Did Not Age Well
Society has changed since I was a child. Most of the changes are positive, such as making great strides toward reducing racism and sexism. However, there have been setbacks, and two examples are grunge music and the Tide Pod challenge. What were people thinking? What are they still thinking?
These changes surrounded me, and I adapted to what was new. Bell-bottom jeans? I was lucky to have parents who did not buy them for me. However, I took a deep dive into 80s music, which still makes up 90% of my playlist. RUSH RULES!!!!! Alright, truth. I did wear corduroy pants, OP shirts, Jordache Jeans, and a salmon pink shirt. Stylin’
Unfortunately, there is a problem with books and movies. They stand as anchors to how society used to be because writers wrote them at a single point in time. For example, a risqué funny scene that is now considered sexist. Therefore, we look down on “outdated” works.
Nobody can predict what society will find offensive in the future. Plus, writers run a fine line when adding “shock value.” Often, controversial additions were barely acceptable when the work was released. However, we also appreciate that it is difficult to create something popular and, more importantly, make money.
An excellent example of a material that did not age well is the now-banned eleven Looney Tunes (Bugs Bunny) cartoons of the ‘40s and ‘50s. (They are still available on YouTube and on one DVD release, so they are not “banned.”) These cartoons had racial stereotypes that we now consider offensive, and by the ‘70s, the cartoons were no longer on television and were not available to anyone. At that time, consumers couldn’t purchase any television show or movie. Eventually, these cartoons got re-released on videotape and DVD with a strong disclaimer.
Well? What do we do? Ban these works? Edit them? Add a disclaimer? Start a WOKE campaign to “remove these dregs from society?” These solutions have been implemented and continue to be implemented.     A good example of a recently edited book (by the publisher) is the works by celebrated children’s author Roald Dahl’s books. (James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The BFG, The Twits, George’s Marvellous Medicine, and Danny, the Champion of the World.) The publisher’s goal was to remove “offensive descriptions.” However, there was an unexpected pushback from parents and bookstores. This has created quite a controversy on both sides of the issue, and several bookstores are refusing to carry the altered versions.
youtube
Well, what is an author supposed to do? Not write offensive works? Not take risks? Only write in the “safe past?” Umm? Do your best to be a good author… That is the best advice I have.
What about a concerned/conservative parent or a sensitive adult who dislikes filth in our society? My opinion is that the world has changed and is not going back. Trying to rewind the clock makes the problem worse. Preparing our children to stop reading or viewing when they encounter offensive material.
What about something public, such as the statue of a brutal historical figure? Umm… Fortunately, this blog is about books; I do not have to address that topic.
I try to write respectively, and this limits what areas I can explore. Of course, my morals also define my entertainment choices. Life is full of compromises, and we (my blog readers) can only do our best.
    You’re the best! -Bill

