Revivals and Regrets
Madara Uchiha x Senju!Reader
Synopsis: With all of the Hokage's resurrected to help fight against the evils of Madara and Obito Uchiha, the oldest Senju has a brilliant idea to deal with Madara - and it just so happens to be reviving you... Much to Tobirama's disapproval.
A/n: I have not seen the Fourth Ninja War arc so this is (most likely) NOT accurate. But enjoy it anyway ;)
Naruto Masterlist: Here
Tumblr media
Like always, Madara's presence was an issue and Hashirama was beginning to see how screwed they all were if he wasn't taken care of soon. He glanced at Tobirama who snarled down at the way Madara slaughtered the ninjas one by one without breaking a sweat. He hated him so much... And that fact alone made Hashirama fear what he would say once he voiced his crazy idea.
"We should revive Y/n"
Tobirama's head snapped to his older brother. For a split second, his eyes held shock and fear, but it quickly morphed into hatred. It wasn't that he hated you; Hashirama knew that.
It was something much darker than that.
"Are you insane? Why in the world would we resurrect our little sister?!" Tobirama spit out, causing the group around them to stare in confusion at what was happening. The third Hokage, however, knew why the second was so angry. Except, it wasn't anger. Sure it sounded like anger and felt like anger, but it was one thing and one thing alone.
Regret.
Tobirarma deliberately drove Madara out of the village, breaking your poor, innocent heart. He believed you would get over it and find someone else to love, but what he didn't plan for was you running away. Upon hearing that you had left, Tobirarma sent ANBU officers after you. While he was worried they wouldn't find you, the second he laid eyes upon your dead body, he wished they hadn't found you at all.
He didn't sleep for months.
"Tobirama, I know you don't want to face her, but she's our only hope-"
Tobirama scoffed, eyes rolling as he looked back down to the ninja being massacred below. Upon seeing just how few men were left, his gaze softened. Face his worst fear? Or let everyone die? Tobirama's eyes fell to his feet as the tears bubbled along his lashline. "Tobirama"
"Fine. Revive her"
Silence filled the space around him, his chest growing tight as he realized what he had just permitted. He managed to avoid you in the afterlife but he wasn't going to be able to run from you here. He turned back to watch the fighting below, but his eyes slammed shut as Hashirama chanted the jutsu out into the night air. Maybe if he just kept his eyes closed he could ignore you.
That wouldn't work though, he knew that.
A piercing screech sounded out causing his plan of being unavailable emotionally to fly out the window. He chanced a glance behind him, eyes open and wide at what he saw. The shrill cry that snapped him out of it was indeed flying from your lips, and your pained face made him want to die a thousand deaths. When someone is resurrected, they have the same feelings as the moment they died. Meaning that if you died a painful death and were revived, you would immediately feel that pain upon resurrection.
It would go away, once you realized you were no longer in pain, but hearing the sound you would have made in your last moments on earth made Tobirama want to run for the hills.
Hashirama wrapped his arms around you, coos flying from his lips as he tried to ease you into the living world. Tobirama couldn't stop himself, his body turning fully to face you and your confused state. Tears were streaming down your face, hands grasping at your neck as you fought for air. Your killers had slit your throat, making the image before him sicker than it would have been if he was free from that knowledge.
He did this to you.
Tobirama watched cautiously as you slowly began to take in your surroundings and the way Hashirama was holding you - Hashirama was always a better brother to you than he was. Tobirarma didn't have many regrets in his life, but all of them related to you.
~Your POV~
Your eyes wandered, searching for something in the crowd. What was it that you needed? The one thing you thought of before you died... You wouldn't remember until you saw-
Your face visibly softened, eyes widening as you took a shaky step towards him - your white-haired brother that you had been avoiding in the afterlife out of fear that he hated you. "Tobi?" you whispered. You could tell he wasn't expecting this outcome, what with how his eyebrows shot up in shock. You opened your mouth to say something, but the commotion below finally hit your ears and quiet mind, oh... You were revived for a reason.
You took in a sharp inhale of breath eyes widening as you raced towards where Tobirama was standing, but your eyes were no longer on him. If you could have died again from happiness, you would have. "Madara!" you cried out, mouth curving up into a loving smile.
"That's why we revived you, Y/n... We need your help with him"
Your head shot back to Hashirama, who was just as bewildered as Tobirama was - he knew you'd be excited to see Madara again. However, he was still reeling over your reluctance to run to Tobirama. They couldn't deny it, though. If Madara wasn't there, you would have indeed run to your brother. "Y/n," the white-haired man breathed out shakily. Now that you were here before him, the regrets came flooding back in. He should have let you marry the Uchiha, should have let you run away with him. But he was selfish.
He was the cause of your death.
Your mouth slammed shut, a frown replacing your smile as you gazed at the white-haired man behind you. The both of you took a deep breath.
"I'm so sorry"
Both of your eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the other's apology. Hashirama's eyes flicked between the two of you before he rolled them. Stepping forward, he placed his hands on both of your shoulders.
"I'll spell this out since we don't have time. Tobirama, Y/n is sorry for running away and disgracing the clan. Y/n, Tobirama is sorry for banishing Madara and being the cause of your death" The eldest hoped that the explanation would do, but it only seemed to have caused more confusion.
Silence filled the air before you both proclaimed: "You aren't a disgrace" and "You weren't the cause of my death" to each other. Hashirama sighed; if the two of you had just worked this out in the afterlife, they wouldn't be in this situation-
"We do not have time for this!!!"
Your eyes traveled to a blonde boy who couldn't have been older than 17. You scoffed playfully before throwing a look at the fourth Hokage, "Your kid, I presume?" He nodded sheepishly before scolding the teen, reminding him about who he was talking to. "He's got that Uzumaki fire... I will say..."
"HEY!"
"Enough." Hashirama hissed out, stopping Naruto's anger in its spot. Hashirama gripped your shoulder harder, "Can you help us stop him? I fear he will only listen to you... After all, all of this is for you."
Your eyebrows furrowed. "For me? I didn't ask for this". The silence that followed made your stomach flip.
"Madara... He was so heartbroken upon hearing of your death that he waged war on the village. He managed to rope Obito Uchiha into this war. Obito similarly lost the love of his life, so it was easy for Madara to manipulate him."
You let out a groan at Hashirama's words. Of course, this was for you. This was Madara, after all. "Did my fan come with me?" your question flew back towards the group near where you were resurrected. There was a commotion as they scrambled to look for it, but a sigh of relief fell from your lips when one yelled that your fan did indeed come with you.
You muttered a 'thanks' as the shinobi handed you the weapon. The same weapon you'd use when sparring with Madara. It was rather funny when you thought of it, your ninjutsu being wind and Madara's being fire. But it worked.
Depending on how you use it, it could extinguish the flames or intensify them. You two were a match made in heaven. A smile once more grazed your lips as you cracked your neck and jumped on the balls of your feet, trying to pump yourself up for what would surely be a heated exchange.
But it wouldn't be of malice. Oh no, this would be of love.
"Oh Gods, how I love him," you breathed out, heart hammering as you felt the love and ecstasy fill every crevice of your body. The shinobis were quiet around you, eyes widening as they took in your growing excitement to be reunited with him. Was this Uchiha such a bad guy? He was destroying the world in your name... He was destroying the world in the name of love. It was then, as they watched your lips part, that he wasn't an evil man.
He was a love-sick one.
"MADARA"
The fighting paused for a second, and your eyes locked with his. Everyone gasped as the air shifted from malevolence to adoration within seconds of the name leaving your lips. Not wanting to waste another moment, you hopped down from the cliff, heart soaring as you counted the seconds until you'd be in his arms again.
Madara raced towards you, no longer killing the shinobi that got in his way. Instead, he pushed them off. His only thought was you. He wanted you, no - NEEDED you.
And he is finally going to have you.
Your landing shook the ground; knees bent as you caught your breath. But you barely had a moment to stand fully as Madara swooped you into his embrace. The shinobi seemed to stop chasing him and stood confused at the soft display in front of them. Was this the same man they were fighting seconds ago? Were you his weak spot??
One shinobi moved, mind set on slaughtering you, but Madara shot a glare his way, daring him to proceed. The fear that coursed through him made him stop, and it finally clicked.
This was all for you.
Your hand forced Madara to look at you again, "No more fighting, I'm here now" Madara nodded at your words. The war now meant nothing to him, not with you being beside him again. "I can't stop Obito..." he whispered in slight shame. He hated disappointing you, and he was afraid that this would cause you to hate him, but the smile rising on your lips told him otherwise.
"They'll handle him... Why don't we go spar? We have a lot to catch up on... My love"

Some notes about my "Gramps Madara" au if y'all were curious.
Okay maybe this turned more into a whole collection of headcanons... :^)
So this started as just a silly little au where Madara Uchiha is just a skrunkly old OLD man.
He's just living his ultimate retirement and...healing?? I guess is a way to put it. But also being a pain for poor Obito.
Also the Uchiha clan is definitely not murdered.
Things of note:
Izuna still dies, I feel it's an important cornerstone of Madara's character development.
He was infatuated (maybe a little obsessed) with Hashirama ever since they first met but he never acts upon it, feeling that Hashirama has higher priorities than him. Haha RIP king u deserved better.
Madara is still "killed" by Hashirama and remains in hiding after resurrecting. Zetsu is there too! I consider him like to be a really chill houseplant.
While Hashirama and Tobirama are still alive, he stays in his hideout for years. Still researching and developing jutsus with Hashirama's DNA that he stole.
He refuses to join the Uchiha elders, thinking himself much more important than them but also not wanting to waste time in "pointless meetings".
