Espeon Facts

@captainfalcon03 asked me to do this, but I accidently deleted the post. But this is an awnser to their ask!

-The scientific name for Espeon is "Alter vulpes sol" which means "other sun fox"

-Espeon is known as "The Sun Pokemon," because they get their psychic energy from the sun. Many ancient cultures also took inspiration from their sun bathing techniques to gain psychic abilities themselves

-The fur on espeon's ears droop and become thinner the older they get

-Because their fur is very sensitive to it's surroundings, espeon don't have a great sense of smell

-The gem on their head doesn't apply to any gems you can find in nature. But it mostly resembles either ruby, red eudialyte, red jasper, garnet, or red coral

-Espeons can have slightly different fur coloring and body types depending on the time of day they evolved. Dawn espeon are usually shorter and have darker fur, sunhigh or Noon espeon have lighter fur and are the most common (the ones you see on the pokedex), and sunset espeon have a purplish/pinkish color scheme and have ears the point slightly more downward

-Because wild espeon are so rare, researchers often put tracking devices on the ones they do find. There's actually a website that allows you to see the footage of wild espeon and where they go

-When angered, their eyes begin to glow instead of their orbs. The orbs only glow when using their psychic abilities

-The inside of espeons ears can be either purple or blue

-Espeons are common for illegal poaching, as the gem is very valuable (it gives psychic abilities to the pokemon that holds it. Don't poach espeon)

-Espeons are great for beginner trainers as they mostly like to relax and are fine just cuddling up to their trainers

-Like leafeon, espeon needs to sun a lot. Most in the wild prefer to sun in an open clearing or field, but in the house, they're fine with finding a window and sitting by that to get sunlight

-Lack of sunlight can cause espeon to get grumpy and irritable, so they're usually the most grouchy during cloudy or rainy days

-Espeon are related to the meowstic line. The eevee line, in general, are actually related to a lot of pokemon, and I might have to do an entire post on that

-Espeon in the wild tend to better care for young eevee, as they can foresee ant danger that might come to them, and can easily find ways to avoid it

-Espeon in Alola tend to be more powerful, as they get lots of sunlight

-Ancient civilizations in the Asado deserts of Paldea Worshipped espeon, almost like gods

Meowstic was her first Pokémon, given to her by her parents! Little Pokémon lore here, but generally the meowstic matches the gender of the rival character, Evie’s is male as a little nod to my trans evie hc (happy pride month to demigirl evie :D )

Evelin knit her alolan sandslash a scarf in the bps color scheme because she thinks it’s a little chilly and also deserves to be warm and snuggly. Yk, the ice type. Little chilly.

Notes on Evie’s design in this au: her hair is dyed blue instead to match her ice type specialty!! The arm sleeve is the match to Adam’s (not a ship, it’s more of a comfort item at this point !!). Her sneakers have Lapras’s color scheme and I think I need a pair to match tbh. Glasses because they fit the vibe. Would be very silly if they were non prescription fashion glasses hehe

So I already did class 1B and their pokemon partners a while back but now ill do why I think that pokemon fits since I didnt do it last time. :>

Awase - honedge - vibe matches (that and if you touch the handle of a honedge it will possess your body and fuse itself with you i think im not sure lmao)

Sen - excadrill - drill lol

Kamakiri - syther - syther is just Kamakiri but pokemon

Kuroiro - mimikyu - they are both spooky on the outside but they deep down both just really want to be liked by those around them (kuroiro would be the best pokemon trainer to his mimikyu and you could not convince me otherwise)

Kendo - mienfoo - idk i just think she would vibe with a mienfoo. Not to mention they both fight with their hands (i think) so thats cool

Kodai - hatterene - hatterenes dislike loud invasive people and yui is the opposite of that. Kodai didnt pick hatterene, hatterene picked kodai

Komori - morlull - both cute mushrooms

Shiozaki - bulbasaur - its litterally called the flower dinosaur pokemon (i think) so I was either gonna put bulbasaur for Shiozaki or Tokage lmao

Shishida - denenne - I remember a scene in the pokemon anime where a big muscular guy was taken down by a tiny pokemon that could fit in the palm of his hand (it wasn't denenne but still) and idk I just went based on that and vibe

Shoda - meowstic - I picked this one entirely on the fact that meowstic can learn helping hand and idk i feel like of his quirk was a pokemon move it would be that. Also depending on the meowstics gender they could have matching color schemes

Pony - ponyta - its because theyre both ponys. (And the vibe matches honestly)

Tsubaraba - rowlett - he only got a rowlett because its a round ass bird and he wants to make angry bird jokes.