I was told to write my WIP. Here, take my just over a thousand words thingy. (Part One) @lucifer-is-a-bag-of-dicks (here's the first part of context for the OP marvel crossover thingy)
____
Danny is in the hallways when he gets stopped by the ever familiar pull on his senses. Not the kind of “there’s a ghost nearby” pull, but rather in a “someone’s summoning a ghost and it’s you” pull.
That’s one of the issues with being half-ghost. He could literally be summoned by any halfwit smart enough to somehow find an actual ghost-summoning circle-spell-whatever. He was lucky enough that it only happened twice before.
The good thing was that he had enough time to grab Tucker, who had conveniently been walking with him to their next class, duck out of the hallways, and whisper, “Cover me-” before disappearing.
Distantly, Danny felt kinda bad for Tucker, but he was a bit more busy with being spat out in ghost form on someone’s floor.
Being summoned sucked. Especially when he, Danny, was being Danny Fenton rather than being Danny Phantom, because something forced him to change into ghost form, and that always added to the general disorientation that came from being in one place to nowhere to somewhere.
As soon as the world stopped flashing and he could steady himself, he noticed the room first and the circle second. It was well-lit with warm lights set on the walls near the ceiling, most of it being wood a bit close together. There were glass displays that seemed to have weird artifacts like old papers and swords, and a stairway that led down. There was also a huge window that looked a lot like the inside of a clock.
The energy swirling in the place reminded him very vividly of Clockwork. Although he knew that Clockwork didn’t summon people so much as ominously pop up randomly to bother them during battle or school or while walking down the road. Or-
Danny was then reminded that this was NOT Clockwork’s place, and that someone (probably another dumb group of teenagers) had summoned him. There were even candles and a circle and-
Oh.
Danny was stuck. People normally didn’t know that summoning circles didn’t also trap ghosts. And they also normally weren’t adults who looked like weird monks. The two adults (which, what? What were adults doing summoning ghosts? They weren’t even from Amity Park-) were barely paying any attention, either, which he found really rude. And kind of stupid. Who summons a ghost and then doesn't even pay attention?
The first man had no hair, and was wearing… gold robes. He was also in the middle of arguing with the man with a goatee, with a red cape. “-telling you, Pariah is not some passerby you can just- summon! He’s the-” Pariah? Pariah Dark? The Ghost King that decided Amity Park needed to be in the Ghost Zone before invading? What did these weirdos want with him?
It took him a moment to realize Mr. Bald had stopped talking. Damn. Goatee, on the other hand, took that moment to start.
“I know he’s dangerous, but we’re going to need allies. Is he h-” Goatee said as he turned. Then he caught sight of Danny and also stopped dead. Now both of them were gaping at him.
Danny frowned, drifting up in the air. “Oh, by all accounts, don’t let me stop you. Please, continue.”
The two men looked at each other, wide-eyed and gesturing at him. Ah, silent conversations. Never fun to be left out. He sighed, floating closer to the boundaries and raising his fist to knock on it. It was like a glass wall just popped into existence around him, bolts of what looked like green electricity bouncing away from where he hit it before dispersing. Weird.
“Where is Pariah, ghost?” Goatee asked, standing with Mr. Bald. He was… tall. Both of them were, actually. Danny looked up for a moment before leaning backwards, as though thinking, and shrugged.
He sucked in air through his teeth, before reorienting himself to look at them. “Let’s say he’s in timeout for now.” And that... wasn’t a lie, Danny just left out that the old dictator was stuck in a sarcophogus of ‘never wake up again’. “And… wow, you really must’ve messed up the circle if you got me instead. What makes you think you can actually summon Pariah anyways?”
And now they looked offended and incredulous. “We don’t have time for games, ghost. Who are you?” The one with the Goatee glared, looking as though he was winding up to do something. “We know the circle works, which means that you-” he grunted. Mr. Bald removed his elbow from Goatee’s side, still silently staring.
What is it with people these days? Danny thought, blatantly staring back. “It’s Phantom. Listen, I could humor you all day but I have places to go, fights to fight, stuff like that. So…”
“I think it’d be better if you could explain more, Phantom.” Mr. Bald stated, his arm moving slowly under his robes. Probably to grab something, like a weapon. He did not like that idea. Danny turned away, flicked the barrier again, and looked at the two summoners.
“I think it’d be better if I could leave.” He stressed, eyes narrowing. He hated being caught, hated being forced into somewhere and not being able to leave. It made his very being rebel against the thought, almost- he wasn’t meant to be stuck in a small space.
Ghost barriers worked well on ghosts, though. Danny was not a pure ghost. He was alive and not at the same time, able to switch between the two states almost easily. Things that only affected a ghost or human… well, he could work around them. Sometimes. It hurt his core to use his more human aspects against things that warned off ghosts when he was Phantom, but he could do it.
He grabbed the barrier, straining against whatever kept it there. It wasn't like his parent's inventions at all; there wasn't any device that kept it there. The summoners obviously were well-equipped, but he could be fast- he could hear the mad scramble behind him. His core started to ache, and it felt as though he was benchpressing a bridge- but he kept his grip on the barrier, and when the first crack appeared he squeezed through it.
It felt like time had slowed when he made it out of the barrier. He was half-way across the room about to turn intangible, invisible, the whole nine-yards- and then he stopped. Yet again he was very, very vividly reminded of Clockwork.
“Wong, quick, we need to make a stronger barrier-” Danny couldn’t move. Not yet, it was like he was unfreezing each of his limbs and he was taking too much time- “Did you know ghosts could do that? Was he-?”
“That was one of the stronger barriers against I do not know, Strange, but this does not bode well-”
He felt someone grab him, and that was all it took. He could also feel how they startled when he could finally twist out of the way and through the wall- which felt almost exactly like the barrier but- different, because he could pass through it much easier. Danny didn’t hesitate to book it out of there.

