DON'T LEAVE HOT ASH IN YOUR HOUSE!!!

Okay. So. Story time about 15 minutes ago the carbon monoxide alarm went off right above my head. That's right. The thing that tells you that the air you are breathing is trying to kill you (still haven't processed it yet so bare with) and apparently hot ash gives off carbon monoxide. That's dangerous. Very dangerous. I didn't know this. Nobody in my house knew this. I had just cleared the fireplace and started a new fire like 6 hours ago. And this entire time its been slowly burning without combustion properly and has been eating up all the oxygen in the very cold English house (which we've just had to open all of the windows to).

We have a child and two cats living here. It's midnight. I was about to go to bed. If that alarm didn't go off, none of us would have woken up.

So please.

Do. Not. Have. Hot. Ash. In. The. House.

Fic Rec (Drarry): Open Fire by @Slytherco

This is another amazing fic from @hd-wireless fest that just concluded. There are so many great fics and art this year. Honestly, can't go wrong in closing your eyes and just clicking on a link in the masterlist.

However, I want to promote this fic because it's a rare one. It's WAR! and it's 10 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. Blood Purists are still trying to gain control and now it's spread internationally. But this fic takes place in a camp where Harry is leading a resistance pack. He's older, he's wiser, and literally takes no prisoners...okay maybe just one. And he and the pack live under the motto that hesitation will get you killed. Not giving anything away as it's in the summary, but Draco is a double-spy and he's glorious in his own right.

The fic is violent and there's quite a bit of gore, but this is war. @slytherco 's writing is so crisp and action packed. Descriptions are to the point and not overly done. Tension weaves its way throughout every chapter, even the milder ones. And it ramps up when called for. Despite Harry being a MFBA, he's still Harry. Stubborn, yet humble enough to say he's sorry when he's wrong. Feeling that he has to be perfect and have no distractions, but yet they can be his downfall.

The sex scenes are fire! And the first one, I promise you, it will be one you'll always remember.

And for icing on this cake, Hermione is a badass werewolf but still so much Hermione. And Ron, loyal to Harry and the cause, has become mute and lost his magic but he has his 'Muriel' in case anyone thinks he's defenseless.

I haven't said much about Draco, but I'll leave him for you to discover along with Harry. However, here's a little tease with this gem of a line (btw there are so many): “Draco thought he’d had some good sex in his life but as it turns out, it all must’ve been shite because this—this is how it feels to be wanted,”

Yep, This is me. I made a mask and set fire to the garage.

The temperature in the room rose sharply. It was even hotter around me. After a while I felt a burning warmth on me, which intensified from moment to moment.

I could hear the sound of fire in my ears.

I would have stayed there longer. But I didn't want to start a fire.

There were other people in the house.
