rewatching transformers prime and studying its body language !!! gonna update with notes on what i see

part (season) 1 ! seasons 2 and 3 will be separate

right off the bat, you’ll notice how fluid the movements for the bots are !!! you’ll see how this is important later (lots of little movements, cliffjumper is our first example)

autobots seem to have more fluid body language than (most) decepticons

metal is HEAVY . this show handles weight distribution beautifully it’s gen stunning

starscream’s body language interestingly seems based off of cobras (his silhouette is based off of them, too)

ratchet’s eyes widened upon finding out cliffjumper’s signal went offline

optimus’ hands are often balled into fists more than idly open

i find his body language super interesting — his stance is often straight with that first point in mind ! his hands are more commonly open when talking with team prime

he’s aware of how huge he is and looks down + leans a little to make eye contact (while he’s talking to the kids in s1e01, he looks between the three a few times)

^ additional attentiveness !! he looks down at whoever’s talking to him even if he’s not replying

his eyebrows are furrowed the majority of the time, this is important later

handles smaller objects/people with gentle care

his hips sway more than megatron’s but his arms swing less HSJS

bots seem to use rear view mirrors/headlights to look around in their vehicle modes

jack put his hands up after getting off of arcee in s1e01, probably instinctively for self defense

man was clinging on for dear life every time he was on her seat during that episode LMAO

arcee is also aware of her size — she utilizes it in combat

bumblebee has VERY expressive body language !!! for example, his eyes and doors

jack has somewhat resting bitch face NFJAJSK

not particularly body language, but it’s very visible if a bot has been roughed up ! beautiful attention to detail

characters often make eye contact or just glance someone’s way when they’re talking to one another

bots are typically 2-3 times larger than humans (they know this) and a handful of them kneel when they talk to any on the ground

ratchet’s eyes widened upon seeing the humans and his posture straightened

bulkhead visibly tensed when miko went up to him

miko very obviously thought bulkhead was cool as SHIT

the sass in ratchet’s eye roll and glance to the side was horrendous LMAO

2. I am so sad about Ray Stevenson. The world was deprived of a true talent and a fascinating character and the story he won’t get the chance to tell 😭 a loss of a talented human and a great storyteller.

“What I seek is the beginning” WHAT THE FUCK I’m so invested in this, thank god for Dave Filoni and his commitment to the well-planned, longform story (yes I’m subtweeting the sequel trilogy)

3. These nightsisters are a bit too “Dune” for my taste. I mean I recognize that Star Wars has copied Dune from the very first movie and also they are super cool but did they have to talk with that echo and be called “Great Mother”? it’s a little on the nose lol

4. THRAWN. THRAWN’s SHIP. The fucking KINTSUGI STORMTROOPERS OMGOMGOMG the QUALITY of the storytelling, the characterization, OMG

I’m sooooo glad they kept Lars Mikkelsen, Thrawn wouldn’t be Thrawn without that voice. and the Kintsugi is so in character for him, his appreciation for art, I love it so much.

5. ALSO, Enoch in the Bible DOESN’T DIE? (he is taken to Heaven and escapes death) so I feel like there has to be something significant about that. And the stormtroopers are clearly loading some kind of COFFINS onto the ship? Resurrection shit??? The Book of Enoch, as far as I know, is an apocryphal text—is that a signifier that whatever takes place in this other galaxy is sort of apocryphal compared to the original Skywalker saga? And, lastly, the book of Enoch is an APOCALYPTIC text—AHHHH what does it all mean, I’m so goddamn curious (this shit is back to the symbolic, Aristotelean tragedy Star Wars that I LOVE)

oh dude holy fucking shit . so. u know i have been posting about jrwi it has been my main thing since like november. well. in case u do not know. its a dnd podcast run by charlie slimecicle, grizzlyplays, condifiction and bizly. their main campaign is called Riptide and its the one with the fish guy and all the pirates. WELL. they have a patreon and on their patreon they sometimes do mini campaigns! let me preface this by saying i have never even REMOTELY had an interest in paying for ANYTHING on patreon only because i fuckinf hate subscription payments and also im usually hesitant about paying money for fandom things especially in the content creator sphere etc etc you know how it is . HOWEVER. god their pther campaigns are so fucking worth it dude. the long running secondary main campaign thats been going along around the same time as riptide is called Prime Defenders and its a superhero themed one! i am just at the beginning of season 2 rn its so good william wisp my absolute beloved. (something else rlly cool is that they rotate being the dm for each of the campaigns and i think that makes each of them really fresh and unique bc everyone has a different dm style and a different way of telling a story. god i fucking love dnd and collaborative storytellint its incredible)