Tetsutetsu - snuffle - i really like when buff guys have small cute pets so. Plus when snuffles evolve into bewears their hug strength is enough to kill someone accidentally so with tetsus quirk he can withstand their hugs without being hurt and i think thats cute

Tokage - salazzle - this pokemon is 100% guarenteed to be a girl and its a lizard so. I hate to say that of all things was my logic fir hers but that was in fact my logic

Manga - smeargle - its litterally a monkey that makes paints with the oils in its tail. I just really like the idea of manga painting with this silly little monkey pokemon

Honenuki - sylveon- it says in the hero analysis book that honenuki is the type to easily make friends with anyone and sylveon is the friendship pokemon so ye

Bondo - goodra - in goodras pokedex entry it says that, although the pokemon is quite large, it is kind to everyone and anyone they also tend to cover their trainers in the goo that covers their bodys when they hug them. So theyre both gentle giants woth goo/glue

Monoma - ditto - copy abilitys lol

Reiko - yamask - it just seems like the type of pokemon she would have honestly, either that or an abra or some other ghost or psychic type

Rin - axew - not only is axew a dragon type (and green) which fits rins quirk and aesthetic but i read that axews often venture away from their owners for small periods of time to collect cool rocks, bottle caps and other thinks like that to gift their owners and rin would keep every little thing his pokemon gave him

Hey, could you cover the Pokémon for each of the Chain’s teams and why you chose them? Also each of the starters for them!

You can keep it to the ones who have had their Pokémon revealed for now as well.

Also, nothing will convince me that the Lord of the Mountain isn’t just Xernas! It just works too well in my brain.

Oooh thank you for the ask!!! Yeah hfgsdh when I was figuring out the worldbuilding, I had thought of Xerneas taking Satori's place. But as I was working out the region, I really wanted to keep some of the Zelda creatures, so Satori became its own Mythical pokemon, a Fairy/Ghost type! But since Mythicals are a level below Legendaries, it does fall under Xerneas's domain. Kinda like Celebi and Dialga both being Time-related.

But teams! I've got them listed below the cut. Most of the teams were chosen by vibes or connections to characters/features/things in the Zelda games, with lots of help from lots of friends fgdsh. Starters are a bit looser in this AU. There are official Professor-given starters, but it's much more common to find a pokemon to be your partner on your own.

Sky: His starter was Rufflet, who's now evolved into Braviary. He has a Honedge nicknamed Fi and an Altaria that's twins with an Altaria that Sun has. He has a few more pokemon, but he'll get his debut soon.

Four: We've met Shadow already, an Umbreon. He also has Red (Flareon), Green (Leafeon), Blue (Vaporeon), and Vio (Espeon). Which one is his starter? There's a fic coming for that one.

Time: His starter was a Cutiefly named Navi, who's since evolved into Ribombee. The only pokemon we've met of his so far is Saria, the Phantump he found in the Lost Woods, but he has a full battle team aside from her.

Legend: His starter was Scorbunny, who's now Cinderace. His Meowstic is twins with Fable's Meowstic, and we've met his Sableye briefly. After The Main Event, he gets a service pokemon, a Musharna named Marin. She doesn't count to his carry limit, but he has a full team that we'll meet in the next chapter.

Hyrule: His starter was Dedenne, and the rest of his team was introduced in Welcome to the League. Ariados, Fennekin, Klefki, Vivillon, and an Eevee egg... I wonder if that will hatch soon...

Wind: His starter was an Oshawott, who's now a Dewott. I posted a little snippet here where he met Piplup early on in his Gym Challenge adventure. That was a few years ago to present-day, so he has a full team now that will be introduced soon.

Twilight: His starter is Epona, a Mudbray that's now evolved into Mudsdale. It will come as no surprise that he has a Gogoat, along with a few other aptly-themed pokemon for his character fgsjkh.

Warriors: His starter was a Ralts, that's now evolved into Gallade. His Pyroar and Corviknight have been introduced in Ups and Downs, but he also has a full team that will show up soon.

