#one of those frame-tvs that looks like a piece of art

I DIY’d a fancy frame for my TV and now it can be an art centerpiece when not tv-ing! I AM OBSESSED.
I’ve been fantasizing about having a Framed TV forever, but the Samsung Framed TV costs an arm and a leg!!! And it doesn’t even come with a nice frame!!! You have to buy a nicer frame which can cost up to $500+ (on top of your $1400+ tv) for it if you don’t like the thin plastic frame it that’s built into it, can you believe???
My parents gifted me one of their extra huge 60 inch TV’s when I got my new place and it works great even if it’s from 2012 so I absolutely did not want to get rid of it for a smaller and more expensive tv just so it can have a frame ugh. So I’ve been looking at DIY tutorials but they’ve been really complicated until I found THIS ONE :
https://youtu.be/8kLqww8yzDs?t=170
And the great thing about it is is that it costs under $100 to make and it can fit over any flat screen TV. some tips tho not mentioned in the video if you’re keen to make one:
- using wood glue is fine for this, I used Gorilla wood glue.
- very important! make sure to measure and cut your trim according to your SCREEN MEASUREMENTS, not from the outside of your TV. I’ve seen a lot of tutorials that do the latter and the frame sits outside of your tv instead of framing your screen nicely so there’s just huge gaps, and you can see the entire TV including the black plastic around it. we don’t want that.
- Depending on your TV, you might have to be conscious about whether or not you will need to drill out a hole where your sensor is located for your remote to work. My TV worked completely fine despite being covered up with the frame, but it’s just something to be aware of.
- instead of having the wood block mounts in the video, I’ve also seen some ppl adhere an L-shaped piece of wood either on the sides or the top of the TV and use command strips to mount it if that’s your jam. I preferred the method in this video so I could easily remove it if I wanted.
- obviously before making the mount of your choice, make sure to measure where it should sit in the back of your frame so when you mount it onto your tv, it fits properly onto your screen.
Lastly! There’s some app services including Samsung TV where ppl get some free art to display but a lot of them requires a monthly subscription for a bigger library but if you’re like me--fuck that! Youtube is free, baby. Here’s some channels that I really like using:
- Art Deco
- Vintage Art TV
- Abstract Art TV
But literally if those aren’t to your taste you can search youtube for similar channels to find art you like. Or like the tutorial states, you can use a photo app and upload art or photos of whatever you want.
- Don’t forget to change your brightness level to be dimmer for a more realistic look on your wall.
Enjoy!!!

Last night I couldn't fall asleep so I wrote an 800 word essay about TYK as a meta-narrative. Voilà.
"I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way." – Jessica Rabbit, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
One of the things I think many fans of Tian Ya Ke like about it is that, unlike the tv drama, it is something of a satire or deconstruction of the wuxia genre. If you are familiar with the usual wuxia tropes (of which I am by no means an expert) it becomes clear how Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu are merely side-characters in what normally would be Zhang Chengling's Hero's Journey. Wen Kexing should, as the mastermind of the plot that killed Zhang Chengling's family, be the manipulative and enigmatic final boss. Zhou Zishu should be the scruffy old retired martial arts master who reluctantly takes the young hero under his wing – and then conveniently dies in order to encourage the hero to come of age. Instead of following this usual track, we are shown the scandalous underbelly of the conventional wuxia narrative – which I think Priest really digs into with Tai Sui (so go read it!!!).
As a result, TYK often reads like really good fanfiction of a novel that doesn't exist. You know the type, some author's 150k magnum opus on two side-characters that in canon have barely any depth and the fanfic author goes on to add so much new characterization and world-building that it feels like an entirely different work. The kind of fanfic that makes the source material look lacking by comparison.
But it was reading lianzi's translated chapter 15 that made me look at the narrative from a different perspective as a post-modernist piece. If you've read Hamlet you're familiar with the idea of a play within a play. But then there is another play, Rozencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, which is Hamlet from the perspective of two minor side-characters mostly taking place "off-stage". And that's really what TYK reminds me of. You know those two old muppets who sit in theatre box seats and always make snide remarks about whatever the other muppets are doing? That's where Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu are situated.
In this Chapter 15 scene they are quite literally seated on the balcony watching Cao Weining fail to pay his dinner bill while making commentary and bickering. Zhou Zishu inserts himself into the narrative by paying Cao Weining's bill, and when Cao Weining comes up to the balcony to introduce himself Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu intentionally start acting like heroic figures from fiction. As I imagine it: the camera was originally only on Cao Weining, but then the camera pans up to see the pair on the balcony and then the camera follows Cao Weining up to the balcony bringing the narrative with it. Once the camera arrives on the balcony Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu are effectively "on stage" now and have to act the part.
Thinking about this scene reminded me of many other scenes where Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu are simply standing to the side and watching the action. Two obvious examples are outside the Scorpion's brothel and Liu Qingqiao's death, but there are also other smaller scenes where Zhou Zishu alone intentionally removes himself from the frame, like when Wen Kexing and Ye Baiyi fight. I imagine the stage where the spotlight is on Liu Qingqiao as she struggles to fight for her life, while Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing are in the wings, covered by darkness, whispering to each other. They don't quite have the powers of breaking the fourth wall and become fully self- or genre-aware, but they definitely have a cynical insiders perspective on the wuxia story they have become a part of. The themes of acting and wearing masks is a common one in the whole novel, especially the differences between how people are in public vs in private. But all of this gives the novel a voyeuristic tone at times.
Zhou Zishu already chose to leave the stage of the capital city, and although he got sucked into Zhang Chengling's story he could disappear from this new stage at any moment. Wen Kexing more actively plays his role up until the bitter end. In the end, Wen Kexing is supposed to reveal his True Identity and be killed by Zhang Chengling, allowing both of them to fulfill revenge for their families. This is the ending that Wen Kexing imagined for himself, and that's the part he knew he was playing. That's why it's so touching when he asks Zhou Zishu if it's okay that he survives. If it's okay that he selfishly violates the rules of the narrative.
Then they choose to leave the stage completely. Once off the stage (in the Extras) they can act like whoever they want. The only way to live freely is to quit the main story. And acting like a good person is pretty much as close as you can get to being a good person, regardless of how your character was written.

✨Ramona Does A Stunt for Envy✨
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I’m back yall! But I’m back into my Scott Pilgrim phase. Here’s a fic I did about Ramona and Envy :3
Please note that it’s rated Mature due to suggestive themes!
