Lando sits up in his bed, rubbing his sleepy eyes in an attempt to wake himself up quicker. Finding his phone in his sheets his eyes widen as the memories of last night slap him wide awake - oh god it wasn’t just a cringy dream. His thumb ghosts over the instagram app as he gains enough courage to open it. Breathing heavily when he does as he sees a DM unread.

Well - that went so much better than I expected. A sigh of relief passing his lips that he didn’t know he was holding in. smiling down at his phone like a giddy child he hears Max emerge from his room on the other side of the apartment. I’ll never live this down if I tell him - picking himself up he trudges over to his bathroom to shower in hope of clearing his mind of the y/hc girl that seems to be plaguing his thoughts.

In a flat in London Y/N sits at her desk getting herself ready for a long awaited stream. Cursing George slightly for the sudden influx of F1 drivers following her private account - hoping her cover won’t get blown as a result, not that she has anything against her brother but she’d much rather people like her for her content and personality rather than her relation to a famous F1 driver. She’d only just started going along with him to attend the races (through a slight amount of begging) dressed in oversized hoodies and sunglasses in hopes of remaining anonymous. She had been streaming for a little over two years now and had gathered quite a following through her cutesy animal crossing, minecraft and stardew valley content. It had honestly shocked her to find out Lando had been quietly watching her streams, thinking her content wasn’t exactly his taste. She had obviously known of him prior to his follow request - him being amongst the fellow racers her brother competed against, she thought he was talented for his age and quite often rooting for him to get his first win when she watched the grand prix’s - not that she would admit that to George who would ‘jokingly’ disapprove of her supporting any team other than his.

She pushed the thought to the back of her mind and ended her fans misery - changing the stream starting soon overlay to her face cam.

“Hi guys, long time no see !” shyly running her hand through her hair.

Y/N braces herself knowing her fanbase would have questions about her sudden social media disappearance. “Sorry chat I know it's been a while. I was quite ill the past few weeks with the flu so I’ve been laying low - I’ll remember to give you all a heads up the next time okay?” gulping back the displeasure of having to lie to her fans but on the other hand not being ready for them to discover her true identity and the fact she's been missing to go support her brother in Saudi Arabia, she continues “ but don't worry!”.

“Yes, thank you guys for your concern but I’m back to normal now” she replies clapping her hands together, “so what should I play today?”

Boy meets so many new people every day, he probably doesn’t even remember your name after you two meet. Like…he fucks guys and doesn’t even know their name first. He’s totally gonna forget your name for a while after you join him at the hotel.

“Good morning, Angel.” You mutter softly as you pass him in the hall one morning, your eye bags particularly prominent today.

“Heya! Good morning….uh toots!” Hes a bit taken aback, having not seen you until you spoke up. And he scrambled to find a simple pet name to call you bc he can’t for the life of him remember your name!

And this becomes a morning routine for you considering you lived in the same block of rooms as him and you pass each other around the same time every single day.

“Good morning, Angie.” You yawn as you pass him yet again.

“Morning, hun.” He forces a small, sleepy smile at you as he passes by, continuing his walk to the front of the hotel.

Angel comes to expect to see you every morning now, lowkey falling in love with your groggy, raspy morning voice and your bed head and your glossy, squinted eyes.

Slowly, Angel starts to become more friendly towards you, finally remembering and using your name to greet you.

He’ll totally start teasing you about your bed head and laugh when you try to smooth your hair out frantically.

There’s one morning when Angel walks into the hall and looks down both ways, confused as to why he didn’t see you yet.

Boy, does he flip his lid when he realizes he’s been standing in front of his door waiting for you to meet him in the hall for like 20 minutes.

It catches him off guard that…maybe he really likes you. Maybe he’s even…caught feelings?

Angel would probably panic a bit bc feelings? No, he’s used to one night stands and fucking for cash. Hes a party animal, a porn demon for fucks sake! How could he have feelings for you?

But nonetheless, Angel decides to go knock on your door. Maybe you just slept in today…?

Angel isn’t shy about his line of work, as we all know. So you’re very much aware he’s a porn star. Hell! He’s even shown you one of his pornos before, bragging and gloating as you watch awkwardly, face tomato red bc fuck he’s so hot and now that you’ve actually seen him naked, you can not stop thinking about what his soft silky body would feel like against your own skin

He loves that you’re accepting of him tho, that you never judge him or give him any looks of disgust or contempt.

He tells you all about his past life, how he died, his regrets, the people he misses most, his shitty situationship with Valentino, about his bestie Cherri Bomb.