Wild: His starter was Rowlet, who's now evolved into Decidueye. She's a shiny, because the color scheme of the shiny reminded me of Wild's cloak (thank you Karo for pointing that out to me!). His Flapple was one of his early catches as an Applin, and the rest of his team is Arcanine, Boltund, Sawsbuck, and Scraggy.

but this time, I'm actually going to take a moment to assign pokemon pairings to the vocaloids! This will probably involve a lot more aesthetics just since there's inherently less to go on, and also half of the point of vocaloids is that their character can be anything.

To start with the leading lady, Miku is getting a shiny zorua! As I said the whole point of vocaloid characters to me is that they are less actual characters and more templates. And zorua has illusion powers! It's shiny to match more with Miku's color scheme and also, c'mon, it's Miku. She's the vocaloid mascot and the most widely known one, she's a major cultural icon! She'll be the only character getting a shiny pokemon to emphasize that.

Luka is getting a musharna! Luka is usually given a more mature soft vibe when compared to Miku. I feel like musharna matches well with that while also matching her color scheme. In addition its power over dreams and its sleepiness make it an especially great pairing for her WxS variation. Which I have a bias towards.

The twins have to have matching pokemon, I'm sorry but it needs to happen. I'm thinking meowstic, since they're the same pokemon with two different variations, so the two meowstics could hypothetically be twins as well, which I think is silly! The twins also have a youthful energetic vibe, and meowstics are little pranksters! I'm thinking male meowstic for Rin, as the scruffiness really matches her usual tomboyishness. Female meowstics are also noted as being arrogant and stubborn, and I feel like that could give it a fun dynamic with a lot of the project sekai Len variants.

Meiko gets a kricketune! Meiko is often depicted as mature but in a different way from Luka. More of a levelheadedness than a softness? Anyways I feel like that suits the little bug conductor very well. Especially since she's a vocaloid and it has a music theme!

Kaito has always seemed like a blank slate on par with Miku as just being very nothing to me, which is good for a vocaloid, but... idk what to pick really since I already used zorua and also Miku had the additional weapon of being a major icon. I guess I'll give him a vaporeon, since did you know that out of all the pokemon, vaporeon is the most cool? Okay in all seriousness it's blue, its ability to turn into water matches with the lack of character of vocaloids, and also it's an eeveelution which already plays into adaptability.

What do you think about Meowstic?

Hi there anon! I actually really like the Meowstic line in general. It's definitely in my favorites for the Kalos region. In general I like cats so most cat Pokemon tend to be high up there on my favorites list. Their design is easily my favorite of the bipedal feline lines we've gotten thus far in the series and I really love their color scheme. I found it really interesting that their movesets changed depending on the gender and I personally really creative to kind of give you two Pokemon for the price of one. I don't really dive too much into competitive but I am aware of the fact that they aren't really used. But that's okay because honestly not every Pokemon needs to be intentionally built for the metagame.

All the poster characters from season four of stranger things but I assign them 1 Pokémon each based on vibes:

Karen- Leavanny: noted for being an exceptionally maternal Pokémon, it even makes clothes out of leaves for its young….also fits the green theming the wheelers have got going on in this au which is fun.

Joyce- Pyroar: Specifically noted as being good mothers and protecting their young extremely fiercely… plus cats are supposed to be able to pick up on things other things don’t so Joyce being a lion fits her imo

Hopper- Camerupt: Hop can have an……explosive temper but mostly I just picture a very unimpressed looking volcano camel following hop around and staring into the camera like it’s on the office. Big crotchety old man vibes and that suits hop.

Murray- Beheeyem: Murray is literally a conspiracy theorist and this is the Pokémon equivalent of the men in black how could I not give him this…..also an underrated personal favorite psychic type

Steve- Floatzel: I sat here for ages trying to think of a Pokémon for Steve and then I realized floatzel works really well+ it’s literally described as making an effort to save people that are drowning so clearly it has the proper protective instincts and I can just see Steve chilling with this dude

Robin- Chatot: A music note themed parrot that can replicate and as they age understand human speech?? Yeah this suits robin pretty well, plus one of its possible abilities is tangled feet which suits Robin’s general lack of coordination.

