Family life with the yandere OC's
Tumblr media
A/N: a few of you have asked about having kids with the yanderes or already having kids when meeting them etc, so I figured I'll give my view on how they'd handle a family with you :)
Warnings: drugging, neglect, isolation, guns, threatening of beating up fifth graders,
Silas:
Things will change once you have kids. Oh, they’ll really change. For the better? Of course not. He’ll grow even more protective and possessive over you and your children. I can see him with three daughters of different ages. He’ll move from his two story house to a bigger one out in the countryside so you and your child can grow up far away from the city’s polluting atmosphere. He wants to be able to ‘taint’ his children himself, no one else. After all … if your kids start to talk about your home life at school … maybe someone will try to take them and you away from him.
As a father, Silas will be the ultimate deal. He'll be loving, playful and protective. He will give your daughters whatever they desire. All he wants is to see them happy. They will go to school under fake names to make sure that none of his enemies can find them. You better get ready for hell if someone (even from school) dares to hurt your daughters because Silas will do everything in his power to get rid of the ones that have the nerve.
"Daddy's home! Hi, my beautiful girls, i've missed you so, so much! Have you been good girls while daddy's been gone? Wonderful. Where's Y/N? Upstairs? Thank you. I have to go hug them too."
Tumblr media
Dr Kry:
Once you find out that you'll have twin girls, Dr Kry is quick to turn off the poisoned air purifier. He can't risk that anything happens to you or your kids. He'll move you from the hospital to his house in the woods. He wants his kids to grow up near nature, to care about the earth and its inhabitants. It's a perfect place too, there's no one around.
As a father, Dr Kry is strict and a bit harsh. He wants both his daughters to succeed and not be compared to one another. He will read for the family in front of your fireplace in the evenings and teach your kids things about the world. As much as he'd like to homeschool your twins, he can't do everything at the same time. He'll let them go to a private school that shares his beliefs and tutor them a bit on the side. He will support your kids in any way they need to affirm that they'll succeed in life.
He won't keep them sick, like he does with you … unless they figure out what he's done to you. He's done his best to indoctrinate your twins, but if his smart genes have passed on to them … then he'll have no other choice.
"Sweetpea, don't look at me like that. I have to do that! They know about what happened at the hospital. They know everything. They're smarter than I thought. Of course I love them! That's why I'm doing this! They're safe this way. If I can't create a world for them, then they'll have to stay home. They have each other, Y/N, they're okay. I will do anything to protect my family."
Tumblr media
King Edmund:
He’ll be joyful. Maybe not too much about having a kid … but because that part is over now. He won’t have to worry about not getting an heir. The castle will get more guards now that there’s a baby coming. Every corner will be baby proofed and every staircase will be watched. Every window will be locked and every door blocked off. You’ll have maids surrounding you everytime Edmund’s not close. He won’t risk a. single. damn. thing.
As a father, Edmund’s absent and strict. He expects his son to be a worthy heir and continue his legacy. If he doesn't, he'll be more than disappointed. He'll watch you play with him from afar with a smile on his face. Deep inside he really loves the child, but there's so much more on his shoulders than just raising a kid. He has to teach him so, so much. He can't be a failure.
He'll teach his son to protect you when he's gone. And your son will do everything to impress his father. If you thought that Edmund was suffocating, you haven't seen his offspring.
"Why that look, my dear? Our son wasn't letting you leave the room? He threatened a guard? Oh my … sounds like it's my kid afterall. I'm proud of him. Now I know you'll be in good hands when I'm gone."
Tumblr media
Jerry:
To be honest, Jerry doesn't want kids, but if she had one, it'd be a daughter. She knows she'll mess them up, she won't be a good mother. She's terrified of giving birth and hates toddlers. It'd be better if you already had a daughter / sister before Jerry laid her eyes on you. Wherever the child comes from, Jerry will take care of it her way. She'll teach her to protect herself and to fight. You'll notice that Jerry will be softer with her and do whatever the little girl wants. Bake a cake? Go shopping? Beat up some fifth graders? Jerry will bring her baseball bat.
Jerry will be more of a big sister / aunt, then a mother. She will move with you and the little girl to a new house to give all of you some more space. She will have her men watching the house at all times. You want to leave her, knowing that she's not good for the little girl, but the little girl seems so happy. She really thinks that Jerry is cool. Jerry will never let the two of you leave, she's never been this happy.
"Hi, baby boy/girl, how's it going? You're mad because you can't leave the house? Well, duh, it's for your safety. By the way, I brought our little girl to the shooting range. She needs to learn how to use a gun. What? No, I'm not making her into a mini-me! I'm creating a strong woman, like me. There's a difference. Now come over here with your cute, little body."
Tumblr media
Hedwig:
Hedwig will live a traditional rich home life. Two kids, a boy and a girl, nannies, maids, chefs, everything. The four of you will have moved to another house that her family owns. The kids will go to expensive private schools and get taught by the best of the best. Hedwig will spoil them, just like she was. You'll not get to have a job and will stay home with Hedwig. She wants you to 'go full on out on your hobbies'. The only time you're allowed outside is when Hedwig’s with you. Never alone, especially never alone with the kids. You could run away with them.
As a mother, Hedwig will be present and understanding. She will stay home for the most time and will always be available. She has assistants for a reason. She'll listen to all of your kids' problems and stand up for them, even if they're at fault. Her kids can't do anything wrong. If they act spoiled and ungrateful, however … she will cut off all allowance until they understand how lucky they are. You'll do a lot of trips and go on a lot of vacations. Your kids will have a lot of freedom, but you will be wrapped around Hedwig’s expensive finger.
"Ah, they got in trouble in school again. I have to go get them. Some kid accused our son of throwing a ball in their face. I don't think our little boy could ever do that. No, sweetheart, please stay at home. I will take care of this. You shouldn't lift a finger. I love you, stay here. When i come home we can watch a movie, okay? Perfect!"