ANYWAY IM GRTTING SIDETRACKED. so during hiatuses from riptide and pd they sometimes run limited campaigns that only go for a handful of epsiodes. one of this is. regrettably. called the Suckening. its run using the vampires: masquerade ttrpg setup and ruleset which is. obviously. centered around vampires. CHARLIE SLIMECICLE is the dm and i fucking love it because god that man has a mind for horror. (he also ran blood in the bayou which was a 4-epispde mini campaign using call of cthulu and ive listened to it like 3 times now bc its got nasty bug body horror in it hooooly shit its so good) ANYWAY. um . its not *as* homoerotic as the fanart makes it out to be. just a warning. but there is a scene where two homies drink each others blood (one is a human one is a vampire. theres this think in the masquerade called blood bonding and its like. if you get a human to drink your blood on three separate occasions they become your servant basically. really homoerotic stuff in theory) and when the vampire is scolded for it he goes "well he already loves me. hes my boy" and they generally have that dynamic going on. fizzfangs i lvoe you.

Last night I decided to watch prehistoric planet 2 with my husband bc I like grew up with walking with dinosaurs and all that but. I made it through 2 episodes before I had to stop bc I was so fucking mad. This series is so sanitized its driving me up the fuckinf wall. Its supposed to be a nature documentary but there's not a single drop of blood. They show predators eating at kills but there is not blood or meat. They chew on air. The baby dinosaurs look like disney movie dinosaurs with exaggerated eye size and cutesy unnatural movement. They show a whole story line about an egg their but the eggs don't have embryos the main meal of an egg. The predators are cast as villans and made to fail in really stupid ways tbh. God im so mad about this.

Its very telling about our current media environment tbh. How censorship and sanitization are everywhere.

If you think I'm exaggerating how blatant and awful this change is I beg you to watch just the first episode of walking with dinosaurs. There's gore and violence and entrails and cannibalism. When a dinosaur eats there's blood and scraps of meat in its teeth. It doesn't chew and swallow air. I'm so enraged by this.

so there were a bunch of theories after vol1 drop (we didn't call them gates then) and after vol2 they all started to get fleshed out and with the joke of "watergate" made by dustin (and vecna opening all those gates) we just kinda adopted it for different theories for season 5 or analysis about byler or season 4

scriptgate: this is the non show related one. so 8flix is a site that like gives scripts to people/public (film students use it etc) and there was a gofundme to donate to 8flix and like you would get your email signed up on the list and then the stranger things script sent you. the first one was episode 8 (vol2) basically it was supposed to come early august. like august 3rd or something i do not remember exactly but nick (8flix guy) got a lot more people on his email list than ever, and he wanted to do it one by one rather than a big release so we waited like 3 days or so (THIS TIME PERIOD IS SO ICONIC HONESTLY HILARIOUS SO MANY MUTUALS MADE.) there was like people drinking sangrias, i made a pizza, people were making crafts in the tag, it was a big sleepover. very fun, each time it got delayed it was funnier and funnier 😭. anyways we finally got the scripts (but at what cost) and they were so fuckinf depressing there was not a dry eye in the house. will said "i hate who i am" and nancy said "jonathan who?" it was terrible. and a couple days later stranger writers basically implied they were fake. like they were fake scripts. AND THEN EVERYONE TURNED ON NICK. it was a big thing but basically he was saying they weren't fake, and there's 2 big theories: that either he had very early scripts or just a bad source. anyways netflix said he could keep posting them as long as it wasn't revealing anything that wasn't already known (spoilers for season 5 i guess) (worth noting that when nick got his acc hacked on twitter "he" said shit like he was gonna name his source and 2 actors had confirmed the scripts. he was hacked so ignore this. i believe him at least)