Eddie- Obstagoon: This is Gene Simmons as a Pokémon….not a ton of lore but it’s a punk used by the “evil” team in gen 8 and it suits him

Nancy- Gardevoir: Looks pretty and feminine (ie pre s1 nancy), loyal and will summon a black hole to protect its trainer, has some knight inspiration as well….overall very strong and cool Pokémon, plus her and mike have Pokémon with similar color schemes

Johnathan- Male meowstic: said to have awakened its psychic powers out of a need to protect itself, and must restrain itself to not wreak havoc with these powers. Males are highly protective of those they care about and are hesitant to fight unless those people are in danger.

Argyle- Alolan Raichu: chill surfer dude vibes and the fact that I can just imagine a lil Raichu floating around next to Argyle while he’s making the grave for the agent man and is helping to decorate it. I just think the energies are the same.

Erica- Galarian ponyta: Look me dead in the eyes and tell me Erica would not have this as a Pokémon……you can’t because it’s true!!

Dustin- Rotom: mischievous electric ghost that possesses electronics and is smart enough to cause havoc….also it’s heavily associated with befriending children with a knack for tinkering and engineering in Pokémon so it’s pretty reasonable that one would take a liking to Dustin.

Lucas- Luxray: (might be a touch of bias because I adore the shinx line and I have a shiny luxray) Lucas is usually the one in the party to scout out situations for danger…..he’s also pretty good at seeing through people and luxray can see through walls which is great for someone who uses long range weaponry

Max- Crobat: Fast and agile flying type that starts out as a super common annoying cave encounter but through the power of friendship evolutions becomes a really cool and powerful Pokémon. The Pokémon I gave Mike is also 4x weak to crobat as well which is funny.

Mike- Chesnaught: literally an armored knight that shields loved ones with its own body, and its (formerly?) signature move is spiky shield so it is spot on for how prickly and defensive Mike is… also I think him and Will both having stuff from the gen 6 starter trio is cute

Will- Delphox is literally a traditional fantasy wizard with fire powers…..The gen 6 starters are literally based around an rpg party it’s too perfect and Will did have a dog at some point so having a fox Pokémon tracks + I gave all the Byers psychic or fire types

El- Type Null or Marshadow: Null makes more sense since it was modified in a lab for use as a weapon before breaking out, and it reaches its evolution through high friendships. Marshadow just really reminds me of s1 El for some reason….both work fine but I would probably say type null is the more official choice.

Cat pokemon for the Germanics Austria: Glameow and Persian

Germany: Liepard

Prussia: Litleo and Espeon

Switzerland: Luxray

Liechtenstein: Skitty and Meowstic

Austria is totally a Glameow person!! Prussia would tease him to no end due to it evolving into a fat cat :'D

Germany is such a blatant dog person that it's hard to imagine a fitting cat Pokemon for him. Liepard being a big cat definitely helps!

I think Espeon fits Austria more than Prussia, not only because of its color scheme, but because its Ultrasun entry says that it initially had no powers at all and developed precognitive faculties only later to protect itself. I think this is mirrored well by how Austria as a kid wasn't good at fighting and later learned how to make up for it by tying convenient relationships rather than ever learning how to become particularly strong on his own on the battlefield. I think Umbreon, Flareon or Jolteon would fit Prussia more among Eevolutions, but I think another cat that would fit him would be Persian's Galarian counterpart, Perrserker! Both Persian and Perrserker are proud and short-tempered, but they present themselves in opposite ways and have a mutual disliking of each other ... Like our two boys 😂

I think Luxray fits Switzerland, not only it is strong, but its Gen5 entries imply that it is protective and uses its ability to see through objects not only to attack preys, but also to seek the pack's cubs if they get lost.

... Which would make it cute if Liechtenstein also had a Shinx 💗 Not sure about a fully evolved Meowstic, but I can totally see her having an Espurr and spoiling it a lot. She'd totally make it wear ribbons and brush its fur often <3 Her Skitty would accidentally make it cry sometimes with its overly excited attitude 🌸

... Also, this reminds me that TPCI officially confirmed that Trubbish is a cat, although I've always thought it was more of a rabbit.

Imagine Prussia finding a particularly friendly one and he's initially a little grossed out because it's basically sentient garbage and he's a clean freak, but eventually he falls in love with it and starts obsessing over how cute it is.

