A grotesque autonomous collective and yet a ruler in its own right. The aquatic roi des rats of the whirlpool's roil, whose name shall not be uttered. The worlds worst maypole by far, 0/10.

And yet there are sea creatures far worse, and far scarier, out in the unknown depths... beyond the splendour of the tempest; the sandbank’s luring smile. Encircled by flopping hordes of mindless and amorphous dancers, lulled amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Waiting for their moment.

I love how much the big run lobby track feels like a rehearsal

TFCOATHBOY with the cello, figuring out C-Side's tune, making it into his own imposing craft to warm up not just himself, but the salmonids going into war in a way that also serves as an intimidation tactic against the inkfish. Taking the song that represents the Splatlands at its core and making it his own beautiful melody

VGFBFTHC'S timpani is very clearly being tuned all while figuring out the time signature for the song, always in line with TFCOATHBOY's melody, providing a strong sense of backup for him, what brings the song together, what makes this haunting tune feel like a preparation to march into battle

And of course as usual there's TLSOTTSKH, way more lowkey in this one, setting up his DJ-ing equipment, the occasional haunting sound lingering in the back but nowhere near as pushy as his sound usually is, which gives VGFBFTHC a chance to properly shine rather than just covering his timpani with the usual remixing

The lobby theme serves as a warning for the inkfish, but it is also a warm up for the salmonids AND ω-3. It feels like they're being intimidating without even giving it a second thought because we're so used to their energetic, rough, march-like music that hearing something so calm come from them feels unnerving. I think it's honestly beautiful

Okay so Now that the big run is confirmed for march. can we talk about the possibility of getting a new omega-3 remix. because if they really end up adding another one besides clickbait ... like i KNOW it's probably going to be a damp socks + off the hook song. but i want to dream big ... i think sandy side up would sound SO GOOD as an omega-3 remix, they could do a lot of fun shit with the vocals ...