Once Angel realizes you’re trustworthy and a great listener, he comes to you often when he’s upset, in need of advice or just looking for a shoulder to cry on.

He doesn’t open up to others too often and will strongly uphold his cocky demeanor and his flamboyant attitude around the rest of the group at the hotel.

But you’re different…you always seem to find each other on your best and worst days to share your emotions with the other.

When Angel has had a particularly rough night on set, his body sore and his mind foggy and exhausted, he’ll barge in your room without knocking, flop down on your bed and shove his face in your pillows. He’ll probably shed a few tears into the fabric on your bed, silently and without letting his body shake. He doesn’t want you to know he’s crying, but you can tell. When he’s abnormally quiet like this, he’s usually crying and holding his breath as to not let any sobs sound from his mouth.

He’d inhale deeply, trying to calm himself by manually breathing but it’s not the air that soothes him, it’s the scent of you on the pillow case that fills his nose and puts him at ease.

He’d then pour his heart out to you, truly appreciating the fact that you’re such a good listener and you look at him with such soft expressions of empathy.

Angel is always willing to switch and be your shoulder to cry on if needed, but really loves when you have some good news or something interesting to tell him bc he loves when you burst through his door with a giant, dorky grin, yelling “BITCH GUESS WHAT?! I HAVE SOME PIPING HOT TEA FOR YA!” Before gossiping to him between laughs and dramatic faces.

I think once he’s come to terms with his romantic feelings for you, he’d start to get a bit more touchy. But not sexual touches…he actually really really enjoys touching when it’s parts of him that aren’t normally touched by others. Does that make sense?

He gets manhandled, fucked, roughed up and pushed around nearly every day so he’s used to being touched on his hips and torso, he’s become accustomed to hands firmly gripping his ass and his throat, he’s used to bitting and being bruised by the end of the day.

So when you gently caress his cheek or run a hand through his white, bouncy hair or link your pinky with one of his or gently rub his back as you pass by him, he nearly loses all composure.

You treat him so well, he’s really starting to fall in love with you and the innocent way you show your affection for him.

You can’t help but notice how his gaze has changed recently, how his face contorts completely when you’re around. Instead of his usual 😎😏💋 attitude it’s more like 😳☺️❤️‍🔥

What used to be cheerful smiles and playful nudges has turned to shy giggles and playing with each other’s fingers mindlessly as you sit together, not at all focused on the task at hand.

On several occasions, you’ve caught him staring at your lips as you talk to him. While it made you a bit self conscious at first, you slowly start to catch his hints.

Him staring at your lips, his smile becoming soft and sappy when you hold his hand for even just a second, the way he perks up and watches as you enter a room, the way he always wants to pair up with you or sit beside you during group time but closer than normal, the way you noticed a few clothing items of your were missing and one day you noticed one of your shirts sloppily tucked under his pillows.

He totally had a crush on you…and you did not plan on letting this go.

You confront him about the shirt hidden in his pillows as soon as you see it and his response is surprising. You’ve never seen this side of Angel Dust.

He’s bright red from his neck all the way to his ears, he can’t seem to focus his eyes on you, all his hands are frantically trying to find something to fiddle with on his clothing, he’s a stuttering mess, unable to form any full sentences.

He’s not used to all this sappy shit. But he’s loving it. Plz don’t stop.

Now’s your chance to tease him back, just like he always does to you. Go ahead, flirt with him, tease him about using your shirt as a pillow case, tell him your feelings too, that’ll help calm him a bit, to know that you like him back.

“Wow, who would’ve thought? Famous little sex demon Angel Dust has a crush on lil ol’ me? Aww, am I making you soft, babe?” You tease, watching him malfunction bc he’s never been flirted with so innocently. Like you’re not telling him in excruciating detail all the dirty, naughty things you want to do to him. Instead, you’re calling him sweet names and confessing your feelings as well and even poking fun at how cute he looks all flustered.

“Q-quite the opposite, actually.” He replied jokingly, still not letting his eyes meet your gaze.

You can’t help but laugh at his dirty response. Of course he would…💖

After some talking, maybe some boundary setting and talk of expectations in a relationship together, Angel might consider having a steady relationship with you.

He would love nothing more than a kind, caring, stable partner to come home to every night. Will you…plz be that for him? Baby boy needs cuddles and words of affirmation every day okay? Take care of him~

Hazbin Trailer + Rewrite Spitballing

The Hazbin Trailer omg

I finally watched it and like... it's so bad guys. Honestly, the only people I pity are the animators and the pilot voice actors, and the new actors too. Blake Roman especially, the man is super talented, but trying to fill the massive shoes of Michael is weighing his performance down so bad. Honestly, if Viv wasn't a petty brat, she could've kept Michael and gotten Blake as the singing voice.