Tumblr media
ayato !
The beloved and exciting math teacher
Along with you, the engaging history teacher
Together, you create an engaging environment for all your shared students
And though you thought no one knew of your marriage, the students mentioned how obvious it was
After all, the two of you are normally seen together around the school
You both laughed it off and even tell stories to the students if they're interested
Ayato loves doing his lesson plans with you
Motivating each other to get them done while also making the learning fun and engaging
Plus, it’s better to ask for a second opinion
Now, he knows that calling out of work is not good
But there are some days where you both will get subs for your classes to spend a much needed break or day out together
Most of it comes from your vacation days but some may come from those sick days
What can you say? Ayato is one needy person sometimes, it’s quite adorable
Speaking of needy, the two of you are so close you even have classrooms next to each other
It’s convenient for students who need to get between the two of your classes quickly
Sometimes, the two of you will both stand outside your door greeting students just to see each other
Some of your students will talk to you both at the same time just to hear some of the playful teasing and banter that goes on between you two
The dynamic you two share is something the teens get a kick out of
Who were you both to deny them something that brings them joy in a learning environment?
Overall, working and teaching together is fun for you both, and you both enjoy what you do!
“Alright, now that the game is set up, please get to playing with your partners!”
The room instantly fills with chatter as your students begin playing the board game you set up. It was a history lesson game, something to help them remember the information for the coming test. You begin walking around the room, chatting happily with the students.
Over on the side, Ayato leans on the frame of your door while staring towards you. His class today was called to take yearbook pictures, so he had nothing particular to do. Why not pay a visit to his beloved?
He admired the way you were engaging with your class. Pointing out small details, laughing with them, overall making the class environment warm and welcoming. You had such a caring and happy nature, it’s just one of the many reasons he fell so deeply in love with you.
You glance up and finally meet his eye. Your smile grows wider as you say something to the kid you were helping before walking towards him.
“Don’t you have a class, Mr. Kamisato?” You question with a teasing tone.
He smiled down at you. “Can’t a man learn the basics of high school history?”
“Maybe. Though I might not be the best teacher for the job.”
“Oh?” Your husband questioned, bending down to your level. “But you’re the best teacher in the world. Who better for the job?”
You couldn’t help but flush at the flattering words. “Sounds like a bias. Now, what would you like for lunch today?”
Before the man could answer, a student called for you. You call out a ‘be right there’ before turning back to Ayato.
“Sorry, I gotta help them. But text me what you want, okay? It’s on me today.”
Ayato nodded, giving your hand a squeeze before you rush off to do your job. He admired the way you try to divide your attention, always making time for him and your students at the same time. This applied with home life too, whether it be helping him or grading your own papers. Your husband was so smitten for you, he wanted a nice lunch to give you a small break.
Now he just had to ask for your favourite meal for lunch to spend the best time together after class.
childe !
The hyper physical education teacher
Along with you, the nice french teacher
The two of you are THE teachers to get
The common “Yeah! Their classes are easy!” and “When they’re happy they give out extra credit!”
Which was exactly right
The two of you mentioned your marriage briefly on the first day, and the students wanted to know it all
Ajax loves to brag about you and how amazing you and your class is
Sure you do the same, but not as much as he does
On your off periods, you’ll join him and his students outside to help out with anything he needs
He appreciates the help, but loves spending that time together way more than anything
You’re always encouraging him to join you at school events and gatherings
Conferences, games, plays, you name it, you drag him to go to support the school
Speaking of sports, he coaches both the baseball and basketball teams
After school practices don’t bother you; after all you sit by his stuff and work on grading papers while he’s busy
Before you leave in the morning, you also check to make sure you both have everything
He’s quite forgetful with a lot to bring, but luckily he has you to help!
He’s also very encouraging in the nights you have a lot to grade for the next
He will make you a warm drink and play music while sitting with you to help you stay sane during it all
You have zero complaints about teacher life with your husband, and you wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world
“Alright, one lap around! Then practice is over!”
Ajax watched as the group took off for their cooldown lap, a sigh escaping his lips. It was a hot day, he couldn’t deny that. But he still had to keep the same routine going. The man simply made it shorter than normal.
Once practice was finished and the students packed up, you walk over to him, carrying his bottle of water. “Drink some water, darling. You’ve been sweating your arms off.”
“Oh! Thank you.” He responded, sending a wink your way before drinking the water.
You smile back and gather up his stuff for him. Ajax had some paperwork to fill out quickly like always. You were simply helping him out, which he greatly appreciates.
Once he finished, he met you outside the obvious to begin the drive home. He insisted on driving, leaving you to relax comfortably after a long day.
“Do you have to grade tonight?” Your husband questioned, holding your hand on the center console.
You let out a small hum of acknowledgment. “Unfortunately. Grades are due soon so I need to stay on top of it.”
“Alright, I’ll make dinner then. It’ll be a surprise.”
You already knew he was going to make your favourite meal. But you kept quiet, only smiling in response.
Once you made it home, you immediately made your way to your office, beginning your workload. Luckily it wasn’t as much as some other days, but it was still quite a but. Curse you for putting off your work till the end of the week.
In the kitchen, Childe is quietly listening to music, making up a nice dinner. He wants to spoil you of course, so he makes everything to the best of his ability. Even lights a few candles and places some flowers on the table to surprise you!
Once he’s finished, he goes to your office, massaging out your sore muscles and requesting you come eat and take a break. You do, and of course you are pleasantly surprised at everything he did for you.
“Only the best for you, my favourite teacher.” He says, planting a kiss on your forehead. “Now, let’s enjoy this night and weekend, alright?”
kaeya !
The mysterious health teacher
Along with you, the silly band teacher
Honestly, your students had no time to even question your relationship
On the first day Kaeya let everyone know the two of you were married in his “get to know me” presentation
“And this is my amazing partner, [Name]! They also teach here as the band teacher!”
At the student-teacher baseball game you once held, he told you he’d make a home-run, just for you
…he did not make a home-run
Cue the relentless teasing from you and even some of his students for losing the match
But don’t worry, you’re still proud of him regardless
He’s also very proud of you and all that you do!
You have a very successful band and you’ve won quite a few competitions in your years there
A lot of the school knows you from being quiet.. the character of a teacher
You’re always proposing fun ideas and activities that would blow people away
And Kaeya only encourages everything you want to do
He's your biggest supporter after all!
His favourite thing to do is take you on vacation during school breaks
Break is for everyone so you both deserve the time to relax without having to worry about every one of your students
He's also very much a gentleman to you on and off campus
He dotes upon you, holds open the door for you, all of that jazz
He's practically the perfect teacher while also being the perfect husband
The last school bell finally rang, and you let out a sig of relief. There was a lot to do before the competition tomorrow, and you needn't spare any time. After your students left the room, you got to work taking out the necessary instruments and materials.
Not too far from your room was Kaeya, who just finished his last class as well. He dropped by the office to grab your papers for you and wanted to surprise you.
He didn't expect to come to the room in such chaos.
"I know competitions are stressful but normally it doesn't take place before the competing.." He said, setting the papers on your desk.
You sigh and stand straight up. "Excuse the mess, but I forgot to ask students to help during lunch! There's nearly no time!"
Kaeya could sense the slight panic in your tone. He knew you didn't want to let anyone down by not being prepared, but he was worried. Watching you run around like a chicken with your head cut off was not the best sight in the world.
"Alright, firstly why don't we calm down?" Your husband says, walking to stand in front of you. "Some deep breaths, okay? Then we'll assess what we need to do."
Despite not wanting to stop working, you saw that look Kaeya was giving. You sigh and take a deep breath, allowing your body to relax and feel content. Your head drops to his shoulder as you groan.
"What would I do without you, Kae? I need to be more organized.."
Kaeya chuckled, patting your back. "Nonsense! Now, let's get to work! What needs to be done?"
The real question was what didn't. Instruments needed to be set out, permission slips needed to be counted, and lunches had to be prepared and discussed with the kitchen staff. There was also more to do, but those were your main concerns.
"Easy enough, let's get started then!"
And spon enough, everything you were so stressed about doing alone was done in a simple two hours. You were oh so grateful for your husband who volunteered his time to help you. You even promised him a nice dinner tonight at his favourite restaurant. Considering it a thank you, while he considers it to be a pre-competition celebration. Either way, you wouldn't pass up an amazing opportunity to have a nice night with your lover.
Kaeya couldn' help but admire your commitment to getting things done for your students. You were such a caring and dedicated teacher, whether the students saw it or not. Though you may be titled 'The Crazy One' around there, Kaeya is glad to be able to see past that. A vulnerable place that no one else could see. Because you trust him to help you be the best version of yourself. And that's something he will protect with everything in him.
pantalone !
The clever economics teacher
Along with you, the kind and collected math teacher
The two of you were like puzzle pieces that simply fit together
His students and yours would always make little plots to get you two to see each other before they knew you were married
Once you both saw through their plans, you decided to mess with them a little
You pretended that their plan worked and you were both going on a date that weekend
When they asked how it went, you tell them that it went so well, you both got married!
Once the initial shock wore off you both explained the joke and laughed at their attempts
He absolutely loves showing up to meetings with you
Sitting next to you, asking your opinion on a lot of things, and ensuring you’re involved overall
Oh and he will never accept anything unless he knows you will to
“Would you mind chaperoning the school dance?”
“Let me check with [Name] beforehand.”
And despite being on a teacher salary, the man is still very much rich
He will always leave little gifts on your desk before school or during lunch
Some common ones include flowers, jewelry, and your favourite snacks
He also likes it when your lesson plans connect
So if he’s teaching the value of bank interest, you’re teaching calculations of interest rate that same day
Just an easy way to help students remember the lessons you both taught
Your life together is calm and simple, but you find the little things to enjoy and share that joy you both have
Pantalone gives curt greetings to all the students that wave ‘hello’ to him. Most of them are his students taking his class while others knew of him through the school talk.
He finally arrived at his destination; your room. He gently knocks and hears a confirmation that he may enter. You knew it was him, so you can simply yell for him to let himself in.
A smile graces the man's lips when he walks inside, the calm atmosphere always welcoming him. Your husband walks to you, planting a kiss on your forehead.
"Busy?" He questions, noting the stack of papers and a red pen off to the side.
You smile, leaning back to look up at him. "Almost. I was going to get started."
He hums in acknowledgment at your words. Next, he reaches into his bookbag, pulling out a small black box. Pantalone bends over next to you, holding it out.
"A gift.. for you and your hard work, my beloved."
You let out a small sigh and chuckle. "Again? I received one today already!" You say in exasperation.
Although Pantalone's normal routine consisted of only gifting his darling one gift, he couldn't help but want to spoil you today. Of course this urge is there nearly everyday. But it's how he shows his love and adoration for you. You both know he's not the best with affectionate words, but his gifts convey things that words could never.
"Forgive me, but I saw this and immediately thought of you."
Opening up the box, your eyes are met with a gorgeous emerald ring. The design was intricate and you can only imagine the cost. But bringing that up to your husband would be futile. The present was perfect and you couldn't be more thankful.
"Thank you, my dear." You say, leaning up to place a gentle kiss on his lips. "You know, my students will notice it tomorrow."
To that, Pantalone can only chuckle. "I hope they compliment it then. Now, how about we go home and work on these papers, hm?"

Been a while since we've heard, how did your readthrough of the Harry Potter books go?
Hey! Ho! I forgot to update on that didn't I? My bad!
I haven't worked out all my feelings about it! The last book was so...odd. I felt frustrated through the whole thing. Most of the books felt like you were waiting to figure stuff out—the main characters would try to get information and solve problems and fail or cause more problems in the process, but there was usually some secondary goal they consistently had hope in. Like, maybe Harry Potter can't figure out who's trying to kill him, and has constant setbacks in that. BUT, their secondary goal, winning the Tri-Wizard Cup, is usually...hopeful. They're usually doing well with one of their two main goals, and then the climax happens, and they lose something important, but ultimately ene on a hopeful note. You know, Harry wins the Tri-Wizard Cup, but Voldemort's back and Cedric is dead, that sort of thing.
But. In the conclusion of the series, it felt like the main characters were getting nowhere, in their primary goals AND their secondary goals, for so long. Then the ending, the pacing of it all, felt rushed. And I didn't love the plot device of the Elder Wand, or how in the climax of the book, when Harry is fighting Voldemort, they stop to have like a twenty-minute conversation about all the exposition the reader needs to know to understand how Harry is about to beat him—and Harry was basically insufferable for the whole book.
that was my initial impression. It might age better if I go back and re-read. I definitely like some of the Messianic notes of Harry dying for everybody—then picking his life back up again to defeat the bad guy once and for all.
and they killed Lupin. Which. He's my favorite I thought he had the most interesting "character arc" of any of the adult characters. It seemed like his biggest fear was inadequacy as a father, heightened by the fact that he's a werewolf, so he thought he'd make his son's life harder and more shameful by even being alive...so as part of that interesting character flaw, Lupin tries to kamikaze by going on the run with Harry. Then he goes back and resolves to live with his wife (who he wrestles with the safety of loving) and child (same wrestling match) because being present as a father and husband is the right thing to do, regardless of how difficult it is for you.
And then he dies anyway.
So it's like. What the heck was the point of that? Makes the lesson he, as a character, was teaching, hollow. Like "Living as a good father is harder than dying a martyr—but I'm dead, so I don't have to worry about that, I guess the thought was what counted."
And people will say to me "nooo he was willing to take risks and sacrifice! He sacrificed his life! To make a better world for his son!"
Yeah okay but we already had self-sacrificial love impacting an orphan's life through the death of parents in the main character. Lily and James Potter did that. Already got that lesson. Now tell a story about how just going on and living your life for someone, say to day, especially when it's hard and they might not thank you for it, is also self-sacrificial. I thought that was the mini-story Lupin's character was telling, on the side of the main plot. But then no, Rowling just repeats herself. She just starts an interesting thing and then finishes it in the least-interesting way.
I feel like one of the basics of storytelling is "create a character that needs to learn something. Then put them through the hardest circumstances so that they're forced to change into what they need to learn." Dying in battle was not Lupin's hardest circumstance. You know what would've been? Killing Tonks, his wife, so that he's forced to raise their son alone and still stay—or keeping them both alive, but Lupin's curse is worse than ever after the battle. Or just simply keeping them both alive, and putting a little nod in the epilogue to how Harry's kids defend Lupin's son from bullies, and it's hinted at that society still doesn't accept werewolves and their lives aren't perfect, but they're all sticking around for each other.
I mean you don't even get to have Tonks react to Lupin's death. And the only Weasley that was killed was one of the twins—don't get me wrong, that's still horrible. But if you're trying to make a point about the losses of war, kill a character who is one-of-a-kind to the audience...not one-of-two.
Also, the thing with Snape and Lily didn't hit. Haven't analyzed why, yet. There's something to be learned about showing and telling there. I mean, what the author showed me for seven books was a mean and nasty man who loved nothing. I experienced it with Harry. I tasted the sting of the insults and the cruel remarks and the unfairness. For seven books. You know what's less powerful? A handful of pages quickly info-dumping the idea that no, he was in love and acting out of unrequited love all along. Like anti-heroic Snape is a compelling idea to be told about, but it's not nearly as strong as the experience of being shown villainous Snape, moment by moment, book by book.
Same thing with Dumbledore's emotional reveal of his own history. Like. Okay. But you only just now told me I should care about Dumbledore's family, in the last half of the last book. I don't feel as badly about him and his family as I would've if you'd slowly shown me who they were, even in memory, for the last seven books—like she did super well with Lily and James and Sirius.
anyway. Those are my half-baked thoughts. I was also...running a super high fever and reading the last few chapters at 1 in the morning, at the time. So they're super underdone thoughts. Thanks for asking!