About the OP-Danny/Avengers au fic, hypothetically, i think it would be hilarious if the entire plot of the movie gets derailed because some of the ghosts realise Danny's not been around Amity so they go out to look for him right? But the Tessarect exists and is basically a box with the space stone inside right? and Boxy exists too, So he somehow gets his mitts on that and it's just the Pandora's box episode all over again except Loki and the Avengers are now added to that chaos.
oh my god
okay this is my favourite everyone else go home, this au has officially reached peak potential

Okay so you have crossover aus (Marvel or DC) with danny phantom and everything
Well last night I was trying to find a post that talked about how Danny is his worlds first and last defender (there are others but they arent on the same level as Danny)
Then my tired brain kept thinking of the GIW and how in fandom (could be canon but idk) the ecto bill passes basically being anything that produces ectoplasm is non-human/sentiant
So I was like wondering how other heros would react
So how do you think other heros (you pick which one(s) to do) would react
(I mean Marvel has many comics talking about superpowers and things)
Have a great day and thanks for answering this ask!!!
ooooh okay so this is interesting because I'm different comic book universes have different laws varying between animated series, movie series and the actual comics themselves
I'm not inherently familiar with comics so I'll have to work primarily from movie-verse rules and maybe some animated series stuff
so my first thought about this was actually the X-Men, who would be not even remotely surprised by laws like that being passed since they've pretty much experienced the exact same kind of discrimination, they'd be too jaded to be horrified but they would definitely be hugely understanding and sympathetic
some may even give him some advice on how to fight the laws based on their own experiences
within the Justice League universe metahumans don't seem to face legal issues (I'm basing this entirely on the 90s Batman cartoon because I just finished watching it) the villains from that series who had some kind of meta ability weren't treated all that differently under the law than non-metas, there was an indication that there was social discrimination but like, nobody was hunting down and capturing meta humans unless they were criminals
so within that universe they would probably be pretty upset to hear about laws being passed that allowed that kind of discrimination
though I'm pretty sure other variations of the DC universe have very different rules and experiences, I wouldn't be surprised if there's been a whole thing about Superman being an illegal alien and having the government get all funny about it, so heroes like Superman and Martian Manhunter at least probably wouldn't be all that surprised about laws against 'non-humans'
the MCU would be interesting, they have organisations like Shield to contact any known meta-humans, and they generally prefer to work with them or keep them out of trouble/the public eye, unless they're using their abilities for crimes
but that universe also has experiences with foreign creatures coming through portals and fucking shit up, so a law being passed that allows people to hunt creatures like that wouldn't be surprising to them and, in fact, they may even defend it
they would likely be very upset about the idea of blatantly attacking willing allies tho, like yeah creatures who come through and attack people are fair game but if one shows up wanting to help? trying to capture and harm them wouldn't just be morally wrong, it would be strategically stupid
so overall, I think the general consensus would be that nobody is surprised about humans being discriminatory and attacking things they don't understand
they would all feel bad for this poor kid who's caught in the middle of it all, most of them would be horrified by the brutality of the laws (allowing needless violence and medical torture) and all of them would be pretty disgusted that these people are actively targeting a child

Ah, but consider: Loki sees how powerful Danny is, and spends a few days constructing a several pages long, VERY specific order that will have Danny severing Loki’s servitude to Thanos. Danny breaks free, but does it anyways because he’s a good boy.
I can really picture this moment right, where Danny had almost worked around an order again and nearly collapsed a roof on Loki
and Loki has reasserted control, dusted himself off, taken a deep breath and through gritted teeth says-
"I understand your anger, I understand your frustration, but keep this in mind. You are not the only one in this room bound to another's will."
like imagine imagine what is happening here, internally
Loki is stuck under the toe of Thanos
Loki, a god of chaos who loathes to be held down, forced to do the bidding of another, it would be utter agony
but he's given a sceptre, one that can bind others to his will, it makes him feel less helpless when he has others under his heel, he will desperately cling to the illusion of control that it gives him
until one of his minions decides not to play ball
suddenly he doesn't feel in control, seeing a powerful being fighting so so desperately to maintain a semblance of self, while being crushed beneath another's will, it doesn't fill Loki with a sense of glee or joy, it's a hideous reminder of the position that he is in, it's a bucket of cold water on this warm comforting illusion of control he's wrapped himself in
and that connection is why he has that moment of vulnerability, that moment where he opens up just a little because he does empathise, truly he does, and it is not an easy thing for Loki to do, it's likely even the first time he has empathised with anyone in a long long time
and Danny, stuck in place, his mind constantly treading water to stay present and alert, suddenly he gets it, he gets that there's a lot more going on behind everything, that Loki is only a pawn just like him, and the rage and fury building within him ebbs slightly as he realises that
and Loki, of course noticing the change in demeanour, noticing the sudden retraction of that fearful cold energy that had previously been rolling off him in waves, he approaches Danny, cautiously, and puts a hand on his shoulder, and whispers in his ear
"If my intuition hasn't failed me, I believe there is far more to your power than you have revealed to me, and that power could be my key out of this mess, if you want to be free of me, I must be free of them."
and thus the scheming begins