He returns to the village when the Third Hokage begins his term. The Uchiha clan welcome him back, the rest of the village is still uneasy about him but he is allowed to live within the Uchiha compound.
He takes in Obito after the death of Obito's parents. In this case, Obito is just a baby.
Madara later takes in Mikoto who, in this au, also loses her parents when she's around 10 years old.
Oh God I've domesticated him....but I think he feels pity for them. He's lost family and seeing these orphaned kids sparks something in him. It's impulsive but now he finds himself with two kids wow!
For the first time in a long time, he looks forward to what life has to bring. Mikoto is wildly intelligent and takes her training very seriously. Obito is a strange child (in Madara's opinion) but he finds him amusing. They are a ragtag little family but Madara is proud of it.
Obito is still nearly killed during his mission at Kannabi Bridge. Madara rescues him and rehabilitates him still making use of Zetsu and Hashirama's DNA.
Mikoto eventually marries Fugaku (Madara doesn't approve of that but he won't argue with Mikoto) and moves out of the household.
As Madara gets older, Obito is responsible for him which basically means keeping him out of trouble.
When Mikoto has Itachi and Sasuke, he is very happy! Sasuke is his favorite because he reminds him of a young Izuna.
Madara has various hobbies, he's tired of war. He still likes fighting but like... sparring (still trying to find that high from when he used to fight with Hashirama).
He takes up art, falconry, *cough* collecting eyes *cough* it's for research and preventing the sharingan from falling into the wrong hands.
But yeah I think that covers the basics!

Vampire AU
Obito Uchiha
Tumblr media
🔥Years, decades, centuries. Obito has stopped counting the passage of time. It has become meaningless to him ever since he was turned into a vampire. Yet the hole in his heart still feels as fresh as ever. The images still haunt him today. The lifeless look in his love’s face, the feeling of her cold skin and the sticky blood on her body. Brutally murdered and then sucked dry by a vampire hidden among the villagers. Yet no one in his old village had ever dared to go after the vampire, too afraid of angering them. So Rin had just become another victim to appease the vampire for a while, the same who had also murdered his parents. Cowards. All of them. The death of Rin has shattered Obito and the consequences of this incident have influenced him until this age. With her death, his heart has died too. That’s why he didn’t feel anything when burning down the village he had learned to despite ever since that day nor did he feel any less horrified when confronting the vampire who had killed his parents and Rin despite having only been human that time. Obito left victorious yet scarred and as a vampire.
🔥You are a naïve young thing. Don’t you know better than to approach a stranger in the rain and offer him cover under your umbrella? A silly sickness you may worry he could catch if he would continue sitting beneath the pouring rain is the least thing you should have to concern yourself about. He could kill you within the blink of an eye yet Obito doesn’t do anything. He just sits there quietly, eyes hazy as he is with his thoughts far away. He’s thinking about Rin again and ignores you in favor of drowning in memories. You aren’t distracting him after all as you are considerate enough to notice the unspoken sorrow draped around his heart. You spend your time with him, even though he is barely acknowledging you yet clearly it doesn’t bother you. A considerable amount of time passes by until rays of sunshine fight their way through the rain clouds. That’s when you finally take your leave, say your goodbye to the strange man and apologize if your presence should have annoyed him in any way. You don’t notice the black eye trailing after you for the first time that day. What a funny human you are…
🔥There is a certain appeal, an attraction, a thrill whenever you spot the mysterious man. No one in your village seems to know of his existence. You are the only one and you can’t deny the feeling of specialness that accompanies this knowledge. The town you live in consists of a small community where everyone knows everyone and everything. But this man is your secret and selfishly you hope that you’ll be the only one who he ever shows himself to. Obito has grown to tolerate your presence at worst and enjoy it somewhat at best. Perhaps that is just because he appreciates that you aren’t annoying him with any persistent questions. You seem to be happy just to silently spend time with him and even if he knows that it’s because visitors are so rare in your town and that he’s only shown himself to you, he doesn’t bother to think too much about it. Maybe, just maybe your presence and personality is something refreshing to him and the hollow pain he has been calling his companion for so long now. It is comforting and even soothing to just spend time with you, although he has never exchanged a word with you.
🔥Curious and kind eyes that stare so intently at him and study his scarred visage without a hint of fear melt his cold and dead heart. A feeling is stirring awake inside of him. A feeling Obito thought had died on that day together with Rin. It manages to fill a hole in his heart that has been empty for too long. With the feeling of fulfillment soon comes a paranoia though that will soon burn everything in its path. With the gradual feeling of warmth and love that pulses through his body comes the immense fear to lose the source of his love once again. Obito fears the loss of you, fears the hollowness that would befall him again if that were to happen, worse than ever before. His body starts reacting whenever you get too close to him, itching to feel your warm skin against his cold skin and feel your heartbeat against his dead one. He despises your absence that tears open the gaping wounds on his heart that you just managed to soothe with your mere existence. He hates the loneliness he now has to endure because of your absence and so he starts stalking you. A silent shadow that watches every step you take and admires your sleeping form at night.
🔥Even through all of his paranoia, everything is still somewhat stable. Because you’re still there with him. He can never let go of the image of your face when he finally reveals his name to you. The look of astonishment and wonder in your eyes as you hear his voice for the first time before it turns into giddiness and joy before you excitedly tell him your own name. He’s known your name already as he has heard other people call you by it whenever he has been watching you without your knowledge. As long as he has you, Obito feels somewhat alright. But then those people try to take you away from him. In such a small village rumors and gossip get around quickly. An arranged marriage between you and the child of a farmer. The mere whisper of those words shatters something within him but it’s your tears that give him the final blow to his sanity when you come running to him the very next day. Your eyes are red and puffy as you sob as you have just gotten the news from your parents and feel utterly powerless as you can’t defy them. The feeling of muscular arms pressing you against his cold body surprises you. He’s never touched you before.
🔥His tight grip on you doesn’t loosen for a while as Obito clings onto you, promises you that everything will be alright. That he’ll take care of it.There is something that unsettles you about his voice and so you look up at his face. When your teary eyes meet his own, a look of lovesick infatuation crosses his face, one of his hands wiping away your tears as he starts cooing over you. You remember his black eye turning red before you lose consciousness. When you wake up again, the sky above you is dark… So why is it still so bright? You slowly stand up, sleepy and confused, as you start walking into the direction of the light. Fire. Your whole town swallowed up by the flames. You want to let out a scream but the horror silences you, only the cackling of the flames filling the air. There is a tightness in your chest, your hands trembling and your vision blurring with a new set of tears. The feeling of familiar arms wrapping themselves around you from behind nearly stops your heart, his sickening sweet voice telling you that he’s got rid of all of them. Icy lips trail across your neck, murmuring promises of eternal protection and love.
Konan
Tumblr media
🤍Konan’s childhood has been filled with suffering and hardships that some adults will never reach within their lives. She has grown up in a time of civil war where the community fell apart and groups with different beliefs emerged and fought against each other. Her own family who tried to stay out of the conflict unfortunately became a victim of the raging war as Konan was only a young girl when she witnessed both of her parents being killed right in front of her. From that day on, she was forced to learn how to survive on her own. Whilst other children spent their time dreaming and playing around, Konan had to survive on the streets. With no money available to buy anything, she had to learn how to steal food, clothes and everything else that she might need. She can’t even count all of the times she was caught and beaten when caught in the act of stealing, only spared because she was a young child. Forced to run, hide, steal and kill for survival. Perhaps that is why she shows courage in front of a vampire when even whilst mortally wounded. She does not fear death as she has never truly lived anyways. What courage.
🤍Up until this day she doesn’t truly know why the vampire chose to save her life. Was it admiration or pity that moved them to turn her into an immortal being? She will never find the answer to that as she hasn’t seen her creator in nearly 300 years. Time has passed within the blink of an eye and the war is long over. What used to be a destroyed graveyard of a town is now a modern city and the brutal civil war is now part of history books. It is strange, to see all those smiling faces who have never experienced anything even remotely close to what she has gone through. Drawn to the place that used to be her home though, Konan still visits this place every few years to see how much it has changed once again. Truly nothing seems to be eternal except her kind as even empires crumble eventually. She enjoys visiting libraries and reading books in a quiet and peaceful environment. It is during one of her visits that she meets you for the first time. You’re a student majoring in history with your nose literally stuck in loads of books as you nearly walk against her, unable to see behind the pile of books.
🤍As you are aiming to major in history by the end of university, the library is one of your sacred places. Konan spots you quite often there, borrowing books and giving them back or just sitting on one of the tables and scribbling quickly down everything you can write down. You’re diligent and quick but she can sense that your studies stress you out. You smell constantly of coffee, the caffeine keeping you late at night alive to finish your paperwork and the lack of good sleep has led you to be more clumsy and accident-prone. It’s such a pity that you stress yourself out to such an extent because Konan genuinely likes you. You’re adorable, scatter-brained and somewhat shy as you are in an awkward phase in your life. Most admirable is your genuine interest in history though as you find it fascinating to research the past and compare ideas and ideologies from back then with current developments today. Sometimes you get so excited that you dump a short history lesson on her but she just listens intently, sometimes correcting you when you got something wrong.
🤍Konan has remained detached from humans ever since she was turned. She knows the bad reputation vampires have, even if most people nowadays only view them as a legend. Her eternal lifespan is only additional weight she has to carry as she knows that a human’s life is but a mere blink for her. She knows that she shouldn’t spend so much time with you, knows that she shouldn’t start catching feelings. Yet feelings remain the same, no matter whether she is a human or a vampire. Maybe it is also the loneliness of 300 years talking out of her that makes her enjoy your presence so much. Your curiosity is refreshing and your willingness to accept the wrongdoings of the country you grew up in and the conviction that it’s important to learn from the mistakes of the past impress her and your excited rambling whenever she shows interest in your studies only adds to everything. Those growing feelings make her all the more worried for you though. She senses how much you start stressing yourself out as exams come around. She watches you without your knowledge skipping sleep in favor of not missing the deadline.