You can also read it right here on tumblr! Just go under the cut :3
More Scott Pilgrim fics and art coming soon!
“Ramona! Come into my trailer before we have to start shooting this next scene. I have another stunt for you.”
Ramona rolled her eyes as she hung by her waist from the cables to the ceiling. Working on this movie had to be one of the most exhausting and stupidest things she ever had to do. It felt like an obstacle course she had to go through everyday so she could get to Todd Ingram and figure out what happened to that guy she kinda went out with one time.
What was worst of all was Envy Adams, Todd’s famous bitchy girlfriend. God, what a pain it was to work for her. She constantly asked Ramona to do “stunts” for her. “Stunts” being a code word for whatever the hell she needed her to do that day. From actually doing an intense stunt, to picking up her laundry, to feeding her pet dog, Ramona did everything Envy asked for.
But Ramona was willing to do anything to get Scott Pilgrim back.
Ramona sighed, “I’ll be right there. Can you lower me please?” A crew member gently lowered her to the ground and she caught up with Envy who was a few feet ahead of her.
No words were exchanged between them on their way to the trailer. Ramona studied her face. She was so calm yet so bold and confident. Her deep eye shadow complimented her eye shape. Her red hair flowed perfectly down her face and shoulders, framing her like the Mona Lisa. She really was hotter in person.
Soon enough, they arrived and entered Envy’s trailer. She shut the door behind them.
Envy’s trailer was as extravagant as she was. It was covered in luxury items. Ramona felt like she was in a limousine. Prada pillows were placed on high quality leather couches with Gucci tableware strewn about the side tables and sink. The entire trailer reeked of Chanel No. 5. A tiny closet was filled to the brim with luxury brands that Ramona couldn’t recognize or care about.
“What did you need me in here for?” Ramona asked.
Envy walked over to the couch and plopped herself down. She beckoned Ramona to sit next to her. She obeyed. As soon as Ramona sat down, Envy rearranged herself to be lying down, with her long legs stretching onto Ramona’s lap.
Ramona froze. It had been a while since she had gotten so close with a woman… Three years ago…? That doesn’t matter right now. Envy is happening right now. Envy propped her upper body up and pulled lip gloss out of her pocket. She dangled it in front of Ramona’s face. Her eyes widened.
“I know I have a whole makeup department to do all this work, but I am playing you after all. I need you to do my lips the way you do yours.”
“D-do your lips…?” Ramona muttered. Her mind wandered off into dangerous territory. “Get it together,” she told herself internally. She shook her head in an attempt to get her mind out of the gutter.
Ramona fumbled the lip gloss in her sweaty palms. She felt like she didn’t even have the strength to unscrew the cap. Envy was growing impatient. “Hey! Hurry up, Flowers! I don’t have all day.”
After what felt like an hour, Ramona took the wand out of the gloss. Envy opened her mouth slightly, ready for Ramona. She took a deep breath and slowly began to put the gloss all over Ramona’s lips. Her hands felt shaky, but her application was crisp. She took in the silhouette of Envy’s lips in excruciating detail.
All while, Envy looked at her with her big black eyes. Her big black beautiful eyes. Like those of a siren. That’s what she was. A siren. Luring men and women into her grasp just to crush them into pieces. That’s what she was doing to Ramona. She tried her best to avoid eye contact, but she struggled immensely. It didn’t matter where she looked, her nerves raged on. The way Envy’s chest rose and fell with each breath was addicting to watch.
Ramona was nearly done with applying lip gloss when her hands got too shaky for her own good. Her hand slipped causing a small streak of lip gloss to be marked to the corner of her mouth right outside the intended area. She let out a small gasp at her own action.
Envy made an annoyed sound and rolled her eyes in disgust. “Nice job, Flowers,” she remarked sarcastically.
“Sit up so I can fix it,” she pleaded. Envy positioned herself to be closer to Ramona’s face. Ramona’s thumb softly scraped the lip gloss off of Envy’s chin. Each light caress of her skin brought the two’s faces closer and closer. Their breaths becoming hotter and heavier by the second.
Before Ramona could even fully realize it, their lips were interlocked. Envy draped her arms around Ramona’s shoulders and Ramona’s hands found their way to Envy’s sides. Ramona instinctively held onto her tightly and tried her best to pull her in due to the limited space. Soon, she wrapped her arms around her entire body, fully embracing every part of Envy Adams.
Envy got up on her knees without parting from Ramona’s lips. She began to run her fingers through Ramona’s short and colorful hair and pushed her face into hers as much as humanly possible.
It was hot.
It was messy.
There were…
Sparks.
Ramona’s heart dropped when she felt them. She quickly pushed Envy off of her as she started to hyperventilate. Envy looked at her with an annoyed yet mischievous grin. She was breathing heavily as well.
“You ruined my lip gloss…” Envy sighed out.
“I can’t…” Ramona said in between breaths.
“Why’d you stop, baby?”
“Envy, I can’t-“ Ramona repeated. She was stopped by Envy’s index finger being pushed against her lips.
“I know you’re looking for Scott.”
Ramona tensed at the comment. “W-what are you-“
“I’m not stupid. Roxie told Lucas Lee who told Todd who told me all about your little plan to find out who kidnapped Scott. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but it wasn’t me or Todd. We could care less about that loser.”
Ramona could only stare at her. Great. She still hasn’t found a solid lead on Scott’s disappearance and she has a sloppy make out session with his ex-girlfriend. Not only did they make out, but she began to feel some way about her. She felt the guilt spread all over her body. Ramona groaned and buried her head in her hands.
“No… no…” Ramona moaned out. She resisted the urge to cry.
Envy giggled at the sight. “Don’t worry. I make a lot of girls realize something about themselves,” She sighed as she pushed some hair out of Ramona’s sweaty face.
Ramona quickly got up and walked towards the door. “I have to go…” Ramona squeaked out as she put her hand on the doorknob. Somehow, Envy caught up to her. She slammed her hand next to Ramona’s face into the metal walls of the trailer. The sound made Ramona jump.
With one arm extended next to Ramona’s face and Envy standing tall and confident in front of her, Ramona felt herself getting smaller. Her knees buckled slightly as she looked into Envy’s eyes. “Before you go…” Envy got slowly and slowly closer to Ramona’s face. Her breath felt hot and heavy as she breathed down Ramona’s neck.
“If Scott ever breaks your heart, you can always come running back to me, sweetheart.”
Ramona felt herself shaking. Envy planted a small kiss on her cheek. Her unoccupied hand landing on Ramona’s side. Ramona’s heart skipped a beat and she gasped. Envy giggled at the sight.