OP!Danny x Marvel anon: Oh fuuun! Okay but what if instead of Danny coming out of nowhere (bc where would Loki even FIND him if he's stuck to one town?) the original idea did happen where Fury brought him in like "dw about him he's here to watch YOUR backs", and he does--Danny's proving himself, that these adults don't need to worry bc he can handle it--he's been playing hero far longer than them and he's good at it. he's got them--until he DOESN'T bc Loki's got HIM.
ah god it's been too long since I watched the original avengers I'm struggling here, but mind control as a concept is fascinating, especially the way the sceptre does it, so I'm gonna go into that
but to start, Shield are already buying Fenton weaponry way before the events of the movie, so while in town Nick Fury tracks down Phantom for a chat to have him on standby in case of emergencies and they need him
or what could be MORE interesting, is he happened to call Danny in to check out the tesseract to see if it might have any connection to the ghost zone, just to like, tick some boxes kinda thing, a lot of magic artefacts come out of the ghost zone
I'm trying to remember the beginning of the movie and also Shield's knowledge and history with the tesseract but honestly I'm drawing a blank so I'm only hoping this makes sense, anyone else can feel free to correct me if I've made a continuity error somewhere
anyway, he happens to be there at the time that Loki shows up, but he's in human form, he also has no idea what's happening, but Loki's a frost giant, and Danny has an ice core, so I'm wondering if he like, feels a weird connection and is like, hey hold up lemme talk to this guy and see what's going on
sooo yeah he's talking with Loki who seems to be willing to communicate reasonably (silver tongue and all that he is a trickster), lowering Danny's guard, he gets too close and Loki just goes right in with the sceptre
but at this point, Loki has no idea who Danny is, he's there and he's convenient, he's just a kid, which makes him a great hostage, Loki does notice that they like, vibe on some level too but is kinda too busy dealing with the current situation to think about it too closely
it gets very interesting when Loki commands Danny to shield him, thinking 'stand in front of me because nobody will risk shooting a kid', and instead he gets a bright glowing green shield, and that certainly peaks his attention
he would know something is a little off though because when he controls everyone else they still sort of act normal, like they aren't mindlessly bent to his will they retain their personality and behaviour, their loyalties have just been skewed
but Danny isn't exactly like that, he follows orders quietly and to the letter, and then stands like a statue when he's done, he stares at Loki, with this awful stony expression, like he knows this is wrong, he knows Loki is controlling him and he's obeying with extreme resistance
compare this to Clint, who can still plan and think and be creative, he'll follow orders but he can adapt to a situation using his own knowledge and experience, he's not bound by direct and exact orders, he can follow them with his natural flexibility and intuition
Danny can't, or more so he won't, because unlike the others who don't consciously realise they're being controlled, Danny has experience with this bullshit and he knows full well what's going on, and his natural behaviour in this situation would be defiance
Loki has to keep his control over Danny incredibly direct and very tight, otherwise Danny can loophole a way out of an order, Loki forces Danny to show him what he's capable of and Danny nearly knocks Loki's head off with an ecto-blast
which means as powerful an asset as Danny is, Loki has to be very very careful about letting him out of his sight, Danny can't be a remote agent like Clint, he has to be a body guard, close by so Loki can make sure he's not finagling out of a command, fortunately Loki is good with words and excellent at manipulation so he gets quite good at tailoring his orders to be as specific as possible and to cover any alternative interpretations that Danny may use
the more powers Loki discovers that Danny has, the more nervous he gets about asking Danny to use them, because if he isn't extremely careful Danny will take any opportunity given to use them on Loki, he has to give a lot of blanket orders about never using his powers to hurt Loki directly, to never use them to cause their surroundings to hurt Loki, and to never use them in such a way as to knowingly cause harm to Loki
he has to give his orders with specifics like this every fucking time, ordering Danny around is like writing an extensive and highly detailed contract