🤍Just like that you suddenly get a secretive caretaker. Someone who somehow manages to slip notes in your apartment , especially in your own bedroom, to remind you to go to sleep in time. Someone who buys you food and drinks and places them in front of your door. Someone who always seems to know what you are doing and where you are. In modern terms you would call that a stalker so despite the kind intent behind those actions, you start freaking out. Whilst Konan understands your increase in paranoia, she can’t deny the tinge of sadness when she sees how negatively you react to her gifts. She decides to stop though in order to not add to your increasing stress. The damage seems to be already done though as she doesn’t see you anymore in the library. You have decided to stay inside your apartment out of anxiety to be followed again. Instead you start working like a maniac to finish your essays and to study for your exams. When she finally breaks into your house after a few days of not having seen you, she finds your unconscious form hunched over your desk. You’ve fainted from overwork.
🤍No one can tell you who it was that contacted the hospital. You can’t remember anything either. It is a mystery that haunts. It must be the same person who wrote you notes and bought you stuff. With a high fever due to malnourishment, you don’t have enough time to worry as much as you could. You decide to take the time in the hospital to just rest properly. It’s night already when you stir awake from your ill slumber, a gust of wind caressing your hot face. Has someone opened the window? You recognize a silhouette standing in your room, highlighted by the silver light from the moon reaching through the window. Cold fingers reach out to touch your heated skin, the contrast almost pleasant if it wouldn’t be for your fear. Who is that? You can recognize golden eyes glowing in the dark, the voice of a woman soothingly talking to you. She seems familiar… From where do you know her? Your mind in your ill state works too slow to process everything properly as the cold touches lure you back into your sleep. When a nurse enters your room to check on you, there’s only the chilly wind and the empty bed greeting her.
Deidara
Tumblr media
💥Deidara has grown up in a family known for being passionate artists yet unfortunately no one around him seemed to value the art that his family created. Everyone was only focused on money, riches and food as the service of his family was rarely requested. There was only little money that his parents were able to earn and it was barely enough to get by. Going to bed hungry without any food in his stomach became a common experience for Deidara yet he knew better than to complain and whine for something he knew his parents couldn’t give him. As he grew older, he eventually parted ways with his parents when they decided to finally give up their dreams. Even if they had down it to earn enough money for the family, Deidara has never been able to forgive them for throwing away their passion for such a crude thing such as money. He set out to find his own special art and it was on one of those journeys that he had his deadly encounter with the very vampire who ended up turning him. Yet strangely enough Deidara never mourned the loss of his humanity. After all with his time limit now removed, he could truly perfect his art.
💥Deidara hasn’t been a vampire for that long. It has only been a few years. His level of self-control still isn’t nowhere near as good as it could be. That is why his throat feels dry and thirst suddenly overcomes him when he picks up the scent of blood on one evening. His pupils widen and he bares his sharp fangs ever so slightly as he follows that irresistible aroma. He’s sure that he would have killed you on that night if it wouldn’t have been for you lighting up those fireworks despite accidentally cutting yourself. The colorful explosions and the sounds of the fireworks going off is what forces his senses to focus on something besides the smell of your blood. And just like that he is in awe of what he sees as explosions are something Deidara has discovered for himself too in those past few years where he has become a vampire. He’s just standing behind you and watching the fireworks in silent admiration before a startled shout from you disturbs his admiration when you suddenly spot him in the darkness. He apologizes for his unannounced appearance before he quickly walks away to quench his thirst elsewhere.
💥Yet Deidara isn’t going to leave you just like that. Not after what he has seen you lighting up fireworks, something that is still a new invention in the human world and for that rare. He hunts down someone from a village close to where he is, the village where you most likely live, before he approaches you again. He’s quite excited when he spots you again after searching for you, eager to talk with you about what you have done yesterday. You on the other hand look mildly mortified when you recognize him, your eyes nervously darting around when he mentions that he is the person who saw you yesterday in the forest. Before he can say anything more though, you usher him quickly somewhere else. It isn’t until you are sure that no one is around anymore, something that he can confirm with his enhanced senses, that you’re willing to engage in a conversation with him. You make it very clear that Deidara should never tell anyone about in the village what he has seen you do yesterday. The blonde man is confused but just agrees out of curiosity for you to continue explaining to him and because you look cute when you’re nervous.
💥You confess to him that the creation of fireworks within your village is strictly forbidden. It is not only because in the rural area you live in such an invention is still foreign and largely unknown but also because everyone, especially the elder people who still make a lot of the rules within the town, fear the dangers of accidents that might happen. That’s why you have to make everything your own in a secret place you created within the forest and have to keep it a secret that you create something the villagers have forbidden anyone living here to make. As a fellow artist with the same fascination and love for explosions, Deidara’s heart goes out for you. Why must the ignorance of others hold back an artist’s passion? He quickly offers to help you, to help you to perfect your dream of creating the most beautiful and perfect firework. Even if you would try to tell him that he doesn’t have to lend you a hand, he doesn’t listen to you. He’s far too stubborn to listen to anybody as he volunteers to get you every tool you need to build fireworks in secret. As a fellow artist, it is his duty to help you to perfect your creation.
💥Far too quickly you seem to recognize that he has caught feelings for you. How could you not when he constantly looks at you either that stupidly infatuated smile on his face? Deidara feels like he has found his soulmate, his princess to protect in you. Both of you are after all stuck in the same dilemma as artists under-appreciated and misunderstood by the public. He’s set on showering you all the more in praise and love in return for every little thing you do. He’s going to help you to fulfill your passion as he assists you in making everything and even happily shows you his own art he has been working on. As an artist you approve of it but in his already delusional mind he takes every compliment as another confession of love from your side. He despises it whenever you have to leave him, cold arms thrown around your body as he whines and begs for you to spend some more time with him. You remain firm in your decisions to leave him though, giving him no other choice besides stalking you. He can’t help but develop a passionate hatred against your town though as he views them as oppressors who hinder your art.
💥Soon that hatred turns into a twisted idea. Why doesn’t he free you from your shackles? Both of you could create wonderful art together. Enraptured by this idea and his sick delusion convincing him that you’ll show him only gratitude for it, he starts scattering his clay bombs everywhere within the village. He even gifts some of them to people in the village under the disguise of them being only sculptures. That same night he excitedly drags you up a hill further away from the village with a huge grin on his face. He has something amazing to show you. As soon as both of you have climbed the hill, he uses the abilities he had gained since becoming a vampire to activate all the bombs. You can only watch in horror, Deidara only in ecstasy as every bomb goes off. The sight of your tears confuses Deidara, a frown on his face as his palms try to wipe them away yet new ones keep on flowing down your face. What’s wrong? Why are you crying? Through your tears you catch a glimpse of his sharp fangs and suddenly freeze in shock. What now? Oh, that’s right… He totally forgot to tell you that he is a vampire.

What does it feel like to be a sacrifice?
(This post is inspired by this amazing analysis by @michael-gh0st. Please check it out guys it’s very good).
I feel like the Uchiha characters illustrate the cruelty of a collective mindset. It’s always them who are sacrificed for the collective.
The individual’s suffering is never taken into account yet justified by the collective.
-Izuna > sacrificed for his clan
-Madara > sacrificed for “peace”
-Obito > sacrificed to protect his teammates
-Sasuke > no family or culture/ losing his identity for “peace”
We see the suffering of these individuals due to this mindset.
-In Izuna’s case, we saw how his death drove Madara to be suicidal in his battle against the Senju. Izuna himself suffers a horrible fate by dying very young (24).
-In Madara’s case, the backstab that lead to his death broke him and led him to detach himself from reality itself. He still remembers this moment in the fourth war.
-In Obito’s case, he sacrifices himself back near Madara’s cave to protect his teammates thereby entrusting Rin to Kakashi. Him seeing Rin perform the exact action as him disillusioned him. He saw first hand the down side of a collective mindset. A culture being built on the blood of its own people. Rin’s death is like a wake up call to him I think causing him to open his eyes very clearly. I honestly think Kishi made Rin’s death bring “light” to Obito since Obito doesn’t have a brother to take his eyes after he dies.
If you notice both Madara and Sasuke awaken EMS after the death of their beloved brothers and it’s the EMS that gives them foresight. With the EMS they see the hypocrisy of the shinobi world and fight to change it.
Obito doesn’t have this luxury so it’s Rin’s death (person he loved the most at the time) that gives him “light” instead of awakening EMS.
There’s a similarity between these 3 deaths. Itachi, Izuna, and Rin died sacrificing themselves for something. Itachi sacrificed himself so that he could protect Sasuke by giving him his eyes. Izuna sacrificed himself for his clan’s safety. Rin sacrificed herself to prevent the bijuu inside of her from being used to harm Konoha.
Something something the Uchiha are intrinsically linked to the theme of sacrifice in the manga.
I mean even sharingan reflects that.
What awakens the sharingan?
The act of losing a great love so its sacrifice that awakens the sharingan in an Uchiha.
Notice it’s the act of sacrifice by a beloved in the 3 Uchiha’s case that drove them to change?
-Sasuke decides to destroy Konoha after Itachi’s sacrifice.
-Madara decides to build Konoha after Izuna’s sacrifice.
-Obito decides to join Madara after Rin’s sacrifice.
