First off, PLEASE always talk about LOK with venomous cuntery but the thing that always makes me giggle abt the Bolin, Mako and Korra dynamic is that Mako exists to be the broody bad boy and as such- came with a broody bad boy sob story. His parents died, he became homeless for a while, had to go into pro-bending to make money. But all of his brooding, angst and stoic attitude is COMPLETELY undercut because Bolin is standing RIGHT THERE absolutely unaffected despite going through the exact same thing- showing what a cheap gimmicky writing effect the backstory actually is.

LMFAO YES thank you it’s so stupid like they literally had all that happen to him purely for dramatic effect without actually exploring what that means or implies for his and bolin’s psyches, or even remotely attempting to explore and expose the systemic issues that enabled their suffering. although it’s genuinely crazy that bolin is as dumb and naive as he is considering that he’s only like a year or two younger than mako. i get that mako was looking out for him but it’s crazy that we’re expected to believe that mako is some kind of cynical mother hen, meanwhile bolin cannot fend for himself whatsoever and his brain is the size of a pea. genuinely nonsensical. also i find it kind of funny that mako gets the batman backstory of seeing his parents murdered in front of him (probably in an alley) as a child, whereas asami gets the huge mansion billionaire heiress tech-savvy loner who drives a cool car and has a sassy gay butler and fights crime with gadgets part of batman’s character (and she’s also an orphan whose parents were murdered in front of her btw). so republic city is not only shanghai, hong kong, singapore, new york, and detroit (see: hiroshi as henry ford), but also gotham. very cool writing, not at all shallow or cluttered in any way.

So, after season one, Nancy and Steve don't get back together for like a month, right? Okay, what if they reconciled by Steve approaching her and telling her that he wanted to give her space, that he didn't want to push her, but he wanted to make sure she was alright after Barb. He told her how he wished he had gotten to know her, and if she was up for it, then maybe she could tell him about Barb. I have a hard time believing that no one acknowledged Nancy and her grief for Barb. (I mean, did Hopper even think to check on her?) To me, I think that this would explain why she was holding on to Steve for so long even though she had feelings for someone else. In her darkest moment, Steve was so sweet to her. Jonathan was busy with his own family, and that's understandable, but you're telling me that he couldn't pick up the phone? I think it's also why Steve went to the dinners because he did feel guilty, and he did feel guilty about not getting to know Barb. I think if she and Jonathan hadn't gotten together in that moment, then she would have found her way to actually talk to Steve about Barb to get closure. It's one of the things that annoys me about Jancy. That and the photographs. I wish they had written Jonathan better. Anyway, I just wonder how they reconciled after that month, and I think this is it.

2001 Alucard is very resigned and stoic when he is faced with disappointment, basically empties himself of all that emotion he just built up a minute ago in his excitement to fight with a worthy adversary.

-while Ultimate Alucard's expression of disappointment is loud, overwhelming rage- hurling insults at his opponent for not meeting his expectations, with an extra touch of sadism to balance it all out.

2001 Alucard is so void of his initial emotions that he freely lets Luke fruitlessly shoot him however many times, as if not even registering the act as he brings his hound out to devour him.

Ultimate Alucard ain't taking any of Luke's back sass after he DARED to bring his hopes up, quickly shutting up his rambling, nervous insults with a resounding "SILENCE!" before siccing his hounds on him