Ridonculous Race

Taking a break from the Island Runs to to RR!! Also just as Pokemon, since there are SO many teams. Under the cut

Starting with

THE GOTHS: Crimson & Ennui are both Meowstics, since they're the most in-sync with each other and the most supportive toward each other in the entire series. Thus, a Meowstic Set makes sense since Psychic types can learn Dark type moves, and Meowstic has seen and survived the horrors.

Bonus, their Bunny Loki would be a Bunnelby

THE ICE DANCERS: Josee would be a Weavile, graceful but scheming, while her partner Jacques would be a Gallade; also graceful, while more well-meaning, loyal to a fault.

THE BESTIES: Devin would be a Slowbro because he is useful but man is this man dumb how tf did he never notice Carrie liking him like c'mon bro its OBVIOUS. Carrie is a Goomy as I think she means well, but she came off as a little clingy.

THE SURFERS: Geoff makes his return, and he is a Surfing Pikachu still, joined by his surfer friend Brody, who is an Alolan Raichu. Again, both of them are pretty chill and pick on vibes easily enough, but can get caught up in their own egos from time to time.

THE POLICE CADETS: Sanders is a Growlithe and MacArthur I made a Herdier as Sanders seems to be thoughtful and figure things out, While MacArthur is very loud and charges ahead without thinking things through all the time. By the time things wrap, they would both evolve into their final evolutions, to showcase their growth.

THE DATERS/THE HATERS: Stephanie and Ryan are pretty much constantly arguing and breaking up/making up, plus are self-proclaimed gym rats, so I made them Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee; constant rivals, working out, working well together but also easily becoming each others enemies, like they do in the show.

THE TENNIS PROS: I made Pete a Gumshoos and Gerry a Crabrawler. Honestly, I just picked pokemon that looked like old men for them, since that was their schtick.

THE SISTERS: These two took a while, since I wanted a related set of Pokemon. I eventually settled on making Emma a Gardevoir and Kitty a Kirlia, as both girls are reported to be smart but can get overwhelmed by emotion

FATHER AND SON: I couldn't figure out what to do with Dwayne for the longest time, until I settled on Delibird, because although it is cute, it could be considered a little goofy, dorky and older. It is why I made Jr a Shinx; younger pokemon, but a completely opposite type, to explain his disconnection with his father at times.

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER: Since they were clearly Kardashian parodies, I had to go for wealthy, fancy pokemon. They are also the least adept, so I went with Normal types for them. I made Kelly a Cinccino and Taylor a Delcatty.

THE FASHION BLOGGERS: I made them similar types or similar looking types of Pokemon, that had a lot to do with Fashion. Jen I made a Leavanny, which is noted to make its own clothes and the judgement of the middle evolution never left them. Tom I made a Lurantis, to differ him a bit but also keep him stylish.

THE GENIUSES: Obviously, both are psychic types. Ellody I made an Indeedee due to the tireless amount of work she puts into everything, and I made Mary a Farigiraf, as clearly the TD team design wanted her to be weird, but she's actually pretty cool; she's also more willing to adapt to other things, unlike her partner.

THE VEGANS: I made Laurie a Bayleef, as she seemed ready to throw down, especially after the food challenge and Bayleef is noted to kind of give of a vibe of aggression while being a plant pokemon. Miles I made a Lilligant, as once again another plant pokemon, whose performance can be quickly outstripped by others.

THE LARPers: Wow another one joke team. Anyways, to kind of match the vibes, I made Leonard a Medicham and Tammy and Escavalier. They were there so briefly, it was hard to think what others would fit.

THE ADVERSITY TWINS: I made Mickey a Feebas and Jay a Magikarp, as both ugly fish are portrayed as going through adversity and once they evolve, they do become better at surviving everything.

THE REALITY TV PROS: Owen and Noah have evolved from their stints on Total Drama to a Xatu and a Snorlax. See that post for their original pokemon choice.

THE ROCKERS: Spud is almost dumber than Devin, so I made him a Slowpoke, and Rock I made a Luxio; kind of in the middle of being useful but not too much.

Finally

THE STEP BROTHERS: Chet is a Pikachu-Colored Pichu and Lorenzo is a Spiky Eared Pichu. I specifically chose these Event pokemon because they were presented as a pair and are literally nearly identical, which the Step-Brothers, in personality, definitely are. They grow closer through the challenge and end up becoming friends, but enemies at first.