Ooh are we back on the op!Danny stuff? bc ive been meaning to ask for a while if u could expand on that op!Danny/1st Avengers movie idea. Danny being involved in those events has the potential to be everything everyone fears if Danny gets controlled by Loki. how do u think the Avengers movie would go if it included Danny with that happening to him? (And also plz imagine Loki bragging about how he's a god and the growing dread as he realizes EXACTLY how powerful his new puppet is...)
this has got Freakshow vibes let's roll
I think it would be utterly hilarious for Loki's ego to be knocked down a few pegs by some earth kid who's like fifty times more powerful than he is
but there's a couple of interesting points that immediately come to mind
1. To knock someone out of Loki's control completely, someone has to give him a solid wallop to the head, that is absolutely never gonna happen, Danny has to break the hold entirely on his own
2. Danny has experience in being controlled, he also has experience in fighting that control, imagine being Loki in this situation, you've taken control of a kid who turns out to be way more powerful than you assumed, and he's constantly on the verge of breaking your hold on him, that is going to be one very nervous god
3. The 1st Avengers era of the MCU has superpowered beings as a pretty new thing to the public, Shield is around and they're trying to keep a lid on things, but they're still very behind the scenes, they've likely been keeping tabs on Danny and his situation but have deemed it too volatile to interfere unless they have no other choice. It's also possible that despite keeping official news outlets from reporting on Amity Park activities, they can do nothing about videos of ghost fights spreading across the net, by the time the Avengers have formed, people would have figured out that these vids were actually real, and not just very well crafted hoaxes
4. Shield neglected to tell anyone about Danny until he suddenly shows up being controlled by Loki, and everyone is all 'who the FUCK is this kid' and they're all looking at Thor and he's like 'don't look at me Loki didn't have THAT on Asgard', and then Nick Fury has to clear his throat and explain them a thing
5. Shield has been commissioning the Fentons for ghost hunting gear this whole time, Tony has to improvise ghost weaponry into his suit very quickly, this can and should lead to Tony getting attacked halfway through the process, and him having to figure out how to use it completely on the fly, bonus points for an 'I meant to do that' moment

Mind if I jump on the avengers bandwagon? I can see several fun ways for Danny to break out of Loki’s control: 1. Loki slips up on one of his orders, giving Danny free will. The movie ends a little early. 2. The avengers go through the excruciating process of kidnapping an amity ghost, and then the just as difficult process of convincing that ghost to Punch Danny. 3. Loki gets a little TOO nervous about having such a dangerous ghost around, so he just. Orders Danny to sit in the basement for /1
the next three weeks. Danny gets hungry enough to snap out of it, and ominously rises out of the ground like a creature of horror movies. 4. Dr Strange ACTUALLY intervenes, because matters of the prime material plane are not his duty but actual ghost royalty getting kidnapped IS. 5. A second, female?? Danny shows up and works with the avengers. 6. Thirty floating eyeballs in robes show up, and whisk Danny away. “Danny Phantom, you will return to your realm at once. You have dodged your kingly /2
165 consecutive hours, and this insolence will be tolerated no longer. You may play with the living LATER, when you have completed your paperwork.” (Bonus if their in the middle of battle) 7. Clockwork picks Danny up for his ectobiology lessons /3
pfffft the avengers trying to recruit Skulker to knock Danny around and he's like 'are you kidding last time I managed to land a hit on the kid was like six months ago so if you've got a deadline here-'
Danny sitting in a basement and breaking out of his mind control because he h a n g r y is peak comedy tbh
was Dr Strange like, around during the first movie? I'm pretty sure it was established in canon that he wasn't, and future Strange wouldn't be popping back through time unless this situation was gonna go apocalyptic and even then only if he was the only remaining option
Elle showing up out of nowhere is always a fun time we love her yes please
and just "YOU MAY PLAY WITH THE LIVING LATER" got me in stitches bruh