Apparently there's a war on Heaven plot? I hope to god not, like that's NOT THE PREMISE. God Viv just cannot stick to her premises, can she? This happened with Zoophobia, initially it seemed like it was going to follow Cameron but slowly lost focus on her. Then Helluva Boss losing the hired assassin plot for the sake of shitty Stolitz drama. Seems redeeming sinners is going to be a side plot which is unfortunate because that was one of the biggest things i wanted from this show. I remember when i used to love Vivziepop and i got so excited for the pilot of Hazbin. Redeeming sinneers, that sounded so cool. It's what got me into demonology and was a big part of my life. Sad to see this happen.

I genuinely hate the stupid trope of heaven, the place that is literally paradise for good people, being bad. Like, i cannot feasibly imagine a universe in which Viv manages to write that in any compelling way. And why is it just ‘heaven bad’??? This could be an interesting story that discusses the nature of good and bad, talks about what makes someone a good person, should people be given redemption if they already blew their chance, is the definition of 'good' wrong? Like, in the hands of competent writers, Hazbin could be an interesting story, like a Walmart Good Place! But no, heaven bad, let's go kill angels that say fuck.

Like, as an example of my above point, let’s look at a familiar face from Helluva Boss, Mrs. Mayberry.

She killed someone, tried to kill someone, then herself, and is now in hell. But a good question could be raised of if her being in hell is even justified. Yes, she killed a person (and attempted to kill another) which is not a good thing to do. But she killed her husband in a fit of rage after seeing him cheating on her – like actively, red handed, balls deep cheating on her. From what we see of her before her death, she seems like an attentive and caring teacher and wife, she even says herself she was ‘good my entire life’. Her students love her, and literally the reason she kills herself seems to be because she realizes that they saw her literally murder someone. She did choke and throw a child, but that was played for comedy so I'm not counting that against her. She kills herself because she’s so shocked about what she’s done. She’s bitter because she’s in hell.

Her husband was a cheater and the woman she tried to kill was a murderer and a cannibal, so by that logic, doesn’t her killing a bad person negate the killing? Yes, murder is bad, she should’ve controlled herself, but this was one terrible moment in a lifetime of being good. Like, say someone kills a pedobear, is the person commiting the murder a bad person for killing someone who deserved it? Not that her husband deserved to die for cheating, a good beat down maybe. If a good person kills a bad person, does that make them a bad person too? Or does it come down to intention? Did the good only kill the bad for a selfish reason?

That’s an interesting conundrum (in my opinion). Does she deserve to redeem herself? How would she redeem herself? If I keep thinking on it, i'll ramble, but that's my thinking. Anyway, this made me think about a rewrite that follows this line of thinking.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Charlie being an angel and Vaggie being her Exterminator guard who goes with her to hell to redeem sinners is the best way to make this mess an interesting thing. Like, Charlie is an optimistic angel who thinks the extermination of sinners is inhumane and that the standards of Heaven need changed. Vaggie is literally trained to kill sinners and sees Charlie’s efforts as futile but is assigned to help her anyway. Makes sense why everyone would disrespect Charlie and treat her like an idiot for wanting to redeem sinners, instead of insulting the daughter of FUCKING LUCIFER HIMSELF, they’re laughing at an angel who came down out of nowhere and is acting high and mighty.

Also, Charlie can keep the name Charlie Magne instead of Morningstar because she's no longer Lucifer's daughter. Vaggie is just V. boom, problem solved, i'm a genius.

Synopsis: As usual, you and Mingi always spend your Valentine’s Day doing something new every year. It was practically a tradition for your 5-year relationship. Ultimately, you two decided to go to the Valentine’s Fair that happens every year in Seoul. It was overall a good time; food, games, rollercoasters and so much more. Little did you know a shinier prize would be on the list.

“Mingi!! Mingi!!! Come here and do this game for me!!”

Mingi turned around to face you, a bag of food in one hand while 3 stuffed animals rested in his other. He looked tired and out of breath as he hurried over to you, struggling to keep up.

He found you standing in front of a ring toss game, practically jumping up and down as you beamed at the huge pink teddy bear on the wall. You turned to look at Mingi, whose eyes faced the plushie while practically shocked at the size of it. Mingi stood at 6’2, making him a relatively tall guy. However, the size of that bear looked about half of his. He gulped nervously and met your eyes hesitantly.