letter gate: theory that mike has written letters to will while he was gone but never sent them, also most people believe that he kept said letter in his pocket in the custom blue shirt he wore throughout season 4

pocket gate: finn mentioned this in the hair chair before the st costume designers said this but, they made him a custom shirt (the iconic one for season 4.) few things to know! the pocket opens sideways, it looks like there could be something in it (because it never creases), the costume designers used triangle imagery on robin because of its meaning to the queer community and the pocket is a blue square with a grey triangle, and the pocket was mostly pointing towards will the entire season, will was always on mikes left! very few times was it pointing towards anyone else

breathgate: so i THINK this gate is about mike and max paralelling/lumax+byler endgame secured. so when mike saw the painting in the scripts that the stranger writers twt released it said "his breath catches" and when max was asked by lucas if she wanted to go to a movie friday it said "her breath catches." this could also be about how byler... breathed in sync when they were out in the field in the ending scene. or it could be about that very deep breath mike took when he was looking at will when they were in the van!

babygirl gate: someone made a tweet that made it to tumblr basically saying will was rubbing his back whispering babygirl in mikes ear so he could say i love you to el/his girlfriend. which sparked people to make will's quotes to mike say babygirl instead of mike(his name.)

decedants gate: is just like twilight gate. i forgor if mike is mal and will is ben. i think that's right. yeah. it was cool!! comparing byler to their relationship!! about how mal chose to be with ben because he makes her happy!

playlistgate: mike has a very queer coded playlist, promiently "smalltown boy" by bronski beat. it's a song about running away/leaving. this could also be about finn's playlist called "drive" which could be a playlist for mike (it's known that he makes playlists for his characters.) or this could be about (tender emotional music) and how the stranger things sound track proves byler endgame! or about how spotify /st took off a bunch of peoples playlists (some songs off mike and maybe will's too i think.) im not Exactly sure what this one is about.

sometime a bit ago i decided to watch the back to the future cartoon for a *reason* and it was bad bad bad bad

so for one, right off the bat, marty is fuckinf HORRIBLW. he forgot to deink his respect women juice. like. one episode he got upset at jennifer for talking to another guy about tutoring and yells at her, cuz apparently she's not allowed to talk to any other guys??? and then he goes and flirts with a girl in pretty much every time he ends up in. jennifer you deserve better break up with him for good please stop forgiving him T^T

i already. fuckinf. shake in rage over the fact that characters ancestors are doppelgängers in this universe. it was bad enough in the main trilogy. first and second movie it was excusable. third movie was... questionable. the cartoon??? guys i think... uh... these families don't do a lot of mixing of the gene-pool. fucking royalty levels of incest or something, how many blood conditions do you think these guys have??? the tannen's are the worst of it because in every episode they make it a point to be like "ugh, not another tannen" and they always. look. the same. i'm actually half convinced people in this universe are able to reproduce asexually and since the tannens are horrible and therefore must get no bitches, they results to asexual means to continue the tannen bloodline in every generation, and therefore every generation there's a tannen clone

as a cartoon made in the... *checks internet* 90s, it is bound to not age well. especially dealing with time travel to before america was colonized. and uh. it didn't. there's one episode in particular i felt like ngggh. at least the colonialists were depicted as the bad guys? somewhat? not really... idk... it's not good...

