I think Mutant Mayhem is the first tmnt propriety to make Leo my favorite turtle right off the bat.
Not that I don’t like Leo anywhere else, but usually it takes me like a second rewatch or something to really pick apart Leo’s character in full to appreciate him- and even then he’s usually not my favorite.
But MM Leo is my favorite for reasons I cannot identify.
Maybe it’s the way he walks, his cringe fail personality, I don’t know but I care about this loser so much.
Idk he cares so much abt his siblings despite the fact that they can be so mean to him sometimes. He is also the one who continually pushes to do the right thing when theres nothing (or even sometimes worst things) to gain from it.
Even his attempts at being cool come off as dorkish but it’s charming in a way only little kids can be. In a ‘you’re doing your best sweetie’. Leo is a single mother of three while also being a teenage boy, that takes work.
He’s such a silent but calculating character, ironically when he doesn’t try so hard and does what he feels is right he gets the best results (ie his leader speech, the plan to be accepted, gaining the acceptance of other mutants) for all his fumbling and try hard attitude he has such natural potential it’s insane.

I love all the little hints in the Prince Keith au stuff you've posted so far that Keith can, on some level, Tell That Something Is Off (having a human face before he'd ever encountered humans, feeling a strong draw to Earth he can't explain, etc) and now I'm wondering, what would happen if he met Krolia?
Excellent question!
I think he definitely feels an odd sort of draw towards Krolia, that he can't really explain. He gets an odd sense of deja vu the first time he crosses paths with her, almost like he should know her. They've obviously got no connection, but he can't really shake the feeling.
He just sort of files it away with all of the other weird stuff that's always felt sort of out of place about him. Most of the time he chalks it up to being caused by the corruption he's carried in him since birth, even though he's also just as sure that definitely doesn't explain everything. But thinking about it has never really gotten anywhere, so most of the time he just ignores it.
He'll eventually learn the truth, but that just makes things a weird sort of awkward. What kind of relationship is he supposed to have with a women who was supposed to be his mother in this universe, but wasn't? It's not like she knows him. She's Blade of Marmora anyways, and he's the son of the Galra Emperor, even if he was never meant to be.

i did NOT linger on ch402-405 long enough because as far as i can tell katsuki brought himself back right before all might was brought over by all for one, right? but with the distance, he wouldn't have seen them, nor did he have any sufficient means of closing such a distance THAT fast. so how did he know to go to the ledge and observe below?
either those on the field told him where izuku was, or he heard izuku scream for all might. or BOTH - which is more plausible, because yes, he can trust izuku will win, but with all might in danger and dragged toward ua by all for one, it put everything in jeopardy.
and so what do you mean katsuki bakugou, dynamight, symbol of victory, likely heard izuku's cry for help from below, and charged straight to him - trusted that he would be pointed in the right direction? what do you MEAN he probably heard the desperation in izuku's voice the moment he breathed life again, and his first thoughts were; izuku is in trouble. all might is in trouble.
katsuki didn't even give himself time to live again before he went into another life-or-death fight, because what follows is that he doesn't just save all might from all for one's clutches. he goes to end all for one so he'll never achieve his goal.
because those two people are the largest testament to the man he's become, and he'll defend them with his life - like he did before.
i am unwell.