“Shorty, are you sure you want that one? My hands are pretty full here.” He cleared his throat and looked down at his full arms, shaking from fatigue.

You returned a pout to him, looking back over to the gigantic teddy that hung. Silence filled the space between you two for a split second until Mingi sighed and turned so that his side could face you. A smile beamed on you as you clasped your hands together.

“Omg really??!! Thank you Min!!” you exclaimed joyfully.

“Yea, yea. Take the wallet before I change my mind, please.” Mingi rolled his eyes, allowing you to take the wallet from the pocket of his jeans. And that you did.

You took out a 5-dollar bill and handed it to the tenant, explaining that you wanted five rounds just to be safe. The young man nodded, handing you the rings and setting the timer at the stand. You looked at Mingi, both of you sharing a reassuring nod. The game began and you threw ring tosses towards one bottle, in hopes of it being easy. However, you were quickly humbled to see that it wasn’t as easy as you thought

Four rounds went by and the giant bear still had yet to be in your hands, making you question your existence. You stood there with a blank expression on your face, not sure if you should continue the game with a 50/50 chance of winning.

You sulked a bit as the tenant handed you the last bit of rings. You didn’t feel even the slightest amount of confidence that you’d win. You looked at Mingi, who gave you a small reassuring smile. He nodded, placing the prizes on the floor and handing you the bag of food to hold. He took the rings from your hands and pet your head softly, switching spots with you at the stand.

“Watch and learn little one.”

He threw each ring onto a singular bottle, getting 3 on one and 3 on another perfectly. There was no hesitation in his throwing and he didn’t even seem the slightest bit worried about losing. You stood there in awe, practically jaw-dropped at how effortlessly Mingi won for you. He grabbed the large bear from the tenant as everyone around him clapped, making him confused as to what all the commotion was about.

“I mean it’s just a game.. I don’t see why everyone’s clapping?” he mumbled.

He handed you the huge bear and then picked up the ones he placed down as well as the bag of food he handed you. As he began walking away from the stand, you stood there in awe still as to how he was unfazed. He continued to walk, not even looking back at you to know you weren’t following him.

“You gonna keep standing there looking pretty, princess? Or are we gonna go to the Ferris wheel?”

Shaking yourself out of your thoughts, you ran to him with the bear. You walked beside him, your heart filling with joy and love as you recalled how sweetl Mingi was to you.

You’ve been dating him for almost 5 years coming next month and it’s safe to say that it was the best decision you have made in a long time. You two were practically trainee sweethearts, if that’s a thing. You had met him as trainees at KQ Entertainment through Yunho, and have been close ever since. Even though you are just a backup dancer for Ateez, you still enjoy seeing Mingi perform as he does with you.

And that’s exactly how he fell in love with you.

From countless nights of practicing and nights of you perfecting his dancing skills for performances, he grew very fond of you. How kind you were, how thoughtful, and willing to put everything on the line just to help him out. How you’d constantly reassure and remind him to eat and rest on hard days or times when he practiced too hard. He appreciated it all and he still did when you two started dating, it never changed even a bit.

“Mings?”

The tall boy looked down at you, eyes soft as he raised an eyebrow at you. Your face flushed pink when your eyes met, making your breath hitch slightly.

“Thank you for today, it means a lot that you step out of your way for me.” Your voice grew quiet as you began to feel shy, quickly looking away from Mingi.

He stopped in his tracks and turned to you, his teeth showing in his smile.

“You don’t have to thank me, Shorty. I do this because I love you and because your happiness matters to me.” He leaned down and placed a small kiss on your forehead, giving you a slight sensation of butterflies in your stomach.

“You deserve this, I couldn’t begin to explain how nothing I do compares to what you’ve done for me.”

You smiled, your hugging on the bear tightening some. You looked up at the giant Ferris wheel that glowed full of colors ahead of the two of you.

“Thank you, Mings. It means a lot.” You grabbed onto his hand, holding the bag of food together with him. His grip squeezed yours softly as he began to walk towards the ride.

You felt a small amount of worry in you, as Ferris Wheels weren’t always your thing. Sure you loved rollercoasters, you even loved the thrill of it all, but you weren’t too keen about this ride. The uncontrollable rocking of the cart, even the long wait time in the air as the tenants had to take each individual on and off the cart one at a time. It made you a bit uneasy.

As you finally made it to the line, the nervousness you felt began to worsen seeing how short the line was. You so greatly hoped the line was long enough for Mingi to change his mind or even for you to calm your nerves. However with a line this short, it was guaranteed that you two would be next to board. You let go of Mingi’s hand, looking up at how high the Ferris Wheel sat.