All of a sudden, Ramona felt herself being pushed out of the door. She lost her balance and landed on her forearm. She whipped her head around to see a smiling Envy closing the door on her.
Young Neil was waiting outside in his golf cart. He seemed unaffected by Ramona’s fall. “Oh hey Ramona. Didn’t see you down there,” He commented.
Ramona said nothing as she climbed into the golf cart. Young Neil began to drive. “So. Did you help Envy out with the stunt she needed?”
“I guess you could say that,” Ramona answered solemnly.
Ramona stared at Envy’s trailer as it shrank and shrank into the distance. The place that changed her life.

pls talk about the shelf
i was desperately hoping someone would ask me to rant abt it akehdjshd i'm kissing you sweetly on the forehead anon
okay so if anyone sees this out of context: i have a shelf in my bookcase dedicated to hannibal. yes it's kind of like a weird little shrine but leave me alone.
be warned this is going get LONG.
so, it has the obvious: the hannibal books, the tv show box set, the tv show's cookbook, my fancy copies of the divine comedy (they're hardcover with gorgeous sleeves that have art printed on them to match each book), and i also have the iliad and the odissey in there in a single big book that i bought on a whim when out once and then after buying it i found out it also had the original greek alongside the italian translation and i lost my mind. i've never felt such pure joy and i can't even read greek. yet.
as for decorations, as of right now there's a piece of driftwood that is kinda shaped like an L so it stands up on its own and it also kinda resembles an antler.
there's this fuckin box, i don't even remember how i got it, but it's made of bones. it's shaped kinda like a stereotypical treasure chest but it's literally made of bones. the inside is lined with red velvet.
i'm not sure what else to decorate with? i've put in a seashell but it can't even be seen because the shelf has glass doors but the shell is covered by the frame (might move everything to another shelf where the frame is not in the way tbh just so i can decorate with tiny things at the front).
i just moved this whole thing from my other bookcase (i just got this new one today because i have too many books and in my first bookcase the shelves are literally bending with the weight of the books piled up on them) and when it was there i also had a teacup in there along with a lighbox that says "bone saw time! 🖤" but this new shelf feels very elegant and there's also not enough space for the lightbox. i also had a bust of dionysus there but i'm going to move it to my dionysus altar.
i've got an old scalpel somewhere too and i'll try to find a visible spot to put it. i also have 3 tiny japanese plates that were all given to me as gifts and some souvenirs from japan from a friend too but idk if i wanna put japanese stuff in there. like it's fitting but at the same time idk if it's disrespectful or not.
if i had money and more space i'd make this whole thing bigger and get like. a little frame with fly fishing lures like the ones will made in the show and maybe something like some ethically sourced taxidermy. a snake skeleton and a mongoose skull would be really cool. maybe i could print out a little something with lures instead of buying real ones and like. a fake death's head hawkmoth taxidermy. i'd need some of those shadowbox frames and i'd make it so the pictures stand out a bit from the back so it looks like they have shadows. bc like i'm fairly certain real death's head hawkmoths cannot be ethically sourced at this point in time because ever since silence of the lambs came out people have started going insane over them.
i think my grandpa has this framed thing somewhere with sailing knots made with actual ropes in it rather than just pictures. haven't seen it in ages so i'm not sure anymore if it was my grandpa's or someone else's. probably my grandpa since he was in the marines when military service was mandatory in italy but idk maybe i saw it somewhere else. i could print out a small picture with various illustrations of sailing knots.
i also have these cards that my aunt gave me at one point that have prints of a lot of famous paintings with descriptions in the back and i THINK one was the primavera. it was either that or the birth of venus i'll have to check but either way there's at least one botticelli in there. i don't like botticelli much tho so 🤷
i plan at some point to also get physical copies of all the movies but idk when that'll be since i've found a different box set for the tv show with gorgeous covers that i plan to buy as well. also of the ones i currently own i think one of the dvds stopped working bc it got scratched while inside my pc because i was pausing and rewinding/forwarding too much. we'll see i guess.
now for the rest of the books. i have a medical book in there called the abc of the human body. i think the title is kind of hilarious for a hannibal shelf. i just found out today while moving books back and forth from one bookshelf to the other that i actually have two copies of this book and one of them was owned by a doctor that died i think like 15 to 20 years ago. i have a few other medical books that said doctor also owned on the shelf above. he also owned the scalpel i mentioned before.
there's the book skulls by simon winchester, which is a collection of pictures of skulls from one of the biggest skull collections in the world, along with a few inserts on biology if i remember correctly? i originally bought it for art references and i LOVE the cover so i made sure it was facing forward in the shelf.
there's the resurrectionist, which is a sci-fi/fantasy book kind of in a frankenstein-esque vein where the main character is this made up doctor who manages to make some mythological creatures through surgery & digging up dead bodies and i won't spoil it any further. the second half of the book is a whole bunch of medical/biology style illustrations of said creatures, their skeletons, their muscles, how certain parts of their bodies would function (for example i believe it goes into explaining the lungs for both mermaids and harpies). i don't think it quite fits thematically with hannibal but i think it's got The Vibe so i put it in there.
there's a book on saint lucy, who is the patron saint of sight. i have it because i was born with my skull being asymmetrical and the doctors immediately told my family it would likely cause problems with my eyes, and so instead of, you know, starting to take me to eye doctors from a young age, they swore me to saint lucy and left it at that. i'm likely going to go blind on my left eye at some point in my life btw lmao thanks st lucy <3 i do like her though. i like her iconography a lot, she's always portrayed as holding a plate with her eyes on it.
there's damien by hermann hesse, which is one of my all time favourite books. it's written in first person and it starts with emil sinclair's childhood, explaining that he sees the world in a very black and white way, and does so very literally because he speaks of the world of light and the world of darkness, which are kind of meant as good and evil. but then something happens to him that starts blurring the clear line he thought was between the two, which sends him into a moral panic until he meets max demian, who starts to make him see that there's more to both sides. the story as he grows up follows his "corruption" into someone who is neither good nor evil. it has a lot of implied homoeroticism, as it was written i think either in the 20s or the late 1800s so it couldn't be explicit but it is very much there and is expressed mostly through demian's mother. there's also a weird cult thing going on and the ending is a bit ??? and honestly i need to read it again because for such a short book SO much happens that i'm having a hard time summarising it accurately.