He's a cult leader (part 8) (kai Anderson x fem reader)
Tumblr media
Summary:y/n moved back to Michigan after her college degree in music where she reunites with an old lover kai Anderson
Warnings: murder, mass shooting, mentions of suicide
A/n: for the people who sent requests I apologise it's taken a while to write them I have been busy with college hopefully have one or two up tomorrow 😊
Part 7 here
•¤❅¤•.•°˚˚°•..•°˚˚°•.•¤❅¤•.•¤❅¤•.•°˚˚°•. .•°˚˚°
"Everyone got everything ready?" You asked shoving your black boots on your feet, "yes" everyone replied with their masks on, you shoved your clown mask under you arm as kai went over everything one last time.
"We take out Sally and if anyone else is in there they meet the same fate" he said winter and Meadow already doing their part of the plan, leaving the rest on their merry way.
The mask now over your head hopping into the van Harrison driving to Sally's house, you and kai sat together masks now off, you were humming a tune kai didn't recall, "what songs that?" He asked, he always loved your passion for music even if you never wanted to be famous it was an outlet for you something to teach the kids you worked with.
"It's something I'm sort of working on not quite finished yet" you chuckled lightly, you felt like charles manson when kai would have you sing your songs to the cult them now memorising all the words, you didn't necessarily hate it glad they actually liked the shitty songs you called them.
"It will be great your really talented" he said something you heard him say to Meadow when she showed him her art work, you gave him a small smile his hand on your thigh, "we're almost there" Harrison called everyone putting their masks on including you.
"Ready baby?" Kai asked his voice muffled from his mask, "Let's do this" you replied as the van came to a halt, one by one you all stepped out and invaded the home of kai's opponent.
Entering the home greeted with Sally holding a gun, watching us as she pointed the gun, "please one of you assholes make a move, I'm desperate to make an example of someone" she said before someone came up behind her taking the gun off her holding her mouth closed knocking her to the ground.
Kai stood above her removing his mask, you watched him as he talked "you know what the problem is with you over educated elites?".
"You overestimate your ability to control the world" "killing me isn't going to stop the march of progress" Sally stated on the ground she wasn't in fear well visibly anyway.
"Maybe but it still going to feel so fucking good" kai said looking down at her "this is a spazim in democracy your nothing but a passing fever" she yelled at kai he just grinned evilly at her.
"And your the last of the intellectuals"
"Knowing stuff has no value anymore not when the answer is sitting in my back pocket or sitting on my desk" he said walking away you held keffler down as he went over to her laptop.
"The youth has it figured out the future will be filled with beautiful idiots who just want to feel" he continues looking at the screen of Sally's laptop.
"Facebook?" He asked now his attention on the screen, "you are old" he stated clicking on god knows what, "can I please kill her" you said now annoyed at her wriggling under you, "no, no y/n too sloppy we have to send a message with Sally that the world she knows is dead" kai said now making a Facebook status on Sally's unwilling behalf.
He clicked on the keypad as he voiced what he was typing on Facebook "dear followers and friends, tonight after many long nights of careful thinking, I have come to realise something that the truths we have always held to be self evident, all men are created equal, knowledge is power, ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country, they are all bullshit the future will be guided by self interest, self promotion and narcissism, and that is a future I can not stand and so this is my suicide note" kai said finishing off the status.
"NO, NO no please" Sally begged now in full fear of her life "already getting some likes" kai shrugged nonchalant taking a swig of whatever Sally had in her mug, "nobody going to believe that" Sally said trying to get out of yours and the others grasp, "mhmm of course they will" kai said turning around to us, "it's on Facebook".
"No, no" Sally tried to get out the grasp she was under kai walked over to her, gun in hand, he looked over to you as he placed the barrel of the gun on her chest, "wanna help?" He asked with a smirk you finger on top of his on the trigger as you pulled killing Sally keffler.
You felt nothing now used to doing this with kai, you knew you hated it but did nothing too lovesick to stop that was kai's disease making his followers that loyal it's like their lovesick ivy went off to search the house, you got off keffler kai pulling your mask off grabbing you smashing his lips onto yours infront of everyone, his tongue entering your mouth in the rough make out session.
Pulling away for air you were flustered as kai wiped down anything he touched just incase, you found the blunts that were laying on the table taking them for yourself, "no y/n no drugs" kai said, you let out a huff "it's just one kai won't hurt" you said taking one anyway not listening to him.
Putting your mask back on making sure you all were unseen as you hopped in the van going back home, again sat beside kai his eyes never left you as you talked with beverly hope, about something music related, he saw the passion in your eyes as you talked about something you loved, they same way they would light up in college when you got a chance to talk about music especially your favourite artists.
"You should play tonight y/n" Gary chimed in the conversation, "Yeah why not" you chuckled glancing over at kai who smiled down at you, you felt butterfly's in your stomach everytime kai looked at you like that with that glimmer in his eyes, you were so love sick it was unbelievable.
Kai felt the same he never wanted anything or anyone to hurt you, he wanted to spend the last of his days with you even all those years ago he felt like that and still does.
...
The day of Meadows attempt to shoot kai rolls along you dreaded it you couldn't bear to see kai in a hospital again, you stood in the crowd watching kai speak to the crowd the anxiety coursing through your body shaky hands trembling lip waiting on the dreaded moment.
You couldn't even hear what kai was talking about, you head spinning then, BANG, a gunshot fired hitting a woman close by you in the head, then straight at kai's thigh, you screamed in fear running up to kai as Meadow shot away.
Ally was screaming for Meadow to stop, on the ground you holding kai sobbing your eyes out you were scared for the first time in a long time you showed your fear not caring if you were weak, you didn't know what happened next all you saw was Meadow laying dead on the ground ally swarmed by police and an ambulance coming over to you and kai.
"Please get him to the hospital" you cried out the ambulance taking kai in the back of the vehicle, you stayed by his side panicking, you didn't Say anything on the ride to the hospital your eyes fixed on kai as the paramedics checked him over.
It all was happening too fast till it felt like it went on for years in the hospital, kai was in surgery you sat in the waiting room your leg bounced in anticipation waiting on the doctor giving you an update you had called winter telling her what happened even though she knew but giving her an update whenever you got one.
"Y/n y/l/n" a doctor said coming towards you, "how is he doctor will he be okay?" you asked standing up, "he'll be fine he'll need walking sticks for a while he's lucky he could have not been able to walk with that leg again" the doctor said "can i see him?" You asked the doctor sighed "not right now he's in rest once he wakes up and we do a few more checks on him then yes you can see him" you thanked the doctor leaving them to go back to what they were doing.
'Come on winter' you thought to yourself your leg bounced in anxiety you wanted to see kai even though you were told he's fine you still couldn't help but think he's not, how could you not a few hours ago he was shot in the leg.
The doors burst open revealing winter in panic, "y/n how is he is he okay" she asked frantically you placed your hands on her shoulders in attempt to calm winter down but it didn't help, "he's fine he'll need to use a walking stick for a while his leg will be in a cast he's lucky" you reported "I'll kill him with these bright ideas what was he playing at y/n what if she missed and killed him" winter broke down crying you hugged her letting all her emotions fall.
You were crying too, "I know win I wish he wasn't like this but the bittersweet part of it is that he's fine we can see him soon they want to do more checks on him once he's awake" you sighed wiping winters tears away, "you know y/n your like the sister I never had kai's really lucky to have you, you bring out the old him even for a second but I see it in his eyes when your around it's like I have my brother back" she smiled sadly.
"Maybe I just wish he was fully like the old kai but maybe one day if he isn't dead or in prison" you sobbed wiping your tears now, your head was going 100 miles an hour you felt dizzy needing to sit down.
"Hey we'll be okay hopefully there's no more crazy plan's he's nearly got what he wants" winter said as you looked blankly at the wall, with glassy eyes, "I don't think so winter" you sighed.

[Review] Vane (PS4)
Tumblr media
You're so Vane, you probably think this game is about you.
During The Last Guardian’s long periods of development hell, some staff left Team Ico entirely. Two individuals gathered with other developers, fellow foreigners working in Tokyo, who were tired of working in huge studios and wanted to create more personal projects. They were Friend & Foe Games… now with their website lapsed and social media feeds silent since 2019, I have to assume the studio has dissolved. But their legacy will be the unique and fascinating game Vane.
Calling Vane Ico-inspired doesn’t do it justice but there are some similarities: you spend a good chunk of the game as a child realistically navigating an enigmatic world and solving environmental puzzles. Only, the child is actually a bird. An interesting thing about Vane is that promotional materials only show about half the game, and it takes some turns as it goes on which I will spoil below, simply because the game reviewed poorly and doesn’t seem to get much attention, and maybe revealing more will entice some people to try it. Who knows.
Tumblr media
There are four phases to Vane. The first has you flying around an open world as a crow-like bird. The game gives very little explicit story or direction to the player, aside from occasional control prompts (much less intrusive than TLG’s frequent tooltips, I might add). Figuring out what to do feels nice as you experiment with the flight movement, gather a flock of birds, and release a golden orb from a ruin. The golden matter exudes floating triangles and contact with it transforms you into a childlike humanoid, while warping the landscape around it.
The warping and time-reversing effects of this matter play into a lot of puzzles going forward and are one of the coolest ideas the games has, but for now it serves to change your state. The accompanying graphical and technical effects are incredible though, as the geometry dynamically reshapes itself. It also exhibits stop-motion-like lowered framerate which effectively conveys the otherworldly quality of this technology. In other ways the game has visible polygons and limited colour palettes that make for a compelling and abstract atmosphere.
Tumblr media
The second phase plays with the transformation mechanic. In large underground caves amid wrecked mechanisms you will free other birds/children from imprisonment while swapping between the forms: the bird can fly and perch, while the child can push and pull things to progress. These chambers are large with multiple objectives but from here on the game becomes more linear in its structure. I wish this phase went on longer and indeed a Dualshockers interview with one of the devs outlines cut content that seems like it would have fit in this phase, but the game has more ideas it wants to try out and new settings to move the story on to, so it’s probably for the best for pacing reasons in this relatively short experience.
The third phase involves a massive timeshift, reverting the state of the world from the bleak wasteland to a metallic tower complex in the midst of a cataclysmic storm, which is also the context of a brief prologue sequence. At this point the bird form serves merely as a tool for scouting, with the bulk of this chapter seeing the child rolling around a large golden orb with the help of other kids. The orb has an effect similar to Zelda Skyward Sword’s timeshift stone boat, but more involved as it dynamically repairs parts of the damaged complex to allow you access. I got a bit lost a few times here but the game teaches you enough that with some experimentation it’s satisfying to solve, and ultimately you arrive within the tower itself…
Tumblr media
The fourth phase continues the theme of reshaping the world with the power of sound: before, shouting at the orb would extend its range but now you have access to a gold birdlike mask that can itself create paths through a surreal twisting interior space. The bird form is now inaccessible and the game narrows its traversable space in this phase but it’s in service of the story, depicting your final transformation. Ascending the tower sees the mask bond to you and after a memorable sequence of the ground chaotically forming paths and staircases in a void (a fantastic effect even if I fell through the floor a few times) you yourself become one of the ominous tall masked figures whose presence have loomed over proceedings through the previous phases.
A final choice closes the loop as the world dissolves into its phase 1 state and you ponder what it all means, and then you can start all over again (or choose from any of the phases). I did and had a great time hunting my missing achievements, including exploring an optional Ico-like area in phase 1.
Tumblr media
Thank you for indulging this more thorough than usual dive into the game’s events. I just thought that the different phases are so distinct that it was worth getting into how they play out. Vane is such a memorable experience, with so many great moments in its short runtime. The tone and look are incredible, and while I understand the choice of a sparse soundscape I wish it was more full of the hard techno that comes in sometimes. Maybe the crunch-heavy work environment described in the Dualshockers article was not the most healthy way to develop a game over five years, but it certainly resulted in an experience I'll be thinking about for a while.