Mingi looked over at you, realizing you let go of his hand which is something you normally didn’t do. You always wanted to hold him whatever the chances were, so it was a surprise to him.

“Something wrong, Princess?”

Your eyes darted away from the ride, looking over at Mingi who was concentrating on your feelings. You looked down and held your bear tightly, not exactly sure how to say what you were feeling. However, him being your boyfriend for almost 5 years, Mingi could read you like a book. He already knew and didn’t need you to say anything for him to.

“Don’t worry, it’ll be okay. I’ll be across from you the entire time so you won’t be alone.”

He cupped your cheek, softly caressing it with his thumb. He grabbed onto your hand again as the line continued to move up, making you two next on board.

He set the bag of food and prices aside, then grabbed the teddy bear from you to place nearby. As he walked back over to you, he intertwined his hand with yours, slowly walking you over to the carriage.

He let you in first, soon following behind you and taking a seat across from you. You both fastened your seatbelt as the tenant closed the door. You looked at your feet, not even daring to look around you as you felt a wave of nervousness wash over you. The cart began to move, making your body tense up and your eyes widen. You weren’t even focused on Mingi, all you wanted to do was get off.

“Hey,” Mingi leaned over and placed his hand against your knee, squeezing it softly.

You remained with your head down, although your eyes were now focused on Mingi’s hand. He caressed your knee softly with his thumb.

“It’s okay. I’m right here. Look at me.” he encouraged you, soon getting up from his seat and sitting next to you. He placed his hand under your chin and lifted it slowly to meet his eyes, but they quickly darted to the sight around you. You realized how high you were in the air and began to panic. You felt your breath become short as your heart beat out of your chest. You weren’t sure of what to do, you felt trapped and as if you had nowhere to go.

Mingi placed both of his hands on your cheeks, pulling you to face him and only him. Your eyes quickly locked as you zoned out of your fears. He placed a soft kiss on your forehead with the hopes of calming you down.

“Breathe, Shorty. I’m not going to let anything happen to you.”

You exhaled softly, nodding to Mingi’s words as you closed your eyes. He smiled at you, soon intertwining his right hand with your left hand. The cart was silent for a bit as the ride continued to move, making you squeeze onto Mingi’s hand for some comfort. You felt Mingi move a bit as he held your hand, making you question what exactly he was doing.

“Mingi, please don’t move. The cart will move with you,” you mumbled, not even daring to open your eyes.

He let go of your hand, giving you a small nervous feeling in your stomach. You still refused to open your eyes, even if you were curious as to why he let go of your hand. However, your safety was more important to you at that moment.

“You might wanna open your eyes for this one, Princess.”

You shook your head no in refusal, closing your arms with it. If it was your fear that Mingi was trying to help you get over, a simple line like that was not going to help anything. Mingi sighed softly, taking your hand in his as he kissed it one time. It remained held in his hand until a small faint red painted your face.

“Please, for me?”

Your heart clenched at hearing how soft his voice was to you. Even though Mingi had a deep voice, he was always sure to soften it for you so it didn’t come off as too aggressive. You felt your face flush pink as you sighed, lifting your head. You opened your eyes and quickly widened them at the sight in front of you.

Mingi stood in front of you, kneeling on one leg as he held a dark blue velvet box in his hands. It was opened toward you as he smiled at you. In the box was a shiny gold ring. A small pear-cut diamond sat pretty in the middle of its holding, followed by smaller diamonds lining the sides of the ring. Gold bands circled the outer layers of the ring to make an infinity sign. It sparkled in the moonlight, allowing Mingi to see the sparkle in your eyes.

You felt tears start to swell in your eyes as they locked with Mingi’s, who continued to beam a smile at you.

“Y/n, my sweet sweet love. We’ve been together for as long as I can recall. Wouldn’t you say it’s time to make it official?”

You were at a loss for words. Your face was completely red at his words. The nervousness you once felt, the fear that took hold of your body has now left. Peace filled within you as love gradually filled your heart. Was this his plan all along? How did this go unnoticed by you? Something this big, especially when any gift Mingi gets you is very easy for you to figure out. Was it because you never mentioned the idea of marriage to him? That he never glanced at jewelry stores? Did the boys know of this plan?

“Mingi—” you started.

He held up a finger, shaking his head at you to stop talking. You blinked your eyes in confusion as he cleared his throat.

“Y/n, will you marry me?”

Silence filled between you two as your mind went blank at his question. The tears that swelled in your eyes began to fall as you brought your hands to your face. Even if you were at a loss for words, your body language was enough to tell Mingi your answer.