I’m wondering... what if we’ve been interpreting Pyrrha’s observation backwards? What if the stoma didn’t react to John because of his connection to the Resurrection Beasts, but rather the other way around? This whole time they’ve been reacting to the Resurrection Beasts because of their connection to John, and by extension Alecto.
It’s been bugging me that the thing that possessed Colum Asht gave him eyes black as the Emperor’s, before it turned them to stoma in his head. It’s been bugging me even more that it only stomafied him after coming into contact with Gideon. His eyes were black until Gideon attacked him, and then they turned to mouths in his head. Whatever was in Colum tried to eat Gideon, like the stoma eat Resurrection Beasts.
Then there’s another thing that’s been bugging me. Why, out of the hundreds of thousands of planets that John and his Empire have killed, are there only nine Resurrection Beasts? Why can the minor beasts Harrow creates be killed by a half-realised baby lyctor with a sword, while the Resurrection Beasts are literally unkillable? They have to be flayed to their cores and then shoved through the mouth of hell, where we don’t know what happens to them. That’s not a difference in scale, it’s a difference in nature. The Resurrection Beasts are just as immortal as Gideon, and the stoma reach for them both the same.
John is the connecting factor. John, and the power he derives from Alecto. The power which created the Resurrection Beasts, and which Gideon inherited a part of. The stoma aren’t after the Resurrection Beasts, not really; they want John. They want Alecto, and the power that enabled the Resurrection that’s still embedded in the souls of the planets that died for it.

Deku somehow gets teleported into Toshinori yagi’s timeline meets prime Torino and the 7th user of one for all they try and see how he got here and much of one for all he can control and he probably meets chiyo while he’s at it 😂
I already have something like this, though it’s less of a wip and more of a ‘eh, it has the trappings of a oneshot.’ So instead I’m just going to use this as an opportunity to spin other wheels, because, anon, this is another case of you giving me the outline instead of manifesting it yourself, for me to enjoy.
Villain Hunt!Izuku is arguing with All Might when he is slam-dunked into his mentor by a Time Displacement Quirk gone awry. The user’s motivation is that Deku is CLEARLY doing so much more than Small Might, so maybe Japan wouldn’t have gone to hell if Deku was in charge from the start! This has the intended consequence of Izuku being shot back in time to when Toshinori JUST received One for All at age thirteen.
This has the unfortunate, also intended consequence of Izuku possessing Toshinori’s body. He reacts as any traumatized teenager bearing the burden of the world would--that is, badly. Monitoring the situation is Nana and Sorahiko; the former is confused and scared for her would-be successor, and the latter is just ‘Of course this happens. Of course. That’s just our luck.’
Izuku has brought back the decades’ accumulated stockpile in One for All (vestiges included!), and it truly is a testament to Toshinori’s Quirkless genes that enable him NOT to break when Izuku lets fly his first Smash. Nana is flabbergasted. Sorahiko is reconsidering his early assessment of Toshinori-turned-Izuku. Then, Izuku taps into the rest of One for All, and all three of them proceed to have an intense discussion of (1) how to use this opportunity to demolish AfO, (2) whether or not young Toshinori remains, and if he can be retrieved, and (3) if Izuku is here permanently.
They relocate to Recovery Girl’s office in U.A. so she can run a physical on Izuku, and who do they find there but TOSHINORI, mid-50s, Quirkless as ever and vastly terrified of facing his dead oshishou and Prime Torino. The reunion is painfully awkward, except in the case of Toshinori seeing his younger self possessed by Izuku. There’s at least one joke about Izuku’s fanboyism going too far.
Toshinori is determined to meddle in this timeline, a period when governmental paperwork is practically ornamental and sooo easy to manipulate, especially when you have Nana (experienced in illegally redacting documents) and Sorahiko (unconcerned with things like ‘Hey, maybe murder isn’t the way’) by your side. The first thing he does is fish young Toshinori!Izuku out of the foster system, and claim him as his son.
Additional points of interest:
Toshinori also fosters Kotarou, and persuades him that there was a genuine danger that Nana had to protect him from, but don’t worry, it’s going to be taken care of and everything will be fine.
Toshinori takes control of the HPSC, and pulls Nana into it too. They endeavor to find some alternative way of keeping the pro-hero career alive and not gamified.
Izuku gets to be an even more feral teenager, trained by Prime Torino and Seventh Wonder, and actually sat down and tutored by Toshinori to make sure All Might, Pillar of Society, doesn’t become the ONLY Pillar of Society Japan will have.
Everyone scores a hit on AfO before he dies. Even Quirkless, mid-50s Toshinori.
Is Nanahiko a thing? Everyone’s wondering. Even Nana and Sorahiko.