status: part 3 of 3
((ooc: cws for noriko's General Behavior, mental child abuse, threats of violence, general High Stakes Pokemon shit, some generalized shit talking of ren and the blueberry academy, and some shady ass shit. mild description of body horror in the past tense. maybe a lil cw suggestive because noriko's coworker is a simp.
i would like to state in advance that i have no intention of bringing high stakes into the blueberry academy itself without consulting everyone first! this is. mostly just some stuff in ren's corner of the world of fuckery.))
[part one, part two]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Oh, hey, you're finally up and about. So, finally ready to admit that this wasn't as thought out as you thought it'd be?"
From the way Noriko chuckles at the peach haired woman, walking into the room with her back straightened and with ever calculated steps as her Gothitelle walks beside her, her answer is very likely already, but-- "Not a chance in the Distortion World, Camille."
"Ahhh, should'a known, should'a known. But that's what I like about you, Nori--you always stick with your gut. Even if it causes setbacks."
Noriko clicks her tongue a bit, chuckling once again before settling again as she walks toward the monitor Camille is watching. "I can assure you that I had everything properly planned for this, setbacks and all. I had plans at least up to the letter J that would have seen us through. It is the only reason I saw fit to act in the first place."
"Guess that makes sense. You're always a damn perfectionist when it comes to setting your plans in motion." Camille seems to stretch a bit, falling back into the old, somewhat beaten down rolling chair she called her workspace.
In front of her are no less than twelve monitors, tracking all sorts of things that Noriko wants an eye and ear on. Given how even with Noriko close by she's keeping track of whatever info she can find with ease, she's clearly pretty good at her job.
"One has to be, when you're doing work like this. Lysandre didn't teach us much, but I suppose I can thank his rash actions for teaching us all caution." Noriko looks to the screens, though, nodding her head in clear approval. "I understand you have a status report for me, is that correct...?"
"Damn right I do, boss lady! Heh. Getting into the kid's device was harder than expected, but I think you'll be pleased with what I snapped up." Camille quickly opens the two videos she took from earlier--the one of Ren's arrival, and the one of Madison's talk with the detective. Both get played, and both see Noriko's eyes narrow a bit as an amused expression takes her face. Camille only grins before she starts talking.
"Looks like the kid made it to Blueberry successfully--which is, y'know. Real fucking bad for our chances of getting the kid back to you. I've been trying to poke around the Blueberry servers for a while but that shit's locked tighter than the Aether Foundation's files. If anyone's gonna break into there, it'll have to be you. Which I'm guessin'..."
"...Is highly inconvenient at best, with everything considered. An outright terrible option, at worst, and one that would almost certainly blow this entire operation out of the water." Noriko sighs a bit, crossing her arms and looking to the feed where Madison hugs Ren with disgust. "...It is no matter, however."
"Yeah...?"
"Yes. Because if this plan goes correctly, I have no need to get the Blueberry Academy involved at all. Not that I would like to, considering that Director Cyrano has my utmost respect for creating such a passionate place for students to learn..."
Noriko leans over Camille, prompting a small flush and a pleased grin from the other, younger woman--no older than 30 by the looks of it, but probably much older. Noriko focuses on the feed with Madison talking to the detective instead. "No, Madison has offered us an even greater boon. If she can find a way down into our basement and to the old warp point I used to use to work between Flare Headquarters and Paldea, we should be able to intercept her and Jacques as they snoop around."
Noriko seems to pull a notebook out that carries a map within it of the house, and she places it down where Camille and she can both look. "The only way into the house is through the front door; I always ensured this when I bought the house long ago. It'd be far too risky for them to get into the basement any other way without risking structural integrity, so once they're ensnared, we can block their escape by breaking into the house ourselves. And if we do it quickly enough, the ball will be in our field."
"Okay, I like where this is going. Gonna let me break some limbs on 'em?"
That gets Noriko to laugh a bit, her look going darkly amused. "Do what you will with them. Jacques has always been rather delicate, so he might not be much fun for you. But Madison...go for her hands. I'm sure it'll be nostalgic for her."
"You are always so good to me." And boy, does Camille look smug as she lets that out, grinning with just a little too many teeth out to look sane. "But what about the kid? Ain't they your primary objective?"
"Oh, you think that the second Ren sees their so-called friends in danger that they won't act rashly?" Noriko's smile goes wretched, something in her eyes completely gone cruel in nature. "Why, I wager that even if the academy tries to prevent their escape, they'll take a joyride on a Pokemon and leave it in Xerneas' hands."
"We won't have to worry about them not falling for the bait. Their good heart will see them right where I need them to be."
And that gets Camille to laugh--ever barking laughter that fills the room, and finally, the camera at least pans out to some of the other workers around. It looks like a couple dozen at the very least...
"And this is why I love you, babe! Even if this goes to shit, this is going to be a wild as fuck ride, and I'm here to see it to the end!"
Noriko's look goes slightly exasperated, shaking her head, but she smiles. "Your 'here for a good time, not a long time' mindset isn't exactly good when you're effectively immortal, you know."
"Eh. Good luck gettin' me to let it go. So. When should we be expected to pick up the operation?"
Noriko looks back over the feeds again, pausing a bit as she considers. "...Send a copy of both files to my office. I want to take a personal look through them, and then I can see what we need to do. I imagine we'll have a somewhat flexible time range with this, considering how busy both she and Jacques tend to be, but..."
"I will ask you to simply hold, for now. Focus on training the grunts and seeing if you can't find an easier way into the Blueberry database. I can't imagine Director Cyrano will actually be able to do anything if we act, but if we can at least ensure he doesn't interfere...that will be enough."
Camille shrugs a bit, sighing. "Shame. Kind of wanted to give Cinders a nice battle for once. He's the strongest trainer there, ain't he?"
As if on cue, what looks like a Typhlosion perks it's head up, looking between both Camille and Noriko with some interest. Camille stretches a hand out to encourage the Typhlosion over, earning the creature some petting in the process. Seeing the creature causes Noriko's eyes to soften, briefly.
"...There will be time, in the new world, to seek such challenges. But for now, simply focus that energy toward training the grunts and the other admins. Understood?"
"Got it, got it."
"Good." Noriko chuckles a bit, before running a very intentional finger up and down Camille's neck as quick as she can. "Do well enough, and I will see your loyalty rewarded. Understood?"
Given the heat and the thrilled grin on Camille's face, she seems more than pleased. "Definitely. I'll get started now."
And with Camille getting up and clapping her hands, shouting for all of the grunts in the room to get front and center, Noriko is left alone to focus on the videos that Camille took. The one with her child garners the most interest, as she looks through it, waiting until the transfer bar is at 100% before speaking up.
"Oh, my dear sweet little Lotus...soon. Soon you will be in bloom."