It’s like sacrifice is a catalyst for their journey. They all honor their beloved’s sacrifice in a way.
(Side note: I think this is inspired by the tale of the galliant Jiraiya since Kishi said that the Uchiha’s story is heavily inspired by it. Basically Jiraiya is orphaned due to the massacre of his clan by orochimaru (there’s another one 😂) and he goose on to avenge them just like Sasuke! Jiraiya is injured by orochimaru and his sister sacrifices herself by stabbing herself to give her blood to him so he can heal. Jiraiya honors her sacrifice by avenging his clan).
Or maybe it’s the act of sacrifice that wakes them up to reality? Experiencing first hand the downside of shinobi mantra? Kill the few to make the many prosper.
I feel like this is true in Madara’s case since he was sacrificed for Konoha. It’s him dying this way that kickstarts the entire plot. He experienced the horror of shinobi mantra which strengthened his resolve to change it.
Or maybe Kishi was reflecting through the Uchiha’s suffering the downside of the collective society?
If you think about it Konoha flourishes to this day not just due to the Uchiha massacre but also the downfall of surviving members. Itachi’s story reflects this since he was the ultimate shinobi (read: tool).
Sasuke declining to get revenge and becoming shadow hokage mirrors Itachi. Madara is similar in that it’s him declining to get revenge for Izuna that leads to Konoha’s formation. Obito helps Naruto and Co win the war by sacrificing himself.
The antagonists’ sacrifices are integral for the shinobi world to progress. A world built on the blood and suffering of its inhabitants. What’s worse is the suffering of these people goes unacknowledged instead lauded as a heroic act. A very cruel world.
A world built on sacrifices just like Madara said
Tumblr media
You know the manga raises a good question about our society.
Is it truly worth it for the individual to suffer this much?
These characters suffered immensely and they reflect a struggle in our real world where war is rampant.
War being waged for at times petty reasons like to flourish an economy of another country causing children to be orphaned, women being widowed, and young men losing their lives seem as necessary sacrifices and sometimes lauded as martyrs.
Is it worth it?
I guess that’s what Kishi was reflecting on.
Or maybe I’m just being annoying overthinking this 😂
Anyways long story short Madara was right.
Mutuals what do you think? I would love to hear your opinions on this matter since their always insightful.

Sarada is a trash fire of a character, and her Magekyou looks hideous as fuck. I must confess: I don’t even like Itachi (in case, after all my discourse on this guy, you were still unsure), but his Mangekyou Sharingan (MS) is fucking beautiful! He has a very sharp Shuriken pattern, which is also quite thin to facilitate the throw, if you haven’t noticed; and that represents his connection to the whole “Shinobi” mantra: it’s one of the few most common tools used in the manga by Shinobis, though his is closer to the Fuma Shuriken pattern that Sasuke always uses. So, regardless of Kishimoto’s fumbles (whom I don’t blame that much due to his brutal schedules), there’s some very good narrative depth to his design. Shisui’s Mangekyou is also very much like a Shuriken, only with one additional point and added thickness. And they were friends. Not that surprising, now is it?
Obito’s MS has a much sharper Shuriken pattern, with long points jutting out of the ends to connect to the next Shuriken projection. It’s almost as if it’s an uncommon Shuriken, like Obito who in the past wanted to assume the seat but then veered away from it quite violently. Obito, as shown in the manga, wields very large Shurikens. He throws gigantic-sized ones out of his Kamui’s Pocket Dimension, enough to slice clean through Hachibi’s tentacles; the very same tentacles it’d used to guard against the Jubi’s Bijuu Dama and create a whirlwind that destroyed a sizable portion of the forest and broke apart stone and rock with ease. (He took out three of its legs with these house-sized Shurikens, and his eye pattern, save that stylized sharp points, is very much like the Shurikens he uses.)
Madara’s MS is nothing like the aforementioned. His looks as if the Sharingan’s Tomoes themselves have coalesced into a spinning pattern. An evidence of his desire to see his clan be free. Prosper. His brother Izuna has a very interesting MS pattern. Basically, to me, it looks like the Uchiha Fan Symbol from all three sides, each with its own holding part. If you place three fans on top of one another and point out the sticks in different directions, it’d appear very much like this pattern. What a surprise that Izuna didn’t trust the Senju and died the same way? It’s almost as if his MS reflects that? It could also be the Hitobashira pillar from a top-down view, especially if you take away the additional points, which could just be handles for turning the pillar, making this more ghastly than the aforementioned interpretation. I’m not too sure of this visual interpretation, but given that Izuna became a sort of sacrificial lamb, a pillar for Madara’s evolution and Leaf’s creation, for Leaf and the illusion of peace the alliance offered to the Uchiha, I’m not too far off from this. Even Madara thought that the “bridge” of peace, one of the aspects for which the pillars were created in the past, between the two clans that Hashirama proposed was built on his brother’s sacrifice. The Hitobashira pillars represent the wantonness of the utilitarian mindset, kill the few to make the many prosper, one which permeates Leaf to this day. Maybe I am spot on about this!
Sasuke is naturally the holder of the most unique pattern. His is a flower that possesses six petals, not three, one with inverted design unlike the rest: red pattern against a black background, which makes it so that the entire clan resides in him as the red is very large and very pronounced, a rising sun pattern from the fan that finds most ground in his eyes. Also, what is more pronounced in the forest, a flower or a leaf? A flower is far more rare, and a striking red one is even rarer, especially since it’s blooming among countless leaves that are very common. That makes Sasuke the uncommon among the common. A boy that means business. One that won’t let go and can’t go unnoticed in the vastness of the forest. I think what I said is self-explanatory.
(I’m very undecided on Indra’s pattern as that spiral won’t be a correct representation of what he actually had; it’s more of a depiction of a circular pattern, but one which has become myth; still, a spiral represents repetition that takes the same path every single time; and as a Transmigrat that chose champions in every era of conflict, it does fit.)
Sarada’s? Her pattern looks like one of those pointy rings that I’ve seen in my drains, and I’m not even lying: it looks that similar. Kishimoto isn’t even trying, is he? He doesn’t care, does he? God, what an ugly design that doesn’t mean anything visually. Is this your Kween, one who sports an eye-sore of a Sharingan pattern and wants to take over the state that butchered her father’s family in a bid to “right the wrongs” of the Uchiha Clan (what a great pro-oppression narrative Boruto is turning out to be; they aren’t even sneaky about it; it’s mask off pro-fascism up in this Uchiha bitch)? I’d even take Itachi over her. At least, he had some merits, speculative ones, but merits nonetheless. You lot can have her as I forsake Boruto a long time ago, and from the looks of it, I made the right call!

Yandere! Obito x Reader Scenario
I'm genuinely so unwell for yandere Obito right now. Or maybe that's just me about Obito in general.... This is a very long post, and decently canon compliant. I'm willing to write more, but this specific storyline has been in my brain.
-Obito didn't start off as a yandere. He was the sweet and kind boy we all know. He understood boundaries and right from wrong. Its why he was able to love Rin, but never try to force her to love him back.
-When he sees Rin die, he truly believed there was no one else in the world who cared about him. His grandmother was dead, and after Kakashi was the one to kill Rin, any respect he had for his teammate died.
-Though Madara's manipulation of the boy convinced him rather easy to give up on the world, a small part of him wondered if he is truly alone. With the task he was taking up to become the savior of the world, he needed allies.
-As he replayed his childhood over and over in his mind, he realized that someone else besides Rin cared about him, you. You often chatted with him, but he never really thought much of it. You weren't Rin after all. However, he did remember that you asked about his grandmother, didn't tell him off about being late, and even offered to tutor him once in a while.
-You even told him that you supported his dream of being Hokage. Of course you had to explain that Rin was the one who told you about it. Obito would have never have confided in you about his dreams.
-However, that was then. He had much to consider now especially with Kakashi's "betrayal" still burning his heart.
-He had a lot of time to think about what he should do about you. How would you fit in his dream world? Would you want to help him?
-Most of his worries centered on whether you still cared about him for all these years. Surely you of all people would have moved on. After all, its not as if he was totally sure your feelings were even strong enough to be useful to him.
-One day, when he expected to spend sometime of his own at Rin's grave, he saw you walking around. You paid respects to the war monument running a gloved finger over his name. Bingo. He could work with that.
-Something irked him though. If he wasn't Obito anymore, how could he bring you over to his side? What could "Madara" say that you'd be willing to listen to? No, no that wasn't the real problem. He could find a way. The dark circles under your eyes were enough for him to be certain that more deaths than his had effected you.
-So then what was it? Something told him he'd know if he spent some time studying you. Within two days, he was able to find out anything he needed to know about your schedule, including where you lived.
-He didn't know what he was looking for as he scanned your apartment. It was plain and about what he had expected from what he remembered about you. He almost left as soon as he arrived, but he still lacked the answers he had come there for.
-A rather innocent selection of framed photos sat on your desk. Some of your family, some of your friends now, some of your summoning animals, all of these didn't stick out much in his mind. While there was none of you and a singular person, he just assumed that any romantic trysts were short lived for you. He pushed down the feeling of relief he had at the thought.
-In your bedroom, he saw it. It was clearly a shrine. Though it was nothing like picture board he had of Rin. It was truly a shrine to pay respects to the dead. A well used incense stick sat precariously in its holder next to a very small picture frame. He might have passed over the sight if it weren't for the fragrance of fresh flowers mixing with the smell of ash. The little vase was filled with wildflowers and a singular chrysanthemum. It felt a bit eerie even to him staring at the image of the boy he once was.
-He wondered, do you die every day when you wake up like he did? Did you... miss him? Clearly he was important to you otherwise it wouldn't be his picture sitting there. You must have loved him.... You must still love him. This was perfect! All he needed was to convince you that you could be with him in the Infinite Tsukuyomi, right?