Another Thing Wrong With The Former Gifted Kid Discourse, Since I Can't Stop Thinking About It:
people have such an unhelpful tendency to universalize their own experience when talking about the plights and struggles about Gifted Kids™—and what they are talking about is not necessarily invalid, but they're more often talking about their individual responses to their particular schools' policies. This Is Not A Systemic Analysis. it's helpful; i sympathize with you. But You Are Not Dismantling The Inequities by saying this or that happened At Your School when you were a child, and it affected you this or that way because of Who You Are.
example. i always see people talking about neurodivergence in this conversation, which is actually helpful in spotlighting how the Gifted Kid discourse often glosses over such complex intersectional issues. you can talk about how you were Gifted & Neurodivergent and how those experiences lead you to future disappointment. this is, i must stress, valid. but your analysis of your own life Is Not A Systemic Analysis. your experience alone will never speak for how the educational system and trends in policy among schools across the united states affect ALL neurodivergent people negatively because there are neurodivergent people who are Different From You. not to mention that when people point out that very often "Gifted Kid" usually correlates with some degrees of privilege, people push back and go nooooo I'm neurodivergent. people across all other marginalized identities who are systemically disadvantaged by the educational system can be neurodivergent. this does not make you, initially, when you were as a young Kid determined to be Gifted, NOT also in fact privileged.
if you are not ready to discuss experiences that were different from your own growing up, you aren't really engaging in the discourse of how to improve public education in the united states. it's a diiii-verse country we live in. not only in the ways we traditionally think of. when we think of "marginalized" or "oppressed" people, some specific and historically significant groups come to mind. when it comes to advantages that set up a child for future educational success, these broad categories often leave gaps because they lead people to generalizations, and ultimately, fatalism.
but there's really so much hope in early childhood education if we were to make things more equitable, ie like i always say UNIVERSAL PRE-K. these kids who are determined as "gifted" more often than not were just from more enriched home environments that prepared them for learning how to read, write, and do math. it's often not special innate abilities that leads to differences in outcomes for different students, but That's How The Kids Interpret It When Some of Them Are Called "Gifted." they're more often than not, not doing something that's truly exceptional or precocious for their age. they're displaying signs of age-appropriate development, when often, the kids who may be lagging behind them skill-wise just Haven't Practiced Those Skills As Much.
so yes, that's why there's a correlation in things like upper- and middle-class white kids being seemingly more successful in school (and more commonly deemed "gifted") at a young age. it's from privilege. it's not even just the implicit biases of their educators already working in their favor for their race and class. it's the fact that being more privileged, generally, means their family and parents had all of their basic needs provided for. they had more time to read with you. they could buy more development-promoting toys. they probably had better mental health to cope with the demands of child-rearing. if they suffered chronic or sudden physical health issues, they were insured. privileged children are usually less exposed at a younger age to the harshnesses of this world, as every child should be. ALL of these little advantages build up, in terms of what a child can be provided with before they go to school. anything that's going wrong in a child's family system can negatively impact them without them even being old enough to understand it.
you may not think of yourself as Privileged. you might prefer to think of yourself as Gifted. Gifted is so nice, even if it's demoted to Former Gifted. at one point you were told you were superior and it felt really good. and You, reader, i do not know You. i'm not calling You privileged, even if you are! hell, everyone's privileged in some way. i am at the point in the post where for transparency's sake i think i should say I Could Be What Some People Call "Former Gifted". i was called smart as a kid and given special homework sometimes etc. i'm not calling any Former Gifted people stupid for not realizing this either. what i mean is that this kids Are Not Usually Actually Gifted. this is a compliment given overwhelmingly to children who were just simply not deprived. when people say they were once Gifted, they're more often than not saying I Had The Early Opportunities To Learn Everyone Should Have, But Doesn't. this doesn't make you an outlier. It Might Just Be A Sign of Privilege.