Preparing for the Future
Storm enjoyed teaching. It was what the X-Men were really for, she felt and seeing the school filled with young mutants was a sign of hope. A sign that there could be happy futures for these children- born with extraordinary abilities.
She'd seen what the world could do to children like them, she herself had been both urchin and goddess. . .
The children in their school were precious and she tried to remind herself that they were no more precious than any other children but they were to her. They were so very precious and the world was trying so very hard to erase them. To hide them and even to kill them.
Here they were safe and she was part of the reason they were safe. The X-Men had fought battle after battle after battle in order to secure the school and create a place where mutant children could not only find safety but develop and learn to control their powers. Since she had joined the school and team she had seen amazing things. Young mutants who'd come with a simple power and learned they had so much more waiting inside of them, mutants afraid of their powers who had gone on to master them and find comfort in their abilities.
The team was not so different from the students.
In many ways they were all still discovering the depths of their powers. She thought perhaps one never quite knew the true extent of their capabilities in life. They were as great and mysterious as the very genes that gave them to them.
Knowing this about herself made her all the more sure that the school was a necessary and wonderful thing.
Now as she walked among her students she watched them running and laughing. So many looked like ordinary children and yet here and there a child stood out with some striking mutation.
None of them had been safe before coming here. Even the ones who looked indistinguishable from the other children of the world and the truth was, even with the school they weren't entirely safe now either. There were attacks if less frequent than in the past and politicians who from far away could take away rights and protections.
Perhaps one of the children here though might become a politician and fight back. Perhaps one here might even grow up to be a senator or a congressman. Maybe even a president.
Children had such limitless potential.
She stopped walking when she heard a scuffle up ahead and listened, the wind she controlled carrying words to her ears as if they were spoken right next to her.
"You had better take that back, freak." One voice said.
"Call me that one more time and I'll kill you!"
"Just try it, freak! You can't even leave this place without causing a freak show!"
She frowned and saw a small cluster of students and a flash of light.
It hurt her heart to see it and she stepped forward just as one of the kids in the middle fell backwards.
The other boy advanced on him and raised a fist, light coming from it but she grabbed his wrist and held him back.
"You have enough power there to really hurt another person." She said. "Have you ever done such a thing before?"
The boy went nearly limp, shock spreading across his face. "Ms. Munroe. . ." He said, voice faltering.
She sighed. "Lower your hand, Daniel."
The boy did as he was told, slowly lowering his hand as the light faded.
The boy on the ground had strange, green tinted skin that she knew could harden and protect him.
"Get up, Nick. You're alright." She said.
Both boys stared at her and around them some of the others departed from the crowd, slipping away lest they be reprimanded too but most stayed to watch.
She hung her head, wishing they could know the depth of her disappointment. "What good does this do, boys?" She asked. "Is the world not unkind enough? Have you both not suffered?"
Daniel slipped his hand out of her grip but didn't leave.
His face was very red.
"I'm asking you a question. Both of you. Do you not have enough to worry about? Do we all not have enough to fear and fight back against? You have this place, this school to protect you. We- all of us on the staff work to make this a safe place but you act as thugh it's not enough. You turn your powers against each other. . . why? Is there not enough already stacked against you?"
Both boys refused to look at her.
"Answer me. You clearly were confident enough to use your powers against one another. Do you wish that even this place become another site of tragedy?"
"No." Nick said softly.
She sighed. The children with obvious mutations had a harder time. Among mutants themselves they were not always welcome and she remembered the days of the Morlocks and their leader Callisto and what had been done to them. These children were born after those times, most of them probably hadn't even heard of the Morlocks.
"We must come together as a people and we must do so so that we can help one another. There is no mutant strong enough to stand on his own. We are only capable of anything when we act as a group."
"It was a stupid fight." Daniel muttered, glancing at Nick who nodded.
"I know this. You're both young and you've endured much already from the world but it is nothing compared to what you still have yet to endure. Do not waste these precious days here fighting. Do not turn your abilities against one another out of petty acts of rage and anger. If you do that then you are only what humankind would make of you."
The tragedy was that if they did not see it now they would only harm themselves and others. Children though they were and safer as they were here they would never get to act as other children did. They would never be forgiven the way other children would be forgiven. They had to always watch to see who was looking, they had to always be mindful and they could not forget that they were not just children. They were mutants and one mistake and the world would blame all mutants for the acts of one. She had seen it many times before.
"You'll both get detention for this." She said.
Nick hung his head. "I'm sorry."
"I know that too and so I'll be the one overseeing your detention. I have some work in my green house that needs doing and I could use a few extra sets of hands."
Both boys looked at each other and she saw at last the comradery she had hoped for. Neither looked thrilled to be forced into gardening.
Good.
Let it unite them.
She smiled softly. "Tomorrow after supper please report to my green house. It is a punishment but if you spend long enough tending the earth then you may find it not so unpleasant. There is some peace in helping things grow."
Plants and children alike.
The boys nodded and the crowd grew more thin around them as others left also, safe from reprimand and with no spectacle left to view.
She nodded and crossed her arms. "These things do happen but we must take responsibility for our actions when they do and make certain that steps are taken to prevent them from happening again. I'll see you both tomorrow."
The boys nodded a second time and she left them to pick up the pieces of whatever pride had been damaged.
She wanted to protect these children but the truth was that she could do a better job of it if she prepared them for the future instead of shielding them from it. It was unfair but it was real and the world would not wait for them to grow up.
She hoped perhaps that some time in the green house were things grew in warmth and safety and where life flourished might teach them something. Perhaps not what she wanted but anything was good.
She spent the rest of her free period in thought before returning to teaching and seeing Nick in her next class.
Out of the corner of her eye she thought perhaps he was paying more attention than usual and that was a good sign.
She didn't let it show on her face but she smiled to the black board and did her best to prepare them all for a world that didn't want them.

I know there's a lot of writing (that I agree with) on villains' struggles in hero society but c4n I also minirant abt how "willpower" is just makeup on "willingness to take abuse" (Aggretsuko corporate work culture & that Kermit "Imma keep it real w/u Shinzo Abe" meme) & the unique intersection BNHA creates by not just being a shounen but also abt the high pressure in moving up in work/school, working overtime being expected & normalized, sometimes to the point of self-harm (& even when the narrative condemns this, No It Doesn't🎂🍴), "Giving it your all!" (all your time to 1 purpose/entity instead of being a multifaceted human being with a life* & natural limits), etc. defined as True Heroism (bc valuing one's own wellbeing is kinda antithetical to the ideal of a hero By Design, & so often characters are forced into situations where saving others means getting hurt; the 2--self & others--are mutually exclusive), and Yet Again none of this being successfully/consistently criticized by the narrative despite being exhibited, just.,..,, The (UA) kids are not alright...
And it's a little thing for sure; it only really shows up anymore in the movies (it was more prominent at the start of the series), but I still needed it off my chest.
The story sometimes just refuses to choose: was [character's action] heroism or unnecessary self-destruction? 🎂🍴 Is the line often blurry? Sure. That shouldn't stop us from making ethical judgments, though.
Like, the last time I brought this up, I got pushback re:vague notions of entertainment value & the shounen genre, but like. Yeah, exactly? Do media tropes not also contribute to, in addition to reflecting, dominating cultural values? If your school & your society & your etc. are telling u to bust your ass** or else you're worthless, that might be something worth looking into & talking about, idk. Maybe Encanto's "Perfectionism is a homewrecker," & TOH's "School needs to accommodate children; not the reverse," and SPOP's "You're worth more than what you can give to other people," and actually sticking to those messages story-wise rather than just Telling one thing & Showing the opposite (🎂🍴) are all just spoiling my socialist feminist American ass rotten. Can't be the only wacky weeb who thinks an otherwise good message got twisted up bad on this one, though :/
Repeatedly putting characters in intense situations has entertainment value, sure, but there's something else going on in another layer to this that Very Much Does make social commentary (and it's commentary I disagree with), and I think because ppl are looking at the entertainment-value layer, they're not thinking to separate the Doylist from the Watsonian perspective or w/e.
If we want the *last* resort for our (both shounen & American superhero) characters to be self-harm sacrifice, then their first resort (& opportunity) should be to receive help; repeatedly being backed into corners where they conveniently can't rely on anyone else but their own self-destructive tendencies doesn't provide growth but teaches them, reinforces in their minds, that this is how the world must be. I can think of a few characters being receptive to help but not being within *reach* of it. I have also seen those same characters willingly shoving down very human parts of themselves in service of the system they idolize. This, too, is a form of self-harm.
A direct example: BNHA won't decide whether Midoriya's martyrdom is heroic or cruel, and I don't think it'll ever cast any of the students' level of dedication in an unhealthy light (even when certain other characters within the story protest, they're being used as a mouthpiece for the immature, or the faint of heart, but never of the author or narrative. Assistance is painted both as goal-inhibition & reward, but not necessity. The rehabilitation was a hero's welcome, not a change in perspective.) Martyrdom isn't a flaw at all here; it's something to be admired, even if this is concealed behind flowery, empty nods to "support" & "interdependence." Because (as class1akids put it) characters aren't allowed to fully meet the consequences of their actions, the story appears to condone those actions (& in kind the system that enables them.) Horikoshi thus can't resolve the systemic issues he exposes because he sides with the system he created (or certain aspects of it), and his MC has to keep believing in heroes. (Sometimes I feel it'd almost have been better if the issues were never touched upon, so that I could see through Midoriya's eyes the way he wants me to.)
I just don't like seeing overworking be glamorized, especially knowing what I know, especially especially wrt children, and I guess I've also become disillusioned, disenchanted, with the concept of self-sacrifice (moreso its overuse in media.) There are multiple avenues to self-harm; it's not always so direct. Moreover, the law of equivalent exchange doesn't apply to self-harm; you lop off your own arm IRL and all you've done is lose an arm--it isn't a guarantee that some fairy will appear and honor your recklessness with an arbitrary reward for hurting yourself. You do unpaid work for your boss, and all you've done is lose hours of your finite existence on an otherwise gorgeous planet. Repeatedly affiliating the two as an author (harm & gain) in people's minds can't exactly be said to have *no* effect.***
Anyway, tl;dr, glamorizing overwork is just one more nail in the coffin for me, I think. And yes, that is what it's doing. It's not really a main issue in the series but so often that little red flag goes up in my head during lulls in the story where we just see the kids doing their work as hero students, reflective of the heavy, excessive, detrimental requirements in our own reality & education systems. Let children be children, etc. Actually, let humans be humans. It really tries to, at times, but fails bc that's antithetical to the underpinning philosophy, social mores, etc.
*Like, if humanity can turn heroism into a profession, then they can give it professional limits, just sayiiing <3 I mean, they do, to an extent, but it's not enough.
**(You can't just OVERwork your muscles to strength; you can't train yourself to need less sleep, water, oxygen...) Overworking for pennies costs workers their time, but this isn't natural--it's man-made (to benefit the few.) If we can't change that system, the least we can do is to begrudge it for how ugly it is, and not kiss its feet the way these starry-eyed babs look at hero society :(
***It Most Assuredly Affected Me When I Was A Lass, I Can Tell You What ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ It's almost like… a huge slap in the face to have the Toxic Trait you avoided, deliberately made an effort to avoid, and succeeded in avoiding by just a hair… be held up and praised even if it is *lowkey,*(🎂🍴) ykwim?