-Once the idea latched into his head it just wouldn't leave him. The thought that you'd do anything for him. That as long as it was him, you'd be willing to betray everyone. No else mattered to you right? No one else had the honor of being prayed for every day so it had to be true. His thoughts about your devotion intoxicated him. He wanted to throw caution into the wind, but his desires would be fulfilled much later. The genjutsu's version of you would get to confess to him and he'd let you have a taste of him before he married Rin. The fake you who cried for the fake him wasn't someone he needed. Certainly, he could wait.
-He couldn't.
-You start to notice things missing in your apartment. At first it was benign things, like a worn out hair band or a pair of chopsticks you ate with more than the others. You chalked those things up to carelessness on your part.
-Next, the number of flowers you placed in the vase seemed to change. Usually it was the wildflowers you picked from the forest, which didn't bother you. Maybe you dropped one on the way back home. The week the carnation went missing, you pretended that you didn't remember buying it.
-Then, came a bra or panties you swore up and down you knew were in your dirty clothes. You particularly liked them, but maybe your non-shinobi friend that looked after your apartment accidentally took them home when she helped wash your laundry during your last mission.
-Finally, you noticed your journal from when you were a kid missing. It wasn't something you handled much so you just assumed that you lost it in moving. It hurt since the little trinkets you kept taped to the pages were all you had of some of people now.
-Obito kept your things in the Kamui dimension. They were the safest there. Where he could protect them. Especially your diary. His most prized possessions. It was so personal. It was oddly thrilling to be the hero , the object of desire, the prize to win. He'd never felt so loved.
-Zetsu would have bring him out of his stupor. He was wasting time stalking you. Obito would have to remind him that he was the one in charge. However, he had much to do and he needed to move pieces around in other villages. He'd have to come back for you if he fond the time.
-Obito would try to manipulate things to get you to desert the village. Maybe he'd ensure a close teammate of yours was killed or that you'd see a particularly cruel atrocity so you'd be disillusioned with the world. He wants you to come with him willingly. Pawns that weren't staunchly loyal would only hurt him in the long run. He would hate to have to put you down instead of giving you the dream you deserved. He would never purposefully tell you who he really is unless he was sure . It would be hard to keep away, but seeing you serving him would keep his desires in check. He could keep an eye on you properly this way. You might even smile for him if he played his cards right.
-If that wouldn't work, he would only kidnap you if you somehow recognize him when you see him as Tobi/Madara. It would be out of pure excitement. Of course you'd recognize him! You have everything about him memorized. You'd know "the man you loved" no matter what happened to him! Years didn't mean anything to you.
-He'd try to act stoic for you, but on the inside he was bursting. It must be overwhelming for you to even believe he is alive after all this time. He'd cherish your tears whether of joy or sorrow at the proof that it really is him.
-Nothing would prepare him for a cold or confused reaction. Depending on how much you understood about the Akatsuki you might even hate him for what he had done. That would just be proof that this you is fake.
-If you thought he was ugly, he wouldn't even feel sad. "The me you'll get to love in the Infinite Tsukiyomi won't have these scars. Everything will be to your preference. Don't you want to make that happen? Doesn't that sound like a perfect dream?"
-He wouldn't kill you if you continued to fight him. He'd just leave you to starve in the Kamui dimension alone . As long as you didn't stop him, he wouldn't hurt you. That's all he would need.
-Feeding into the delusions he had been crafting is more dangerous than trying to refute them. It would mean that he'd feel justified in stalking and stealing your things. It would mean that you really do want him to "save" you from this cruel world.
-He'd expect you to fight on his side no questions asked. In return, he'd let you be close to him. He'd give you a bit of intimacy that could be built upon in the Infinite Tsukuyomi. It doesn't matter if you say you don't want it, he knows you are just acting embarrassed for being called out. He'd show you your journal and let you know he understood everything. Straying from this path once you're on it would lead to the death of anyone you have ties with. He would make sure that you'll have no distractions.
-He wouldn't accept that you'd be happy with just being with him if you went that angle to convince him. Obito knows deep down that you would much rather be with the version of him who returned to the village and became Hokage. He isn't that man. Even if he finds himself more in love with you than Rin, he can't just go back to living a normal life. Nothing would feel real. Nothing could feel real.
-Alternatively, if he sees you again during the Fourth Great War, he'd be able to keep himself in check better. He wouldn't want to kill you and would be less likely to lash out if you were angry with him.
-He'd be more focused on converting you to his ideals. Though he'd offer you getting to be with him, he'd save it as a last card. If that didn't work he'd just break your spirit so you wouldn't get in his way.

[[ love your post about itachi vs obito, but i wanna add! a lot of itachi haters blame itachi for sasuke learning the truth and sasuke "forgiving him", when it was Obito who spilled the beans and made itachi look sympathetic. itachi never wanted sasuke to forgive him, but itachi antis constantly overlook that as if itachi himself begged at sasuke's feet lmao. ]]
Oh, yes. That's another brand of stupidity that exists in the fandom. They take Obito's words verbatim when he says the clan was oppressed, but keep looking for the excuses when he also says Itachi was a victim. After Obito, Danzo confirms it.
Tumblr media
And then Hiruzen does the same.
Tumblr media
Adding further:
Tumblr media
But - but... This isn't canon because the "nuances" to why Danzo and Hiruzen are saying nice things about Itachi must be considered. :) :) And those nuances always lead to the conclusion that Itachi was pure evil who woke up and chose violence, even if they can't produce a single penal as evidence other than their hurt feelings.
These people are angry as if Itachi himself wanted Sasuke to forgive him when that's not true. Even when Edo Itachi met Sasuke in the woods, he tries to evade him. His last effort to keep Sasuke from fighting for him, which he'd learned from Naruto, was Sasuke going to do. He didn't ever want Sasuke to fight for him, honour him and, most importantly, lose his friends for him. He believed - and maybe even hoped - Sasuke would never learn his truth and suffer as a result, and his negative opinion on Itachi would never falter. And then he outright stated - You don't ever have to forgive me.
What is so convoluted about it that people can't understand this?
If this isn't enough, some people claim that Edo Itachi was trying to "manipulate" Sasuke into loving him because he treated Sasuke with kindness. The other half of this tribe rants that Itachi was "cruel" for being aloof and distant and should have shown more affection.
But.. I'm sorry, but what do you want?
Tumblr media
Where is consistency? Where is consistency in your hatred?
These people refuse to see Itachi as a human being. They forget that the Shinobi world, on the whole, is like a living, breathing monster that feeds on young children and even adults' grief. Being dead didn't mean Itachi was in therapy. He lived and died with so much pain and never, ever experienced happiness. We don't love him because "he never did anything wrong", but because he did everything wrong and owned up to all of it, even if all of it wasn't entirely his fault when these two bastards existed.
Tumblr media
If people can see Sasuke, Kakashi, Naruto living hellish life as budding Shinobi and then pretend Itachi was just born with this evil streak who did horrible things because he was bored, I'm not going to take them seriously.

In your last ask about Tori being reborn into Naruto, one of the tags mentions the akatsuki being reborn? Do you mind going into that? As in the akatsuki being reborn into different villages after they die?
no, the premise is more like a time travel fic where the time travelers end up in their younger bodies. so the akatsuki are still themselves but now they have.... Future Knowledge(tm). i've been going back and forth a lot on how this would change their decision making processes because obviously some of them could have huge effects on the canon plot. kakuzu, for example, is old enough he could probably prevent any ninja village from being founded in he played his cards right.
some ideas:
i am intrigued by the idea of kakuzu killing hashirama and preventing konoha from ever happening, but also this isn't the story to explore that. instead he decides to fuck off and be a missing-nin earlier, because he doesn't want to fuck with his village any more than he has to
hidan makes zero changes to his life. good job, hidan
sasori still makes himself a puppet, but maybe does it when he's older? like i feel like when i was 16 i was like "yeah, being a teenager forever is a good idea" but as an adult i'm like "but sasori would be so hot if he actually looked 35?" also he might get taller. so i think with the wisdom of age he might wait a bit. i also feel like he might have the motivation/ability to interfere in how the war that killed his parents went (i think it was the second one?) but that's another moving piece i'm still rotating
i haven't decided how this is going to play out in plasticity, but for this AU let's say konan and pein understand zetsu/obito's roles in ruining the world. they preemptively murder obito, oops. depending on how they do this (and how aware minato is of how obito died), it means ame's relationship with konoha could look REAL different. also not 100% sure what i want to do with yahiko/ame in general. still rotating this part
konan and pein's intervention does mean minato & kushina are still alive and kicking. itachi is confused but he's going with this. danzo's still a slimeball but the massacre isn't really on the table anymore. i'm also leaning towards a scenario where itachi is really, really bad at pretending to be A Normal Child and ends up in ANBU even earlier and is confused about why he's unhappy with this
without obito around to brainwash the mizukage, kiri is more stable and kisame is just chugging along there (although he's firmer about turning down some missions--- and good enough no one can really argue with him)
Deidara's origin story in Plasticity is that his family is just some farmers with proto-mouth hands and Iwa is paying them to churn out a bunch of children to see if they can make a new bloodline limit. Some of the gamete donors are likely ninja, but Deidara was born on a farm and not slorped up into the Iwa system never to see his family again until he was Academy age. Post time travel, Deidara remembers family never paid much attention to him, and he has no reason to want to go back to Iwa, so he just runs away at like age 5
The crux of all this is that none of them actually knows the entire akatsuki has time traveled. Like Nagato and Konan obviously know the other one time traveled and everyone is aware this timeline is Different, but it hasn't occurred to anyone to seek out other members and they don't bump into each other organically because they're all in very different parts of the world. Since she's the main character, obviously Tori gets to the catalyst for people running into each and pointing like the spiderman meme
Since Tori doesn't HAVE a family in Ninjaland to be reborn into, she's brought up as an orphan in a ninja clan that unaffiliated with any village. I just like the idea that there's still some of these kicking around. Since she's not a real part of the family, she gets treated like shit and doesn't really get formal ninja training. B U T the family heads are entering Cahoots with Orochimaru and he's like: what's this? Spare orphans???