You nodded quickly as you began to cry. You held out your hand for him to grab so that the ring could be slipped onto your finger. He pulled you into a tight hug, soon letting go to kiss you. He held his hands around your waist as your hands cupped his cheeks. The kiss was passionate, unlike any you two have shared before. Your lips intertwined softly against each other as you felt the heat of each other’s bodies. Pulling away from the kiss, you two locked eyes. He gave you a small smile with a tilt of his head.

“Thank you, Mingi. I couldn’t tell you how grateful I am and have been to have you.”

You saw his cheeks glow red at your sentence, shyly looking away from you. You kissed his cheek softly as you held onto his hands.

“You deserve it, Princess. Anything for you.”

Found family anime recommendation list

I've been thinking about making this rec list for a while because found family is my absolute favorite trope, so this is really self indulging haha 🤭

these are just some of my personal favorites, but if you guys have more recommendations please add them!

(This list contains spoilers!)

1. Dororo- absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. the two main characters, Dororo and Hyakkimaru, develop such a special and precious bond throughout the story, and what makes it even more interesting is that at the beginning, Hyakkimaru is not able to see, hear, or really communicate with Dororo, and he gets those abilities slowly throughout the story (through killing demons haha yes it's that kind of story), so it makes the development of their relationship really unique. Both of them don't have their actual families for different reasons, but I absolutely LOVE the familial relationship they develop!

2. spy x amily - everyone's new favorite family lol. I don't think I need to elaborate, I love the little family they've built. it's so cute how all three of them have their own selfish reasons to want to keep this family unit, but at the same time care so deeply (and obliviously) for each other, I love it! there's not a single character I dislike, there wasn't a single episode i was bored watching (so far). it's like the perfect found family - they found each other, and just created a family instantly haha. If for any reason you're still not watching this, you really really should

3. banana fish - ugh honestly it's hard to find words for this one, it's so so SO good, but also, watch at your own risk, it's been years and my heart still hasn't recovered. The relationship between the two main characters, Ash and Eiji, is so beautiful and touching and tender, and it's so satisfying to watch. Ash deserves all the love omg 😭 I love how they take care of each other, how it's obvious to everyone how much they love each other. and i hate how it ended but that's a talk for another time...

4. Run with the wind - ok so i think most sports anime have an aspect of found family - your teammates become kinda your family, and friendships and bonds are usually the main focus. but i think it's especially highlighted in run with the wind - it's a show about running a marathon, and it's in a university setting (which already makes it more interesting lol). i LOVE connections between the characters. here as well, there's not a single character i dislike. even king who i didn't really care about in the beginning, I grew to love so much by the end. and Haiji might be my favorite character of all times. like throughout all platforms, he's my favorite. he created this team and he made them a family and i just wish i had a haiji in my life, you know? 😭

5. march comes in like a lion - ok, so, this one is especially precious to me, and i think it's my favorite anime of all times. officially, the show is about a boy who plays shogi professionally, and it is a part of it, but there's so much more to this anime. I've never watched anything that handled depression, and the journey of getting better, in a more accurate way than this show. the main character, Rei, is an orphan, and has a really complicated life story. he meets these three sisters, and is kinda invited to be a part of their little family. the relationships in this show are so touching and tender, even when nothing sad was happening i found myself crying. the sisters basically adopt rei, and little by little help him heal some of his wounds. the visuals of this show are perfect, you can feel everything rei is feeling. the sisters' house feels warm and inviting, while other spaces feel cold and disconnected. it's brilliant. also, the show handles the different characters with so much care, you end up caring about them all. i can go on forever lol, it's a masterpiece.

6. kids on the slope - another brilliant show. this is a slice of life, and the focus is on the friendship of three teens in the 60's. i love this one because even though they all have families that play a part in the story, they still become like a family to one another. their relationships are so touching, and so realistic. it deals with jealousy and friendship and love and loneliness in such a realistic, relatable way. for example one of the boys gets really jealous when his friend gets a new friend, it makes him lash out in such an unreasonable way, but at the same time you can totally relate to what he's feeling, because like, which one of us hasn't been there, right? i really recommend! (Also, the music is absolutely fantastic!)

7. Umibe no Etranger- maybe some people would think this doesn't belong here, but i totally think that along with love, this movie is totally about found family 😊 the two main boys are both on their own, Mio because he was orphaned, and Shun because he lost connection with his family after coming out. throughout the story, they become each other's family and support system (especially if you keep reading the manga like i have hehe🤭). i love their relationship so much!