[chase sui wonders, genderqueer, she/they] ever heard about BEX LI? Out here on the road, they have a reputation of being ENERGETIC & WELCOMING but also IRRESPONSIBLE & UNREALISTIC, no wonder they’re called THE PSYCHEDELIC. According to local legend, they’re TWENTY-FIVE and when they pull up to camp not a soul can mistake the sound of DREAMS BY FLEETWOOD MAC following them. Some say they carry A LITTLE NOTEBOOK WITH POLAROIDS OF HER SISTERS & THEIR FAVORITE WILDFLOWERS PRESSED INSIDE, A BRIGHTLY-PAINTED ALTOIDS TIN FULL OF FOIL-WRAPPED ACID TABS, A PEARL NECKLACE SHE STOLE FROM HER MOTHER, A FAKE DRIVER’S LICENSE FROM THE STATE OF GEORGIA, & A WELL-LOVED DENIM JACKET COVERED IN ALL KINDS OF HANDMADE PATCHES and have been traveling with THE UNDESIRABLES. biography
Bex (not Rebekah – as her grandmother and parents and cops and strangers still call her – unless you really want to kill the vibe) has been told they came straight out of a bygone era for most of their life. People called her a flower child when she was small, then a pothead as time went on, then a burnout when they really gave up on her. As long as she could sit in her room, changing vinyls on her little record player every few songs when she just couldn’t wait to hear her favorite again, she didn’t care what people called her. Even now that they mostly just have the radio, the vibe is still there; like sitting somewhere that feels like home and dreaming to the sound of the music.
Being away from their family wasn’t hard on Bex. It was freeing, plain and simple. Letting go of the expectations their elders had inundated them with felt like taking off shoes two sizes too small and running through the grass barefoot. The hard part was being away from their sisters. There were five Li sisters, four of them younger than Bex themself and one older, and it seemed like all the care they were supposed to put into important things, they put into caring about their sisters. If it wasn’t for their older sister, they never would’ve been able to leave. It felt selfish to leave, but Jesus, Bex needed to get out of there. Words were never really her strong point, but she swears up and down she’ll help them understand someday.
The one thing Bex has always been good at – besides finding and indulging in the best hallucinogens available – is making things; creating something out of nothing. No other kid could ever compare to the craftsmanship of Bex’s arts & crafts projects or Valentine’s cards. It was the only time anyone could ever get her to sit still. Occupied hands, occupied attention. For a while, it was how she paid back her friends’ parents for letting her crash on their couches; mending jeans, patching winter coats, hemming choir skirts. It became a love language. When one of their first traveling companions wore their favorite shirt beyond repair, it didn’t take a genius to make a pillow out of it so it could always be with them; to make it useful and comforting in their travels.
There is plenty that Bex isn’t good at or suited for on the road. What dreamer has what it takes to rely on themself? Maybe one who’s had to rely on themself their entire life; who was given up on early and never got to stick around anywhere long enough to know how to grow roots. To Bex, relying on themself has always meant knowing their strengths and weaknesses. Ironic, since the latter of which is primarily not knowing things. Who cares about learning things from books when the world has so much left to teach in the high branches of trees and overlooking the sprawling stretch marks of canyons? The Bex people knew before they set out on the road really isn’t that different from the Bex people know now; a far away, dreamy look and an optimistic smile.
Bex is, first and foremost, a connoisseur of good times and the beauty of the universe. If you ask her, they go hand in hand. The stars and the mountains and the deserts and the rivers they run through speak to her in a way people just can’t. Too much of the time, people just don’t get Bex. As far as she’s ever figured, the only opinions worth listening to are from the people who have also opened themselves up to the endless possibilities of the universe. The world is wide and weird, and Bex wants to know her. They’re here, on this earth and in the dirt, to be. Just to be. To be, and to be here; wherever that is. “Home” never understood that. Someone, somewhere out there, will understand. When the universe sends them to Bex, she’ll be looking.

heyy girlie (gender neutral) I’ve become way too invested into ur OC Petra and their story .. Just wanted to share some HC’s i thought of over fangirling over them <3
• Petra picks up Spanish from Miguel (Can’t decide if they learn on their own or Miguel takes the time to teach them)
• Possibly sleeps in web sometimes? or web hammock??
• Their suit also has some kind of sugar glider style fabric stretching out from under the arms that help them glide/get around. (appearing as needed)
• ^^ I’d like to think they wouldn’t use it all that much, but every once in a while they just whip it casually and everyone’s like “so they can just fly?” (Material’s sum similar to that whole cape thing Miguel had on at Gwen’a earth)
• They’re extremely in tuned with their spidey sense. Helping them stay ahead from accidental/intentional mishaps from bigger ppl. (Maybe did training/meditation to develop it over the yrs?? Karate kid type beat) Also has really good intuition in general.
• (To go with that ^^) Some individuals who become close with Petra find that their spider senses become instinctively more aware of them and keeps them from accidental mishaps.
(From here on is basically Petra and the gang bc yes to interactions with them )
• Petra becoming part of the “Team Miles” gang >> (Them practically kidnapping Petra into one of their own and making sure they feel included and etc >>>
• Like, they’re 100% in the groupchat
• The gang send all the “short friend” tiktoks in there (They pretend to be annoyed by this)
• Sleepovers >>>>>>
• Petra would melt Rio’s heart.
• Imagine the gang having dinner at Miles’s and Petra’s already pulling out their own tupperware from home. (not wanting to create a fuss or any awkwardness) and Rio just sets down a saucer in front of them with just the tiniest of tamelas all tied up perfectly and it’s just <3 (and you KNOW Rio’s sending her back home with leftovers)
• Spiderbyte has at least once or twice adjusted her avatar to be their size for Petra’s comfort. (Petra said they were fine but Margo insisted.) ((I’d like to think she’s one of their 1st close friends outside of Miguel and Jess))
• Petra offers to add bluetooth to miles suit after overhearing him complain how uncomfy airpods are under his mask. Under the condition that he shares his playlist with them.
• They falls in love Earth 1610’s (Miles’s earth) music. (I feel like this is how they hit it off??)
• Also Miles and Petra bonding over being “different” in their own ways >>>
(I could literally go on and on but i’ll just stop right here for now lol. Love this character and the backstory you’ve created. Looking forward to anything you decide to put out with them. Take care <3)
I’M… IM LITERALLY IN AWE OF THESE OMGGGGGGG I WANT TO WRITE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? THANK YOU FOR SUBMITTING THESE AND I WANT TO EXPAND ON THEM OK
im literally obsessed with miles and petra bonding in that way. miles is just so nice and is like the fun-loving brother petra never had, and they both just have such a string desire to help people
miles does not look down on petra in any way. like he’s so chill they think there’s a catch but there isn’t. he’s just miles
miles is honestly in awe of petra and thinks they are SO COOL but will never admit it (gwen can tell right away)
spider byte making petra their own phone and petra is like bruh. what the hell is this thing and where has it been all my life
the “omg how are you so small” meme gets sent every day
petra is obsessed with the !! react on imessage
already loving how accepting miles’ parents would be of them in the perfect world where they know everything like. rio is SO motherly to them
petra would LOVE miles’ music so much omg. they would be a “always training to a specific playlist” typea bitch
the suit thing is SO good because i had the same thought. just making crazy jumps and gliding around
they have this weird relationship w miguel bc he saved them so they have a soft spot for each other but the way miguel sees miles is of course questionable…… so they’re in a weird middle ground
peter b. would be a menace to them of course. sort of like a love/hate relationship but they will never admit they like each other
petra picks up spanish from miguel and them and miles speak it to each other to practice 🥹
tiny people having superior senses is like my favorite trope that i use with every time so it’s a no-brainer here, they know shit like a few seconds before the others sense it
miguel is so protective over them it’s insane. they pretend it bothers them but deep down they rely on that security

I got a really nice comment today that touched on something I hadn't really focused too much on...
Tumblr media
First off...Horny Cake.
Lol! To be fair Delia didn't give it to him on purpose, she didn't even know it would affect Archer like that but yeah, it's technically a Turn-on Tart. I can't wait to write what the results of that will be in the next chapter. XD
But getting back to the topic, I really love how you worded Archer/Arceus actions and why he'd be a good father and husband. I'm actually a bit negative with him sometimes because he has a quick temper, he's tried to destory humanity, and was a pretty neglectful friend. But I guess that can be filed under " Needs Improvement", at least he's self aware like you mentioned.
But everything else? Yeah, I haven't given him a lot of credit for that. What he does is sadly rare. Most guys avoid single moms, don't want anything to do with kids from another man, and don't like baggage. Blended families are tricky too. Sometimes the kids don't get along or there's favoritism involved. Ash has met all of Arceus's children, seen the worst from them, but also helped bring out their best. They have in turn come to his rescue and protected him, even from Arceus himself. I think the Creation Trio and Ash would get along as a blended family for the most part, Ash probably being the mediator between them when they do clash. They seem to listen and calm down around him. Maybe moreso when he become their little brother.
I do like the idea that Delia and Giratina would get along due to both of them having rebellious phases in their youth, but going through character development later on. I could definitely see her being that supportive mom with her goth son.
I could see Palkia and Diagla being the protective older sisters to Ash and just constantly worrying about his safely because, wow, this kid is a danger magnet, how is he not dea...wait he died how many times now?!
Delia just fawning over Palkia and Diagla because she's always wanted daughters, and they get the mother they never had. Lots of bonding ensues. Also Delia teaching them to cope with their quarrels in a non destructive way. Erasing a town is not a good way to resolve issues. In turn they could easily use their abilities to help her out, I imagine that time travel and spacial distortion would be very useful in anything from mundane uses like house tidying via creating storage spaces with unlimited room to larger applications like taking a vacation in another era or dimension.
Giratina and Ash are already shown as best buds, so it would just evolve into best bros. He'd probably help Ash out with dimensional issues in Alola and any ultra beasts. And introduce Ash to his girlfriend, Cynthia...who they'd be " Hey long time no see!" It's a small pokemon world, huh?
They'd be a weird family, but fairly happy.