the only other books i remember being there rn (it's 1am i'm not turning the lights on again) are dracula, because cannibal/vampire count with a big castle, the butchering art, and les fleurs du mal, plus two other books written in french that i haven’t read yet because my french isn't the best, whose titles i don't remember rn, and one in italian that i've found at a used books stall once but i believe it's from a local author and i've never seen it in a bookstore nor online so there's definitely no english translation of it. i still haven't read this one either and i don't even remember what it's about, it might be a poetry book? not quite sure. but yeah these few ones i haven’t read are there like. on trial. if i read them and find them fitting they'll stay otherwise they go to another shelf. i also haven’t read les fleurs du mal nor the butchering art yet, so the same applies to them. i think that's all of them? i plan to put my art history books and regular history books on the shelf above as well next to the medical books to kind of carry the theme over lol.
i would like to maybe someday get some of the books that we've glimpsed from the bookshelves on the show but this is it for now!
anyway. tysm for asking me about it dear anon. you said but a few words yet they meant the world to me <3

— You had just come home from running errands, changing from your trainers to your comfy fluffy slippers. As you enter your living room, you see Yuta sitting at the dining table, seemingly immersed in what looks like the drawing sessions he liked to do every once in a while when he had free time.
As his back faces you, you try your best to startle him. You tiptoe towards him as quietly as possible but halt when you hear the following words.
"Nice try, baby."
"Damn it", you mutter to yourself, with a pout on your face.
You shuffle your feet across the hardwood floor until you reach him. You bend down a little, wrap your arms around him, and rest your chin on his shoulder. "Whatcha drawing, babe?"
"Hm, not really sure yet…."
The sheet of paper currently in front of him is blank. His fingers play around with the pencil he's gripping as he struggles with what to draw.
You continue to rest your chin on his shoulders as your eyes scan across the table.
Different coloured pens and pencils are next to him, along with multiple papers sprawled out in front of him; some are entirely blank, and some are filled with what seems like unfinished drawings your boyfriend tried to put on paper from his artistic brain. You're always amazed at how talented your boyfriend is in different fields.
"What about something you've been enjoying lately, like a movie?"
"That's not a bad idea, actually…." Yuta begins soothing circles on your arms as he thinks of an idea. "Spiderman? I've enjoyed watching that lately, so I guess I'll try drawing him."
You nod your head several times. "That sounds great! Just use your imagination like you always do. Interpret Spiderman in your own way?"
Yuta clasps one of your hands and places a kiss on it before he starts his drawing. A little gesture he likes to do as a way to say thank you.
Tumblr media
While Yuta is occupied with his drawing, you start to work on an assignment, sitting opposite your boyfriend.
You decided to give your eyes a little break away from your laptop screen, and so you turn your attention to your boyfriend sitting in front of you as you lower your laptop screen down.
You watch him focus intently on his drawing, switching between his pencil and eraser as he attempts to perfect a specific area of his art.
Seeing Yuta add a few flowers and birds across the page reminds you of the time around the start of your relationship he showed you some of his artwork. It made you curious and question why he added those elements to all of his art. You remember him saying that he wasn't really sure why, but the fact that it brings a feeling of being free and reminds him of dreams.
You absolutely love and admire his artwork, and you always thought to yourself, "His artistic skills are amazing. Art exhibition worthy, and I'd definitely get his artwork tattooed on me somewhere too."
You actually did have a piece of his art hung up next to your TV on the wall. You admired it for a few seconds before turning your attention back to your assignment.
Tumblr media
"Baby, look!" Yuta nudges your foot underneath the table to get your attention.
"Hm?" eyes still concentrated on the document as you finish typing up a few words before looking up at your boyfriend holding up his finished drawing.
"I drew Mark", Yuta grins.
"That looks nothing like Mar-" You pause for a few seconds. "Ohhh", bursting into laughter when you clock on what Yuta meant.
"Woah", eyes widen as you gaze at the drawing, amazed at what your boyfriend can do in a little amount of time.
You might frame this one up on your wall too.

Bonkposting
Tumblr media
I was randomly re-watching BONKERS this week. Coincidentally, that show turned 30 this year... Now that's *bonkers*!
For the uninitiated, it's a Disney TV Animation-made series that had the usual 65-episode run. It was a WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT-inspired show made at a time when Roger Rabbit's future was up in the air, and this series - inspired by ROGER RABBIT'S core premise of cartoon characters living in our world and being the actors of their animated pictures - just so happened to be in development. Seemed to be the perfect "that'll do" situation! Its production history, so complicated it scrambles my brain, but fascinatingly so, like any troubled production. The entire show, including an episode that was held from TV for years due to depictions of bombings (in the wake of the Oklahoma City bombing and 9/11), is available to view on Disney+.
The show itself is every bit as puzzling as its production history, no matter which batch of episodes it is or who animated on them. It feels like it's a weird outsider-artist's attempt at a wacky, spontaneous Tex Avery-inspired cartoon, but it frequently misses the rhythm even though it's earnestly trying with everything it has got... That is all juxtaposed with this very high-grade art direction and animation (for a 1993-era animated TV series, that is), particularly the episodes made at Disney TV Animation Japan. It's like I'm watching some badass '80s anime take on L.A., but with these silly-looking 'toons. A hell of a contrast! But the show's weird attempts at zany humor are all the more questionable because this is a DISNEY SHOW, you would think they could pull this off. I know it's popular opinion that Disney animation, all throughout history, was never "funny"... Though I beg to differ. Disney TVA, from my perspective, tended to be more "fun adventure" than wacky comedy. Not in the wheelhouse of, say, ANIMANIACS or REN & STIMPY. Bonkers D. Bobcat himself actually started appearing on one of Disney's attempts at a wacky show, RAW TOONAGE, a year earlier. There was also this show called THE SCHNOOKUMS & MEAT FUNNY CARTOON SHOW, which fits this bill, too. The respective executions of these shows apparently left a bit to be desired.
I first saw BONKERS when its re-runs aired on Toon Disney, a long-defunct channel, in the late '90s and early '00s. That was the way I, a 1992 baby, could see all of those early-era Disney TVA cartoons and many of the ones that were part of the legendary syndicated "Disney Afternoon" block. I saw almost all of 'em, from DUCKTALES to TALESPIN to TIMON & PUMBAA. That was a brief period of time though, when my grandmother had a cable package that included Toon Disney. Later on, she didn't, and neither did I at my house... So I went a good many years without seeing those shows again, the only one I had pieces of on VHS was NEW ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH.
I'll tell you what *weirdly* filled the void for me...
SONIC ADVENTURE.