8. fruits basket - again, maybe it's not the main trope, but it's definitely very much there! tohru, who is left without a family, finds a new family in the form of the very dysfunctional sohma family, that cares about her immensely, while she also cares about them and helps them heal and break their curse. i never read the manga or watched the old anime, and i didn't expect this to be as deep and painful as it was, but honestly one of my favorite shows right now.

9. Poko's udon world - so! freaking! cute! is it a ploy to make people have families and kids? perhaps. do i care? nope. Poko is the cutest child character ever, and the parent-child relationship between sota and poco is so precious, this is the most literal definition of a found family lol- sota found poco and basically instantly adopted him. the story is really touching and cute!

10. Clannad + Clannad after story - ugh i don't know if I'm able to talk about this one again, as it makes my heart hurt. this is one of my all time favorites. i think even though it's a love story, above all else it's a story about family. i wasn't sure if it fits the "found family" category but decided it does. even before nagisa and tomoya get married, tomoya is basically adopted by nagisa's family. they take him in to allow him some distance from his father, and show him how happy and loving a family can be. Also, all the friendship in the story are meaningful and have a familial feel to them. throughout the show there's a lot of focus on the subject of family, which leads to the main characters creating their own new little family unit. if you've been living under a rock i must warn you, I've never cried this much while watching a show in my life. while the ending is a happy one (well... in a bizarre kind of way, i guess), there's so much pain throughout the whole show, it's overwhelming at times. still, it's so so good and i really recommend to give it a try! (please, get through the first season and get to Clannad after story, it's really worth it!)

11. Usagi drop- i also wasn't sure if this fits the found family category, as it deals with an actual family, but wth, it's my list i can do what i want lol. very sweet story about a guy who adopts his grandfather's 6 year old daughter when he dies (yes, his aunt, basically), when no one else in the family wants to take her in. it's very sweet, very touching. they slowly become a family, and he learns what it means to be a single parent, and what sacrifices he has to make (like getting demoted at his job so he'll have more time to take care of his kid). the show is very wholesome, but don't read the manga, as i heard it went in different, less wholesome directions.

12. kotaro lives alone- this show was a ride! i was expecting a silly show about a 4 year old boy who lives alone, and got a heartbreaking show about neglect and trauma. his neighbors become his family throughout the show, and come to love him a lot and take care of him, and their relationships are very entertaining and sweet. ngl, i cried a lot during this show. i do think it deals with some very triggering things, so you should check that before watching 😊

Part 11

You rested your head on his lap as the policemen took his statement. Yves spoke politely and gave them all the necessary facts over what had happened. He stroked your hair and soothingly rubbed your shoulders.

As it turns out, he paid for your consultation as soon as he came in. Said a few words of caution about Montgomery to the receptionist, giving her time to assemble an army of mall security officers.

"All done." He whispered into your ear. You woke up choking on your snore, he patted your back as you coughed over his shoulder.

The policemen were finished, you and him are free to go home.

You and him arrived at your place by 6pm. Your housemates were of course nosy pricks, crowding around Yves to ask him about his recent injury. He dismissed them with impeccable manners, ushering you into your room and locking the door behind him.

You wanted nothing but to flop into your bed. However, Yves urged you to take a shower first and have a change of clothes before doing so. You begrudgingly did what he asked of you, taking a longer time because you're lethargic from today.

But that gave him just enough time to prepare a delicious bowl of clear chicken soup. How lucky you are to have dinner freshly ready as soon as you get out of the bathroom.

He fixed a bowl for himself too, sitting down next to you.

You slurped on the soup as if your life depended on it. Hell, you didn't even need a spoon, you simply began drinking from the rim of your bowl.

"You're going to upset your stomach again. Take slower sips and please use your spoon." He lectures you, paying no mind to the 7 pairs of eyes watching him from the hallway.

You felt like an animal being observed at the zoo. Yves must have sensed your discomfort, as he offered to take the meal back to your room. You nodded and followed him past your housemates' ogling eyes.

In the end, you found peace by having dinner with him on your study desk. He borrowed a chair from outside and brought it inside.

You have caused two of his injuries so far. The burn on his hand and the bruise on his face, the guilt is eating you up because Yves treats you so well, it felt too good to be true. With this much sacrifices he made, he must be expecting something of equal value in return. You know you can never fulfil it no matter how much you tried.

He's too perfect, you can't keep up with him. You feel like a crusty, ugly gremlin next to him.

You're starting to feel uneasy again in this relationship, you want to get out before you're in too deep. So you started to ponder on ways to break the news of your decision, maybe if you tell him over text--

"I want to talk about us." He spoke out of the blue. You feel chills down your spine, you don't fare well with serious, heavy topics. But you can't just run away from your own home.