Thelreads, MHA 261, Replies Part 1
1) “Let`s not even waste any time, time to jump in on chapter 261: high-ends.
Oh boy.”- Was that an intentional bunny pun, or…? But yeah, High Ends, Low Odds, Big Stakes, Smol Bun, Let’s see how it all shakes out.
2) “Ooohhh boy. I`m starting to worry that someone here is gonna have a really bad time… If one high end was that troublesome before- yeah, it`s gonna be a baaaad time.”- I’ll give Horikoshi credit for somehow managing to make Miruko’s thighs the focus despite her chest being front and centre to the ‘camera’. Not going for the low-hanging fruit option, and introducing a lot of people to how attractive a powerful female character can be as well.
3) “Right where we left, that`s the despicable door that ended poor widdle johnny, now on it`s way to interrupt the peaceful nap of an innocent nomu. This bunny girl is a menace, we need to stop her.”-  Honestly, Miruko lucked out with that explosive entrance. Even though she couldn’t have known beforehand, she managed to take out Maruta’s exit strategy and halve her available opposition whilst they were still incubating in their tanks. The Kool-Aid man’s teachings save the day once again.
4) “Oh that`s fucked up- Yeah, I don`t doubt that the doctor probably liked Johnny since he was so useful and all that, but it doesn`t change the fact that he experimented on a little kid to make said nomu. Really messed up, the dissonance is setting a nice tone for this chapter, I like it.”- It seems Maruta wasn’t lying before when he told Compress excessive teleportation gives Johnny severe laryngitis, but his apparent care and compassion for his twisted creation is all the more fucked-up because he actually seems to prefer Johnny in this inhuman state, like he thinks the warped perversion of humanity he creates with his experiments is the perfect embodiment of what people should be like, rather than abominations that need to be corrected after science went too far. I honestly don’t dout that if he had his way, or better yet, had access to a quirk like Overhaul’s, he’d be trying to turn as many people as he could into Nomu because his creations are ‘better’ than the raw materials they were moulded from. 5) “Actually now that I think about it, I`m starting to think the doctor is just seeing his life flash before his eyes. Even Dadoriya is back to give him a last goodbye before that door crushes another of his little toys.”- It’s fascinating how the genuine human excitement and happiness present in Maruta and AFO’s interactions just drives how the duo’s almost inhuman natures, how they only see people around them as either tools or raw materials for their ambitions, and sincerely congratulate either other on their successes and encourage their friend to new heights of depravity with sincere goodwill. It’s almost like a twisted mirror of Bakugou and Izuku’s rivalry pushing the other forwards, each in equal partnership to the same base motivation, of achieving their ideals upon the world. 6) “Yeah, but this didn`t killed those nomus, right? It just gonna wake- well, I mean, it did kill johnny, sure, but I meant the other nomus. They are probably not 100% ready, but just like Shigaraki they are gonna have to rise and shine regardless of how much time was left before the alarm clock went off.”- It probably didn’t ‘kill’ them, but disconnected from the electric shock or whatever signal Maruta sent with the remote there likely means they didn’t ‘wake up’ properly, and their bodies and minds aren’t going to be functioning at 100%, if they’re functioning at all. I doubt Maruta would be dumb enough to not have programmed a kill switch or other safeguards against a Nomu running rampant in his highly-secure lab should an accident happen, so they’re likely intentionally designed only to respond to the proper ignition sequence, and nothing else. 7) “…okay maybe those ones also ended up dead after that. probably weren`t good enough to get up and fight, but some of them will probably be able to pick up the slack. No way all the nomus that could fight are outside right now, the doctor definitely has some backups to protect him right now.”- For once the Doctor’s own highly-cautious nature nearly did him in. Because there’s so many restrictions preventing a Nomu running berserk or waking up on accident, if Maruta hadn’t been able to press his remote in time, it wouldn’t have mattered how many backups he had ready to go, none of them would have twitched a finger to aid him even as Miruko dropkicked him from one end of the lab to the other. 8) “And now, back to… whoever this one is. I do remember seeing this hero once before, back at the hero ranking announcement or something, but I absolutely don`t remember his name- or quirk for that fact. I`m going to assume his power is to grin really hard.”-Actually, that’d be this guy’s power.
youtube
9) “Oh, that isn`t surprising, that there would be more ways in and out of the lab, but it`s not like the doctor can reach them right now, there`s a bunny stomping his brains into fine red paste, the most concerning thing here is that some nomus can escape and wreak havoc while the heroes are busy.”- And again tying into the heroes’ moral ambiguity here, Crust is basically forced to take down the Nomu in his way in whatever decisive speedy manner he can, even resorting to lethal force if needs be, because if he pushes past them for the sake of speed they can flee through the other exits and endanger civilians, but if he takes too long trying to non-fatally subdue them to preserve their lives then Miruko might wind up in danger in the lab with a target they absolutely cannot afford to let escape or wake Tomura up. He at least feels bad about the necessity of his actions, but he still goes through with taking the kill shot in the end. 10) “And his quirk seems to be some sort of armor-like skin, interesting. Hand-to-hand combatant then, but someone with more crowd-control would be better suited in this situation.”- Shields are actually a great crowd-control measure, especially if your goal is to overcome large numbers whilst protecting your vulnerable spots as much as possible. It’s why you always see the riot police carrying one when protests are getting out of hand. 11) “And back to the bunny we go, moments before an old man becomes the new stain- which is to say, he`ll become a stain. on the floor. and walls. and probably the ceiling if miruko is feeling especially hungry today.”- And Ironically Miruko isn’t even that personally invested in taking Maruta out, unlike with Mic or Aizawa. That kind of splash damage is just typical Tuesday for her. 12) “Well doc, we just need to be sure, you know? Don`t worry, it`s just a liiiiight kick, just enough to score a homerun with your skull (:  “- First her, then Mic and Aizawa will need to double- no, triple-check he’s not a clone, then I’m pretty sure everybody who sees the kind of stuff he’s been getting up to in his lab of horrors will want to double-check he’s not a clone obscuring the real Maruta’s escape…

all of my feelings rn
I've been having so many issues recently. I'm not happy, but I'm a little less stressed I guess. This is really just all of the things I'm struggling with right now and my thoughts on current events. I don't think that anyone cares but at least I can get my thoughts out. This is my version of the Broski Report.
Current Reads:
I'm currently reading Across the Green Grass Fields by Seanan Mcguire. This is the 6th book in the Wayward children series and I am OBSESSED with this series. I like that the books are short enough that you feel like you're finishing something really quickly (the books are all between 120-200 pages). I enjoy literally every aspect of them. The representation and diversity is really encouraging, the world building is so good, the writing is beautiful. So many parts of each of these stories ahs been imprinted on me. They are so memorable which is really refreshing. I haven't had a book, let alone a whole series, be so memorable in such a long time.
I really want to create little miniatures of each of the covers. I saw someone on TikTok making miniatures of each of The Hunger Games arenas and god that is all I want to do. I'll do it eventually. Maybe it will be a summer project for myself.
Life Plan
I've come up with a new plan for my life. I think I would be such a good teacher not only because I love school, but I'm just really passionate about learning and education. I've been scared of going to school for teaching because I hear about all of these horror stories from teaching in schools and how bad it is right now and I just have little hope that it will be better in the next few years. I was watching another TikTok series from an elementary school librarian and something clicked with me. I want to be a school librarian. It just makes sense for me. I have always loved reading, literacy, and the library in general. There has always been a touch of the library in every part of my life. I think that I would still be able to get the feeling of teaching without having to also be in the classroom full time. I have done some research and the path is going to be hopefully smooth I just have to wait until the fall to start school again. I'm going to just finish getting enough credits for a general studies degree, then I'm going to apply for the online masters program for library sciences that also gets you the necessary requirements for being a school librarian.
Music that I'm loving recently.
I've become such an Evermore girlie. I'm so obsessed some of the songs just scratch a part of my brain right now. I wish I had been more of an Evermore girlie when I went to Eras because I had Dorothea as one of my surprise songs and I wasn't all that excited. I wish I had also been in a better head space when I was at Eras because I wish I could have had a better time. I was going through a rough time and I just want to experience it again. I desperately want to go to Eras again but maybe I can find some people that will watch Eras with me and act like it's a concert.
Things that I'm struggling with.
I wish that I could slow myself down. I have always had issues thinking I am not in the right spot for someone my age even though nobody else expects more of me. I put so much pressure on myself and it sucks. It's one of my goals in therapy to give myself a break.
I really wish I could relive an average day when I was younger. I took it for granted and I would give anything to go back to being a kid. I really don't like this whole adult thing. I miss being taken care of. I feel like I am just surviving because I'm trying to get through everything and I'm so unhappy because I am constantly taking care of things and nothing is taken care for me.
In the same vein, I've been feeling awful about things I did and said as a kid when it pertained to my mom. My mom was an alcoholic when I was little. Now, she was a functioning alcoholic. She never lost her job or anything but she did drink a lot. She's been sober for over 10 years and I am so so so proud of her for that. I admire her for giving up her addictions. I want to be like her more when it comes to my addiction. Anyways, I said some out of pocket shit as a kid when it came to my mom and drinking. Some of the things I think about are like how my sister would roleplay as the drunk mom when we played house, after the tornado my sister and I made jokes about how my mom's beer can made it to the neighbors yard, I told people in Kindergarten that my mom was in Vegas and hurt her neck because she was too drunk. I feel awful about saying those things. How awful my sister and I must have made her feel. I would never be able to live with myself after that. I want to be clear not all of my memories are of my mom drunk- I only remember seeing her physically drunk one time.
I am so fucking hard on myself it makes me miserable but I don't know how to fix it. I'm so preoccupied with being perfect at everything that I don't give myself room to grow and do better than the last time. It's really exhausting. I wish I knew where this came from. My parents have been nothing but supportive in anything I've ever done. I exceeded any expectation they ever had for me. I somehow got it in my head that I can't be anything but the best or perfect at everything. It's been hard at this new job too because this is a whole new world I'm learning but I'm so obsessed with being perfect the first time that I'm not even really retaining why I'm doing the things at work that I'm doing.
I am so anxious all the time. It is such a big barrier for me and it affects every.single.second of my life. I'm constantly anxious about time, how I'm coming off, how I look, how I'm perceived. When Taylor wrote "I wouldn't marry me either/ a pathological people pleaser," I so so so feel that. I wish I could slow myself down more.
I have like zero sense of self. I have no clue who I am who people perceive me as. I feel like I have no friends to tell me that either. I'm a really lonely person right now but I can't get myself to fix that. I wish I didn't isolate myself so much. It really sucks.
Along with no sense of self, I want to wear different clothes but I have zero clue where to start. I have ideas but I don't know how to wear things the way other people do.
I think this is the end. This was really theraputic :)