Orochimaru obviously eventually completely fucks over the family (maybe they have some interesting kekkai genkai/jutsu he just runs off with while their home burns), but Tori knows exactly what to say and how to act to get into his good graces. But ALSO she's acutely aware she's playing a very dangerous game and abandons ship a few years later, preferably in a very dramatic way where she screws over Orochimaru as much as she can.
(Revenge? She's not worried about that. This is only endearing herself to him.)
I'm going back and forth on what her ~abilities~ are, but I want to keep that she has no elemental affinity. I also can't see her as someone whose gut reaction to a situation would be "I can fight my way out of this" even if she's technically been trained to be competent at it. What she DOES have is a new and creative ways to push the field of fuinjutsu forward. Also toyed around with the idea of misappropriating medical jutsu to fuck shit up? she is not a taijutsu specialist but you should not fight her hand-to-hand, oops
(also, yes, she can throw knives now)
Tori is right between Deidara and Itachi in age so I was thinking while she's wandering around as a 12 year old feral ninja or whatever she is, she somehow runs into Deidara? And then something goes EXTREMELY WEIRD and they both end up in Konoha. This Deidara is technically affiliated with Iwa, but he was never one of them and he's obviously a genius, so I think most of Konha leadership would be like :EYES EMOJI: at him? Tori was affiliated with Konoha's scariest missing-nin, so.... that's suspicious, but also something something she's deidara one friend and that kid needs someone else's braincell.
so, my EXTREMELY convoluted and cracktastic take was then: Minato needs to do something super sneaky at a Chunin Exam for some reason. He wants to send in a fake genin team as entrants, but he'd prefer to use younger shinobi so there's less suspicion. Kushina has been bugging him for a genin team for years. He gives her the extra super special DISASTER team of Itachi, Deidara and Tori*
*tbh i don't super like kushina but i like the idea of her as tori's mentor. their personalities are VERY different but i think kushina would ave a lot of sympathy for a young girl trying to settle into a foreign village, oh and also do you want to do something wild with yogurt

I’m no Naruto expect, so maybe I’m just missing context, but I still think one of the wildest things about obito is how he was tobi.. and then acted all serious in the last war like…. Dude, you know that everyone knows you’re actually a clown right..?????
The craziest thing is how he never dropped the serious act after he took the mask off till he DIED. Man was committed.
I gave some thought to maybe the tobi character was an act, but no, I just don’t believe that sense of humor and chaotic energy can be anything but genuine 🤔
I just really wonder what was going through his head.. Thoughts??
The first time I watched Naruto I was a believer of GuruGuru still "controlling" Tobi's/Obito's actions. Now that I rewatched the series that definetly wasn't the case, but it's so fucking crazy to think about. How did the same guy who started the 4th Great War, commited genocide and became the 10 tails jinchuuriki play whac-a-mole with the Konoha ninja?! The same guy that kept messing around in serious fights? The fact Obito even had to change his voice to the high-pitched Tobi one to goof around. I personally think Obito mostly did this so people would "underestimate" him and not see him as a great threat. Of course the moment his act wasn't needed anymore and he could play "Madara" again, he dropped his unserious act. I honestly don't remember much from the Itachi VS Sasuke arc. (It's not like Obito acted "non-threatening" for Itachi, because Itachi knew of his "Madara" identity since he asked his aid for the Uchiha massacre. I don't know what I'm babbling about right now.) But just imagine 30 year old Obito acting like a clown. My reason to keep going on in life.

Obito-lives-instead-of-Kakashi AUs are great and all but I'd like to remind everyone that this team was a TRIO of kids. Therefore, considering Obito saved his buddy (Kakashi) and then asked him to protect his poor little meow meow (Rin):
Rin would save her buddy (Obito) and then ask him to protect her poor little meow meow (Kakashi).
While Kakashi would save his buddy (Rin) and then ask her to protect his poor little idiot meow meow (Obito).
Rin meeting Madara would be fascinating. Madara would want to manipulate her into getting Obito to help him, or at least be bait, right? But no way would Rin even consider his shit until she sees Kakashi rip out his own heart out in front of Obito. She'd realize that Obito is the target. Her best, last, only friend. Loyalty to the village took Kakashi away from her—she is not losing Obito. And definitely not in a situation where it would be her fault again. She'd have one bargaining chip: she's the Tony Stark of medicine (a magic eye transplant! in a cave! with a box of scraps!) and Madara hasn't seen a medical professional since the founding of Konoha. She can't heal him or anything (absolutely not, that would take away from her badass villainous screentime) but she can keep him in a near-immortal vegetative state, enough for him to keep the Rinnegan, maybe pop his head up/get Zetsu'd during emergencies, and not even need resurrecting in the future. In return for helping Madara brainwash the world, of course. Intrigued—and also Obito just unlocked his Mangekyou and obliterated everything in the vicinity and then vanished, so he's out of reach for now—Madara takes the deal.
Kakashi meeting Madara would be a lot different, however, because we're only changing the rocks-fall-somebody-dies scene. Kakashi's already had his Turning Point Moment with Obito. Even when he sees Obito kill himself, he's jammed in friends-first mode and there isn't a crowbar in the world big enough to wedge him out of it. Obito killing himself to avoid capture would just cement it. So instead we say that Hatake blood, a little like Uzumaki blood, is special—it allows them to survive things like Sharingan transplants. So, through kinjutsus and Zetsus and whatever else he could cobble together, Madara flat-out forces Kakashi to be the enacter of his plan. After all Kakashi has always been a weapon, first and foremost, his own soul set aside. It's really just more of the same.
These work for the final battle, especially. In canon, Kakashi is all about legacy and the parts of himself which is made of other people. Obito, original owner of his eye and most of his philosophy, is therefore the perfect foil. (And Naruto, who is strengthened by that same legacy but not strangled by it, is the hero.)
Rin would be a villain in the same vein as Sasori. She's been puppeting Madara's almost-corpse around, a nightmarish necromancer and her pet zombie. But conversely, Madara has also been puppeting her through their deal. She works as a foil because Obito wants to be (or is?) Hokage, puppetmaster of Konoha, and the Uchiha (mostly alive, probably) want to puppet Obito on the throne. It's all about control. (And Naruto, who wants to be Hokage too but is free and upright and has thrown off his shackles, is the hero.)
Kakashi as a foil would build on the body-horror from Danzo's fight. He'd have Madara's Rinnegan, Obito's Mangekyou, other Sharingan in Hashirama's body parts, bits of Zetsu grafted on, cursed seals on his heart and neck and spine, tailed beast parts if available, and whatever else anyone could find. It's the opposite of Rin, medicine used to harm instead of heal. It would be about the failure, and the damage caused by a self-centred saviour. (And Naruto, who was failed but saved others, the selfless helping hand, is the hero.)

Last Goodbye
ANBU!Kakashi X Reader
Synopsis: Loving Kakashi felt like a goodbye you’re almost too scared to utter.
A/N: This is inspired by the song “Goodbye” by Billie Eilish and the fact that the ANBU breaks people down into soldiers.
Naruto Masterlist: Marvelmymarvelmaster
TW: Mentions of suicide (past comments and ideas). Pure angst/NO comfort
Lyrics:
Please, please Don't leave me Be Take me to the rooftop. Told you not to worry What do you want from me? Dont ask questions Wait a minute Don't you know I'm no good for you? Baby, I don't feel so good Bite my tongue, bide my time What is it about them? I'm the bad guy
Kakashi cocked his head as he took in your shaking fingers trying to wrap a deep wound on his side. The mission had gone terribly; if he had been a few seconds earlier, he would have been dead. But that was what being in the ANBU entailed. That was his job and you knew that. But it didn't change the fact that it's been draining you.
It was around his sixth year, and while you had six years to get used to the sight before you, it only seemed to have made you shakier. Because you loved him more now than you did, and that scared you.
“Please,” you sobbed softly, fingers clutching onto the wrap as you urged yourself to stop the words bubbling up from your chest, but there was no stopping them. “Please, Kakashi, I can't keep doing this.”
It felt like the air was knocked out of his lungs. He had been afraid of this happening. He knew it would come but hoped he'd have more time to help you through it. He nodded before placing a soft hand on your violently shaking one. He couldn't lose you. He couldn't. You meant too much to him now. “It will only be a few more years before they’re ready to retire me-”
You shook your head at this, more pleas falling from your lips as you began to panic.
“Don't leave me.” Kakashi snapped out sharply. He tried to sound secure but his voice was shaky as he pulled you into his body. You weren't allowed to leave him. That's not how this worked. He couldn’t make it alone.
He wouldn't be able to live without you.
Kakashi just needed you to be strong; he needed you to just be there for him. Maybe telling you how much he needed you to be with him would help strengthen your quickly crumbling composure. “Just Be-” but he stopped, finally taking in the way you were shaking within his embrace. Was he being selfish? Putting you through this misery with him? His chest stuttered below where your head lay, alerting you that he was panicking alongside you.
“I’m a monster.”