Senario: Danny gets caught up in the events of Guardians of the Galaxy by being arrested by the Nova Core while getting caught up in the events that caused Gamora, Rocket, Peter, and Groot arrested as well.
oh that would actually be hilarious
especially because if he can hide his powers from his parents' tech, he can probably mostly hide them from these guys initial bio-scans
so in this line-up they have this group of total assholes plus Some Terran Kid that they probably assume is Peter's son because why the fuck else would he be here? maybe they pick up something a little funky on his scans but they just assume it came from whatever race his mother was
what I'm not sure about is what they would do with a minor in that situation, would he be sent to prison with the rest or would they have a juvenile detention centre?
in either case, Danny is breaking the fuck out with absolute ease

You mentioned Danny playing the long game w/ defeating thanos. Does this mean that he will get involved in the events of Guardians of the Galaxy? If so, how would the Nova Core, the Kree, and LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE react to this overpowered ghost?
probably with an awful lot of shock and awe, they'd probably believe him to be some great cosmic terror, emerged from the depths of space
he'd have gotten friendly enough with Guardians that they tell the Nova Core 'oh that's just Danny, he's cool, he's half terran!'
I don't think Danny would stick around to make friends with any kind of authority based on his own personal history, so he's basically a complete enigma to any kind of alien government, only known personally by a ragtag few who always describe him as 'just a pretty cool dude, really loves being in space'

so my first thought about this was actually the X-Men, who would be not even remotely surprised by laws like that being passed since they've pretty much experienced the exact same kind of discrimination, they'd be too jaded to be horrified but they would definitely be hugely understanding and sympathetic.
But the thing is DP is pretty much one of the few effective ghost fighters in their world PLUS he's the strongest. Whereas Marvel does have many non-mutant heroes.
true but honestly that doesn't make much of a difference when it comes to humans being discriminatory
the X-Men are far more effective heroes than non-powered humans and the government still tries to take them out, regardless of how powerful you are and how much you want to help, if humans view you as sub-human, they'll still treat you like shit
so people wanting to hunt Phantom despite him being the best hero they have still isn't surprising to them, fear has a tendency to win out over logic time and time again

If antman dies tiny do you think he would have a two inch tall ghost for eternity
anon asking the real questions
technically in my version of canon a ghost's appearance is a loose representation of their view of themselves, including their insecurities, so if antman doesn't perceive himself as that small generally, his ghost won't be that small either
but if we're talking show canon, who knows? maybe he would! it would be pretty funny

the amount of attention part one of my Context/marvel-danny phantom WIP received makes me feel very emotional, thank you.
In that same sentence, I have more motivation to not put it down! Yay! So.
I have headcanons. Or kinda notes about what was going on.
Edit I meant to put this in a queue, crap.
So! Most of the time, Danny phantom is placed in like early EARLY 2000s right? Marvel is ever so slightly ahead of that. So... I'm skewing the timeline! Anything that's Avengers takes place AFTER individual movies (so Iron Man the trilogy are before the first movie) because I despise the time gaps and I would rather not write about those (unless I fill it with drama about Danny trying to get Amity Park back under control and Ghost Politics)
I mean, my general sense for both (no matter how many times I watch marvel, I always space out smh) of the timelines are already murky. But this'll take place like a year after the accident I think, and a week before summer break. I just got out of highschool, I do Not Want To Write About It.
So Danny's still pretty young. Anyways. The chitauri invasion is a couple of days after Part 1. Not many, but like one or two. Yeah... uh... Danny's getting out of school early. His family are Freaking Out. As is the rest of Amity Park. Phantom is gone, and the ghosts are ALSO freaking out because their resident playmate and territory protector is GONE so new not so nice murdery ghosts are starting to be a bit... attracted to the resident town with a hole in reality in it.
So, Strange and Wong are the ones who summoned Danny. They don't know everything about the future, but they know enough that they need backup. Stuff is going to go Down, and that's kinnnda scary. So they want to get the Ghost King to make a deal with them. If it gets too bad, the Ghost King can put the people in the GZ or help out in general.
The thing is... Pariah Dark is a known cruel king. The order (i forgot what they were called ;-;) have dealt with him before, and they are Not keen to do it again. However, Strange being Strange decides that future events are more dangerous than a pissy ghost king.
...they aren't expecting a pint-sized baby-face ghost. Who talks about Pariah like he's a toddler throwing a tantrum.
And who can break out of ghost barriers and time-pauses, apparently.
Danny's had enough close encounters with timelines and time magic/energy stuff to build up a bit of a... resistance. Add to his halfa status and general overpoweredness, and he can do a LOT of reality breaking. If he leans into one side more though, he can mess himself up. Like if he's being Danny Fenton and is showing off ghost powers, he could end up puking ectoplasm as a sign of straining himself. If he's Danny Phantom (only Amity people know him as Danny Phantom though) and straining his more human qualities, his core starts hurting. Badly. (This leads into smth else that I have a plan in mind for but I'm not getting into.)
Back to Strange's and Wong's POV. So, they tried to catch him when he broke the barrier via utilizing timepausing (i cannot for the life of me remember the actual term), but as most know that doesn't work. Danny gets out of the house, and vanishes.
...Strange and Wong are having both an argument and a mental breakdown at the same time. Did they just accidently unleash some new overpowered ghost or-?
Who even WAS that and WHY did he show up when they summoned the Ghost King?
Unless...

