HEY BY THE WAY
Z-lib isn't actually gone. It's just 'hidden' and for now the only way to access it (on the regular web) is to create an account via singlelogin.me
It gives you your own unique, password protected personal domain. It works for now, idk if that way won't get blocked too eventually.
EDIT: it got blocked 😭😭 welp, library genesis is still around for now

Hey! We're back with part 5, the final part! Better Future Program (@bfpnola) is officially looking for youth volunteers between the ages of 14 and 25 for our Advocacy Committee. Don't see a role that fits? Don't worry! We've got SO MANY opportunities, we had to split them up across multiple posts! Feel free to check our Linktr.ee for more positions or our "Apply Now!" highlight on Instagram in the coming weeks!
And if you don’t know who we are? Welcome! BFP is Black-, queer-, and woman-owned nonprofit, entirely run by youth! Since 2016, we’ve been accepting volunteers not just from Bulbancha (so-called New Orleans, Louisiana), but WORLDWIDE! Our mission is to globally expand peer-led political education, support, and imagination for marginalized youth!
To fulfill this goal, we offer over 3,000 free resources through our Liberation Library, design and execute mutual aid-based projects, and offer the safe space young activists need to ask questions and grow. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, check out our International Youth Leadership Positions page in our bio!
Image description below.
[ID: All slides share the same background. There is a repeating list of BFP’s guiding principles and core beliefs in translucent, all-white, capitalized letters. BFP’s guiding principles include youth-centricity, self-liberation, transparency, accountability, horizontality, community, and intersectionality. BFP’s core beliefs include the right to organize, educational equity, youth liberation, anti-racism, religious liberty, disability justice, climate action, decolonization, gender equity, queer/LGBTQ+ liberation, bodily autonomy, fat liberation, abolition, caste abolition, anti-authoritarianism, and anti-capitalism. A plum purple to magenta-purple gradient overlays this list. A bold, white square frames the image with a white arrow pointing right in the bottom right corner.
Slide 1 reads: “LINK IN BIO. APPLY NOW! INTERNATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP POSITIONS! REMOTE & IN-PERSON.” There is a BFP logo in the lefthand corner and the words “Part Five” in the righthand corner, as this is the first of multiple posts showcasing open leadership positions.
Slide 2 reads: "Resources Committee: Resource Hunters

Although there is a wealth of literature on shadow libraries, none of this have focused on its potential role in knowledge dissemination, through the open access movement.

my best discovery this year: the wayback machine!
amazing. it’s the place where you can save a webpage or a book so that copies can be found online securely, even if the original has been damaged, lost or hidden:
Internet Archive: https://archive.org/
Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org
Save Page Now: https://web.archive.org/save
if you make a free account, you can save all outgoing links on a webpage while saving the original page, plus use the Internet Archive’s library.

You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).
Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

In a world where chaos reigned, one man made a sacrifice for the greater good. Dystopian societies fought for survival as humanity teetered on the edge of oblivion. Amidst this turmoil, a hero emerged, willing to pay the ultimate price. His selfless act echoed through time, a beacon of hope in a world consumed by darkness. In his memory, we find strength to persevere and rebuild our shattered society. This is the summary of your work so far:

Does anyone know anywhere I can read academic books for free? The book I'm looking for isn't in my local library or any of the online libraries I usually use (zlibrary, openlibrary etc). The only way I can currently access it is by playing ≈£80. Is there anywhere I can view it for free?
