"The researchers found that most hyrax sightings occurred in the most urbanized sites. They attributed the hyraxes’ preference of the urban sites to the higher availability of water stemming from human activity."

Cucuron to visit an olive grove (featuring the cutest little foxface doggo) and then up to the village of Roussillon, where they mine ochre for yellow/orange pigments (and put those yellow/red/terracotta colors all over their houses too) 🇫🇷
I had the pleasure to help out with the olive harvest for some friends who own a Quinta (farm) during a vacation in Portugal. It was so fun and rewarding climbing and working in their olive grove stripping the olives off of the gnarled branches. With my efforts I was able to take home 5 liters of olive oil from the harvest back to the U.S.
I’ll be able to cook many meals with this buttery and spicy oil. Yum.
Reading this book felt like visiting an old friend. The Percy Jackson series written by the wonderful Rick Riordan is what really got me into reading when I was a kid. It was the first series I had ever read. This reminded me of it a little, for obvious reasons: the Greek ancestry, gods and goddesses, the relics, the magic etc. I loved it. It was a satisfying read and ended neatly with everything in place. But for some reason I felt like it was missing something? Either way. I really enjoyed it. It was a very simple yet enjoyable read. It also had one of my favorite maps I’ve ever seen.