Bonus:

DON, THE HOST: Persian, as he's also part of the original 151 like Chris, but he's a much less successful host as we only meet/see him in RR, but he's got better stats. More than likely because he invested his time/money better

Ashe doesn’t have a set naming scheme for her pokemon so it just depends on what she’s feeling like at the time.

NOTE: These are the names of the pokemon I have leveled to lvl 100 and use in my games, lmao.

Lucky (Eevee/Empatheon) was given to her partner in a cruel context and was named Unlucky at first. Ashe, as a child, is under the assumption growing up she is lucky to be born because her own mother didn’t want her and dumped her on her grandmother, Victoria, and Unlucky was just unlucky to be stuck with her. The name was modified by her grandmother to Lucky because in reality, both are lucky to have found one another as partnerships like that don’t come along too often, and many years down the road from that miserable child, Ashe now reflects heavily on the fact that she was lucky to have this little Eevee/Empatheon stick with her from the very beginning, and so all in all... his name is very fitting.

Saoirse (Primarina) is named after a movie Ashe came to love as one of the main characters is a Selkie, a mythological creature in Galarian folklore. The name itself means ‘Freedom’ in Irish.

Merlin (Delphox) is named ironically after more Galarian folklore -- this time, Arthurian Legend. Ashe found it fitting considering Delphox are said to be able to manipulate magic and see the past and future with their flames. The name Merlin itself is derived from Myrddin and means “Sea Fortress” in Celtic(?).

Mirage (Absol) was named for the fact she was a blur on the battlefield during an attempt at catching her -- in total it took three times and three Pokemon Center tries before Mirage yielded.

Mononoke (Kanto Ninetales) was named once again after a movie Ashe loved and she found it fitting considering its meaning. Not to mention Mononoke has the personality of a troll online and lives for the chaos. The name or word Mononoke is used to described spirits that are vengeful and like to cause death and torment.

Omen (Frosmoth) was going to be called something else, but after seeing her pass under a full moon and how pretty she was and considering butterflies are seen as agents of the underworld and what not, the name Omen seemed appropriate as Ashe almost did die in Galar from an illness.

Trixie (Mismagius) is a simple name Ashe came up with that she thought would fit the Mismagius and it suits her well. The name Trixie means “Bringer Of Joy” or can be used as a generic name for most ghost-type pokemon.

Mia (Delcatty) was given to her by Leon as a baby Skitty. Full of energy, Ashe had trouble coming up with a name at first, but it was Morgan watching a movie one night that settled on the name as it was simple and easy to remember. The name Mia means “Mine” in Spanish and is used as a term of endearment such as “Darling, Dear”. (NOTE: Mia is also the name of one of my cats and the story of it goes my mom was watching Mama Mia and I decided on it because I am incredibly indecisive about pet names, whoops.)

Nova (Ceruledge) was named just because the name sounded cool. The name itself can just be taken from ‘Supernova’.

Logan (Liepard) was named originally going to be named Storm but after inspiration from passing by a food place... well... and also it is the name of a movie character that Ashe likes to let people believe he’s named after (it’s better then the real reason). The name Logan means “Log or Little Hollow” in Scottish. (NOTE: The story is true and it’s also the name of my oldest cat!)

Loch (Lapras) was named for a place in Galar that Lapras tend to frequent and supposedly where they nest and breed in great quantities.

Rascal (Meowstic) was named for his mischievous nature despite his stoic expression and the fact he’s always pulling some kind of prank.

Oberon (Galar Rapidash) was named after the King of the Fae in stories Morgan used to tell her and after the fact he carries himself so regally. The name Oberon means “Noble and Bear-like” and comes from the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Vision (Hisui Braviary) was named after a movie and comic book character Ashe was into at the time of her Hisui adventure but it’s also fitting because he’s a psychic-type and sends pictures to communicate telepathically.

Joker (Meowscarada) was named after the protagonist of a game Ashe had played sometime before going to Paldea. She thought the name fit his spunky nature.

Piper (Daschbun) was named for her spunky nature and the need to always be on the go. She was originally going to be named Soleil but Morgan insisted on something simpler, and so... Piper was chosen. The name Piper means “Pipe Player or Flute Player” in British. (NOTE: It’s the name of my dog and the story is true too!)