Tumblr media
Yeah, you heard that right... SONIC ADVENTURE. And by that, I mean the original version released for the Sega Dreamcast in North America in 1999, which I got sometime in - I wanna say - spring 2000? Easter present, maybe?
Now, my grandmother still had Toon Disney when I had SONIC ADVENTURE... Because at the time, Toon Disney was airing... ADVENTURES OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG! That's right, the DiC cartoon from 1993. The wacky one. I sometimes caught it in passing, but I really wanted to see it now that I was playing SONIC ADVENTURE religiously circa mid 2000... But it was never on when I was over there, I had only caught a commercial or two. I remember catching one during an airing of BONKERS, and it was like "The SONIC show... Whoooooaaa." My 7 1/2-year old brain on a high of some sorts, 'cuz that's just how my weird-ass autie brain works you get the gist?
Anyways, when I no longer could watch Toon Disney, I had SONIC ADVENTURE...
Here are the weird connections I made between SONIC ADVENTURE and Disney TV Animation's output circa 1987-1995:
Anthro animals, check. Goofy villain, check. Sonic's design channels Felix the Cat and early Mickey, very much Western "funny animal" in spirit. Coincidentally, FELIX THE CAT: THE MOVIE was airing on Disney Channel and Toon Disney around this time, I remember seeing commercials for it at the time... And remembered seeing scenes of him running around some palm trees, a jungle-like setting... and I thought it looked kinda Sonic-y and kinda cool. Moving on: Tails' bi-plane, the "Tornado". TALESPIN vibes. Has two tails, 'tis his nickname... What else, Station Square, a city with both humans and cartoon animals, reminding me of not only BONKERS, but also Duckberg. The "At Dawn" section of the "Speed Highway" level in particular had those vibes, for me... And then you have the Mystic Ruins, the spacious jungle hub world with the temple. Disney had a couple of "jungle" shows at the time, outside of the JUNGLE BOOK-inspired TALESPIN, you also had JUNGLE CUBS (basically MUPPET BABIES by way of JUNGLE BOOK), MARSUPILAMI (a very bizarre adaptation of the Franco-Belgian comic of the same name), and the aforementioned TIMON & PUMBAA spin-off.
So yeah, SONIC ADVENTURE and certain Disney TV Animation shows were kinda "linked" in my brain circa 2000-ish. It's a thing my brain does, it makes these weird connections or associations with disparate media. Like, I'll be hyperfixating on three or four separate things in a period of time (say, September-November 2005)... And because of that, they're all linked in my head. I'll think of one of those things, and I'll think of the three, if that makes sense.
In fall 2002, for my birthday, I received a DK book called DISNEY: THE ULTIMATE VISUAL GUIDE. It had a two-page spread dedicated to the DTVA stuff, and lo and behold, BONKERS was on there... and it all came back... And for whatever reason, I built up BONKERS in my head as this amazingly funny thing. It was even in the name, and at the time, I was developing a cartoony slapsticky idea of my own... Which totally morphed and mutated over two decades into the behemoth beast that it is now... Partially thanks to BONKERS, a show that's considered one of the worst of the Disney Afternoon and that whole era of DTVA... I simply had to see this show again, and all the other Disney TV Animation cartoons that weren't being shown on any other channel.
And I eventually caught a few of the Bonks on Toon Disney somewhere's else in mid-2003, and remember thinking "Yeah, it's as cool as I thought!" But then many, many moons later - with much more knowledge under my belt, a lot more context, a lot more animation history, etc. - I gave it a proper revisit. This was probably right around the time it came to Disney+, and after hearing other outlets either fairly criticize or outright trash the show. I mean, ANIMANIACS - probably fueled by Steven Spielberg's beef with Disney/Eisner at time, which affected ROGER RABBIT plans going forward - was roasting BONKERS. And what I saw was a show that was certainly a mess... I mean, when your plug is pulled halfway through production and your show is straight-up rebooted w/ an all-new supporting cast and main character redesign- it's a miracle the show even got made, finished, and was somewhat watchable. I have a soft spot for it, really. There's a kernel of a really cool, wacky, ROGER RABBIT-lite there... and under different circumstances, it could've really stuck the landing... But it meant a little something to me, and that's all that matters.

This mansion is massive, map needed!
Next in my sims 4 rotations will be the Seconds who have moved in with James Ryan, Alexander's fiance. I found a beautiful build on the gallery and wanted to share it with my minimal renovations to give you a sense of the layout. Original Mansion from Gallery ID: eriks112 “The Gold Lake Manor”
Tumblr media
I feel in love with the roofing because I cannot do roofing at all at all. Do not be deterred by gallery builds with night photos, they can be great! I haven’t tampered with the outside except to get rid of the giant maze because I’m hoping for a backyard wedding for Alexander and James.
Tumblr media
Inside I have done light refurbishing. Which to me means leaving all the walls where they are. With moving in some of my sims I’ve made changes to things like wallpaper, flooring, plant décor etc. Come on my tour since it took me three days of intermittent playing to be happy with it 🤣
Tumblr media
Here is the entryway. I love how the builder layered curtains throughout the space. I changed which paintings and plants there are to fit the decor James and Alexander like. Turning right you get access to the lounge which again, I didn't do much with, because when it looks this great why change it?
Tumblr media
The lounge also has it's own full bar. Again these are the beautiful details that the gallery sytem fails to show properly. I changed out one of the exercise machines in the adjacent home gym for a punching bag. What happens if you turn left back at the entryway?
Tumblr media
You reach the wonderful grand dining room. Again I changed just the wall art. Some pieces from the small flat have made the cut! The kitchen has a cute breakfast bar and plenty of decor. A small door outside leads to a garden. Not sure if it'll be used but Keira is studying biology.
Tumblr media
This library might just be my favourite room, if only Ophelia hadn't died here. The builder did an incredible job, I love all the bookcases! Would happily spend hours here myself. Back to the entryway and next we're headed up the stairs to the right, above the lounge area.
Tumblr media
A small, bright landing leads to where James and Alexander are currently staying. They have their own mini lounge and a gorgeous view from a small balcony.
Tumblr media
In their office and bedroom I kept the original colour scheme but again changed the decor to their style. Everything in the bedroom apart from the curtains was put there by me, but I was heavily influenced by the original layout in the build. Are those small gas lamps indoors? Yes, I regret nothing
Tumblr media
Back down to the entryway and up the stairs to the left. Here is another bright landing. Again the builder did such a good job with the space, I'm in awe. Later I'll show through those brown doors but first let's turn to the small white door and check out Keira's room.