You lifted your head from his chest, eyebrows crinkling at the thick tears cascading down his face, soaking into the mask he used to hide behind. You shook your head at his statement; he was anything but a monster. He tried to stop the sobs coming from his body, fear of losing you taking over every single cell within him. “It's not true,” you whimpered as you lifted your fingers to his mask. You didn't wait for him to answer and pulled the cloth down to free him from the persona he was hiding behind.
It wasn't healthy to do such a thing all of the time.
You sat there for a second, staring at his scrunched-up face as he tried to hide himself from you. Shaking your head, you drug your hands from his neck to cup his cheeks. Kakashi closed his eyes, visions of just going to the rooftop to end it all flashing before his eyes. He remembers telling you once: “Take me to the rooftop” after Obito died... He meant it as a joke, but it scared you half to death.
This scared you half to death.
“Kakashi, it's okay,” you breathed out, forehead pressing with his in the hopes that you could take away those ideas before they planted a suicidal seed in his brain. More sobs bubbled up from his chest, and his cries turned into desperate wails as he gripped your hips like you were some sort of lifeline. Like you were the only thing holding him to sanity. “I keep hurting you,” he cried out. You winced in response. How did this go from you breaking down to him losing who he was once again? It was then you realized.
You couldn't leave him.
“I told you not to worry,” you stated firmly before shifting so you were sitting on his lap. You knew that resting your weight on his body always calmed him down, and in some way, it helped you as well. But he shook his head and shoved you off of him, causing your hands to fly from his face to catch your fall. He inhaled sharply at the action, eyes looking at his hands in shock as if he didn't realize what he had just done. As if he didn't command himself to do such a thing. More regret filled his veins. Did he hurt you?
Kakashi ignited his Sharingan to take in your movements, hoping to see in slow motion any pain or suffering he may have caused you. But he saw nothing. You sighed as you crossed your legs in front of him. “What do you want from me?”
You sounded serious and unbothered by what just happened, but in all reality, you were slightly terrified of what was happening. He’s never been so far in his mind that he didn't realize his own actions. “Kakashi, what do you need from me-”
“Don't ask questions.”
Your mouth shut as if he commanded you to, but it wasn't his words or tone that scared you into submission. It was that he was changing right before your very own eyes. This was no longer the Kakashi you knew.
That Kakashi was dead.
But maybe you could save him again. “Wait a minute-”
“Don't you know I'm no good for you?”
Your eyes dropped sadly to your own hands. He wasn't good for you; of course, you knew that. But you loved him. You loved him more than anything in this world. So why did you feel so goddamn sick all of a sudden being in his presence? “Baby, I don't feel so good.” you cried out softly, afraid of talking too loud and triggering the beast before you. Silence filled the space, the sound of only your cries filling the air.
Kakashi observed you, bite my tongue, bide my time. He repeated those words in his head over and over again as he pushed away the urge to reach out to you. To comfort you. To beg you to stay. You would be free from him forever if he pushed you away instead of saying anything.
Your eyes flicked over to his ANBU mask beside the two of you, that stupid thing. You would burn it if you could. It was all their fault that the Kakashi before you was no longer the Kakashi you loved. The Kakashi you cared for. No… This Kakashi was a machine. A soldier.
A monster.
He watched as you grabbed the mask with a jutted-out lip, trying hard not to scream and throw a tantrum like you deserved to do. “What is it about them?”
His chest felt tight at the question. It wasn't the first time he heard the question, but he hoped it would be the last. A crack sounded out in the room as your grip tightened enough to break the wooden mask slightly.
He didn't stop you as you only squeezed harder. He wanted you to break it. To break him. To free him from this hell he was living in.
“I want to burn this stupid thing, but I fear you are too far gone. And the mask no longer hides the man I love… It is the man I love.”
Now that… That was new. That was what kicked the old Kakashi back into control. He parted his lips to say anything, but you stood swiftly, stopping him from speaking. You didn't look at him, couldn't look at him. You could only look at the mask that ruined him. Ripped him to shreds and left you with nothing to call home.
“Y/n”
You dropped the mask as he whispered your name, “I’m done. Kakashi, I’m afraid you’re too far gone. And while I would stay because I love you… This new you doesn't love me… And I deserve to be loved.”
What was this pain he was feeling? It felt like he couldn't breathe, as if his lungs were on fire. His body felt like lead as he watched you step over his gear and head toward his apartment door. “Please… Please, Y/n dont… Don't leave me.”
You turned away from him as you gripped the door handle for support. This had to be the first and final goodbye to him and this lifestyle. Six years of this. Six years of sleepless nights and near-death experiences. Six years of terrifying nightmares that left him shaking and sobbing in your arms. Six years of slowly watching the life drain from his eyes. Six years.
And you couldn't hold on for a couple more.
“I love you, Kakashi, but I can't do this anymore” Your voice sounded steadier than you felt. While Kakashi felt like he was the only one heartbroken, he failed to realize you felt the same. You loved him. You loved him so much that it made you sick.
“I have to go… I love you.”
Before he could interject or plead with you, the door had closed behind you. Leaving him alone in his dark room. The shadows seemed to slink towards him as he shakily watched the door, hoping and praying you would come back. Tell him it was a cruel joke and you would never leave him.
But it never happened. He broke his steely gaze with the door and looked at his shaking palms. “Oh, gods… What have I done.” His tears once more blurred his vision as he felt your absence  in full. He should have left the ANBU sooner and done it at the first sign of losing who he was.
On the other side of the door, you had not left yet and instead sat with your back against the wood. Heart-shattering at the sound of his sobs hitting your ears. You just wanted to soothe and reassure him that you loved him. But doing those things brought you to where you are now. Still, you couldn't help but feel like a terrible human being for leaving the man you loved the most.
“I'm the bad guy.”
Your whisper was shaky as you stood from your spot on the floor. Maybe giving him space will help him. Perhaps you two would get ice cream tomorrow and have a fun date. Maybe’s… They were always “Maybe’s” with him. Shaking your head, you took off towards your apartment across town.
Kakashi curled onto his side, clinging the pillow to his chest as he tried to imagine it was you. He needed you, and he sometimes hated it. Maybe this was good for him… Maybe if he left the ANBU and returned to being who he was… Maybe, just maybe, you’d come back to him. You weren't gone forever, no… He was going to change for you.
He was going to make sure this wasn't your last goodbye.

i feel like kakashi was haunted by haku’s death. i’m pretty sure he lost sleep the days, weeks, months after the incident because there’s no way haku’s death didn’t remind him of rin’s.
they both died at a similar age (rin 13-14, haku 15). they both chose to die to protect the people they cared for. they both decided to die by jumping straight into kakashi’s lightening blade. you can argue that both kids had no regret with their decision.
i can totally picture kakashi visiting the memorial stone after the land of waves mission, profusely apologizing to rin, to obito. maybe even apologizing to minato because he couldn’t uphold his symbol of peace, blaming himself for (accidentally) killing another child. another child among many who was exploited and a fallen victim to a corrupt nation.
i just think that kakashi’s mind must have been so loud and noisy with unwanted thoughts. had he still been in anbu, he would’ve gone on those crazy suicidal missions to drown out the noise.
i wish shittymoto would give us a kakashi spin off that focuses on kakashi, not just some filler episodes. he’s such a complex yet simple character that so many of us relate to him.

my personal preference on the team minato age thing:
Tumblr media
Personally, I like drawing Kakashi being 4 years younger than Obito and Rin, partially because the idea of a 10 year old Obito being absolutely desperate to show up this know it all 6 year old is just like. really, really funny + compelling to me (the embarassment of being much less skilled than a kid whose barely more than half ur age??? LMFAO. BRUTAL TO THE EGO!)
and also it's a neat parallel with Gai, whose genin team was Genma (3-4 years older than Gai) and Ebisu (1-2 years older than Gai). I feel like it emphasizes the kind of brutal war machine that Konoha is at that time—that they'd consider a 5 year old (or in Gai's case, a 7 year old) to be viable soldiers, especially during this war where they're apparently spread incredibly thin and theyve got to cobble the teams together
i also like…hm…idk
i think that there's potential for like a really impactful moment where minato tells obito abt sakumo
Tumblr media
and suddenly obito realizes that kakashi, at the insane age of 5, had decided he would never let anyone get close, and instead of seeing kakashi as this arrogant rule obsessed prodigy asshole, obito realizes that kakashi is not only a scared kid just like him, maybe even moreso, but like terrifyingly vulnerable.
Kakashi is like 8 and has nobody watching out for him except maybe Minato, meanwhile Obito who comes from the huge and tightly knit uchiha clan is like. constantly caring for and being taken care of by other people—i'm sure that he tried to imagine himself in Kakashi's place when Minato told him abt this.
i think it could be a really interesting moment where obito stops seeing himself in relation to kakashi as like, subordinate (tho kakashi still has rank on him) or like, a struggling teammate being bullied by a hardass child prodigy— and instead. for just a moment. maybe he sees himself as like an older sibling/cousin/member of the clan who has a duty to take care of kakashi, in a way that kakashi cannot take care of himself i especially think that him having that feeling right before he ''dies'' and as a final gesture gives kakashi his eye…that could be really fucking touching. like. the sharingan is like THE identifying feature of the Uchiha right, and after that the Uchiha that we do see Kakashi interact with, Itachi and Sasuke, both see the sharingan, and have a strong reaction to it, wanting to kinda size kakashi up and see if they accept him, bc they understandably see the sharingan as something belonging to their family.
this said, the choice to give it to Kakashi, could be read as Obito giving him a gift of not just of a very special jutsu, but also like, in a way, a belonging? Maybe extended with the intent to like, tell Kakashi that he's like family?