Miraidon has no nickname.

thoughts on the meowstic line? they're my faves for a number of reasons but mostly bc like. something about their evolutions r rly nice looking. and it fits where u find them in game. these r regal pokemon, but they arent royal. they are allowed in castle grounds but they sure dont live there. idk i like it lol

Espurr's already a nice enough design as-is, given that it's basically a fluffy Scottish fold kitten, but whoever decided to give it That Expression needs a raise. Like, that's definitely the expression of something that's trying not to accidentally blow up buildings with its mind all right. The eyes alone elevate it from being decent to fucking amazing, and it's a good example of how character can make a fairly plain design really memorable.

Other than that, I like how fluffy it is; sometimes Pokemon doesn't include much in the way of fur textures, so it's nice to see them full-force here. The bright pink eyes against the grey and white fur also work nicely.

If I had one complaint, it's just that I'd like to see the limbs maybe be a little more distinct? Just some semblance of paws would've helped it feel a hair more organic. Otherwise, it's basically perfect.

I’m never sure how I feel about Meowstic. On the one hand it has a great design, and it’s neat that it takes after a nekomata.

But on the other hand, it feels like the most memorable part of Espurr was not the folded ears, but the eyes... which are completely lost here in favor of normal expressions. I don't dislike them as-is, but it's always a shame when an evolution looses the most distinctive aspect of the pre-evo. It kind of has eyespots inside of its ears, but they're more almond-shaped and not really that noticeable (heck, it's hard to tell those are even supposed to resemble eyes).

I kind of feel like Meowstic would be better if those folded ears were longer and covered the eyes, with giant round, ringed eyespots similar to Espurr's eyes on the outside to confuse opponents. That way the designs don't have to change much, but some of Espurr's great expression is being more clearly worked in there.

Aside from that though, these two are nice. What I really love about them is the sexual dimorphism. More than a few Pokemon lines tend to fit human binary standards in regards to having split designs (not always, but often). But these two? One doesn't really look more "masculine" or "feminine" than the other; they're just different, which is far more accurate to actual animal dimorphism and very refreshing to see. Hell, the dex even mentions that the females are more aggressive while males are more caring and defensive.

Otherwise, I really like the color schemes and the way the markings work with the shape of the body. Only nitpick is that those two fur tufts on the male look a little random and probably could've been either emphasized more or removed entirely.

Overall, a very good line.

I’ve been a fan of Pokémon for a really long time I have also thought about what Pokémon they would be like a lot so

Yuya= vibrava/flygon

Green and red color scheme plus goggle like eye protection

Yuto= hydreigon

The frills look exactly like his hair and the dark dragon double typing fits him insanely well

Yugo= garchomp

The species is known for being exceptionally fast on the ground and in the air, they are also vicious when angry

Yuri= Dragalge

A leafy sea dragon, plus the colors match him with purples and pinks. The poison typing also is very much a yuri thing

Yuzu: meloetta/jigglypuff

Yuzus flower and music theme is actually really hard to find an exact match for, especially with her trademark pink. While I feel like meloetta matches her more, the pink of jigglypuff is hard to look over

Ruri: starly/staraptor

This may change, but she’s gotta be a bird.

Rin: gardevoir

Just look at it.

Serena: purrloin/leipard

Cat girl, with themes of being a night thief. Alternatively she could also fit litten, or many other cat Pokémon but I think purloin matches her the most.

Reiji: meowstic

Serious expression, knows a lot.

Reira: espurr

Them eyes and also the dex entry stating it has abundant power.

Shingo: zorua

Talent for mimicking others and causing mischief for attention. Another good fit would be mr. mime

Gongenzaka:metagross

Known for being Tanky and like also really tough, plus it fits his superheavy deck theme well

Dennis: mime jr.

Jester vibes.

Shun: corviknight

Bird with metal plating, fits his theme to a tee plus it’s dark colors so bonus.

Sora: teddiursa/mimikyu

Both of these work for different reasons, teddiursa closely related to his ace, while mimikyu I feel fits him more on the level of “looking cute but being sinister” while also having that “I want to be loved” thing going on

Cacnea, i legit forgot about them until pokemon snap but after playing the desert level i love them, they run around with lil tumble weeds, food gets stuck to them and they drip when you use the scanner on them theyre so good

I LOVE mega evolutions and more spesifically mega rayquaza, its a shame they were shoehorned into the end of oras but theyre amazing