Tumblr media
In her room I redid everything (wallpaper included) to again reflect her style. As you can see she has loads of family photos as well as several things showing her geek-ness. Her mum gave Keira her old easel when she moved out and she likes to paint from time to time.
Tumblr media
Through those brown double doors is the guest corridor. Joey's space shows off his industrial techie style. He also has a frame that rotates through pictures of ladies he's woohoo'd because the aspiration counter resets and I don't want to lose track. Bright landing and up the final flight of stairs
Tumblr media
There is a TV room up on the third floor but the main space is empty. I took out the furniture and am planning on moving James and Alexander up here after their wedding. The view again is amazing, as is the small office I'm leaving untouched for now. Big thanks to eriks112 on building all this!

Chapter 12: A Good Man
🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔 🌕
Toshinori is a good man
🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔 🌕
Masterlist
Toshinori was a good man. He wasn't a perfect individual, but he was a good man. He had a moral code and knew right from wrong. He had a desire to be a bright light, a symbol for society to look to. Though selfish desires would sometimes take his attention more than the moral desires. Toshinori knew it was wrong to smother and coddle the two children. That coddling Daniel so much he couldn’t fend for himself was wrong and abusive. But he couldn’t help it. Couldn’t help wanting to protect them. Even if it was wrong.
Toshinori loved Izuku, YN, and Daniel like they were his own children. He felt that it was his duty to find his missing kids, and bring them home. To find YN, and let her know that weren’t angry that she left. Find Daniel, tell him that he was sorry. Tell both of them that he was sorry. That he was willing to be better for them.
So before he could let his arch enemy take the two, he realized that he had to learn more about the two. Helping him find the two. So he could prove to them that he was ready to be a real mentor figure, a guardian.
When he entered YN’s room, it was not what he expected. He thought the sullen looking problem child would have grunge posters, a dirty room, torn up clothes and what not. Imagine his surprise when he saw colourful mini lantern lights strung over the walls. A math book along with several romance and horror storybooks. Her bedspread was a mix of several pillows and a giant comforter. Something that he’s sure would look inviting after a long day. There was a fluffy rug that cushioned his feet. The curtains were dark and cut out all light. On her bookshelf there was a collection of old murder mystery and comedy movies. When he popped one into the small tv player, he felt a stronger connection than before with her. Laughing at the cheesy twists and overacting.
YN in his mind, becoming an entirely different person. She was more than just a quirkless victim. She felt like a daughter to him.
Toshinori never understood why he never went into Daniel’s room before. Of course Inko was there. Holding Daniel’s favorite pillow. This room, like the other, was a window into someone that Toshinori never actually knew. For some reason he thought Daniel would have soft light wall colors and some doodles on the wall. But the walls were an earthy dark blue. His blankets were patterned with prints of old paintings. There were canvases of unfinished pieces of art littered around the desk and bed. Notes and papers of unconnected thoughts all tucked away in a drawer. He spotted a framed photo of what he assumed were Daniel’s parents. Hidden under his pillows. When he saw the ceiling, it was a mix of a starry night sky but had handprints all over. In various colors. Touching his own hand to the print, Toshinori felt a connection to the boy.
It was as sudden and quick as a lightswitch. Daniel also had changed. He wasn’t just a boy struggling with his disability. Daniel wasn’t struggling, that's just how he was. Daniel saw the world in colors and was just frustrated that no one could understand those colors. Daniel wasn’t an emotionally compromised person with a violent quirk, he was a boy who wanted to be happy and understood.
That day, Toshinori finally felt the wall that had been preventing him from truly understanding these two was finally broken down. And had he been listening to his morality, Toshinori would have known not to pursue them. To let them go if he did love them.
But his selfish side won that fight. With this new understanding and love came an ugly obsession with the two teens. A protective instinct to hold and protect them. Whilst YN might be strong, agile, and smart; she was too emotional and easy to provoke. Daniel was not safe out there either; his frustrations about people not understanding his colors. But Toshinori understood now.
He would keep his children safe. Izuku, Daniel, and YN. Protect them from the devil that craved them.
“I'll bring you two home. Everything will be okay. Because I am here.”

Watching educational videos about film making for 3 days in a row has resulted in my watching a tv series and occasionally going "oh so they're using the ZOOM here to emphasize the emotions :oooo" or "ah they're filming the characters from a low angle - normally it emphasizes them being powerful but here it just means they're looking at downhill".
Like. Yes. Exactly why I am watching these videos. But I would also appreciate it if my brain would remember these when I am planning MY videos or video projects for school! But for some reason I don't remember even anything they told us at school. I only remember the stuff about technology, not the actual creative process or mood different angles or lighting and stuff can bring into the video.
I think I also need to focus more in the whole concept of this... I think it's "Freytag's pyramid" in English. In Finnish it's known as "the curve of drama". Basically it's just the main frames of a plot and how a plot of any story or media should go in order for the idea to be interesting for the viewer. And I have such hard time grabbing on this concept. I cannot really compare this to anything I have seen, I can't see where's the complication or climax or anything in a work. I feel like I get excited by things that are not meant to be those to get excited over. I feel that I enjoy more of plots that are complex and don't follow this in the exact manner, also plots that are difficult to understand and need you to rewatch the movie at least 2-3 times before it opens to you fully.
I can't review my own writing or videos and compare it to this pyramid, I don't think I have any of the elements there. It's either rollercoaster or a straight line. And I don't know how to even add those? Mostly because: I often don't even want to. It's cliché to always have a plot have this same frame, it's boring to me. But maybe that is why people have a hard time grabbing on my creations cos they are bizarre and might not make sense for others than me, or maybe they feel like they lack something because I have my own way of writing my stories. Maybe one of my newest might slightly follow this pyramid, I'm not sure, but it definitely was not intentional if so. It just happened on its own.
This is, also, a problem of someone who is self-learnt. Maybe this Freytag's pyramid is kinda similar to musicians who make music but have never studied music and don't know the music theory, but just do what they like and for some people it slaps and it's what matters. Kinda feeling this with my drawings because despite being to art school as a hobby as a kid, and having art classes in regular school, I don't remember ever actually studying arts and drawing. It hit me just last or previous year that wait, you can actually study arts and drawing. It was such uncanny thought that had never crossed my mind before??? I just learnt to draw on my own, using my own methord, making sketches in ways I came up with cos I didn't know about anything else. I still don't draw human heads with circles and lines. I find it confusing. My comic book characters start with shapes only to make it easier to see the size of the finished piece so I know it fits the paper. My photorealism starts with me just drawing the outlines without making any helping lines apart from the grid. I just find the regular way of drawing humans, difficult. I did try one way to do that a while back but nothing really came from it. I still don't know how to use that in drawing and just do that how I used to do with my art.
