I'm a Virgo who seeks to #EndEugenicism. #OnePiece has a 'void century's, but in reality we have a void of 25000 years and only concentrate on the last 6000. Trees can't grow without their roots, and those without knowledge of accurate human record are doomed to repeat the inaccurate, revised, vandalized, redacted, and malfeasantly-ascribed-to-greece, King jamesified, alternative fact version instead of the #JUSTICEFORALL Omniversalism we deserve.

I know that fandom often clowns on this statement
Tumblr media
from Law (about needing to take down monsters to learn about history), taking it as proof that he's somehow not fighting for freedom or that
Tumblr media
freedom of expression is not something important that has been sanctified ratified in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. (Article 19)
But that it is instead some nerdish pastime that no other character in One Piece or the real world is invested in (WG or otherwise) for obvious reasons of power, politics and freedom/repression.
But there are governments and organisations that regularly suppress this kind of expression (in One Piece and the real world--no surprise):
Tumblr media
There are governments and organisations that fear the pursuit of knowledge:
Partial SBS: Volume 86: Pedro led the Nox expedition party who were chased by the government for searching for poneglyphs, thus they became the Nox Pirates. That's a story from about 15 years ago.
Tumblr media
And there are governments and organisations that penalise people by taking their lives
Tumblr media
for seeking out knowledge. 👆👇
Tumblr media
From Clover,
Tumblr media
to Nico Olvia,
Tumblr media
to Rayleigh,
Tumblr media
to
(Egghead Arc spoilers under the cut)
to Pedro,
to the giants (👇 read right to left),
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to Vegapunk
Tumblr media
the power and desire to learn about history is emphasised and
Tumblr media
honoured,
(from chapter 396 👆)
Tumblr media
(from chapter 1066 👆)
and also acknowledged as a very dangerous undertaking.
Tumblr media
And even Cora talks to Law about
Tumblr media
the meaning behind the Will of D. not being lost, BUT "living on in the dark shadows of history around the world" (it's not easily seen either).
Like, knowing history and access to history/knowledge is one of the main themes of the manga. And Big Mom is a monster. And the World Government is a repressive monolith. And this guy (guy?) 👇:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
nuking places and people for not toeing the line, or for knowing too much; riddled with antipathy towards holders of the Will of D. and, with Artur's (Library of Ohara) claim (among others) that the ancient immense kingdom was formed by descendants of the D. clan (which is canon)—
Tumblr media
—then wouldn't you too be curious and more than a little pissed off that your curiosity could be the catalyst for persecution and genocide?
That searching for identity, roots...your reason for being, is not allowed? (Sound familiar?)
Like, those scholarly waters are nothing if not shark-infested.
Ultimately the pen (Robin's ability to read the poneglyphs, the scholars' meticulous research) probably will be mightier than the sword, and although bureaucracy can entrap, knowing how to read between the lines, or even to read them, can loosen the ties that bind, and help ensure they are not unfairly cast.
Keep fighting to study history, Law. I too want to know about the Will of D.

Modern College AU where Rayleigh is Ace's prof (his parents are still dead, the ASL brothers are fostered together) and spends every goddamn day having an internal crisis over the fact that his best friend/first love's son is right there in front of him every time he goes to work, and he knew the second he saw that boy walking into Sociology 310: Diversity of Family and Kinship Structures that he was Roger and Rouge's child, but doesn't know how to talk to him about it or whether he should bring it up at all

Small One Piece theory
D stands for Dream/Dreamer
(Devil fruits were created because people wish/ed for their power; Im uses 'mu' as 'I' which can mean 'void' and 'dream'; rêverie basically means daydream; and it fits the general idea of One Piece about Dreams and Freedom)

So we have two possibilies:
-Imu is Lilli; one of the twenty rulers that betrayed the oath and took power for themselves by assuming the throne.
-Imu is someone close to Lilli but the latter didn’t agree with Imu’s plan so Imu had her murdered and it’s traumatized them ever since.
Also I really like the idea of Imu actually being a child on stilts and the Gorosei being their caretakers.