it felt like the time travel rules changed on an episode to episode basis. and look nearly all media that deals with time travel ends up having this problem and it annoys the hell out of me but what can you do. any. one episode doc's youngest son, un, fern? i think? i searched it up it's verne. anyway he got lost in time. and they tracked him through time by watching,,, the newspaper change,,, every time he did something 😐. my guy that shouldn't work if it already happened in the past, the final result of the newspaper should have been stagnant, even before the guy went back in time. this itches at my very soul

the things i liked about this cartoon? ahhh errrm ehhmmmm... bill nye was at the end of every episode doing a demonstration of a science experiment you can do at home with a voice over explaining everything from doc??? yes i do want to make invisible ink with lemons, thank you bill nye and doc emmet brown you guys make science so cool 😔. also einstein the dog got cartoonified, meaning he now has human level intelligence and apparently has a time travel train conductor licence. or maybe he's doing it illegally because i don't think the doc's kids are... so be dog do crime ig. there is one episode centred around einstein defending the delorean from someone breaking in and trying to steal it, and does so all before doc comes back out from whatever errand he was doing idk

anyway 0/10 wanted more wacky time travel shenanigans with avoiding past selves boo (there was one episode where they could've had something SO GOOD, like 'marty wtf are you doing here and how tf do you know this child wAIT marty are you from the future!,!?!!?!?!!? you know how bad messing with the space time continuum can be!!!!' because marty and verne went to the day verne was born right, so he knew marty at that point in time and it would've been so interesting for doc to see marty then but they never ended up interacting. missed opportunity 🙄)

prefacing this by saying in no way am i condemning the show for being about scotland or the impact it has on things like gàdhlig language learning and appreciation of culture but there is also a lot of things that piss me off .

starting with the Outlander effect . now glasgow caledonian university published a study a few years back that highlights how negatively outlander as a show popular in the united states specifically has impact scottish tourism and tourist locations.

on one hand tourism has increased which is a benefit for the economy, on the other hand

and it makes my blood fuckinf boil the absolute lack of respect that these people have for integral pieces of scottish hisotry . this shit exists outside of the show claire doesn’t fuckinf exist neither does jamie you’re not getting any of them but doing this to our history

speaking of history it’s not accurate but it was written by an american woman as a sexualisation of scottish men in a romance novel so that’s expected it’s not a historical series it’s just a romance set in that time . however. it’s not fuckifn hard to do some research ie where are the Calanais stones?? i’ll give you a hint it’s not skye, they’re on lewis. an episode to do with witch burning? an incredibly sore spot of scottish politics and hisotry with people still campaigning for the pardoning of these confirmed innocent women today, anyway it was made illegal several DECADES before the series was set which would’ve been known with a quick google search. being american she would’ve known that america as it was portrayed in the series didn’t EXIST in the period the series is set although the point about WHERE they moved to did represent an accuracy about scottish immigration to america bc ywah we did go there. even the historical advisor is like fuckin defending himself talking about how the jacobite rebellion is much more complex that portrayed in the show but hey ho it’s a romantic drama that’s what you get they’re not here for hisotry

last thing i’m gonna say i talked about the other day . the skye boat song. now the lyrics they used are an adaption of the adaption by robert louis stevenson . so it’s not the original folk song lyrics which depict the story of bonnie prince charlie’s journey to skye after the battle of culloden which is fitting since it’s a huge part of the first season from what i remember . but that’s not what you see when you google skye boat song . you see this

which is a modernised adaption that was only used because it was fitting to the character. again a misleading edge to scottish legend and history . i was gonna put the lyrics side by side so you could see how vague the robert louis stevenson and outlander lyrics as a reference to scottish hisotry but i cant add any more photos

so basically i think i need to explain wtf has been going on haha

firstly after ateez concert i took “post-concert depression” a little bit too far and had a 4 day long depressive episode of me not being able to leave my bed at all but i got back to normal for the first day back at school . then i had 2 normal days at school

then tuesday nigjt i think i got struck by some ungodly force that made me DEATHLY ill and i could barely walk i had a throat infection and flu and fever and i was ON MY FUCKINF DEATH BED [/hj] it was rly bad i barelt get i’ll but one night i genuinely thought i was gonna die lmao i was screaminf in pain , one day into that pain i fell into another depressive episode and couldn’t leave my bed again

i got an over the phone doctors appointment and they prescribed me CODEINE LMAO ?!? i literally got suicidal on one day but now i’m kinda ok

oh also really random but i watched gremlins on monday night before the chaos and gizmo is so cute