So in a way when we learn about all this at school, I kinda have these... mixed feelings over what we are taught. We are taught about technical stuff, but I'm someone who likes to break the norms. I like to add weird stuff, add easter eggs, do things that feel obvious to me but maybe not for the viewer. There was once scene in a group video where the camera shakes a lot, and teacher mentioned about it that it didn't look that good, so we pointed out it was on purpose because the person in the video talks about challenges in the studies. Handling the camera is one of the challenges and we decided it fits it well cos it just shows the challenged on the video, just not in the hands of the person who was talking. Altho the teacher didn't say it's bad, but that it's understandable and an artistic choice. So things like these, I like doing stuff like this and I think they are often considered unprofessional or bad or plain unskilled, when I have made a conscious choice to do something that looks very unskilled even when I'd have the skill to either make it invisible (such as cut the shaky camera bits when editing a video) or to not do it in the first place (such as drawing straight lines without the line looking shaky, but I just happen to like the shaky-looking lines that give a more relaxed mood). But I can understand that it can be difficult to sometimes tell apart it when someone's just unprofessional and/untalented (or just in need of more practice), and when something was an artistic, conscious choice. And the latter definitely usually has a smaller audience, but often a very loyal audience. I think Tim Burton is a good example here, since I also am a fan of his works but I also know he has quite a lot of haters, too. And for what? No idea.

If you're looking to create a bedroom that exudes luxury and charm, read on to discover the allure of sleigh beds and why they deserve a place in your home.
A Glimpse into History
Sleigh beds have a rich and fascinating history that dates back to the early 19th century. Their distinctive design, characterized by gracefully curved headboards and footboards, was inspired by the shape of a horse-drawn sleigh. The concept of the sleigh bed originated in France and quickly gained popularity throughout Europe and the United States.
During the Victorian era, sleigh beds became a symbol of opulence and luxury, with intricately carved wood and ornate details adorning their frames. Over time, this classic design has evolved to suit modern tastes while retaining its timeless appeal.
The Allure of Sleigh Bed Design
One of the standout features of a sleigh bed is its elegant and curved silhouette. This design creates a focal point in the bedroom, making it a perfect choice for those who want to add a touch of sophistication to their decor. The curved headboard and footboard offer a sense of coziness and security, enveloping you in comfort as you sleep or relax in your bedroom.
Sleigh beds are available in a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and upholstered options. This versatility ensures that you can find a sleigh bed that perfectly complements your existing decor and personal style. Whether you prefer a rustic wooden sleigh bed or a sleek, modern upholstered design, there's a sleigh bed for every taste.
The Comfort Factor
Beyond their captivating aesthetics, sleigh beds are renowned for their comfort. The curved headboard provides excellent support for those who enjoy reading or watching TV in bed. You can comfortably lean back against the headboard, making it an ideal choice for those who value relaxation and downtime in their bedroom.
Sleigh beds also offer a generous amount of under-bed storage space, making them practical in addition to being stylish. You can use this space to store extra bedding, clothing, or any items you'd like to keep neatly tucked away, helping you maintain a clutter-free bedroom.
Sleigh Beds in Different Styles
Sleigh beds come in a range of styles to suit various preferences. Here are a few popular options:
Traditional Sleigh Beds
Traditional sleigh beds maintain the classic curved design that defines this style. They often feature intricate woodwork and craftsmanship, making them a true work of art in your bedroom.
Modern Sleigh Beds
For those with a more contemporary taste, modern sleigh beds offer sleek and clean lines. They may incorporate metal or upholstered elements, creating a perfect blend of classic and modern aesthetics.
Upholstered Sleigh Beds
Upholstered sleigh beds provide a plush and luxurious feel with padded headboards and footboards. They offer a soft and inviting look, making them an excellent choice for a cozy bedroom.
Rustic Sleigh Beds
Rustic sleigh beds often feature natural wood finishes, giving your bedroom a warm and welcoming ambiance. They are ideal for those who appreciate a more earthy and organic style.
Maintenance and Care
To ensure that your sleigh bed maintains its beauty and functionality, regular maintenance is essential. Here are some tips for caring for your sleigh bed:
Dust Regularly: Dust your sleigh bed frame with a soft, dry cloth to prevent a buildup of dirt and grime.
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Position your sleigh bed away from direct sunlight to prevent fading of wood or fabric.
Use Appropriate Cleaners: Depending on the material of your sleigh bed, use suitable cleaners to keep it looking its best.
Check for Loose Fasteners: Periodically inspect the bed frame for loose screws or fasteners and tighten them as needed.
By following these simple care instructions, you can ensure that your sleigh bed remains a stunning centerpiece in your bedroom for years to come.
Conclusion
Sleigh beds are more than just a piece of furniture; they are a statement of elegance and comfort. Their rich history, versatile designs, and inherent charm make them an excellent choice for anyone looking to enhance their bedroom decor. Whether you prefer the classic appeal of traditional sleigh beds or the contemporary style of modern designs, there's a sleigh bed that can truly transform your bedroom into a sanctuary of luxury.
If you're ready to elevate your bedroom decor with the timeless beauty of a sleigh bed, explore the various options available and choose the one that speaks to your personal style. It's not just a bed; it's an investment in the aesthetics and comfort of your home.

Strolling through korba, a vibrant red grabbed my attention, it read Cairo Design Week. The emotions I feel when I see a movement turned into organized routing of talent and vocation are always very mixed. On the one hand I see the long lasting effect of a community of likeminded individuals being brought together, and on the other hand I see the gruesome hand of capitalism fingering and exploiting every inch of such talents for the sake of material.
My excitement suddenly plummeted after remembering the price of the ticket for an earlier event, which was 2k+ EGP (A tad short of 100$) but as a creative who feels strongly against monetizing art, I never made much from my photography and I have never "sold" any of my photographs.
I resist feeling negatively towards something that I cannot have because of money. I keep reminding myself that art and design are as vital to a people's wellbeing as biology and medicine.
Fast forward to a couple of days later, I met a friend who mentioned seeing the billboards and signs, and anticipated that its a fashion related event. I found out later through a reel that its everything design! Furniture, painting, sculpting, fashion, you name it!