You gulped and decided to tread carefully, asking him to go ahead. He set his spoon down and looked at you with his good eye. The other one is concealed by his perfect curls.

"I regard you as my romantic partner and you think of me the same way."

That is... true. But you think that Yves saw you as a trial run. He probably is seeing other people in the meantime to find the best fit, something akin to getting a job. You know that's how people in big cities date.

"I'm a monogamous man, (name). I expect you to be monogamous as well." He dabbed the corners of his mouth with a piece of facial tissue.

You remained silent, not knowing what to say as usual.

He lets you squirm for a bit under the uncomfortable pressure of quietness. However, it was this awkwardness that caused the gears in your head to turn.

You think he is implying that he has no one else aside from you, so he isn't... trying out other tasters? You're too shy to ask, so you took your revelation at face value.

You didn't have to. Because he clarified what he said a minute later.

"I am not seeing anyone else. You shouldn't be either."

That's much better. You let your shoulders sag in relief. You might think that went unnoticed, but Yves is also elated that you're also hoping he had no more space in his heart for others.

He thinks that is enough for now, Yves knows you get overwhelmed easily. He will save his other expectations and boundaries when you're a lot more settled into life.

You picked your spoon back up and continued drinking the soup, enjoying chunks of chicken and carrots along with it. You wonder if this simple dish was elevated because it's made by someone you admire. Because you knew on normal days, you would find this excruciatingly bland and even make fun of it.

When you finish, Yves bowl still looks untouched. He is undoubtedly the slowest eater you've ever met, watching him eat was like witnessing a real life posh etiquette class take place. He never fills his spoon to the brim and he scoops his soup using the edge, pushing upwards at 12'o clock on the bowl. He only drinks from the side of the spoon, never the tip nor did he ever put the entire spoon into his mouth.

He wouldn't hunch down, instead having the spoon come to him as he maintains a straight posture. His other hand rests on his lap.

He's so silent when consuming his dinner. Yves never slurped or let his teeth hit the metal spoon.

You're bored but you wouldn't want to talk to him. It will only serve as a delay in finishing his bowl. It would be rude of you to tell him to eat faster, so you don't want to do that.

"(name), could you please prepare me a glass of water?" He requested without looking up from his bowl.

Say less. You're already at the door. Finally, you have something to do.

He smiled as he heard you closing the door.

"Thank you, dear." He took your phone that you carelessly left on the table, in his hands. He removed the cable that's attaching your device to his power bank.

Yves keyed in your password flawlessly, unlocking it for him to access everything.

"Whaat!? That's so badass though!"

"I know, right! You lucky bastard, I wish I had a man like Yves."

"God, he's so dreamy..."

Your housemates hounded you in the kitchen, pestering you for information and actually treating you nice. All you wanted to do was fill two cups with nice, crisp water.

"Well, when's the wedding?"

"Yeah, he's like.... he's like a perfect malewife. You gotta put a ring on it."

"It's too early for them to marry! And don't you mean a husband?"

"No, a malewife."

"That's not a word, it's husband!"

"S-T-F-U CEO of simp, don't try to steal him away from (name). You don't even have a chance!"

"You all are always so mean to me!"

"We wouldn't be if you didn't steal every date that we invited over!"

You quietly slipped away while they were distracted with their bickering.

You entered your room and closed the door behind you, locking it so none will try to barge in. You apologized for taking a while, your housemates were holding you back.

He's still eating his soup! He barely made a dent in it since a while ago.

He thanked you as he took his cup.

"They're childish, aren't they?" He commented, taking small sips of his drink.

You agreed, but you knew they're just not compatible with the likes of you. And you didn't say more because you wanted him to finish his soup as soon as possible.

He took another piece of tissue, folded it and daintily tapped his mouth.

"Would you like to finish the rest of my bowl?" He asked, you said yes because you didn't want it to go to waste and you're still mildly hungry. He stroked your head as he rose up from his seat, collecting your empty dish.

He left your room to clean up.

Yves left after dinner and you felt relieved that you didn't need to explicitly tell him you want him out. Regardless of how you feel about him now, you still have a "Yves-interaction" quota daily. You're not necessarily hungry now and the weather is quite nice before dawn. You think you would enjoy sitting at the park, watching joggers of all ages try to get their steps in. However, it's going to take a longer bus ride to get there since it's in the city.

You scratched your head and weighed your options, keeping in mind that your judgement is slightly impaired due to sleep deprivation.