Original OP!Danny/Marvel anon: oh. oh god what have I done. what have I started. you even have a whole tag for it now. wow. I mean I love that this happened but. somehow this was not what I expected or even intended lol. anyway loving it all, great job everybody. now I present to you (to bring it back around to OP stuff): Loki DOES manage to "flip" Danny to his side and the Avengers/etc. feel betrayed. until he goes and defeats Thanos almost single-handedly defeats him (no gauntlet after all!)
oh yeah things get out of hand very quickly around here, especially when op Danny is involved
but as much as Danny shooting off to fight Thanos is a super fun idea I am completely unable to accept this without spending an inappropriate amount of time overthinking it
I just cannot abide ignoring the many many problems, like I definitely think he's got more than a hell of a chance against the fucker, but as OP as Danny is that doesn't mean he can't struggle and it doesn't give him a free pass to be reckless, what makes an OP character interesting isn't their ability to kick total ass, it's the fact that kicking total ass doesn't actually make everything easy or simple, there are always other roadblocks
Thanos is a Big Deal and a powerhouse of a brute even without the stones, it wouldn't be a quick and simple takedown, it would be messy, mostly because he has armies, devoted followers, insane weapons and, at this point in the canon, two dedicated and extremely dangerous daughters, Danny is powerful, but going into a fight like that alone would be downright stupid, especially because he's never fought an alien and has no idea whether their weaponry could hurt him, whether his powers even work on them
like, yeah maybe he could go in there blast through everything and kick Thanos' ass but he doesn't know that for sure, it would be a wicked risk to take, not to mention that one of Danny's biggest weaknesses is his own self doubt, this guy is a space tyrant who has wiped out millions of people across hundreds of planets, nobody can even touch him, nobody has even come close, that's gonna be daunting as hell, nobody other than maybe Loki would believe that he has a chance, and Loki would probably be lying
he also doesn't know where Thanos is, Loki probably doesn't know where he is, he isn't on the ships sending the platoons through the portal during the avengers movie so he can't get to him that way, he can't just fly randomly into space, he's fast but not fast enough for space travel, he would need a ship, and he would need someone who would agree to take him, and someone who would know where to take him
if Danny is gonna take down Thanos, he'd be playing the long game, something Loki is very good at, meaning that Danny's involvement isn't going to be the immediate end of Thanos, he is a canon divergence, Loki is playing a new game and it's one where he doesn't end up back in Thanos' pocket or in a cell back on Asgard
and he is also integral to Danny's eventual takedown of Thanos, he might not believe that Danny could do it singlehanded, but he sees a potential in Danny that many of the other avengers wouldn't, simply because he's a child, because Loki doesn't see a child, he sees a being who is all the best parts of human, jotun and draugr, he can feel the ice in his veins and the reek of death and that cold power always pulsing from him, Loki is familiar with magic, he's attuned to things most aren't, and he knows Danny is something special, even if he doesn't know exactly why
Loki can establish a sense of understanding and connection between them, using not just his own role as a pawn in a game larger than himself, but also the fact that they are both different, misunderstood, underestimated, under-appreciated, treated like dirt just because of who they are, even the simple matter of being creatures of ice with a hidden monstrous visage
Danny has never had anyone he could relate to like this, and Loki would absolutely omit a ton of details about his more nefarious deeds to endear himself to Danny further, he has to establish a firm relationship of trust to ensure that Danny won't turn on him as soon as his free will is returned
and Loki does return it, and Danny agrees to help him, but it's going to be on HIS terms
and I ABSOLUTELY cannot go further with this without rewatching a few mcu films so I'm gonna have to leave it here for now