The World Government is the epitome of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Everything about this “investigation” is done in the most destructive way possible on purpose just to make a point. They don’t care about wiping away 5000 years of history, so long as  that one century stays safely hidden.

This right here, we’ve seen it before.
Enies Lobby
Tumblr media
I didn’t think about before, this means the World Government owns and actively uses one of the Ancient Weapons.
That attack wasn’t an upgrade of the Buster Call. The Buster Call is a downgraded version of an Ancient Weapon

Pluton theory
Pluton is not a ship! it's this guy.
Tumblr media
It was created over 900 years ago, right before the void century, and still works to this day. The government really wanted it destroyed. They would have known it was the ancient weapon because
When Franky was flipping through the Pluton blueprints at Enis Lobby, Kaku and Lucci both immediately recognized it at a distance. This is important because even if it was a ship, most ships would have similar shapes and thus blueprints. But a giant mecha and a ship look nothing alike!
Plus, going with the theory that the ancient weapons are sea, sky, and land based; we already have a sea weapon with Posidon. How is a ship supposed to help on dry land?
Which means that all the hints we've been getting that Franky has been building Pluton are correct, but it's not the Sunny that is Pluton. IT'S GENERAL FRANKY!!
Tumblr media
We'll probably get confirmation of this soon, as Frankey would Definitely recognize the robot when it gets out of the scrap heap.

I was scrolling trough One Piece episodes on Crunchyroll Italy and saw a comment on like ep. 973 that said something like "Guys, what if Joyboy is Toki's father???" And now I am like... it could be.
Now, let's run off the facts that we know:
• Joyboy and Toki were both from the Void Century, about 800 years ago or more.
• Toki came to the future because she was running away from something. What that something was we don't really know, but we do know that bad shit went down in the late Void Century.
• Toki was from the Amatsuki family. We don't know Joyboy's real name, so he could be from that family as well.
• Toki really wanted to go to Wano necause it was her homeland. We know by a fact that Joyboy was connected to Wano due to the Phoneglyphs.
• Toki wasn't there when Roger unvailed the One Piece and read Joyboy's message. It may be, because if she had in fact been there, us the viewer (and characters) woukd have learned this sooner.
So, what could this mean for the story? Well, its defenetely alleins with One Piece's themes of destiny and legacies. If Toki was Joyboy's daughter, then Luffy set his past life's home country and grandkids free. This is fitting for him. And it does tie a few elements togheter.
But if Joyboy is Toki's dad... then who is her mom? Well I think it may be Nefertari D. Lili.
We don't know much about Lili either, only that she was from the same time period, had a connection with Joyboy throught the Phoneglyphs, and dissapeared.
But I wanna look at the genetic evidence.
Toki's hair. Its green, and her daughter's Hiyori hair is more blueish. Were is that blue from?
There is one character with blue haur similar to that, Vivi. And who also has blue hair and is related to her? Lili.
Mike drops.