LIKE. idk how to explain it.
Theres also something abt his imitation of obito afterwards…not only adopting his philosophy but his mannerisms…and the way that this gift from obito is foundational to the person who Kakashi becomes (his special chidori is only rlly functional optimally with the sharingan—his whole nickname "copycat kakashi" is bc of the sharingans ability to remember jutsu)
like. i just think that an older brother type of figure reading of obito could have been really compelling if kishimoto leaned into it
but he didn't! not in any way that mattered anyway. so my reading remains my singular interpretation

Are you also someone with the “Obito annoys me but I can’t explain it” problem?? Cuz I don’t know why, but there’s something about him that just… >:|||| for me.
I can more or less explain... It's enough reason for me, but maybe it's too small for others, but like...
He was basically the main villain of the series? Right?? Everything happens because of him! Manipulated by Madara-Zetsu-Kaguya but still him. He controlled the Akatsuki, he killed Naruto's parents, he caused Sasuke's traumas, he started the war, he tried to put the whole world to sleep and live fake dreams... and for what??
Because the girl he liked died! In a war!! The same that also killed him!!!
Really???
After being compared so many times to Naruto, who never gives up, Naruto who believes in his dreams, Naruto who had nothing and still gave his all.... He just... talks to the good guys for five minutes and changes his mind??? GOD!!

The Akatsuki: Monsters of Naruto-Verse
It’s interesting to note that all the Akatsuki were designed to appear like monsters: each has some sort of mutilation, dis-figuration, mutation, physical traits that set him apart from the rest. That makes them monsters of that world, creatures cast out from the public’s domain. The others. Is it that simple? Maybe not.
Nagato? He’s got rods embedded into his back, a ghastly aftermath of a power he couldn’t control effectively; and, as a result of that, he’s physically emaciated, skin and bones; and the paths that do his bidding are dead bodies that he governs remotely, grants them temporary life to fight for his cause. Konan? She physically transforms into paper, so she’s got less of a physical appearance, a tangible body like others. They, as a pair, represent the simplicity of a Kami-complex, which makes sense: it was that lack of power that rent asunder their lives; so if they themselves hold supreme power, that would even out the odds, put them back on the map as rulers of their own destinies. And it’s through Pain/Deva that the monstrous statue, the frozen God (Gedō Mazō), is introduced, a world-changing monster in chains, one whose reins are to be transported to Sasuke’s hands.
Kakuzu and Hidan are a pair of immortals. The former looks like a monster as he steals the hearts and stitches them into his masks in a bid to extend his own life. He’s also very greedy. To present a contrast to his material greed, Hidan presents spiritual greed. Where Kakuzu steals the heart, Hidan steals the life, very literally, and takes it for himself. He, too, transforms, albeit only during the ritual. A religious craze that overtakes him. If Kakuzu is stitched together, then Hidan can be stitched together from pieces of himself.
Deidara and Sasori are two sides of artistic sensibilities: Deidara is an artistic calamity, and in destruction and deconstruction does he see art (his “art is a blast!” mantra is taken very literally by him), which is why his hands are mutilated, objects that create art are imperfect. Sasori sees art in permanence through perfection, which is why he created a puppet of himself. To him, beauty and youth are art! Where only Deidara’s hands are mutilated, from which he spits out chakra-molded clay to create shapes for destruction, Sasori mutilated himself to create the perfect shape, and he does that to others, too. So this pair is about the permanence and impermanence of what they feel “art against the world” ought to be. These two, along with Kazuku and Hidan, exist as extensions of Akatsuki, men kept in the dark, which is why they never knew Obito’s true face nor of his plans for the world. They only knew what Nagato told them. That makes them expendable soldiers, something which Nagato said, as well.
Kisame and Itachi, believe it or not, represent the monsters in a literal and metaphorical sense. In that, one who looks monstrous has a conscience (he defected from Kiri because of their brutal military methods that forced him to kill his own brethren for a mission; he’s very much like Sakumo; but where Sakumo buckled under pressure and took his own life, Kisame fled after punishing the man who ordered him to kill his comrades; he chose to end his life rather than rat out his remaining comrades, hoping that they’d find their mark, even after he’s gone). In that, his outward appearance is monstrously different from that of a human. For instance, if you look at Kazuku, you can tell that that’s a human being, a severely mutilated and pieced together one (in a very visual and literal way), but a human being nonetheless. You can’t say that about Kisame as he’s not mutilated, he transformed entirely into a creature whose only human quality is that he’s bipedal, I suppose; and once he merges with Samehada, even that’s thrown away. In that state, he assumes a completely inhuman appearance, but its effect is in appearance only.
Contrast that with Itachi, and tell me: what do you think he is? He’s metaphorically a monster. As in, he doesn’t look like a monster, but he’s very much a cruel and wanton young man who, unlike Kisame, has no conscience; and where Kisame defected for his people; Itachi defected against his people. This pair, then, is about the absence and presence of conscience and the antithetical appearance it illustrates. What does that have to do with Sasuke? Well, Kisame fights for Obito and his cause; hence, Sasuke is the one he fights for at Obito’s command; and Itachi joined Akatsuki as a bargain to Leaf’s echelon that they’d keep his sibling safe.
Then we’ve got Orochimaru and Kabuto (to an extent). Orochimaru is vain and, like Sasori, has an obsession for permanence and youth (reasons why he sought out Sasuke with a single-minded obsession, because Sasuke was to be his last and permanent vessel; the perfect mold); however, where Sasori’s concerned with beauty for the sake of it, artistic aestheticism, Orochimaru wants it because a robust vessel allows him to transcend human boundaries. He, too, has transformed, inflicted upon himself many a experiment to transform himself into a white serpent, literally, and is like a parasite that eats the hosts from the inside, becomes it after a while.
Basically, every host is like a skin he wears, and when the time comes, he casts it off and searches for a new one. Very much like a snake. (The best way to determine a snake’s age is to see how often it sheds the skin; if it sheds it too often, it’s young; if the frequency is less; it’s old; through Sasuke, Kishimoto inverted this process, as in, he’d never have to shed skin ever again as the skin would allow him the permanence he always wished for; Sasuke, basically, would allow him to bypass nature altogether.) Sasuke was going to be the body, a home that his snake would inhabit for all time: he knew about Sasuke’s ability to awaken the Rinnegan and his powerful chakra that’s got no equal. Both of which would’ve throttled the corrosive nature of his snake, which exudes poisonous vapours and destroys the body over time, allowing him to live symbiotically with Sasuke’s body at the cost of his psyche. Why else do you think Sasuke was able to not only withstand the Cursed Seal State 2’s psyche- and chakra-corroding effects but also keep Orochimaru suppressed without a hitch at the same time, and without a helping hand from any seal as it’s the case with the Jinchūrikis? The reason is that Orochimaru’s chakra is so absurdly weak compared to his own that it didn’t matter one bit that he’d absorbed the mad man and scientist willingly into himself. (Remember, Sasuke’s natural chakra is far thicker and more potent than Senjutsu chakra; a fact Karin mentioned very explicitly during his battle with Danzō.) And you do know that the ritual did take place, right? It’s just that Sasuke took over that world and kept Orochimaru on a leash; and as an aside, and as I keep saying over and over again, that’s the sort of feat that’s unheard of in the manga; therefore, Orochimaru is a monster of ambition and Kabuto, his extension, in a way. And Sasuke is that ambition, a true personification of it.
That just leaves Obito and Zetsu (black and white): they represent the idea of a remnant. Obito is the remnant of wars, which is why half of him is permanently disfigured, ruinously patched up by the Senju vestige, Hashirama’s power. The other half is an Uchiha, one with power towards which he’s guided by Black Zetsu; hence, the black half of Zetsu represents the will for power; and the white half, a will for stagnation as, keep that in mind, white Zetsu controls the other Zetsus who’re just transformed people trapped by Infinite Tsukuyomi (IT). Basically, they’re Yin and Yang in a very literal sense: Black one carries on the Will, and White one illustrates the effects of that Will (Kaguya’s, albeit Madara thought it to be his own); former represents a dream and the struggle towards that dream, and the latter the aftereffects of the dream. Cause and effect, basically. And none highlights this more than its human counterpart, Obito. That’s why he wears a spiral mask (I can’t believe people didn’t realize that this guy had Kamui before it was revealed when his mask is shaped exactly like the spiraling distortion in space/time) and has multiple personae. Each offering a different will, a different dimension of Akatsuki and of himself.
Does it all fit in with the term Akatsuki, which means dawn and/or daybreak? Well, yes, it does. All of them, each in their own way, dream of a new world. A world that’d break away from the chains, ruin itself, and begin anew. All but Itachi. Isn’t it strange that, the one character that exists for the old world is the only one that doesn’t look monstrous? The only one who represents the trick? The illusion of the good old days? It’s no wonder his ability is Tsukuyomi, the ultimate illusion as he’s the youth who’s in illusions of the old world himself. A misfit in Akatsuki. The only one who’s an irony, one who doesn’t look...off. (Learn to connect the dots, folks; it isn’t that hard.) Doesn’t that make you curious, even a little? And interestingly enough, the Uchiha Symbol, which only Sasuke wears (Obito doesn’t, either, though he does don the Uchiha high-collared shirt, albeit Itachi discarded that even; his shirt’s design is completely different from the ones Uchiha wear), has the rising sun (and the waning half-moon) as its symbol? And as Sasuke is Obito’s goal and that of Nagato’s, he’s the personification of the term Akatsuki itself: a revolution towards a new age!
Now you know why Kishimoto laments the ending as all the ingredients are there, all the players true to their cause; it’s just the final act that’s missing. And what a shame that is?