The Ultimate Guide to Teaching Your Kids to Read in Spanish
Tumblr media
Do you remember the first time you read a book and felt like you were transported into a whole new world? Well, guess what? It's time to buckle up because you're about to give your kids the ticket to that magical journey. But this time it's en español.
Whether you're a native Spanish speaker or just someone who appreciates the beauty and culture that comes with the language, teaching your little one to read in Spanish can be a rewarding experience for both of you.
So, let's get to it, shall we? Today, we're going to delve into the fun, fabulous world of letters, syllables, and big books in Spanish. Yes, you heard it right. Big books in Spanish that your child will fall in love with, and that will make the learning process a piece of cake Or should I say, un pedazo de pastel?
Start with the Basics: The Spanish Alphabet
Let's go back to the good ol' ABCs, shall we? But wait, in Spanish, we have a couple of special guests like "ñ" and "ll." Learning the alphabet is like learning the building blocks of a castle, and who doesn't want to build a castle?
To make it super engaging, let's turn this into a hands-on project. Get some poster board and markers, and create a colorful alphabet chart with your kiddo. Hang it up in a special place, maybe even their room, so they can proudly see their work every day.
And hey, remember that songs are your best friend. Sing the Spanish alphabet tune when you're driving to school or while doing chores. Before you know it, you’ll have a tiny artist singing the Spanish ABCs while coloring. Now that's what I call killing two birds with one stone: or should I say, matar dos pájaros de un tiro!
Syllable Shenanigans: Breaking Down Words
Alright, you've mastered the letters, so what's next on this fun-filled journey? Syllables. Think of syllables as the glue that holds our beautiful Spanish words together. And the exciting part? Spanish is so neat and tidy; the words often break down into syllables in a very straightforward way with children’s books.
Start with some arts and crafts time. Cut out syllables from magazines or newspapers and make a syllable scrapbook. Let your child glue down syllables next to pictures that represent them. For instance, next to a picture of a dog, they could glue the syllables “pe” and “rro” to form "perro."
And don't underestimate the power of movement. Get your little one to jump or hop from one syllable to the next written on the floor. Imagine how fun it will be for them to hop from "pa" to "pa" and shout "papá". It's exercise and education rolled into one. Now, how cool is that?
Visual Aids: Pictures and Word Associations
Who can resist the charm of vivid, colorful pictures? Visual aids can be a game-changer when it comes to learning. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in our case, we'll start with just one or two in Spanish.
Let's take your child's favorite storybook and give it a Spanish twist. Use sticky notes to label the pictures with their Spanish names. So, every time you get to the page with a 'house,' you'll also see "casa" right next to it.
You could even make it into a weekend activity by going on a "photo walk." Take pictures of random things around the neighborhood, like a tree, car, or cat. Then, go home and make a cute little album, writing down the Spanish word next to each photo. As a bonus, this can be a treasured keepsake of your child's learning journey.
Ah, and what about your own home? Turn it into a mini-Spanish haven. Place labels on household items like "mesa" for table, "silla" for chair, and "puerta" for door. It becomes a 24/7 learning playground, plus your child will feel super proud as they go around the house reading these words.
The Power of Repetition: Story Time
Ah, the allure of storytelling. Imagine cuddling up with your little one and exploring magical worlds: all in Spanish. When we dive into stories, we don’t just read words; we live adventures. And guess what? The more often we relive these adventures, the more familiar they become.
Begin with a bedtime ritual. Choose a captivating children’s tale in Spanish and read it every night for a week. You'll notice something wonderful: after a few days, your little listener will start finishing sentences and predicting what comes next.
And what about some drama? Turn these story sessions into mini-plays. Assign characters to each other and act out the parts. Fancy yourself the Big Bad Wolf or the brave Little Red Riding Hood? Your living room will soon be the stage for epic tales from Spanish folklore.
Also, keep an eye out for those big books in Spanish with vibrant illustrations. The combination of pictures and repetitive phrases can create a mesmerizing effect. Your child won’t just be learning; they’ll be enthralled.
Be Interactive: Use Everyday Moments
Life is a classroom, especially for a curious child. The beauty of learning Spanish is that you can infuse it into the tiniest moments. Think of it as seasoning everyday life with a pinch of Spanish.
During breakfast, chat about what’s on the menu in Spanish. Pancakes? That's "panqueques". Milk? That's "leche". It won't be long before your child excitedly asks for "jugo de naranja" in the morning.
Stuck in traffic or waiting in line? Turn it into a spontaneous Spanish quiz! Ask your child to spot things outside and name them in Spanish. A tree is an "árbol", and a car is a "coche". Bonus points if they can use it in a sentence.
And how about a dance party? Yup, you heard that right. Put on some catchy Spanish songs and dance away. Not only will this help with vocabulary, but you'll also have some unforgettable fun-filled moments together.
Have Fun: Games and Activities
If there's a surefire way to make learning unforgettable, it's by wrapping it up in layers of fun. Spanish isn't just a language; it's a ticket to a universe of games and activities that your child will adore.
Ever heard of "Lotería"? It's the Mexican version of Bingo, and it's brimming with delightful imagery and Spanish words. Give it a try on a family game night. You’ll be yelling "Lotería" in no time.
For the tech-savvy kids, the digital realm offers a plethora of Spanish learning apps and games. Picture this: animated characters, vibrant landscapes, and challenging quests: all reading in Spanish.
And finally, how about a Spanish fiesta? Host a themed party with Spanish music, food, and games. Your child can invite their friends, and together they can have a blast while learning. Imagine them doing the conga line while chanting Spanish numbers. Uno, dos, tres, ¡fiesta!
To wrap it up, the journey of teaching Spanish can be as colorful, lively, and dynamic as the language itself. Remember, every game played, every story read, and every song sung brings your child a step closer to being a confident Spanish reader. Dive in, enjoy the ride, and let the fiesta of learning begin.
Conclusion
Remember, teaching your child to read in Spanish is not just about the words and letters. It’s about spending quality time together and embarking on a fun-filled journey into a new world. So dig out those big books in Spanish, put on your imaginative hats, and watch your child transform into a little lector (reader) who not only enjoys stories but also gains a valuable skill that will benefit them for life.

on monday i had my appointment with my therapist.
i think this is not new news here - i'm pretty sure i've mentioned that i am seeking professional help in order to straighten out my life, my brain, how i deal with my life, etc.
if i haven't...well there it is.
anyway. she gave me some homework - she asked me to write down all the things that i can that would make my life "ideal".
so i thought i would do that. here. i guess i want to put it here almost as an archive benchmark of the place i'm in now and what i consider to be my ideal place and HOPEFULLY someday look back on it and think wow i've gotten it!
or alternatively someday look back on it and realize perhaps what i thought was my ideal would actually have been wrong or bad for me and....hindsight is of course, 20/20.
anyway so here it is: my ABSOLUTE ideal life would be....that i fall back in love with my husband. i fall back in love with him, i am able to respect him again, i am able to create a non-toxic home for my child who deserves to see his parents in a loving relationship.
that's my ideal.
in this ideal, i don't account for any changes that i want to see in yasir. it only accounts for me making a complete 180 and just developing the ability to let go of my anger and emotions and accept my sole responsibilities and maybe even be grateful for the morsels that yasir picks up and does along the way.
i guess, to be fair, this is only my ideal because i want to provide esa a home that's not broken or severed.
it's not my ideal because it actually is my ideal.
we'll call this "ideal" sabr.
my next ideal is....that both yasir and i change. god knows we both need to . i need to be able to let things go, take away my anger, regulate my emotions.
and yasir needs to understand his responsibilities, act like an adult, take part in the household, actively handle chores and work.
that's my ideal for me....i feel in my heart of hearts that now that is the only way that i will be able to open my heart to yasir. otherwise, we're just too far gone.
and oh, another part of this scenario would be that IDEALLY....i wouldn't have to teach yasir how to be an adult. because - if i've said it once, i'll say it a million times over - i am NOT his mother. i do not take or own the responsibility of raising this manchild. and if we're talking ideals anyway...well wouldn't that be just dandy that one day (with or without help) yasir wakes up and is a sensitive and caring and mature adult human being who willingly takes on domestic labour and parenting responsibilities and IS NOT a lazy fuck.
this ideal i think we'll call.....unattainable.
only because from yasir's words and his body language....he refuses to accept that he actually needs to change. and in his own perception he does more than enough of his part in our family unit.
obviously, i disagree.
my third ideal is...i guess i'll call it acceptance.
i accept that my relationship with yasir has more than expired.
i accept that yasir will not change and it will take only miraculous amounts of said change for me to even bat another eyelash at him.
i accept that i am parenting and working and own responsibility for 2 adults in my household.
and i MOVE THE FUCK ON. in this ideal, i explain to esa....that sometimes mamas and babas don't love each other anymore despite that they still love their esa's the ABSOLUTE FUCKING MOST. but for their own sanities and self respect....they have to separate.
and then we separate. and somehow i get to live and own my own home exclusively with my kid. i find a good babysitter. my kid is NEVER mad or upset with me for making this nasty tough decision. and the rest of the world just sort of....leaves me alone.
in this ideal...i would also LOVE it if every single person went out of their way to validate my decision to separate as well. and no one thought of me as villainous (despite that currently i do feel like i am being perceived as villain bahu in my susraal).
and we go on living. and perhaps in this ideal, i lose a shit ton of the weight i gained and it turns out it was the weight of the stress and the world and the overwhelm that i was carrying that's to my dysfuctional past life and shitty marriage.
and then i become beautiful and someone else beautiful (INSIDE ESPECIALLY) comes into my life and i am able to once again accept a man as my husband and this time....i start off better. but he also treats me right.
those are my scenarios.
i only named one of them unattainable but if i really critically look at them...they're all fucking unattainable.
i'm so done with marriage. and especially my own.
much love,
k

A group of pastors tried to shut down a 21+ drag event. It backfired spectacularly.
Efforts by a group of clergy members to shut down a drag show in Upstate New York have failed spectacularly, leading to an outpouring of support for the 21+ event. As local ABC affiliate WHAM reports, Pastor Tim Lindsay of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Albion, New York, initially asked organizers to cancel a 21+ drag brunch show set to take place October 1 at local event space The Lockstone. After they declined, Lindsay wrote an open letter co-signed by 23 other local clergy members and published it on OrleansHub.com. Related: GOP lawmakers now want to ban drag brunches on Sundays An Arizona Republican introduced a law banning drag on Sunday mornings. In the letter, Lindsay argued that the adults-only show would open the door to drag story hour events in the community, which he characterized as “inappropriate for children.” Get the Daily Brief The news you care about, reported on by the people who care about you: Subscribe to our Newsletter “We acknowledge the right of the organizers to hold this event and for people to attend, but we believe that its overall impact would be detrimental to our community,” Lindsay wrote. “While the scheduled event is for those 21 and over, we are also aware of the emergence of ‘drag queen story hours’ for children that have been taking place across the country. One of our concerns is that the attempt to normalize drag queen events such as the one scheduled for October 1st is a precursor to prepare the community for further drag queen events, including drag queen story hours.” Lindsay noted that members of the Rochester Drag Me to Brunch cast, which includes RuPaul’s Drag Race alums Mrs. Kasha Davis and Darienne Lake, have participated in drag queen story hour events. “Clearly, there are sexual overtones and implicit sexual content in most drag performances,” Lindsay claimed. “While that content is not emphasized in the story hour setting, it remains a significant part of the drag world. Just as most in the community would not endorse ‘adult film star story hours’, or ‘exotic dancer story hours’, even if those individuals were not directly promoting the industry that they represent, common sense tells us that such events would be inappropriate for children.” Lindsay’s letter was also posted on Facebook, where the overwhelming majority of comments were in support of the Drag Me to Brunch event. “Love and acceptance is a virtue, practice it! You don’t want to see drag performers, don’t buy a ticket!” one comment read. “This is a 21+ event… so where’s the problem?” “It’s entertainment people! I’m paying more attention to which pastors didn’t sign it than did! Good for them,” another user wrote. “Keep me posted on when a story hour can happen too – I’d love to bring my kids,” another comment read. “I hope they sell out and continue to do shows!” one user wrote. And sell out they did. WHAM reports that the event sold out within days of the letter being posted. “It brought the attention to the surface,” said Mrs. Kasha Davis. “There are a lot of people who were like, “I didn’t even know this was going on until I saw this whole post, so thanks for letting us know,’” said Darienne Lake. “So, oops, you played yourself.” In a statement, the event’s organizer said: “My intention was to provide a morning full of food, fun, and laughs with friends. I had no idea this would cause such an uproar within our community in this day and time. I am new to the Church world and my Pastor teaches that we love all people no matter the differences.” While Lindsay still hopes that the brunch show will be canceled, he seems resigned to failure. “It just felt like we needed to address it,” he said. “If that creates more attention and more people want to come, maybe because they disagree with our point of view, that’s what’s going to happen. We can’t change that.” http://dlvr.it/SwZ16d
