start by building a 120 cm long track and pass through 2 wagons that are the same from the outside and many steps are repeated, which is noticeable after time.
Details
The interiors of the wagons with “wooden” inserts look beautiful. The golden crowbar in the locomotive cabin is perfect, a hidden diamond in a cleverly designed chassis. I can go on and on about all these little details that make up the beautifully crafted set.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Minifigures
We get 8 minifigs here but I don’t think any of them will beat the porter and the cameraman, in my opinion. They are great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This does not mean that the others don’t stand out. Each is nicely set in an era with interesting accessories (the vintage camera is awesome) and style.
Tumblr media
I have the least sentiment towards the driver, but I respect him for his hard work which would be difficult in a tuxedo. Minifigures give the set this fun function, which means that the set is not just a “collector of dust” on the shelf, but a nice set to play with– my children confirm this 100%.
Summary
Orient Express is beautifully designed in terms of proportions and the spirit of the era, at least the carriages and minifigs. The locomotive/engine is the weakest part.
Tumblr media
In terms of photography, it’s tough to shoot because it’s loooong and repetitive. Is it worth buying? At 299 euros, it’s not my first choice, but you can’t go wrong buying it.
Tumblr media
You can seriously enjoy looking at it, unfasten the wagon from time to time, hold it, look at it, put it back and the world becomes more beautiful. But you can also build tracks, arrange minifigures, ride, and just have fun… that’s what LEGO is all about.
Age: 18+ Price: $299.99 / £259.99/ €299.99/ 469.99 AUD/ 2499 CNY / 121990 HUF Pieces: 2,540

Dear Thomas and friends,
Good news! I made it Paris safely and was able to get on board the orient express with no problems! The weather has been really rainy though but nothing that I am not used to (ha ha).
The express is more than I expected, the books don’t do it any justice, I actually feel like I’m in the book, “murder on the orient express”! It’s wonderful to experience the setting of your favorite book first hand!
Speaking of books, thank you Edward for recommending that murder mystery novel to me. I do enjoy reading it though I found the mystery part to be a bit much for my taste, the deaths mostly feel like they’re there for shock value. I do like the characters though and it is an engaging story.
Inky is currently sleeping next to me, he’s such a cute little Scotty dog! I can hear him snoring right next to me. He had a big dinner, same goes for me. I tried the lobster with creamy onion sauce and duchess potatoes. It was just splendid!
I can’t wait until we reach Istanbul. This trip has always been on my bucket list and I do not regret it at all, I had worked hard to save for this once in a lifetime trip, and I hope everything goes well.
Love Emily
P.S if I get word that anyone is causing trouble while I’m gone, I’m going to spoil the ending of Murder on the Orient Express.