I am thirsty for learning and inspiration, yet I find it reallyhard to stick to learning a skill or practicing it for an extended period. Sketching and designing have always felt like an embedded interest in my soul. Never had the true courage to show my real colors though. Not even to myself.
Today I visited every node of the CDW except for 2, both of which are fashion realted. It is something that I am yet to taste but not now. I was really interested in furniture design. Designing for people, for an experience, for an eternal moment of feeling safe, comforted and genuinely content.
One of the rather prominent places on the map is Cairo Design Center that's been standing since the early 90's as far as I know. I entered through the glass window, admiring the articulate typography and innate setup of the place that makes you feel timeless and in the presence of a very nurturing spirit. I glimpsed the furniture, but the posters were what really caught my attentions.
Is'haaq (Isaac) Azmy, RIP, was, from what I could tell, one of the most loving individuals towards his country. Between founding an arts lighthouse and internationally acclaimed furniture pieces, Azmy toured the world as an ambassador for the true Egyptian heritage through his work. My soul was ecstatic! I was interrupted by the entrance of a man who looked passionate but a bit short-tempered. He welcomed my in french and asked whether I came for CDW or a passer-by. I told him my intentions and we got the talk going for nearly an hour, by the time I was about to leave the shop, he turned my sight to the TV by the door, that was staged on an original piece of a beautifully cured and finished acasia wood cookie.
I took a look at the film that was playing while listening to Magued (who I later came to find out is the owner's son, who feels has been handed the baton to keep on watering the seeds of his late father's work)
M- Have given the gallery downstairs a look?
H- I wasn't aware that ....
M- Go have a look.
H- Don't mind if I do
Paintings, installations and plans. So much to grasp. And the best part is: I was all on my own. Just letting those colors tell me what they are and what they want me to feel. The frames guided me to a precious quote, one that I know I will hold on to dearly:
Translation is at the end.
I knew at that point that my spirit needed to settle in this place for some time. I went back up to ask Magued about their plans for the design week ..
"We're setting up a space infront of the showroom, there will be a sketching and painting circle, bring your sketchbook and colours between 7 and 10pm and come join"
He really didn't need to say more. I shuffled my day's plan around and ran a few errands, I collected the tools from my place and was there at around 8pm.
I had my sketchbook under one arm and my messenger bag on the other shoulder. I could smell beauty and authenticity in the air. I am not sure what kind of sorcery helped CDW's organizers to have this vibe so prominent in Korba, but I love it.
I am walking in Baghdad street that was named after an Arab capital, enjoying the sight of buildings that were designed by the brits and built by Egyptians. Next to a french bakery and a swiss restaurant. Across the street was a Canadian coffee place accommodating citizens from 3-4 countries at least. Such diversity, such humanity, such is the picture I always drew of Cairo in my head. A place for everyone to be truly alive.
I am approaching the showroom ... but wait, I gawked, There's nobody there! ..
Scheiße.
Did I hear something wrong?
Was I mistaken?
Am I that late? He said 7-10. I kept on walking till I entered the showroom and saw Magued from behind, he sensed my footsteps and turned around with such a bright smile and squinting eyes while saying "آدي اول فنان جه عشان يرسم اهو" .. I wanted to correct him, simply because I realized that there's a mother and her daughter waiting to be joined in the painting circle BUT they were hiding inside because they were too shy to sit outside alone on the sidewalk.
So wait, are you waiting for ME to encourage you? I feel really uncomfortable sharing my experiments with someone, let alone doing it on the street! I need someone to encourage me , lady!
Luckily there was no turning back, I went outside, sat down and took out my graphite set, the two ladies sat to my left and we exchanged tools and were supposed to start.
I froze, was too self councious, tried to distract myself and act busy while playing with my phone. Magued came and went with the passerbys, people stopped to look at the sketches and left among finding them empty. Yustina and her mom were quarrelling about what she should start with. I felt bad for Yustina because her mom was really pushy and was trying so hard to make sure Yustina is doing what she is telling her to do.
Let her express herself woman. Why are you like that?
I dropped the self-propelled judge in me to think about what I should draw on that canvas. Then I realized that I could try and get inspired by the surroundings. EURIKA! I'M DRAWING A باكية!
YALLA, I let my pencil touch the canvas and started moving. Trying to perfect every curve and kink, every pillar and accent. And people started stopping to watch.
My hand was shaky, I felt really stupid and I couldn't help but let anyone who initiated a conversation know that I had no idea what I was doing.
The more comfortable I got, the more I saw the true message of art prevail. People just stopping by to cheer, wonder or even just share a smile felt really nice. You know, we conversed as people and shared some laughs without the need for a background story or a string.
My spirit mingled with many other spirits that came and went without sharing a single word. But Mahrous stopped with 2 of his friends to ask whether he could take an extra sheet and join. 5 minutes later he had the full façade of the building sketched and ready to be etched. Literally 5 minutes later. I don't know his background. But you could tell that they are all an art major and in Cairo for vacation from some European country. The group had 2 Egyptians and a lebanese.
Mahrous had such a vibrant halo that attracted some homeless kids around him. My self-propelled judge instantly concluded that Mahrous will break down at some point and push the kids away from the amount of questions they were asking. To my surprise, he just answered all the questions while looking at what he was drawing as if he was playing word ping pong with the boys. Ibrahim was the most curious, and I couldn't help but give him a sheet and a pencil to start drawing.
I- What should I draw?
H- Anything you want
I- How?
H- Have you tried drawing before?
I- No, like what should I do? Just move it around on the paper?
M- Actually yes, don't look at anything, don't copy anything, just scribble
I- I want to draw a circle
M- Go ahead
Ibrahim starts sketching, draws a face, then a square, then a line. And everytime he takes the pencil off the paper to look at what came out of it, he cheers himself with a happy "YES!" accompanied with this arm gestures footballers do when scoring a goal.
Mahrous left, and Ibrahim brought his paper and took Mahrous' seat. Then Mustafa stopped by to add a couple of drawings to Ibrahim's paper that depicted a clown and AlAhly Club's flag. He informed everyone that he's a graffiti artist and gave them the thumbs up and went on his way.
Yustina and her mom had a painting behind me the whole time and I only saw it before leaving. It was a collage of Baron Empain, his palace in heliopolis and the car he drove. And I only saw it after a passer-by asked Yustina about it and she told him "my brother painted this, he's coming in a bit if you'd like to meet him"
I turned around to look at the painting and admire it, then left my sketchbook, graphite set and eraser while thinking to myself