The Piece That Does Not Fit - An Enies Lobby Theory
So one thing that didn't really strike me until recently rereading One Piece, is just how odd Enies Lobby actually is, and how literally none of the questions one might have about it is raised by the characters, or explained.
Tumblr media
Its an Island located inside of a giant hole in the ocean, where the sea just falls down in a circular waterfall withouth end.
That all on it's own is interesting, and makes it stand out drastically, but it doesn't end there.
Tumblr media
The island is also infamous for being a place where there is always daytime, and it's always sunny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there is the island itself. The island is split into two pieces, with the main body sitting precariously above the abyss, only held up by a bit of stone jutting out from the ocean.
The stone is ludicrously durable too, not only not breaking due to the sheer weight of the city on top of it despite the not exactly good foundations, but also surviving the Buster call as well.
Tumblr media
While chunks of the stone was blown up by the bombardment, for the most part the island actually held up pretty well all things considered.
All of this is very interesting stuff, but what stuck me the most on my most recent rereading, is that all of this does remind me of something, but also highlights how strange it actually is.
The unique feature of the giant hole that seemingly cannot be filled, the way the entire place defies the laws of physics, the eternally shining sun... All of this seems like something you'd find in the New World, where the laws of reailty goes to die in a corner... But not in Paradise.
It just doesn't fit.
And if there is anything we can tell by comparing it to the likes of Punk Hazard, it's safe to say, that something happened here long, long ago.
Something created this gigantic hole, something altered the very fabric of reality to make it always be daytime here, and something either made the stone here ludicrously durable, or it was like that from the start.
But wait, there's more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is also the ancient city on top of it.
Just looking at the art style of the architecture, and the coloring, it's very easy to see that this city was here before the World Government came in and added newer structures.
That could mean a whole host of things. It could be that the original city was abandoned at some point, and the marines recolonized it, and simply kept the buildings in place, because there was no reason to tear them down, but it could also be that the original people was conquered by the World Government, and their lands taken.
That however would not explain anything else of the bizarre features of the island. A simple battle and conquest cannot explain any of it. Something happened here, but it's hard to say what.
Tumblr media
It is tempting to try and connect it directly to the Void century, and the great Kingdom, but by looking at the architecture, one can tell that it's a very different style from the old capital of that lost nation.
However, this does not mean that it was not involved in that ancient conflict, and in fact, thematically speaking there is a possible connection here, and one that would make logical sense as well.
Tumblr media
Enies Lobby is thematiclaly connected to Pluton, being as the entire arc taking place on it revolved around the possible ressurection of the weapon, but it might go deeper than that.
Pluton was was made in Water Seven. And Water Seven is an island that is extremely close Enies lobby on the map.
And what was Pluton, the "Worst Battleship in History" famous for?
Tumblr media
Wiping Islands from the face of the map.
My theory, is that whoever it was that used Pluton during the war, and whoever it was that held Enies Lobby at the time, the might of the legendary battleship was leveled at it, mayhaps it's first target... And it promptly blew the entire foundation out from under it, warping the cycle of night and day, creating a massive hole that seemingly cannot be filled, and leaving a tiny sliver of the original island left.
Thus creating Enies lobby. The piece of Paradise that does not fit, where the sun always shines, and where the Ocean ends.

Not to make everything about Frobin but, I mean, I still can't believe what Oda is doing with One Piece lately...
He basically connected what Franky is researching (high-tech, robots) with what Robin is researching (history of the Ancient Kingdom) on such a deep af level, meaning that in order to achieve their own personal goals they need each other: they can't make it on their own, they need the knowledge the other one possesses in order to make progresses in their own field.
Like, even if they will never become a couple they are literally the second generation of Vegapunk and Clover, they will become colleagues and stay in touch for the rest of their lives, making the Ancient Kingdom rise from its ashes and bringing it again in their world, together.
Not to mention that right now Vegapunk is trying to find out what the power source used before and during the Void Century was and Franky is one of the only two people alive in the entire world (the other one being Iceburg) to have read the blueprints of something built around that time: Pluton (I wrote down all my ideas about this on Reddit), and Robin is the last living person from Ohara who knows how to read Poneglyphs without having to hear the "Voice of All Things" (Sukiyaki probably can too but he lacks all of the knowledge Robin has learned from the books in Ohara).
This makes them both unique and fundamental for the future of One Piece and even for someone as smart as Vegapunk.
Frobin has never been this canon my dudes.

Imagine if it turned out that a Nefertiti was one of the final villains.....
Lilli betrays Joyboy, takes the throne for herself after making herself immortal via the Op Op No Mi.  Joyboy hides the deception from Lilli on Laugh Tale. The co ordinates to it’s location hidden in places the ancient weapon Uranus can’t reach; the underwater Mermaid kingdom, Zou and a raised Wano which now houses the weapon Pluton.  Then the Sea Kings and whales waited until someone was brave enough to put all the pieces together.
